Regarding questions we received!
First things first, we wish to reiterate information about our project.
This is a free, digital-only zine with no merchandise, nothing physical, and nothing to purchase. There will be a PDF file in the end that everyone can download, and it will be distributed through itch.io.
This zine is open to ages 13 and above, and as such, it is completely SFW with no NSFW content or discussion allowed (like on our Discord server). Depictions of violence, gore, or other potentially sensitive content should be no worse than the level seen in the original PMMM series.
The core theme for our zine is vast and open-ended:
The meaningful relationships between a couple characters of choice, which can be platonic or familial rather than romantic. Contributors have the freedom to make up whatever story or art concept they want to create for the character pairs they want to focus on, so long as our guidelines are followed.
They are free to come up with their own pitches for what they want to draw or write, but we can assist with providing further themes or ideas if wanted. In order to ensure a level of variety, we will be providing feedback and reviewing all pitches before accepting them.
Contributors will all be invited to our Discord server for the zine, and will be able to choose how they are credited in this project.
Contributors are allowed to create up to two submissions if they wish to, but no more than that.

We would like to allow contributors to draw/write the pairings of their choice, but in order to ensure a level of variety, we ask that everyone is open-minded to the possibility of being asked to change off of their first choices. This is a zine for the Madoka franchise, not just the HQ girls.
While Magical Girls are the focus of this zine, other characters are allowed within our core theme. Junko, Kazuko, Kyosuke, Hitomi, Shirogane, Hiko, Tasuke, even Witches-- They are allowed! Additionally, non-human artwork of characters is also allowed. AUs are also allowed as long as they follow our guidelines.
Once the application period has ended, we will take some time to review them all and will send out acceptance emails inviting everyone who has been accepted to our Discord server. After this point in the schedule, the team behind the zine will be settled and we will not be looking for any more new people, so there are no future opportunities for someone to try and join if they couldn't apply during our application period.
However, that being said, we will look at our pinch hitters in the case that we need them. Applicants can mark down in the application that they are okay with being a "pinch hitter" if they are not accepted into the zine, and what this means is that if someone has to leave the project, we will reach out to a pinch hitter in order to replace that missing person, thereby bringing them into the zine. There is no guarantee that we will need to make use of any pinch hitters.
Small artists are absolutely allowed to apply for our zine! Popularity or number of followers are not determining factors for how we will accept applicants, as per the information on our new guidelines page. We will not be able to accept everyone that applies, unfortunately, but we will make our choices based on the portfolios that applicants include in their contributor applications.

Trump's tariffs have forced the big four mass pattern makers into bankruptcy and will likely further yank home sewing accessibility from the American people
And while I want to remind everyone there's plenty of indie pattern makers with a large chunk of them gathering on Etsy, and that there's Facebook groups dedicated to sharing PDF files of sewing patterns that you can use with a cheap projector so long as you size off the sample squares
And that the foldline is another collection of indie pattern makers that also breaks down how to print your patterns
And that Annika Victoria, while retired, has left up her YouTube videos that continue to be an excellent source of sewing tutorials and slow fashion (the likes of which helped teach me to sew outside costume shops and quilting circles in the Midwest) ((also she's an absurdly fun and light hearted chronically disabled woman and one of the top people I want to have ad revenue forever)
And that my favorite book on how to sew is likely available in some form at your local library
The simple fact of the matter is that none of the current government's actions have made America any more self sufficient, they've just further ripped opportunity and enjoyment from the American people's hands.
Sewing is a very small slice of the pie, but it's been really impacted this year. From one of the last standing big chain fabric shops closing to this announcement of bankruptcy-- sewing has now become more inaccessible than ever. Which is a shame because sewing offers so many things.
From sustainable fashion, to the ability to show empathy and love, to an ability to express ourselves-- losing access to these resources is only going access to pull the ability to sew from the American people, and might have the slow trickle down effect of lowering the quality of garments we're willing to accept and the way that we treat fashion in an already unethical industry.
I'm not even going to touch on the way that basic sewing skills have made gender expression, mobility access, and community connection more accessible because we would be here for years
What I am going to say is that long and short-- it's shit, and while there are indie resources, the average consumer isn't going to know where to look for them, and a lot of people are just going to be locked out of this hobby.

preliminary thoughts on siddur shoshanat yadi (shavuot thoughts pt 1)
I'll say up front, I did not enjoy davening with this siddur. To be transparent, I have a siddur I really like and I bought a copy of Shoshanat Yadi as an experiment (just decided to get the proof on a whim, I felt more comfortable being within my budget for it). I also liked that it was comprehensive of all services and not massive--the siddur I usually use doesn't have a version like that. I also want to disclaim that I have not gone through the siddur in-depth; these are my thoughts after using it once, for festival services.
Problem 1: Quality-of-life features. My preferred siddur, Eit Ratzon, has a LOT of QoL features--a longer table of contents for example. I want to say right here that I understand that anything that makes the book longer is also a tradeoff with the fact that it works for all services and is a small format. I found Shoshanat Yadi a little annoying to navigate: mostly because of the format of translation and transliteration, which I'll talk about in a sec--it was just hard to quickly figure out which blessing I was looking at by reading the text. The table of contents was a little too short, but honestly it was serviceable. What was really annoying was that I *could not find Yigdal anywhere!!* However, I'm going to give the siddur a pass on this stuff because a) I think this would be mostly fine for someone who's more adept at navigating siddurim than I am, b) I can also chalk this up to unfamiliarity with the siddur and service, I think it would be better with more frequent use and in a more familiar context, and c) it's a proof copy, so these things might change. Also, I really liked the little symbols for directions like stand and bow! I think they're a lot more elegant than what Eit Ratzon does.
Problem 2: The translation-transliteration format. Here's a screenshot from the full text PDF which is also linked on the antizionistsiddur instagram (side note: I had to download the file because it was so large and that seemed to break the comments but I would love to be able to get a look at the comments in context).

I don't like this. I really like reading the English meanings of prayers and doing this makes it really hard to get a continuous meaning--you essentially end up reading the prayer in fragments rather than in complete sentences. The introduction says this is to help readers make connections between the English and the Hebrew line-by-line, and while it might do that for someone who's better at Hebrew than I am, I find that it really misses the forest from the trees in that I struggle to look at a page and get a good idea of what a prayer is about. This and the following thing are the main issues I have.
Problem 3: The Aleinu in the room. My preferred siddur, Eit Ratzon, has four versions of the Aleinu (including the traditional) that attempt to grapple with the message of the choseness of the Jewish people, because a message of Jewish supremacy doesn't sit right with a lot of us. Shoshanat Yadi has only the traditional. And while I understand trying to keep the siddur short, it feels like an antizionist siddur should definitely attempt to grapple with the prayer that is pretty explicit about Jewish supremacy. Similarly, I could see an explanation of this as trying to keep the prayer traditional, but if you're going to add v'al kol palestinah and v'al kol yoshvei teivel and chaverim I don't think it's too much of a stretch to at least give people the option to deviate. I think this highlights a weird tension that often exists between traditional Judaism and progressive values and there's often no good way to resolve that, but I think Shoshanat Yadi should at least try. Tatir Tz'rurah talks about it a bit in the introduction but it feels pretty surface-level, and I think Shoshanat Yadi should stand on its own and make its own explanation as well.
With those large pieces of criticism, here are the things I did like about the siddur:

While I personally don't feel the need, I like the option of chaverim with yisrael
I liked the introduction! I liked what it had to say and how it said it.
I like the inclusion of Hagar in the matriarchs or at least found it interesting, (i'm curious how the tune would go with her added) though I would have loved some info about it in the introduction
I like that it has the bedtime shma! feels kinda sweet idk
I don't think I'm going to use the proof copy much, but I might take it as a travel siddur because of its size and comprehensiveness, and I might try to use it at my own services once or twice (but I'm away + won't be going to services for the summer so that won't be for awhile). I don't think I'll buy a full copy, and I probably won't buy any further antizionist siddurim like this unless they're big copies with lots of commentary (the main reason I like Eit Ratzon). I wasn't necessarily expecting to replace my current siddur, but I hoped that Shoshanat Yadi would be something I wanted to daven from sometimes, maybe when the mood struck me. I think Tatir Tz'rurah would have been more like that just because of the formatting of the translation and transliteration, but alas I could not get my hands on one. anyway those are my thoughts. curious to hear others, especially from people who have Tatir Tz'rurah!

I've been poking around the old archived Filianic Studies website looking for anything I missed archiving, and it looks like some PDFs never made it to the Way Back Machine, but appear to have been uploaded there at one time. In particular, this link for the "Breaking The Time Barrier" pamphlet.

And, of course, I'm maddingly obsessed with trying to find the issues of Artemis that aren't on archive.org (only volume 5 and 6 are uploaded!), old pages on the Madrian Deanic Resources blog seems to indicate up to 8 volumes were scanned at one point!

Usability: Great RPG Mechanics #RPGMechanics: Week Nine
Continuing my week of meta-elements which make for great games, I want to talk about physical presentation. There’s a weird mix in my collection of ttrpgs. I have 8-9 shelves filled with physical books and way, way too many accumulated in my badly organized “rpg e-files” folder which has migrated across five different desktops. I’d say pdfs have become the majority at this point. I usually read those on a crappy Samsung tablet, mostly because I have a hard time reading large amounts of text on a screen. So pdfs work better than others– and I appreciate when the designers have thought about these elements. 
Printer-Friendly: I love it when a ttrpg has a printer friendly mode. This can take a couple of forms. Some games, like The Sprawl, have a day-mode and night-mode versions. When I first saw the Sprawl’s white text on black background, I didn’t like it. Eventually I found out that was a more comfortable approach for a lot of readers. But I appreciated that Hamish Cameron eventually released a version with standard black on white page design. Other games publishers in the last few years have begun to do this more and more. Star Trek Adventures includes that with the pdf purchase. 
The other version of printer/reader friendly is to have layers available in the pdf. This allows readers to turn off distracting page elements: paper textures, watermark art, intrusive page frames. This allows for easier printing, but frankly for me, it makes for easier reading. It just makes me unreasonably angry when I get a pdf with page backgrounds that make it harder for my old person's eyes and I can’t turn those off. Sometimes a pdf will have layers but turning off the backgrounds removes the text as well because they’ve merged the two together. The best games have layers, cleanly separated and cleanly labeled. 
Give Me Text: Some games in recent years have offered text-only versions, like The Veil. I love this. It is hugely useful and makes it more likely that I’m going to run that game. I run the majority of my ttrpgs online. Usually that means I’m putting together materials for the players: setting background, cheat sheets, and character keepers. Extracting text from pdfs is a pain, even with a good program. You almost always have to deal with the paragraph breaks and formatting. When a company provides the text, it makes my job significantly easier. If you want people to play your game online, outside of a set VTT package, include the text with the pdf. A lot of folks on itch.io know to do this. 
Accessibility: There are a couple of elements which I can’t speak to from experience, but I appreciate when I hear about publishers who spend the extra time getting these things right. My father was color blind and the few board games he played with us often had to be modified to make up for that. Some companies use online tools to check how their material works for the color blind. That’s important where color is used to mark out important information: particularly different colors to indicate different things. 
On the other hand, one complaint I’ve heard about certain books is that they’re particularly dyslexia-unfriendly. They choose fonts which look cool but become a pain to actually read for people with this condition. I know tools and resources exist for checking which fonts work better than others. Of course it isn’t just about fonts, but general typographic elements, size, background bits, etc. When I designed the earlier Gauntlet Community revised logos, I had input from a couple of folks who encouraged me to move clutter away from the words and remove some extra type flourishes. It looked better and became more useful as a result.

65: Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
I’m taking a short break from writing right now, but I have plans in the works for sure! When I’m done with my break, I want to tackle a Daikeru oneshot. Shocker, right? The basic gist of the story is that Daisuke and Takeru are both on Tinder, they FIND each other on Tinder, and they proceed to have some conversations about how and why this occurred. It leads to fun times, which eventually leads to dating. I don’t know when this story will get written, but I’ve outlined some of it already, so it’s in the works for sure.
73: What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
So this is going to sound weird to people who aren’t familiar with my writing…. But I have this “gimmick”, so to speak. I create video game style text boxes (inspired by Ace Attorney) and use them in place of dialogue. This includes profile images for each line of dialogue. More recently in the past year, I started creating multiple character expressions to go along with the emotion behind what each person is saying. The process takes a LOT of extra time on my end, but I’m always proud of it when I’m done.
People have told me the text boxes help break up text and make it easier to read the story. The biggest downside to this method is that the images make the file too large and unwieldy to download as a PDF or EPUB. So the only way to read my stories is straight on AO3.
I also love creating other kinds of multimedia graphics for my stories. It helps keep me engaged in my own work.
