Randa's brothers are finally on their way out of Khartoum! Randa is just $698 away from completing her family's fundraiser, and she's hoping to be able to finish it in the next few days due to the US imposing sanctions on Sudan. Here is more about the current situation in Randa's words from and update she posted to the fundraiser:

"We’re Almost There, just $1,000 Left! Let’s Finish This Together It’s been a year and a half since we started this fundraiser, and thanks to your incredible support, we’re now just $1,000 away from reaching our goal! We’re deeply relieved to share that my brothers have finally managed to escape Khartoum and are now on their way out. This is a huge milestone and it would not have been possible without your help. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement has carried us through.

But now, time is running out.

Due to the recent escalation in U.S. sanctions on Sudan, we are worried that access to our fundraiser or the ability to transfer funds might soon be affected. That’s why we’ve made the decision to close the fundraiser by the end of this month — we need to secure the remaining support urgently while we still can.

We are so close. If you’ve been meaning to contribute or can share this one last time, now is the moment. Let’s finish this together and ensure my family can move forward in safety and dignity.

If you're wondering why polling averages are suddenly showing Trump winning despite all the bad news he's gotten lately- it might have something to do with this:

Basically, Republicans are ratfucking the polling averages by churning out huge numbers of partisan polls, and the polling aggregators/analysts like 538 aren't doing due diligence to compensate for it.

Now, what is the purpose of this?

Well, in the immediate-term, it creates a narrative that Trump is winning, boosting morale of his supporters while demoralizing support for Democrats and Harris.

Beyond that, if polling averages show that Trump is winning ahead of election day-which we can pretty much guarantee they will, because see above-then they will use that as "proof" of fraud if Democrats subsequently win.

Basically, they are engineering a pretext for their next coup attempt in front of us.

The only numbers that decide anything are actual votes. So ignore the polls, and VOTE.

Postcards for Palestine

I have been in touch with Ahmed (24) who is desperately seeking help to feed his family in Gaza and pay to continue his education through online courses.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of many donors his campaign has raised enough to cover the €180 out of €200 for the first installment due by December 22nd (the full amount raised is split between covering the cost of his education and feeding his family)! However, he is still missing the remaining €20 for the first installment and the €250 needed for the second installment due in January. Without this money, he will not be able to continue his education, which is a great source of stress for him.

In an effort to support Ahmed’s fundraiser, I will be offering to send these special postcards I collected while living in Japan to anyone who donates €5 or more to his campaign. introducing a new literary journal about the intersections of gender & sexuality, power, and virtual space in fandom. By the editors who brought you works like yaoi zine, yuri zine, and butchverse 1 & 2.

AMERICAN* FUJO* is Alexis theswordwizard (thats meeeee :D) & tshirt3000's forthcoming anthology on fandom culture, trans identity, and general overanalysis. Our project tries to asterisk and complicate its categories of both “American” and “Fujo” as much as possible, interrogating gender and sexuality, power of all kinds, and the virtual communities we call fandom. 

We asked our contributors questions along those lines: How has being a fan affected your gender or sexuality? How has our gender or sexuality affected how we engage in fandom? Who is a fujoshi, who wants to be one, and who doesn’t get the choice? In America-centric fan spaces, what is necessarily suppressed? How can we trouble the category and dominance of “American” from within and without? Finally, what does it mean to be in a community that’s overwhelmingly virtual, as reliant on digital social platforms as it is on fictional media, both owned by another party? And what affects or acts are uniquely enabled by these virtualized desires and sexuality? 

Our contributors range from actual self-identified American fujos to writers who are emphatically neither. They answer these questions through illustration, comics, essays, and autotheory, developing creative ways to capture fandom and its discontents. The anthology surveys a wide range of topics, from transgender fujoshism (in any direction) to race and belonging within theoretically progressive fandom. We want to make the full vibrancy of fandom as accessible as possible, and theorize both its possibilities and its limits through this anthology. We hope you’re as excited to read AMERICAN* FUJO* as we are to make it!
