A group backed by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller has filed a federal complaint against the Los Angeles Dodgers over the team's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices.

Why it matters: The Dodgers are one of the most popular MLB teams among Asian, Black and Mexican American fans and recently committed $1 million to help immigrants affected by President Trump's immigration raids in Southern California last month.

The big picture: The complaint is part of a larger strategy by MAGA conservative-led groups to attack private companies that are keeping programs aimed at helping or recruiting people of color.

Zoom in: America First Legal (AFL) announced this week it has filed a federal civil rights complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against the Dodgers and the investment firm Guggenheim Partners.

The group says the reigning World Series champions are "engaging in unlawful discrimination under the guise of 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' (DEI), in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964."

The complaint alleges that the Dodgers "appear to be engaging in similar unlawful DEI practices by allowing race, color, and sex to motivate employment decisions."

AFL specifically attacks Dodgers' programs that seek to help Asian Americans, Black Americans and Latinos, which the group claims are unlawful.

Now, I'm happy that a lot of people are experiencing the sims 2 AND 1 for the first time ever, I truly am happy people are getting to play. However, I can't lie that it's a little bit annoying seeing some of the big youtubers play it and their reactions, lack of knowledge on it but pretending they know what they're doing because they played it 15 years ago as a kid? Or how they're now making tons of videos on how to do things or how to play the game when there's a whole community out there who have these videos on their channels, there's no acknowledgement of the sims 2 community and how amazing they are, there's no credit to modders or people who made this game playable while EA continued to ignore our pleas to fix stuff? Am I the only one feeling this way? Idk, I'm not jealous at all, I know if I dropped a youtube video tomorrow, I'd have my community celebrating with me.... I guess I'm just a bit salty and annoyed watching sims 4 players act the way they are about TS2....not like it's been around since 2004 or anything. Smh, I've been in such a bad mood this week (real life related stuff, not cause of the sims lol)... and it's starting to spill out everywhere lol...

Something that’s bothered me about a lot of Poolverine fans is that they do the whole “I’m not an animal” thing for Logan, with nightmares about people (Stryker) calling him one, and then proceed to headcanon animalistic behaviors and attributes about him. He’s a bit more flexible than a regular human, he has heightened senses, he has a super fast healing factor, and he has claws, with or without adamantium coating on his bones (depending on the time period or timeline. Sometimes he has no metal & bone claws.) He’s NOT an animal. One of the things that made me angry about X3 was that they had Beast of all people call him one too, because Hank McCoy would never. But yeah, the fandom leaning harder into that and making him more animalistic (beyond various timeline canon and PTSD induced moments of self preservation) pisses me off. It feels like fetishization. If you want a big hunky man with heightened senses who’s territorial and possessive and shit, read some werewolf romance novels.

I remember seeing people complain about too sudden technological and industrial development between ATLA and TLOK. I was one of them before but then I remembered how fucking much can change in 70 years.

I, however, want to complain about the too sudden development between the end of ATLA and the ATLA comics. The new devices and vehicles look too modern; some even look newer than everything we see in TLOK! I don't mind seeing new things added to a world but at least try to fit the aesthetic. Why couldn't you at least draw the forklifts or the snowmobiles in a more... idk.. ATLA-like steam punk?

pissed abt the new discord mobile update so heres my rant.

the new hud is ugly, laggy and impractical. the lil servers button will ALWAYS have a blue light unless you read every server message which is dumb. they should have an option to turn that off or revert it back to the old HUD (like how reddit has its current site and its "old site HUD" verision), it feels laggy to swap between servers and messages and its slow, making it hard to balance having two conversations at once. you cant even see which people are online in servers by swiping to the side anymore and have to press the search button (which takes a moment to even load, adding more to the lag factor), not to mention, messages look weird now since you ALSO cant side swipe to see whos online/status messages, you must press the search tab and then itll lag to load and show up like how instagrams messaging system does, with it separating the media sent, link and some other stuff. overly complex and unneeded.

not to mention, the new "midnight" color background doesnt even look midnight, you'd expect it to be pitch black on all parts but instead they made it blueish, which is dumb and knowing current discord, they'd put pitch black behind the discord nitro color themed backgrounds (which is also stupid but thats a whole other can of worms.)

overall the new interface is annoying, laggy, UGLY, and hard to traverse, the seperation of areas was unneeded, made worse by the fact that discord themself have said that a setting to make it go back to normal wont be made and if anyone doesnt like it, to delete their accounts. (most likely not caring due to the fact that they have no competition in purely texting apps), it is also full of glitches such as: people being able to send messages but it STILL being in the text box, being so laggy its unuseable and from what ive seen, nobody online is happy as it completely removes all user-friendly access to things and makes it generally hard to use.

I’m not the biggest fan of romance. Like. At all. To the point I will actively avoid books if I know they’re romance heavy. But the problem with that is: I’m a fantasy reader.

Specifically fantasy. Don’t mind reading other genres but I dragons are AWESOME.

But that creates a problem: THE LACK OF BOOKS WITHOUT ROMANCE. Like, I don’t even care if it’s a side plot. If it’s just a small, small thing that’s just there. But when I pick up a book and want some good world building, dragons, friendships, etc WHATS ON THE BLURB and instead it focuses entirely on the romance. Honestly, I don’t care if y’all read romance fantasy and enjoy it: I just have an aversion for romance in general and would like to avoid it.

Like it’s a me problem. I get that: a good chunk of people read specifically for the romance. But sadly I am not one of those people. I’ve just been having such a hard time as of late trying to find good fantasy novels, like, long ones that are interesting. Said ‘bad’ books are probably genuinely good for the target audience (romantasy readers) but just terrible for me as it’s not my genre.

I keep being told I’ll ’grow out of this’ or ‘come to appreciate the romance’ but it’s not happening for me and it’s near high fucking impossible to find any books that fit my preferences. Like going on a03 and sorting tags in a 100,000+ fic fandom just to get like, twenty results.

Sorry for the rant. If anyone has any fantasy (or any book) suggestions with minimal romance, then I’m here to read em! Really the only genre I don’t read is romance, everything else is free game.

Wanted so badly to read and write today, but the illnesses, guys. The illnesses!

I’m hurting all over and had a killer migraine earlier. Pushed myself too hard by leaving the house and doing the dishes and ended up getting a cortisol crash. Didn’t really feel better till I’d taken 15mg of my steroid.

So now I’m just really tired. (It’s also the combination of Xanax and my cough medicine. [No worries, it’s perfectly safe.])

Anyway, I’m falling asleep writing this and have discovered that I can accurately type on my phone with my eyes closed. That might be a problem???’
