ACES at Edison por Erie Limited Por Flickr: NJ Transit's Atlantic City Express Service (ACES) was a short-lived inter-city train that operated between New York Penn Station and Atlantic City with only one intermediate stop at Newark. The operation was funded by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and three casinos in partnership. The CRDA is a state agency, as is NJ Transit, so essentially New Jersey taxpayers paid for it all, regardless of which agency funded it. Needless to say, the service was a failure and was in operation for only three years (2009-2011). The consist was certainly unique, operating with an ALP-44 electric on one end and a former Amtrak P40DC diesel on the other. The ALP powered the train between New York and Frankford Junction PA where the diesel took over for the Atlantic City leg of the journey. Push-pull operation was necessitated by the reverse move at Frankford. The train seen here was operating during the final summer of service, with 4803 leading through Edison, NJ and 4405 shoving from the rear. The 8 cars specially equipped for this service would be sent back to Bombardier to be rebuilt as regular commuter coaches. The Fox Manor Hotel was known as Atlantic City’s honeymoon hotel in the 40s and 50s. In 2018, the city deemed the property ‘unfit for human occupancy’ and shut it down.
In 2022, a company called Atlantic Beach Properties LLC proposed renovating the 48 former hotel rooms into 29 apartments. Despite the plan being fully approved by the CRDA, a groundbreaking date for the development has not been announced.

CANT Z.511 Italian Seaplane

The CANT Z.511, was a large, four-engine Italian seaplane developed during the late 1930s. Designed by Filippo Zappata of Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico (CRDA), the Z.511 was conceived as a long-range transport aircraft capable of transatlantic flights between Europe and South America. However, with the onset of World War II, its role shifted to potential military applications, including reconnaissance and special operations.
Initially, the aircraft was to be powered by Alfa Romeo 135 engines; however, due to delays in their development, CRDA sought permission to acquire Wright R-2600 engines from the United States. These negotiations were unsuccessful, leading to the selection of Piaggio P.XII RC.35 engines, each producing 1,500 horsepower. Despite their power, these engines were considered underpowered for the aircraft's size, resulting in a maximum take-off weight of 34,200 kg and a range of approximately 4,350 km.
Only two prototypes of the Z.511 were constructed. The first, designated MM.396, made its maiden flight on October 19, 1940. Initial tests revealed issues with the aircraft's controls, which were addressed over the following months. By February 1942, official trials commenced, and the aircraft demonstrated the ability to take off and land in rough seas.
In late 1942, the prototype was transferred to Vigna di Valle for further evaluations. On September 1, 1943, two days before the Italian Armistice, the aircraft conducted its final test flight. Following the armistice, the aircraft was sabotaged by ground crew to prevent capture, resulting in it sinking in Lake Bracciano. The second prototype, still under construction, was 82% complete when work ceased, and it was subsequently scrapped.

Le Ministère de la Santé et de la Prévention a ainsi publié en mai 2023 une feuille de route portant sur la planification écologique du système de santé, fixant des objectifs et ouvrant un certain nombre de « domaines d’action » prioritaires parmi lesquels le bâtiment et l’énergie, l’achat durable ou encore les mobilités durables, mais aussi, concernant plus spécifiquement le secteur de la santé, les soins écoresponsables ou la gestion des déchets de soins. L’enjeu porte autant sur la capacité du système de santé à participer à l’effort de réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre que sur sa soutenabilité environnementale sur le long terme. Jusqu’à présent, les réflexions ont semblé se déployer à la marge du droit. Or la transition écologique soulève un certain nombre d’enjeux juridiques. Ainsi, l’intégration des objectifs de la transition écologique dans la politique des établissements de santé, notamment au travers de l’adoption d’un volet « éco-responsable » dans le projet d’établissement, interroge quant à sa compatibilité avec les objectifs assignés au système de santé. Plus largement, le déploiement d’instruments de planification écologique pose la question de leur caractère juridiquement contraignant. De même, la territorialisation de la politique de santé et l’organisation de l’offre de soins sur le territoire doivent-elles (voire peuvent-elles) prendre en compte les impératifs de la transition écologique ? YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Slams Dictator AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu For Demolishing Under Construction Office Of YSRCP’s Office Defying Court Orders

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA state government has demolished the under construction central office of the opposition party at Tadepalli in Guntur district.
According to PTI, Reddy alleged that the demolition was carried out disregarding high court orders.
“Chandrababu took vendetta politics to the next level. Like a dictator, he got YSRCP’s central office demolished with excavators and bulldozers, which was almost complete,” said Reddy in a post on ‘X’.
According to a YSRCP statement, the demolition commenced around 5.30 am on Saturday.
“The demolition proceeded even though the YSRCP had approached the High Court the previous day (Friday), challenging the preliminary actions of the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority),” said the statement.
YSRCP noted that the court had ordered a halt to any demolition activity, which was conveyed to the CRDA commissioner by a party lawyer, but the authority still went ahead and demolished the structure.
According to YSRCP, CRDA’s action amounts to contempt of court.
The former chief minister alleged that law and justice completely vanished in the southern state under the NDA government, comprising TDP, BJP and Janasena, and added that the demolition indicates how Naidu’s reign in the next five years would be.
The YSRCP chief said that the opposition party will not be intimidated by these vendetta politics. He promised that the party will fight for the people.
