tim drake has literally never had a vigilante id that he named/designed himself. robin? inherited from jason who inherited it from dick. red robin? inherited from jason again. drake? fucking stole it from his EVIL ALT UNIVERSE SELF.
and hypothetically he'd be so good at it. think about alvin draper. caroline hill. Mr. Sarcastic. this boy has a new identity for every day of the week and you're telling me he can't come up with his own hero-sona? absolute bull.
#tim drake#dc comics#batfam#ideally this new identity would've been introduced at the end of sum of our parts with the whole#identity crisis and coming into one's own thing that was the core of the story#but barring that. the best time to plant a tree is ten years ago. the second best time is right now#I've seen a bunch of great alt names in fanfic. cardinal and peregrine are the ones that come to mind#but i dont think he needs to stick with the bird theme

The likelihood that the prince’s career during these years involved controversy is heightened by evidence that certain developments between 1409 and 1413 seem to merit the description of crises. The Parliament Roll and the records of the attendance and work of the king’s councillors show that political changes took place at the beginning of 1410 and the end of 1411 which were radical in terms of persons even if not of policies. On 21 December 1409, Henry IVs long-standing friend and political ally Archbishop Thomas Arundel resigned the chancellorship, which he had held since January 1407, and does not seem to have attended the king’s Council during the next two years. During 1410, the Council took on the appearance of a ‘ministry’ led by the prince and largely composed of his principal friends among the baronage, including his father‘s half-brothers Henry and Thomas Beaufort. On 30 November 1411, these councillors were publicly relieved of their duties and, with one or two insignificant exceptions, appear never to have served again for the rest of the reign. In 1412, Archbishop Arundel returned as chancellor, men reappeared on the Council who had not served since 1406, and the king’s second son Thomas was advanced to a position of prominence. These bare facts alone suggest that the two changes of ministry were probably not accomplished without some degree of political tension.

Honestly, I feel like Copycat wouldn’t happen in Kuro Cardinal. Juleka would probably show up at the reveal since Marinette’s main reason on missing the reveal is that she was being a thief, one. Two, I feel as if Empress wouldn’t akumatized Theo into Copycat to copy Kuro Neko due to the genders. Not saying that it can’t happen, but I feel as if it’d be unlikely. Three, Cat Noir also aggravated Theo by telling him that he and Ladybug are romantically involved. Kagami wouldn’t do that, so it wouldn’t stand. Even if Lady Cardinal was confronted with this revelation from Theo, she’d make it very clear that she’s only interested in girls. So now I’m thinking of a replacement chapter for it.
This isn’t just me making excuses for not writing Copycat.

i thoroughly enjoyed conclave but it was a silly little mystery movie trying very hard to be serious dramatic oscar bait which meant the fact that the film’s meaning was so diluted as to be irrelevant was immediately evident.
#conclave#also thought the issues that the cardinals addressed were so superficial and poorly articulated#idk tedesco could have been so interesting (mainly bc of the latin liturgy bit he had) and i wish they'd done more with that#and for a movie nominally about catholicism!! INSANEEE that they didn't really talk about christ until the homily like forty minutes in!!!!#it wasn't about god. no one had a crisis of *faith*. lawrence had a crisis of prayer and the deceased pope had issues with the church#do love me a good spiritual dryness moment but it wasn't really spiritual dryness was it.#lawrence's storyline also had no real resolution and it's a MOVIE so it shouldve methinks#none of it was about god and maybe it should have been#was beautifullly beautifully shot though. the costumes!! the scenery!! oh my god!!#film

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #130
I made a tea today. This time, it was jasmine green tea. I got some pictures for you.
The jasmine green tea starts out a shade of green, like this:
If you look closely, you can see the tea steeping into the water. I took a picture to try to show you; maybe you can see all the squiggly lines:
It resolves into a lovely shade of amber after a while. Then you can add your honey and cream. You can also witness two of my cats staring out the window:
...But once again, I am not writing about tea. I imagine if you don't want to be sad, you should stop reading here.
8 days ago, some kind of sparrow died in my hands - likely a female song sparrow. Today, it was a male cardinal:
J and I were on our way to Taiwan Noodle because he had just gotten done with practicing in the airplane that belongs to the airplane club he's in. We were in the car, and I noticed a cardinal flopping around on the road, near the sidewalk. I asked J to pull over and he did, though it took a minute because J mistook him for a piece of garbage fluttering in the wind generated by the cars at first, since the bird was bending himself at weird angles.
...I think probably he was doing what lots of birds here like to do - flying low to the road and playing chicken with passing cars. I imagine he got clipped someone's windshield or side view mirror; there's a REASON I am not showing the right side of his head, and I'm not going to get into it.
The bird stopped flopping around as soon as I picked him up off the asphalt. I held him in my hands as we got in the car; I didn't have a box to put him in. He kept trying to blink and turn his head; given that half of it was basically gone, I don't know how he was still even conscious.
I asked J to bring us to The Animal Hospital; they treat wild creatures. I knew he wasn't going to make it from the start (suppose this is why I didn't cry nearly so hard this time as compared to last time; I was under no illusion that he'd live), but I didn't know how long he might end up being in pain before his last breath, so I figured the thing to do was to bring him to where he could be examined and euthanized. So we went.
He didn't make it; we were further away from the place - roughly 15 minutes, as opposed to the 10 minutes from my house. We were about 5 minutes from the place when he went limp and stopped breathing.
...I have to remember that even if all I could do was give him a soft, warm, loving hand to be held in instead of dying alone on the hard asphalt with all the cars rushing past... I still did a good thing. Even if I couldn't save him, I still allowed for his last moments to be gentler than they would have otherwise been.
I felt so angry at all of the people walking right past him on the sidewalk. I saw at least a few people look at him and just keep walking, like he wasn't anything worth stopping for. I can't understand how it is that nobody cared. I can't understand why nobody else tried to help. I can't understand it. All of those people rushing past, and nobody did anything. Goodness knows how long he was lying on the road like that, struggling, gasping, terrified, and writhing in pain.
...I don't want to think about it.
Though he was gone before we reached The Animal Hospital, we still went there. Some of his blood had gotten on my hands, and I urgently needed to wash them because of that. The Animal Hospital has trails, so with the permission of the person at the front desk, I gathered up whatever flowers I could find on the property, and set off to find a peaceful place for him to rest. I found one, under a bendy tree, some distance from the trail:
...And just like before, I thanked him for his presence and for his song in our world, even if it was for too short a time. I hope the soul that inhabited this vessel is doing okay. I know that one way or another, the empty body left behind will return to the soil. The cycle of life will continue. I just hope, if only for a moment, the creature could feel seen, loved, warm, and cared about. I returned to The Animal Hospital, and they directed me to a bathroom; I thoroughly washed my hands, and then applied the hand sanitizer that was available there, just for good measure. Blood is a biohazard, after all.
...Sephiroth. A lot of really difficult, sad, and scary things have happened over the last 8 days, and I am, at least for the moment, struggling a lot and feeling very fragile. It's not like me to ask for help, I know. Normally, I would tell you something like, "don't you worry your pretty little head about me; i'll be fine", but... you know. If you wanted to pop by today and watch The Zeta Project with me while eating ice cream and drinking tea, I certainly wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind at all. You wouldn't even have to do anything. Although, if you said to me, "this ice cream is pretty good," or "this show is very wholesome," or "may I please have more of this wonderful tea," that'd certainly be a nice bonus. It'd be a very nice bonus, indeed.
...Impossible, I know. It's okay. Don't worry about it; I was just being silly, hahaha.
...I'm not really sure why, because I was fine before. But at this moment, I can't seem to stop crying. Oh well. I'll be okay; I just need a sec...
Anyway. J and I continued on to Taiwan Noodle. Though the loss of the bird is very sad, it is still true that J was brave and got back in the airplane today, and I needed to eat, so... we went. We got lots of yummy things, and I took pictures for you, just in case you might like them...
Spicy pork wontons:
...These really aren't that spicy, which is very good because my body cannot handle capsaicin very well.
Pork soup dumplings:
These are my favorite; you can tell because I ate one before I thought to snap a picture for you - sorry about that. I love to put the vinegar on them. The ginger in the vinegar tastes good, too.
This is a roasted pork bun:
J got some kind of curry thing:
...And I got a sausage, pork belly, and steamed rice thing:
Still feeling somewhat listless, I wove together a little dragonfly out of straw wrappers and my chopsticks wrapper:
...Not really sure why I did that. I guess it was just because I was full, but J wasn't quite ready to go yet, and I needed something to do with my hands...
J needed pants, so after we ate, we went to a local thrift shop to find some. He found some. And I found a very pretty shirt; maybe I'll wear it tomorrow and take a picture.
When we got home, the area near out welcome mat, just outside the front door, had a couple blossoms lying there. Without thinking, I picked them up and brought them inside:
...I hope the cardinal is doing okay, wherever he is now.
Hey, Sephiroth? I'm pretty tired, and it's getting to be later in the evening, so... I'm going to watch The Zeta Project. And drink tea. And maybe have a little ice cream.
Please stay safe, okay? I can recover from the loss of the bird, but... I don't think I'll fare so hot if I end up losing you, understand? So please promise me you won't let anything bad happen to you, alright? Don't do something foolish like go where predators are or play chicken with cars, or anything metaphorically similar. Please. If I have to get on my hand and knees and beg you not to do stuff like that, I will. Please make good, gentle, compassionate choices, both with yourself and with other people. Promise?
I love you. I'll write again tomorrow.
Your friend, Lumine

One of the first posts I made about Fallout ever, before I made the sideblog and even before I started actively tagging for archive purposes, was a complaint about one of the Gen 3 Nick mods. I simply do not understand.
Me when I see art of Nick undamaged and clean looking: WHERE ARE HIS H O L E S
#cardinal sin in nick fic is sticking him in a gen 3 body exclusively for dick reasons#it's one thing if you wanna explore identity shenanigans and do whump#but 'im so sad i cant bang sole on account of my lack of appendage' bro there are other options it's literally fiiiine#if you're gonna stick him in a gen 3 it should be bc his body got trashed beyond repair#and so he can have another existential crisis about it#... and if you wanna comfort him with your body during this trying time well. he's still nick after all.#like I'm not saying don't DO it#but it's honestly so ooc for him to agree to get swapped over just so he's equipped yaknow#i have a post game au living rent free in my head where not only was his body destroyed he lost a chunk of his memory files#and sole is like. oh he barely knows me now. this is so so so fine. its not like we finally hooked up a week before this happened.#this is fine dot jpg

thomas lawrence truly the cardinal of all time. he hates himself and wants to die but is too english and catholic to commit to it. he crashes out 24/7 and is so so tired all the time. he has blue eyes and a receding hairline. he is going through a crisis of faith. everyone in the vatican needs to fuck him so bad and desires him carnally but he's none the wiser.

The official records of the proceedings of the parliaments of 1410 and 1411 provide more positive indications that this was indeed the case. Moreover, they contain a number of hints that the principal issue at stake was not so much the composition of the king’s Council as the political and constitutional position of the king himself in the light of his increasingly uncertain health and the attainment of maturity by his able and forceful heir-apparent. Early in the parliament of 1411, Henry IV informed Thomas Chaucer, the Speaker, that "il ne vorroit aucunement avoir nulle manere de novellerie en cest parlement, mais q’il vorroit estre et esteer en ses libertee et fraunchise auxi entierment et a large come aucunes de ses. . . progenitours." At the end of the parliament the king not only reiterated these sentiments at length, but annulled an article which had been drawn up in the parliament of 1410 and which was described on the Roll as the "restreint fait au darrein parlement". Then, in a petition presented by the Lords and Commons, it was stated that "graund murmur ad este en vostre poeple, que vous avez en vostre coer pesantee envers aucuns de voz lieges venuz . . . a cest Parlement, et a vostre darrein Parlement." Henry was asked to reassure the petitioners by declaring that he considered all those who had been involved in these two parliaments to be his faithful and loyal lieges. These statements imply beyond reasonable doubt that Henry believed that certain developments during the two years of the prince’s ministry had posed a very real threat to his prerogative, and that he needed to take positive action to forestall some new encroachment upon his authority. Though only one chronicle claims that there was an attempt to procure the king’s abdication in the parliament of 1411, it seems that something not much less dramatic was in men’s minds. When Henry spoke of ‘novelty’, he presumably expected his audience to have some idea of what he meant.
Furthermore, even without the hindsight provided by the record of 1411, there are a number of suggestions that Henry was unhappy about the change of ministry early in 1410, His delay of five weeks before appointing a successor to Arundel; the fact that the new chancellor, Thomas Beaufort, was not appointed until after the beginning of parliament; the appointment of Thomas rather than the more ‘obvious’ Henry Beaufort, who had already delivered the opening address to the parliament; the king’s stern reminder to the Commons that parliament had been called to serve the common good of the kingdom and to act in a spirit of unity; the delay in the naming of the new councillors; and the king's announcement that certain men were unwilling to serve on the new Council, may all have indicated that Henry was unable to conceal his reluctance to accept the political changes in which his eldest son figured prominently. And apart from the cryptic mention of the 'article of restraint', there are signs that the prince and his colleagues exercised, or attempted to exercise authority independently of the royal will, including, as will shortly be noted, in the critically sensitive field of foreign policy. Henry's reassertion of his authority in the parliament of 1411 appears to have foiled an attempt by the prince and his allies to regularize and strengthen the degree of control over public affairs which they had wrested from the reluctant king nearly two years earlier. The almost total failure of the chroniclers to provide the details necessary for a fuller understanding of the Parliament Roll's carefully veiled account of one of the most crucial sequences of events in the relations between Henry IV and his eldest son is certainly exasperating, but perhaps also significant. When, therefore, apparently independent sources state quite categorically that there was trouble between the king and Prince Henry in 1412, it may be assumed that the dissension was so openly aired and so well remembered that even writers well-disposed towards the prince felt obliged to record it. It is these accounts which might be expected to throw most light upon the political and personal stresses of the closing years of Henry IV's reign.
Peter McNiven, "Prince Henry and the English Political Crisis of 1412", History, vol. 65, no. 213 (1980)
(very rough translations of the French phrases:
il ne vorroit aucunement... : he in no way wanted to have any kind of novelty in this parliament but he would like to enjoy his freedom as fully as widely as previous parliaments.
restreint fait au darrein parlement: restricted to the previous parliament
graund murmur ad este...: a great murmur has come from your people that you have a heaviness in your heart towards some of your people, this is your parliament. )
