So.

I haven't posted a chapter in a while. I'm sorry guys. I haven't been in the mood to write. It's not writers block. I've just been down and feeling off. I have been trying to write something every night, even if it's a few sentences. I will have the house all to myself for the next 3 days and most of Sunday so hopefully I can get stuff done.

So here are some things @vikingsbifrost and I thought we needed in one post. I present Alex and this obsession.

WINNIE AND GEORGE NOTICING THAT STEVE PLAYS HIDING. Mikey I love you 🥲 and like, what if, George saw Steve hiding in one of the cupboards and went in to join him and Steve was really confused at first, but George just like picks him up and puts him on his lap and is like “oh are we hiding from Bucky?! Can I join?” And like smiling fondly at him and Steve just gets so overwhelmed with how sad he is about his family and also jealous of buckys and just starts crying, and George just tries to comfort him.

Idk why I let you hurt my feelings and then make it worse 🥲❤️💕

Maybe George comes home from work one day and passes by the dining room table on the way to hang up his jacket, then freezes because he notices little legs tucked up under the table. He bends down and finds a six year old Steve curled up underneath and he's like, "What're you doing down here?" with a kind, slightly bemused smile.

"Playin'," Steve says, pulling his knees up to his chest, because even though Bucky's pa always smiles real nice, he can't ever be certain 'bout dads.

George's face softens, and he puts his things on top of the dining room table. Getting to his knees, and ducks underneath.

"Can I join you?"

Steve shrugs, shoulders relaxing a bit. "If you wanna."

George crawls underneath, hunkering down next to Steve, and he's always worried a little about how nervous Steve seems to be. He and Winnie have discussed several times, and it's not like they can't guess what's going on between the bruises on Sarah's arms and the gauntness of Steve's frame. Every child deserves warmth, George thinks. And Sarah is a wonderful woman, but George's own father had been less than kind. He knows what kind of toll it can take on a mother. It was something he'd refused to put his own children through, and even though Steve isn't blood, he deserves the same kindness that Bucky and Becca get.

"What're we playing?" George asks, lowering his voice like it's a secret. Steve peeks at him, and presses back against the wall.

"Hide," Steve whispers.

"Hide? Is that the game?" Steve nods, and George continues. "Who are we hiding from?"

"The monster."

"Ohhh." George nods solemnly. "And is Bucky the monster?"

"This round, yeah," Steve says, and he lets his knees down, instead picking at a thread on his pants.

"Well, I think you picked a really clever hiding spot," George says, and Steve looks at him warily. Down the hall, they can hear Bucky's footsteps, and George winks at Steve, holding his fingers to his lips. Steve gives him a tiny smile, and holds his fingers to his lips, too.

A couple minutes later, Bucky bends down, laughing delightedly when he sees both Steve and George underneath.

"Dad! What're you doing hiding, too?"

"Steve let me join you all in playing," George says, crawling out and scooping Bucky up, flipping him upside down. Steve crawls out behind him, but doesn't get up from where he's sitting on the floor. Bucky shrieks, hitting George's stomach with tiny fists. "Ohhh caughtcha!"

"Daaaad, put me down!" Bucky giggles, and George smacks a kiss to his cheek before setting him straight on his feet. His smile falls when he sees Steve looking up at them, eyes ladened with jealousy.

Holding out his arms, George smiles. "You want a turn, Steve?"

Steve shrugs, then nods, scrambling to his feet. George scoops him up and spins him around a few times, making Steve shriek and laugh, too, and it sounds so goddamn delighted that it's a heartwrenching surprise when Steve is suddenly clinging to him, crying.

"Steve," George says, alarmed, shifting so he's holding him securely. "Did I hurt you?"

Steve shakes his head, squirming in his arms.

"What's wrong?" George asks, casting Bucky a reassuring look as he pulls out a chair from the dining room table and sits in it, Steve still clinging.

Steve shakes his head again, and George lets it be. It's not hard to guess what hurts in Steve's head, and he holds him close regardless, letting him take what he needs. Bucky shuffles over, hugging Steve, too. He'll always be safe in their house, George swears to himself.

               $  A big smile on the crustacean’s face. He knew that his old buddy didn’t really like having his family riled up, but they hadn’t seen each other in a while! And the crab was starting to miss him. He’ll deal with all of Plankton’s angry mumbling and grumbling if that means they can go hang out again! After all, they were the only two that understood eachother. Maybe not perfectly, but just enough to be considered close.

               $  Expression went soft. Claw is still behind back, perched against the back of his rag-dress. With a soft huff, the young boy lowered his voice. The other looked sorta sleepy!

               $  “  ---  Hey, Plankie! I guess I caughtcha while ye were sleepin’! Heh, sorry. Forgive a friend his loneliness...  “   greetings aside, Eugene jumps up with a perky smile. Both claws are behind back now, keeping the gift hidden from the other. Triangular body bends, leaning forward to meet Plankton almost eye-to-eye.
