Heart has a freak out and Soul gets punched </3

(I kinda hate this one but alas, more old Soul fic be upon ye)

Soul looked down at Heart with something akin to disappointment, the man shrinking in front of him like a wounded animal.

“You told me you’d get better!” Soul wanted to cry, shove Heart around just like he had done to Mind and pin the man to the wall with his fists. “You promised!”

Heart couldn’t get any words out, already starting to cry as fat tears fell down his cheeks, mixing with the blood running down his mouth.

“Soul I-“ he couldn’t speak as Soul let out a shaky groan of frustration, grabbing his hair with calloused fingers as he paced.

Mind sat on the floor awkwardly, almost scared to stand and compose himself. He looked at Soul with an unrecognizable look, using a hand to put pressure on his bleeding upper arm.

“You promised.” Soul repeated. “You lied to me.”

“I’m sorry- I’m so sorry!” Heart tried to plead, shaking and begging while trying to inch closer to his third who in turn stepped back with a disgusted sneer.

“I NEVER trust either of you!” Somehow Mind was roped into this, he narrowed his eyes. “And of course the one time I fucking do you throw it right back in my face immediately after! Why can’t you be normal Heart? Why can’t either of you be normal?!“

Soul paused for a moment, staring straight at Heart as anger clouded his thoughts.

“I fucking hate you!”

Oh. Did he really say that?

Everything paused, Hearts tears stopping just for a moment out of pure shock. Soul stared at him, and for once it was like the emotional side was staring right back.

“I-“ Soul was interrupted almost immediately, Heart barreling into him and shoving the man a few paces from where he previously stood.

“Normal? Fucking normal?”

This was new. He can’t remember the last time Heart had directed his anger towards him. The switch up took him by surprise, the stars stumbling backwards on unsteady feet as all of his anger was turned into shock.

“I can’t be normal when my Mind is an egotistical freak and my Soul is an unappeasable piece of shit!” Heart shoved him again, Soul hit the wall with a loud thud, causing the picture frames overhead to rattle. “We can’t be normal Soul, not if we’re connected to something like you!”

Heart started to ball his right hand into a fist, Soul staring back wide eyed and dazed.

“Heart-“ Mind tried to reason, but a loud smack cut him off as Heart hit Soul square in the eye. He fell back sharply, his gaze blurry trying to focus on the blue and purple shapes In front of him while one screamed and the other struggled to stand. A large picture on the wall fell down to the floor with a shatter, casting small shards of glass all over Souls crumpled form.

“You can’t hate me!” Heart cried. “I’m you!”

He reared back for another punch, trying to aim for the jaw before Mind grabbed his fist harshly.

“Heart that’s enough.”

Heart writhed and hissed in his grasp, for the first time in his life fighting off Mind with intention to get away rather than harm.

“No! He hates us!” Heart snapped as spit and tears flew to the ground, Soul staring up at him in a daze. “You’re a fucking hypocrite! You’re no better than me!”

Soul tried to blink away the fogginess.

“I hate you! I hate you I hate you!”

Mind had to haul the moon away, hugging tightly onto his body as he kicked and screamed. Soul could only kneel there, staring at the ground as angry snarls turned into desperate wails.

“Why do you always pick his side? Can’t you see that he’s a liar? He’s never loved us!” Heart tried to get Mind into letting him go, scratching effortlessly against metal arms. The Sun said nothing, looking away.

“I can’t help it! I can’t help that I broke my promise!” Heart began to curl in on himself, Mind shoving him away in an act of disgust once he deemed him no longer a threat. “You’re impossible to please! Whole made me the way I am and you punish me for it!”

Soul let out shaky breathes, finally looking up at his other halves. Heart crumpled to the floor, making a scene as he sobbed. Mind watched Soul with calculated eyes, too disgusted to make eye contact.

Soul felt the throbbing pain in his head, the heat around his eye stinging his senses into overdrive as Mind left quietly and Heart eventually scrambled away after him.

Everything hurt. Soul blinked, staring at the glass beneath him and the broken picture frame a few feet away. He reached for it slowly, holding it in his hands. It was a family picture, all three of them smiling into the camera. Back when Heart still had his sight and Mind wasn’t half robot. Soul stifled a sob, tracing the broken glass and realizing the largest shatter was covering his own face.
