Ranking the bosses of Origami King

I have stated many many MANY times that Origami King is my favorite Paper Mario, hell, one of my favorite games of all time. And if some lunatic waltzes into my house and gives me a choice of either liking TTYD or die, I’d rather be dead. But what’s the worst and best boss in the game? Today, we’re gonna rank all the bosses in Origami King. Also, it is recommended that you finish the game to view this post, cause this is a spoiler zone.

17. The Shifty Sticker, Tape

The most annoying and unfun boss to cap off a great tribute to Wind Waker fans, all the positives Tape got was having a bopping as hell music and a really great 1st phase. But that’s where the positives end, cause the 2nd phase is where it all goes downhill. Tape glues parts of the ring meaning you can’t slide panels and some parts of the rings are connected together. And when a lot of tapes are in the ring at once, it’s pretty annoying. And this may just be me, but when there’s too much tape in the arena, Tape straight up gobbles up the tape in the arena to restore HP and it is annoying as fudge. Oh and did I mention that to damage this boss, you’re forced to use the 1000 fold arms? And did I mention that any other form of offense is next to useless? Needless to say, this is one of the worst bosses I’ve had the pain to endure.

16. The Freezing Finisher, Ice Vellumental

The first phase of Snowy The Bear over here is surrounded by an icy forcefield and you must use the Fire Vellumental to melt down his barrier which is, pretty alright for a first phase (I mean your sliding is not locked this time so that’s a plus), but then, there’s Ice Maze to make up for all that fun. For those of you unknowing fools out there, Ice Maze is an ability of this guy where large parts of the arena are covered in ice, and the only way to get through it is find a way to the Action Panel or an active Fire Vellumental Magic Circle without being frozen so you (kinda) won’t have to endure his greatest attack, Ice Age. Problem is, that even for me, who has a strong memory, I can’t seem to solve it. Why this is less dreaded than Tape for me despite the monotony is that you can kinda cheese it without Fire Vellumental. By collecting coins, you can stock on Shiny Fire Flowers and basically fireball this boss to death (and they said coins are useless). Even so fuck this fight man.

15. The Blazing Bird, Fire Vellumental

This phoenix right here is possibly the smartest of the Vellumentals. Why is that, you ask? Easy. He lets you damage yourself. Using his special move, Hot Wings, he basically spreads his own wings (which takes a chunk of his health) and lets you damage yourself until you reach an Action Panel. Once you’re in the Action Panel, use your Iron Boots and jump the shit outta him until his feathers are all/almost gone. Then, use Water Vellumental to shower it to its doom, and lastly, for the coup de grace, pull off his hair and humiliate him in front of a bunch of Toads. The only reason this chicken wing is higher is because jumping him with Iron Boots is as fun, if not more fun than using the Fireballs to cheese the Ice Vellumental.

14. The Apocalyptic Abomination, Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle

By far the most gruesome thing in Paper Mario franchise, it starts off with you hammering the Dry Bone heads it spews out using Kamek’s magic. Then, after enough heads were smashed, Kamek reveals himself and you have to pull him outta the beetle’s nose which is more satisfying than it should be. And then after that, you smash him in the gut 4 times to win. Needless to say, it had its moments.

13. The Elastic Entertainer, Rubber Band

4 numbers later and we are back to the Legion Of Stationary. This time, it’s Rubber Band. While I can see why people like this boss, keep in mind I’m doing all these on a no Game Over run, which makes the boss less fun for me. The Bumper Bands are a mere nuisance, but get caught in Rubber Bind and kiss your health goodbye. Solo Snapback isn’t much better either, for that attack, pray you have a 1 Up left or at the very least can endure that attack or say goodbye to your health. However, despite doing this on a no Game Over run is hell, why is it this high though? you may ask, well, simply put, the Rubber Bands are better projectiles than the Hot Wings, Icicles, and Tape combined.

12. The Chaotic Cactus, Mega Paper Macho Pokey

Tower Power Pokey is back, but this time, he’s made some changes to the battlefield. Now, instead of fighting in some egyptian temple, you fight him inside of a tornado. This segmented spiky monstrosity has 3 attacks. Creating tornadoes, stalking you from underground, and trying to squash you with its body. This time, to defeat him, instead of using some Baseball Bat sticker bullshit, you must wait until his glow fades and approach him with the Boot Car so you can deliver the smackdown. And, pro tip : if I were you, I wouldn’t get caught in the twisters.

11. The Groundshaking Gut-Slammer, Earth Vellumental

God to all Koopas, the Earth Vellumental is pretty fun for a tutorial boss. You use your hammers to smash its limbs till eventually you hit its tender tail, and it’s more fun than it had any right to be. Once the tail is pounded to perfection, flip it with your 1000 fold arms and smack the living daylights out of it.

10. The Trial Of Toughness, Scuffle Island Boss Rush

An optional boss accessible in Chapter 4, the Scuffle Island Boss Rush is fun for a miniboss rush. You get 7 tough Paper Macho opponents ; Goomba, Shy Guy, Koopa, Boo, Paratroopa, Stone Spike, and Buzzy Beetle, each bearing 2 more hitpoints than the ordinary Paper Macho enemies and having a large attack boost. It’s a test of learning the patterns of the Paper Machos and is way more fun than it has any right to be. Although the Paratroopa did gave me some troubles, like, seriously, if you beat this guy’s 1st phase without a guide, you’re a pro.

9. The Stormy Guardian, Boss Sumo Bro

A clever reference to NSMBU and Super Mario World, Boss Sumo Bro stands on his mighty thundercloud at first, until you take out his goonies. Then, once you’re done with his goons, he’ll charge up his unblockable Mega Thunder attack and to stop it, you must use the Fire Vellumental to take him down. It’s admittedly pretty fun.

8. The Missile Maestro, Colored Pencils

One of the most fun tutorial bosses, Colored Pencils has a simple but really fun 1st phase. You have to close its lid to pull off a Fire Vellumental, and on the 2nd phase, it gets better. You have to use his Rainbow Roll against him and smack the living daylights out of him. It’s a great boss, buut problem is, it’s a tutorial boss. It had not much of a chance to make it to the top 5. 

7. The Final Destination, Paper Plane Strike Force

This game consists of you shooting a bunch of Bob Ombs to pave the way to the final level of the game Origami Castle, which is, much sadder than it may seem. It’s fun as heck shooting down the paper planes, and the Squadron where you have to shoot like a million Bob Ombs to its face is by far personally the most fun part of the game. Why it’s this low is that it’s one of the 2 non-rematchable bosses. Once you’ve gotten to Origami Castle, this minigame won’t be accessible anymore.

6. The Submarine Sinker, Water Vellumental

This overhydrated water dragon is one of the more strategic bosses. You must take note of the water twisters and prevent them from getting in your way of making it to the Action panel to jump him and hit him with the hammer. And then, once he’s gonna blow, make your way to the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle to dodge his Mega Wave attack, which is pretty powerful. It’s personally one of the more fun bosses this game had to offer. It’s not in the top 5 since the water twisters can be pretty annoying though I never had a problem with them personally.

5. The Disco Devil, Hole Punch

The groovy lobotomiser’s 1st phase is pretty annoying, you have to find his tender spot to deal decent damage to him, while having a reduction in health,  but slamming the ever loving shit outta him when he tried to pull off his special attack is fun as hell. It makes up for the horrid 1st phase. And pulling off the rubber case as the finisher is waaayyy more fun than it needs to be. Also the music is a freaking jam.

4. The Tentacley Terror, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper

This Mario Sunshine nostalgia fest is hella fun. The 1st phase has you hammering his tentacles which is way more fun than it should be, and the 2nd phase has you hammering his eye, which is, again, way more fun than it should be. This boss is just really, REALLY fun.

3. The Dual Bladed Duelist, Scissors

One of the harder and more intense bosses, Scissors’ first phase is putting on a case for his blades for the sake of a fair fight, but once that’s done, it’s all intense, bloodpumping action from here. Scissors will use his unblockable special attack, Final Cut, and you must time your jumps to prevent an instant KO. I felt a strong urge of satisfaction when jumping over Scissors’ special attack countless times, it’s not even a laughing matter.

2. The Roshamboa, Handaconda

The first phase has you hammering him to get Olivia out of its grasp, and then, the 2nd phase is where the true fun begins. The Magic Circles are swapped with panels with images of Rock, Paper and Scissors and you must observe his hand patterns to get a chance to rush attack him with the 1000 fold arms. It feels so satisfying when you beat him in Roshambo and smash the living daylights out of him.

1. The Royal Rebel, King Olly

One of the best final bosses of all time, Olly is a culmination of what you have learned throughout your journey. The 1st phase consist of you retracing the weaknesses of the Vellumentals and using it against them, the 2nd phase consists of you slamming the ground to give Origami Bowser a helping hand in dealing the semi finishing blow towards Duraludon Olly, and the final phase has you fixing a jumbled up Giant Magic Circle while Olly bombards you with attacks that lead to quicktime events that are way more fun and dramatic than they had any right to be. Needless to say, Olly is the best boss in the Origami King.

Steve and Bucky have been a item since kindergarten and nothing has changed. Sure their older and they no longer needed yo hide it,but the love hasn’t faded a bit. The only time they questioned their relationship was when a shield against walked into the base and saved them all on her own. Y/n is a last call agent and that means when shit really hits the fan and not even the best can handle it she swoops in to finish the job. Seeing agent L/n is a rarity and they’ll never admit it,but they’ve been taking riskier missions to see her. “Mr.Rogers and Mr. Barnes you’re needed in the meeting room. Immediately.” The Irish voice brought them out of their slumber. Steve was the first to get dressed and in the briefing room and froze up getting pushed forward by Bucky.

There she stood next to Fury in all of her glory. The blonde’s throat went dry as she made eye contact with him as he looked down at her lips and saw they were moving,but the captain’s mind was to preoccupied with how her uniform was instead replaced with causal clothes that fit oh so well. It was Nick’s voice that snapped him out of it. “Roger…Barnes take a seat.” He said nodding towards the table. Both of them sat next to each other in the closest chairs.

“We need to speak to you about resent missions. It’s clear to me that not only has success levels dropped,but that your team is unable to work flawlessly.” The dark skinned man said. Steve was about to defend himself and the others,but was cut of by Y/n as she stepped forward to speak. “That’s why I Captain Roger’s is joining the team as your superior. ” Her voice caused the duo to freeze. Bucky was the first to get up. “Welcome to the team,doll.” He said kissing her hand with a smirk. This was the start of something great.

TWO Months later~

It’s been two months since Y/n joined the team and to say it was crazy was a understatement on its own. Her mind was often clouded by thoughts of the two super soldiers,but doubt and denial soon chase them off. The 40’s men are together and are open about their relationship she didn’t stand a chance. Y/n was so confused with her friendship with them both. Bucky was a flirt and always would throw a pickup line followed by a sweet pet name. Steve was the complete opposite he was shy blushing whenever they were in a room together,but he showed that school boy crush vibe by the drawing her and rambling when he’s caught.

Y/n couldn’t be falling for both of them she’s work so hard to get where she was today and that alone got her more hate then love. So admitting her love to them was definitely not an option. What if they regretted her? Their work and personal relationships will be destroyed. What if the media found out? Reporters almost disbanded the Avengers on multiple occasions and almost had the two soldiers benched with the anti-lgbtq+ community which was a hefty amount.

She hated to do it,but she tapped into her training and shut of her emotions and boy did they notice that. Bucky walked up to her as she was hitting the punching bag. “Woah,doll. Punch that bag any harder I would think you’re trying to hit on me.” He said with a smirk within seconds it went away when he didn’t hear a snarky come back or even a giggle. The brunette looked closer and saw she wasn’t wearing ear buds of any kind. ‘Is she just ignoring me?’ He thought to himself. It stared that way for a week before he went to talk to Steve.

Steve wasn’t having much luck either. Whenever he tried to talk her he was shot down and every picture her drew for Y/n ended up back in his room within hours of dropping it off. She was cutting them out of her life faster then they could react. Now they only saw her in mission briefing not even the missions themselves anymore. The other members didn’t notice a change in her behavior towards them,but they did see the emotional shut down towards the 40’s men. “What did you two do?” The flaming redhead asked them alone.

“We didn’t do anything! She just started to ignore us and acts as if she doesn’t even know us.” Bucky defended himself and his husband just as lost as everyone else. “Can you talk to her Nat? You guys are best friends she’ll open up to you.” Steve suggested causing the women to sigh and nod. “Whatever we talk about it will stay between us. She’ll tell you when she feels like it.” She stated and held up her hand when they tried to deny. Natasha turned around and walked off to the agents floor to talk.

The ex assassin knocked on the door not even waiting for a response before going in. There sat Y/n drying off her hair with a towel. “Oh hey,Nat. Did you need something?” She asked the women looking at her through the mirror. “Just some questions.” She said with a serious undertone causing the h/c women to turn around. “About?” L/n was no dummy she knew a interrogation when she saw one. “Buck and Steve.” Y/n tried her best not to sigh as she nodded. “What about them?” She played dumb avoiding the question as much as possible. “About how one minute your all heart eyes for them then it like you don’t know them!” Natasha snapped causing her friend to run her face. Her feels for them were so obvious Nat saw it a mile away.

“That’s the problem Nat. I shouldn’t be giving both parties of the happily married couple heart eyes! It’s not right their my best friends I shouldn’t feel this way.” Her throat felt dry with her confession. “And who told you that load of crap?” The Russian rolled off her tongue with a venomous hissed. “At the party two weeks ago. This group of women I guess saw the way Bucky flirted with me and how Steve blushed when I complained him. When I went to the bar they came up to me asking all these questions and saying all these horrible things about them…”

This party started of not so crazy,but leave it to Tony Stark to get the music bumping to max level and people to get drunk of their asses to match that energy. I was wearing a dress,but I wasn’t in just casual clothes either. Bucky stood to my left his voice was coming out clear enough for me to hear. “If the music didn’t beat me to it I would have knocked you off your feet!” He flirted causing me to covet my mouth so I didn’t spit the [f/d] on the floor. “Buck stop your gonna make me choke.” I coughed a bit heat immediately rushed to my cheeks at the wiggle of his eyebrows. “Get you mind out of the gutter,James!” I said as I smoked his shacking shoulders.

Steve bushed up against my side as he slid back into his place to my right. “Sorry n/n that I had to leave you to soon. Sam wanted a rematch at pool.” He said with a sheepish smile. “Did you beat his ass again?” I asked with a grin. He rubbed the back of his neck looking down. “Well…he’s not the one fifty dollars richer.” This caused me to laugh and give him a peck on the cheek a light lipstick mark left in its place followed by red blush. “I’ll never doubt you again Mr.America.” The smile on my face not faltering as a tap on on my shoulder made me turn around. “Wheres my cheek kiss,doll?” Bucky faked a pout. “None for you,hun, just for Stevie.” With that the pout intensified with a small giggle I bring my drink to my lips only to be met by nothing. “I’m out you boy’s want anything?” They both shook their heads their glasses still decently filled with asgardian ale.

The bar was open not many people their since most of them were trying to get in Tony’s good graces or his pants one of the two. Leaning on the bar next to a small group of middle aged women no older then forty conversed loudly next to me. “God did you see the arms on Thor?! If I wasn’t a married woman.” The youngest in the little click said in a lustful daze. “Those super soldiers though are something else.” I wasn’t able to tell who said that,but all of their eyes turned to the duo. “You know their married to each other right?” I’m not a nosy person,but dammit I had listen in. “I think it’s just a front. Why would the symbol for America a fag?! Their just probably covering up the fake that their sharing that slut that’s been seen on the team. What was get name?” The clear leader said and it pissed me the fuck off.

Harshly tapping on her shoulder she turned around and her eyes widened to match the size of dinner plates. “Hi,the names Y/n L/n or as you said ‘slut’ also known as…” I said with a smile that made the women shiver,but she cut me off. “T-that’s not w–what I meant!!!” She shuddered,but I held up my hand. “I wasn’t finished introducing myself. As I was say known as the most deadly assassin with the largest kill count in the world. So unless you want to live your pathetic life to it’s natural end I suggest you and your posy take a hike.” With a slight lift of my blouse I reveal a handgun along with so knifes. “Off you go.”

Without hesitation they all ran of not even caring that some of them were tripping up on their cheap heels. “What was that about?” Looking at the redhead behind the bar I give a convincing smile. “They had to leave. Lives they wanted to live.” With that I left without a drink and to my floor. It didn’t bother me in the moment,but her words sunk in. Did the public really see me like that? It was already hard when the great Captain America came out as bisexual to the world that had a closed mind. The thoughts made me think if I remove myself the picture all together and slow I did. First we didn’t hang out as much,then I started making myself more busy with solo missions, then last week it was just getting to hard so I tapped into emotional disconnection training.

“And it was working I think it’s best they’re a item and I’m that third wheel. It’s just better for me to leave them be.” Y/n finished speaking with her hands rubbing the tears that ran down her cheek. Somehow they were on the bed now and Nat was rubbing her back in soft circles. “Oh, n/n. Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want.” She said in all honesty. Natasha saw the way the boys were acting the first time they say her best friend after they were striped of their weapons and restrained in a hydra base they say her in a different light then she saw herself.

The redhead assassin stood up and kneeled in front of her. “Talk to them. The three of you are adults sure their a little stuck in the 40’s,but their moving along with the times. You think Steve knew what bisexuality was he was conflicted so just explain to them about how you feel.” Nat said holding her friends face in her hands rubbing her cheeks with her thumbs. “You got this. Don’t let those judgmental assholes,but you down.” With that she stood up and left. It was time for action and possible rejection…how fun!

The super soldiers stayed on their shared floor for hours stressed. What the hell did they do to drive her away?! Were they coming on to strong?Not strong enough and their stuck in the friend zone. Oh God. Steve sat on the couch while Bucky paced in front of him they were about to break the silence that fell before them,but was immediately cut off by the ding of the elevator. Y/n walked out once the metal doors opened and was greeted by the sight of them before her. She cleaned herself up after her talk with Nat not wanting her appearance to give away anything was wrong. “Hello,boys. I normally would want to be woken up from a nightmare,but it seems I walked in on a daydream.” She said with a smile as she sauntered over trying to seem more confident then she felt.

Y/n didn’t even get a response as she was pulled into a giant hug from them. ���Doll we’ve missed you so much!” Buck was the first to pull away. “Hey!!! Cheesy pickup lines are my thing.” He said with a smirk. “I couldn’t let you have all the fun,handsome.” Everything felt so much better talking to them the mindless flirting it was just so right. “W-what happened?” Steve was the one to ask the question I was honestly dreading. “That party just someone said something that got me thinking. How can a girl like me ever get not one,but two guys like you to love me?” Y/n looked down at the floor. “I mean…first I appear out of nowhere, take Steve’s role as captain,and get cozy with two super soldiers the married couple. No wander the public seems me in such a light.” A hand gasped her cheek lifting her face up to look into beautiful blue eyes.

Steve looked into her gorgeous e/c eyes with hope. “You love us, n/n?” He asked wanting to make sure he heard right. She gave a wet chuckling as rears slipped past her eyes. “I just gave you reasons to hate me and that’s all you get out of it?!” Y/n sniffles as she brings hers to wipe her eyes. “Cause that’s all that mattered. Why should you give a shit what they think when we can tell you now that we both feel the same way about you.?” This caused the agent to freeze up. “Y-you both l-love me?!?” She didn’t know if it was a question to them or herself. “Of course we do,doll. You’re strong enough to give us a run for our money,more intelligent then the two brainiacs in the lab,so much sass it renders Stark speechless, everything about you is perfect to us. You are literally everything we ever wanted since we were kids.”

Y/n was now chocked up by happy tears as she looked into the two sets of blue eyes that held nothing,but love. “What do you want?” A smile graced her lips as she brought both of them into a kiss each equal as passion. “All I want is to be yours. Both of yours is what I want.”

There's one where Jinwoo is a yandere for reader in an AU similar to Esper-Guide universe but twisted a bit. No regression, everything is in the current timeline where strong Hunters will go haywire from their overwhelming mana levels. Then there's an institute that basically imprisions those high-ranking Hunters to use them when the time comes. Reader is a special ranked worker there and caught Jinwoo's attention.

Hi! I wanna try this Solo Leveling request which could potentially become a story! If you don’t like it, could you at least tell me why deny it?

Anyway, Jinwoo x Fem Alternate-Universe Shadow Monarch Reader Platonic! Jinwoo accidentally stumbles onto an alternate reality where instead of him being favored by the System and gaining shadow-like powers, a young girl around Jinah’s age does so. Although kind, far too polite and shy outside of battle, when in battle, she’s all serious, merciless, and her brain goes overdrive thinking up strategies, weaknesses, etc. She’s still strong physically but far more weaker physically and in terms of experience compared to Jinwoo. In exchange, her greatest strength is more for her intelligence and as a tactician, spotting minor things that could be weaknesses, taking the environment in consideration to her advantage, finding loopholes, and fighting alongside her Shadows for combo attacks, so she could be intellectually smarter than Jinwoo.

If possible, I would find it interesting if like if Igris is Jinwoo’s knight, Fem S/O’s knight could be Baruka, that ice elf Jinwoo failed to resurrect as one of his Shadows. She probably won by outsmarting him and his clan with her own army. Fem S/O could be like Jinwoo, considered an E-Rank when she is at least an A-Rank or close to being S-Rank herself but she prefers nobody find that out and will try making that her secret like using a magic item to hide her stats in case someone tries to analyze her with some skill. Plus this way, she can be sneaky and everyone will underestimate her until it’s too late.

What’s sad is that Fem S/O had been mistreated by others her whole life, by her abusive family who believe she’s pathetic and ugly when she’s at least average pretty, bullied by students at school with the teachers looking the other way, nobody helping her at all thus S/O never receiving any love. She’s even kicked out and forced to live in a tent in a forest (like Tohru from Fruit Basket) when she had first awakened and wanted to save her money from adventuring instead of handing it all to her parents. The general setting is that Choi Jong-In and Reader/you gave different majors in college/university but have a lot of common core subjects or just picked the same electives to be grouped together. Or you guys could be in the same one, doesn't really matter in this case.

It's not mentioned but I imagine him in some sort of business or lawyer major. Then I didn't want to restrict your major choice cause (again) there's no significance.

Anyways. Back to the benefits of the fake relationship.

First and foremost is the obvious protection against love confessions for either of you. Both of you are smart, talented, and a fine specimen, so who wouldn't want to have a chance? Think of a contractual love relationship. Since you had your past memories, you know Jong-In never saw you as anything more than a friend, and that fact carried to the current life. So you were relieved to not have serious romantic issues, at least until you were ready (until Jinwoo came along that is).

Other benefits include a guaranteed groupmate. Study buddy was a given since you two were childhood friends and you two tutor each other, even though you had your past experience and memory, you still need to hard work and study.

Now why I say guranteed groupmate. Guys, have you seen couples in college/uni? They are mostly together and people assume they would be grouped together if they were in the same course. How's that important? Grades and it's less of a headache when one is dealing with an unfamiliar person. Two people on the same page aiming for a good grade are bound to be good. (plus you get to have Jong-In do all the work, joking... or am I?)

Giving test answers… Is there a need? One, you guys could be in different courses. Two, you're smart in your own right. Then again, you could be lazy and just decide to copy cause why not?

But you gotta remember, you two are childhood friends and best friends already. The fake coupe thing is just a front against crazy crushes (and stalker *cough cough* for *cough* Jong-In). There are a lot of things you two have done together and for each other at this point. It's not like you two got into a fake relationship cause. It's because you two were close friends to begin with, that's how both of you tolerated the romantic performance you two gave to an outsider.

So under no circumstance would you develop romantic feelings for him and he wouldn't to you.

Of course, they're not always preforming or doing tricks as they know how to fight and are good at giving advice and criticizing Jin woo when needed.. or not deeded. Otherwise they're just a silly jester happily wandering around the shadow realm, often telling jokes and stories to some of the inhabitants of the shadow realm when they meet.

Back to the attitude of Reader/you. I guess at the moment it appears that way since it's up to Arc 2. Though thinking that it would stay that way is where you're wrong~ (I mean, this is a slowburn type of story) Yay~ This is perfect to explain a bit and I'll keep the spoilers to a minimum.

From part 5, it's already hinted that Monarch!Reader (aka you) have known the Shadows and have a hold on Ashborn's army. Now keep this one in mind first while we go over the attitude part.

It's obvious that you are starting to warm up in some way and accepting Jinwoo as the successor of Ashborn instead of some vessel to be occupied. Accepting that Ashborn was letting go of the world conquest in a way and the ongoing battle with the Rulers.

Another major part in part 5 is that you are showing vulnerability. Opposite to the persona you have been showcasing to Jinwoo, you were just as weak on the inside as you clung to the figure(s) that made you human. However, as vulnerable as you are, you still couldn't follow through with giving yourself up like Ashborn has and that's where your 'monarch' traits appear. You are cruel, heartless, and indifferent to anything that didn't catch your interest/fancy. You showed that to Jinwoo.

Believe it or not, the banters you have with Jinwoo about Hae-In was you warming up to him and you 'protecting' what you have. It's ironic that you want Ashborn to return as soon as possible but you have been slowly easing into siding by Jinwoo's side. You're greedy and you want both in a way. Yet when things come to pass, Ashborn outweights Jinwoo because he is human. A human that would one day die and leave you. Jinwoo would move on while you are staying still. Even with the overwhelming powers he has now, he was only human. That's why you only showed your obsession with Ashborn's return, clinging onto Jinwoo was a lost cause. You knew more than you let on, you knew nothing about Jinwoo's growing obsession and possessiveness over you because it was something you didn't care. How you protected yourself was being a pain to Jinwoo. The disrespect, the shouting, the scolding, the wanting to get away from him. It's all to protect your fragile self. You wanted back the familiarity you had before.

In Arc 3, the transition of defensive you to accepting will be shown, solifying you being by Jinwoo's side. And Arc 4~ Ohh~ That one should be fun.

Now for the Shadows and original army. Well, if you guys didn't get it from part 5. It's foreshadowing that you will be responsible for opening that massive gate over the city and preparing for Jinwoo to have more allies. You played a hand in hiding the army away from the other Monarchs while waiting for Ashborn to pick a vessel to return. Of course, there's the whole thing with Jinwoo but he's worthy now so... The real army will be returned to the Shadow Monarch.

Let's do a bit of trivia with the Shadows, yeah?

Igris: Obviously knew you already when he was with Ashborn long before Jinwoo. After being in Jinwoo's service, it was a matter of time before you two reunited. He saw how you were protecting yourself from Jinwoo and wanted his old lord back. He could sympathize, in a way. But he also accepted Jinwoo as the new Monarch. He didn't force you to accept, but let it play out. He'll sometimes help you get a breather from Jinwoo in the early days of you being forced to join Jinwoo's side. Beru: While he hasn't appeared in the story as much. He is hostile towards you because you berated his King constantly as someone to be replaced and forgotten. Though, as much as he wanted to give you an attitude, he couldn't. Not because Jinwoo tolerated it but due to the oppressive aura you'd exerted. It minds him of Jinwoo being mad and murderous, but you exerted that so casually that his instincts screamed at him not to get on your bad side. His view of you change after you had easily defeated Hae-In because that woman got on his nerves. In his (and the other Shadows) mind, you were the one rightfully supposed to be by Jinwoo's side as a significant other. All kings need their queen, and you hold that position. If you weren't called to be Hae-In's opponent and he was (basically the original storyline), then he would have attempted to actually kill Hae-In for trying to take your place by his master's side. The other Shadows: They saw that Jinwoo was getting more and more touchy-feely with you and they do their best to help. Their lord was strong and you were strong, it was a perfect match up!

Overall... Your attitude towards Jinwoo is slowly beginning to change to the point that the Jinwoo x Reader moments are coming up. So do wait for those~~

Hi! I would like to request an idea for enemy reader x sung jinwoo.

It would be a soulmate au with the reader being one of the monarchs jinwoo intends to kill. I really like the idea of the reader being on the receiving end of his wrath and brutality to suddenly becoming under his protection and affection. I would also like for cha hae-in and the other monarchs to be a major obstacle towards their relationship. It doesn’t have to be a soulmate au. I just can’t think of a reason for them to become close other than jinwoo getting close to the reader without them knowing that they are a monarch (that could probably be a different fic though). However I want jinwoo to know that they are falling for an enemy and prefer the reader being his soulmate for this unless you can come up with an alternative solution. The reader will develop feelings but think they’re one sided until the end. Jinwoo not showing his feelings until the end due to not wanting the monarchs to become suspicious. Fluff will ensue at the end as jinwoo tries to show the reader that he does love them as reader is not used to it after being under his ire for so long (walking eggshells around him).

Let me just @deputy-videogamer so they know I answered they ask in a way. Cause their ask was similar to the first one I got.

Anywho~~ The first ask one is a bit confusing but I was the gist of what's up. I changed it a bit so not totally 100% like what you guys wanted, up to you if you wanna read though.

What if instead, of soulmate AU, it’s Sung Jinwoo going yandere for the enemy. A bit OOC (out of character) is Jinwoo is obsessed with strength and growing stronger. After knowing someone could give Monarchs power boost and seen Enemy Monarch!Reader in action making the Monarchs and Ashborn more powerful, he think having Enemy Monarch!Reader around is better than killing them. For some reason, Reader is keen on welcoming back Ashborn and never sees Jinwoo for what he does. At first, he was fine with using this to make Reader stay by his side. But slowly, Jinwoo wants Reader to see him as him and he takes over the System and Ashborn (not knowing that Ashborn already named Jinwoo as his successor and has entrusted Reader to Jinwoo’s care). Jinwoo fights against the other Monarchs so no one will take his love away from him. With Reader present, maybe… he doesn’t need to turn back time? Or does he?

Ongoing Series

For now, the next story on the update list is {Shadow and Void}'s arc 4 with 4 parts. It's coming out this week or so, with one day gaps in between. There are 2 more arcs before an epilogue that marks the completed end of this series. Some parts are written and need tuning, and some parts are not done at all.

The poll for {Inhuman Among Humans} was just up and will last for 1 week, then some more writing, so it might not be updated for this month. Next month, a definite yes. 4 parts have been written (all are reader's development and around 2500+ to 3000 something words). After polls are in, more parts will be drafted, tuned, and completed for posting.

{Never Meant To Be} has a part 2 written, but still angst at the moment. Not sure about posting yet, cause it looks like there's going to be a part 3 to me and idk if some details would be changed. I personally planned for this to be a oneshot and angst end, so a bit hard to tune it into a good end like {Love Trial} (that one was planned for a good end from the start).

Another ask about this AU. There’s quite a few topics to discuss here. Let’s break it down~

What happens during an <Outrage>?

In simple terms of this, it basically is them going berserk. Essentially, they start by letting their emotions run wild and their mana levels are affected, hence <Outrage> happens. They lose all sense of reasoning and destroy anything in their path, friend or foe, loved ones or enemies, influential people or beggars. Anyone and anything can and will be a target so long as they are near that Hunter going <Outrage>, no exception.

How does it end? Before EMI was established, the Hunter will tired themselves out and fall into a sleep-like state, similar to Eternal Slumber, but they are not dead, just vulnerable. This is a situation where no Hunters come to stop them. If there was, expect the targeted Hunter to be causing equally a number of harm but if the Hunters that came to strong them are stronger, there’s a high chance the target will die. After the EMI was established, workers on site will forcefully make the Hunter empty out their mana and force them into a sleep-like state where they will then be transported for experimentation (the workers will not care if the Hunter survives or not). Now, more often than not, cases of <Outrage> is prevented and maintained in safe areas.

What exactly happened to Thomas Andre?

Let’s get one thing clear. He never went on an <Outrage> episode. If he did, I think half the world is dead. But people believed he did because he faked it. He set up a whole scene where common <Outrage> incidents would happen and played everyone like fools. Since he was a National Level Hunter, he was already marked as a danger when the <Outrage Incidents> started happening all around. 

Some of his S-Rank Hunters in his guild were requested and demanded to submit to the government by the EMI’s orders. His powers and authority protected them, but then he was also demanded to step down and follow the EMI’s rules. I think you guys can guess what happened.

Thomas faked his episode and chased everyone away from the state. His guild knew what was going on so it was a major rebellion. Then Thomas declared to own the entire country (America), thus creating a haven for high ranking S-Ranks.

America now has the highest number of S-Rank Hunters because som S-Ranks from other countries didn’t want to adhere to the EMI rules, so they went to Thomas and he protected them.

As for the other National Level Hunters…

I recall there’s also Liu Zhigang, Christopher Reed, and Siddharth Bachchan? The last one is a healer I think, not named as far as I know. 

Zhigang stayed in his country, China, and made a deal with them cause China is the rare country that didn’t bow to the EMI, only doing transactional deals. So he’s safe from those experiments and being a lab rat.

Christopher is secluded and in his isolated mansion without contact, if he steps foot out, he’ll be captured by the EMI. The reason being because the EMI considers unique cases of whether a Hunter would be likely to cause harm, since Chrisopher isn’t as involved, they let him stay as he is.

Not much info on Siddharth, so I can’t say for sure. I think they died at some point too? After protecting others. So I’ll just go with that. They were protecting the Hunters that were targetted by the EMI and died during it, hence why the EMI was so feared and why Thomas faked his <Outrage> to protect his people.

Anyways, back to your questions.

Jinho and Jinchul are still alive and kicking, not forced to stay in the facility.

I'll start with Jinho cause he's easier. He is a D-Rank Hunter, so his chances of <Outrage> are slim to none, the same goes for B-Rank and below. A-Ranks are in a unique situation, but more on that when we talk about Jinchul.

Now as for Jinho's relationship with Jinwoo. They still know each other. Their relationship only got cut off before Jinwoo went to have his rank re-evaluated. It's different in this AU cause Jinwoo cuts him off due to not wanting the EMI finding out another weakness to use as leverage against him when the time came.

Jinho watched from the sidelines and was one of the people who objected to Jinwoo being taken into the facility. He was forcefully knocked unconscious when a scene was made, but that was already a good outcome considering some where killed on the spot by the Guards in the past and in other countries.

From then on, Jinho actually follows any news of Jinwoo and tried his best to get him out. Of course, he was denied in every sense of the word.

You weren't there when it all happened and only heard it from gossips, couldn't care less was your attitude because you weren't assigned to Jinwoo just yet. When you were and did a background check, you gave Jinho your word that Jinwoo was doing well and warned him against further action to protect himself and his loved ones.

About Jinchul... He was close to being sent to the facility since he was a high-tier A-Rank Hunter and basically the Hunter Association's Chairman's right-hand man. He was protected by Go Gunhee and was given a close surveillance for all his actions only.

Okay. I promised to talk more about the A-Rank Hunter thing. So among A-Ranks, there are high, mid, and low tiers. Low tiers are Hunters like healers that have low or no chance of <Outrage>, mid-tiers are a slightly higher chance, and high is a chance of reaching the S-Rank's possibility of <Outrage>. Still, the mana level is measured and will be acted accordingly. So not all A-Ranks were made to stay in the facility but only to come and be evaluated from period to period to ensure their sanity.

Jinchul is a particular case because of his status and authority. The facility wanted Jinchul to control Gunhee, and both Hunters knew it. If it wasn't obvious, Personnel 001 was the head of that operation. However, this operation was never passed by the other Personnels, so it was technically unauthorized. When you and a few other Personnels caught wind of it, you all banded together to put an end to it. From then on, Personnel 001's place was rocky at best and you were seen as the indirect and new head or the highest authority.

You have a good relationship with Gunhee and Jinchul that a number of leniency was given to them, naturally within restrictions so Personnel 001 couldn't give you a piece of mind for ruining their plans.
