2024 Travel Highlights

Although much of the year was spent renovating a property in South Australia or maintaining and repairing the sailing vessel Thorfinn, we did manage a little travel. We spent time in five countries, travelled by air, land and sea, and visited a new destination – Ipoh. Let’s take a look at 2024’s travel…

Mitchell 2012 Watervale Riesling

Green apple, pear, white flowers and hints of quinine join a classic citrus nose, smothered in textbook bath powder. Follows through to tangy lemon-lime palate which finished a fraction warm. Appears less edgy or exuberant than a young taut Clare due to bottle age. Wild ferment and 6 months worth of lees aging explain the greater volume and textural richness. Versatile. — ★★★

cool bug fact, don't ask why but i have like,,, too many BW aus. I be putting them in situations.

we got:

Bug Winter (BW but everyone is an anthropomorphic insect/arachnid. an excuse to talk about bugs.)

Bodyguard (a classic. set in 1840 bc hehe big dress, Dorran is hired as Clare's bodyguard after she was threatened by a well known gang known as "The Hollows." romance ensues.)

coffeeshop (another classic. more of a joke than anything, playing with the idea of "what if he actually got to get that job?")

Vampire!Morthornes (self explanatory. the Morthorne family is just a bunch of vampires in the woods. it was not wine.)

Stardew Spring (a friends au! post series and set in Stardew Valley. Marnie doesn't die and is Stardew Marnie. Clare inherited the farm and took Dorran with her, seeing it as a fresh start after the stillness, plus she got to be closer to her family. Shane somehow gets assimilated into the Evandale Boys via being related to Clare.)

my personal epilogue (literally just what i want to happen next. I keep giving Clare things and i need to stop. she currently has three children, two tattoos, and a tongue piercing. I'm playing w/ that girl like my weird Barbie.)

Beauty and The Beast (Dorran is beast, Clare is Belle, obviously. self contained within the first book and also pretty self explanatory. its beauty and the beast but with Black Winter characters. it takes a while for Clare to know that Dorran isn't quite right because he has a potion (???) that pushes back the curse.)
