Colorectal cancer is increased with increased alcohol, red and processed meat intake. A lower risk is seen with increased dairy products, breakfast cereal, fruit, whole grains, carbohydrates, fibre, total sugars, folate, and vitamin C. The protection is driven largely or wholly by calcium.
If 100 (dairy tolerant) women drink a glass of milk daily, fifteen of them who would have otherwise developed colorectal cancer will remain cancer free. That’s worth sharing. Next week I’ll get back in my Plastic Surgery lane.
