Not sure if anyone has asked yet, but is there anything special about certain prefixes?

Yes actually! A few special ones

First, the Star- prefix. Depending on its context, it’s either a very good or very bad thing. Anyone with this prefix cannot become leader.

As a vanity name for a particularly devoted cleric or mediator? It’s a great honor. As a vanity name for a warrior? It’s seen as a punishment. And for a kit’s given name? Well… that child would have to be cursed in order for them to be handed that fate.

Kits cannot be named after the four clans, as those were the names of the original leaders. To name a kit Treekit, Grangekit, Baykit, or Marshkit is seen as haughty and self-important. Crystalkit and Swampkit would probably also be looked down upon now, although those names have existed in the past.

The last thing that a kit cannot be named after is an infamous Depths cat. That makes sense, after all. Who would give their kit that name?

Some of these are:

Sharp-, after the infamous deputy of Grangeclan, Sharpthroat, who was killed by his own son after his tyrannical rise to power

Jagged-, after the ancient cleric Jaggedivy, who caused the rule preventing clerics from caring for their own family after her actions caused half of Treeclan to succumb to greencough.

Tangle-, after the ancient warrior Tanglepelt, who massacred many in his home clan of Bayclan

Quiver-, after the infamous mediator Quiverbright who stoked the flames of war between Marshclan and Treeclan for their own amusement

And a recent one… Rose

Rose █ █ █ █ █ was a █ █ █ █ █ █clan cleric who █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ five █ █ █ █ and one █ █ █ █ █ after her █ █ █ █ were █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █

Her clan doesn’t like talking about it. Won’t even say her name
