While I do hate that the Hatchetfield shows are leagues popular than the other starkid shows, I can understand why that's the case. Hatchetfield is constantly growing, it's characters can come back for later stories and that draws people to get attached to them. It's not a one and done thing for many of them, they could come back in nightmare time or referenced in a later show. They also have the most lore building. There's gods and mysteries and things that you could discuss for ages. There's a line you can't really go over with stuff like Twisted or Firebringer because those are one off shows. Their stories have ended, but Hatchetfield could theoretically go on forever telling new stories, introducing new characters, and bringing back old ones. Hatchetfield isn't just meant to be a comedy like AVPT or TTO, it builds on its lore and expands it. The AVPs are also a trilogy but it was also based in Harry Potter, where to stay in that realm of HP you can't go too far. Starkid bends that line pretty well, but they could easily break it if they add too much. Hatchetfield is whatever the Langs want it to be, it's why they have kept writing more for it and love talking about it. Hatchetfield is what the Langs seemingly want to focus on because it can be so original. Same thing with the lands that are I'm guessing, you can do a lot with fairytales that they will probably use to their advantage while making this world. Which is another thing, Hatchetfield's world building is incredible. The mysteries, the way the setting helps move the story along, no other starkid show does that. There's a lot of attachment to Hatchetfield as a town, and it's hard to stop talking about it.
Idk, whenever I see someone say "I miss when we all talked about the shows equally" I'm guessing that was before nightmare time, and the earliest before BF. Because if TGWDLM wasn't a one-shot show taking place in Hatchetfield, I think that would still be the case. But Hatchetfield has its own fanbase of its own now because it's grown so far out of starkid, and there's really no going back, no matter how sad that may make me and others
Because I LOVE the other starkid shows, Twisted is my favorite and I'd definitely talk about it much more if there was more of a fanbase and more to discuss. Sadly, with the chokehold HF has on the fandom, I doubt we'll ever get back to a point where all the shows are seen as equal

Something about the Alien franchise that I have somewhat mixed feelings about is the way that it feels like the "Weyland" half of the "Weyland-Yutani" company gets a lot more focus.
Like, the first Alien vs. Predator movie, the 2010 Alien vs. Predator game, and Prometheus are all about members of the Weyland family. One of them is a robot for some reason, and 2 of them are Lance Henriksen, even though there's never any reason for the 2 Bishops to be connected to the Weyland family, but whatever.
And, like. The first AVP movie, and Prometheus are all about the Weylands having a God complex, wanting to leave their mark on history and the world, and funding archeology and research, about ancient aliens that created and/or uplifted humanity, and humans (and Weyland) can inherit that greatness from the ancient past, and. It very much seems like they both believe in the "Great man of history" stuff and want to be those great men, and. I do think that's definitely appropriate for the white, British half of the company. Of course the white men would believe that and want to become all that.
And. My ancestry is from China, not Japan, but I'd still be. Wary. Of how gross and stereotypical Hollywood might have portrayed evil Japanese business people, especially back in the 70s and 80s, and the Alien series always has some 70s and 80s in it, in its retro future. People still smoke cigarettes in space. So, like, even and especially as someone who grew up in the UK, part of me is glad that the series makes fun of how evil the British and British imperialism is, and how entwined it sorta is with capitalism. Instead of any Yellow Peril shit. The first corporations as we know them today were tools of the British empire. While there's criticism to be made of Japan and Japanese work culture and Japanese businesses, I dunno that I think Hollywood is necessarily the best at doing that.
But, equally. The idea of Weyland-Yutani is that it's a merger of a British company and a Japanese company, and it's sorta weird that the British half is the only half that ever seems to. Matter? Like, it seems to marginalize half the company's origin and concept. So it still ends up playing into the "great man of history" and "white savior" stuff.
Also, the only times a member of the Yutani family shows up, in AVP:R and Alien Blackout, they're usually women, while the Weylands we meet are usually men, except the bastard daughter that doesn't get the name Weyland, and. I don't even know what that's about. There's some weird gender politics there.

Question.
As someone who’s definitely been in the fandom longer than I have, do you think there’s any desire for an Alien VS Predator themed fanmade Tabletop RPG where you play as a Yautja?
I’ve been thinking about the idea for around a year now and I’ve got some basic stuff done.
Hey there! So, actually there have been two that I know of. This one released in 2015 and this one released in 2017. You can play as either a Xenomorph, Predator, or Colonial Marine.
I’m unsure of the number of people who would be interested in a new tabletop game, but considering there have been two versions officially put out, there has to be a good enough amount of folks from that overarching community who would love another! Anything new that allows immersion into the world of AVP is definitely welcome! 😁

Character Wishlist;
Figured I might kick this blog off with a wishlist for some characters i'd love to interact with on here! Honestly, it's gonna be a pretty broad list because I want to interact with anybody and everybody but here it goes!
To start... literally any character from the Predator franchise. When I made this blog I tried looking for other Predator rp blogs but all of them have been long since abandoned it would seem. I'd be really interested to rp with any yautja for sure. I think it could be so fun to bounce around ideas for their culture and for Cleo to have someone to speak the yautja language with. I'd also love a Dutch given the history between Cleo and Dutch. I think she has complicated feelings about that old ooman man.
Next on the list would be... any na'vi from the James Cameron Avatar series! I love when people cross over those films with the AVP universe and I think it would be interesting to have Cleo interacting with one of them.
Next up would be... slashers/monsters/horror movie characters! Predator is pretty action-horror so could definitely be interesting to interact with more characters in the genre. Also I'm just generally a big fan of all of kinds of creatures. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts - that sort of stuff is my jam. I'd love to see how Cleo might interact with that. Also would be funny to see how she'd react to your average slasher.
And lastly would be... any space/sci-fi themed characters! Stuff like Star Wars immediately comes to mind and obviously the Alien films, but honestly I'd be down for any kind of space themed interaction. Yautja are aliens after all so it only makes sense that there might be some interactions out there in the dark abyss of space, on other planets, or on a space ship somewhere.
Aside from that, I'd genuinely be down to interact with anyone who'll have me! I haven't been in the rpc in a long time and it feels like things have gotten much quieter here since I last roleplayed and, admittedly, a bit harder to find blogs to interact with. So, really, I'd be happy to rp with anybody!!
Thanks for reading!!

-Steven Caple Jr. has said that aspects of Rise of the Beasts were inspired by the Unicron comic miniseries of IDW1 that capped off EXRID and TAAO (really all of the IDW1 Hasbroverse except MTMTE/Lost Light, will note we're currently unsure if the Clue stuff was still going) save for it's final issue (Post), so while someone would need to ask to confirm we feel like this is clearly why Arcee is Optimus's right hand in the film
-Earthspark Arcee is so very clearly inspired by IDW Arcee in part while doing her own thing. the teaching (also an Animated aspect), the martial arts and incredible feats therein (in this case though unarmed), Robby literally asks her if she'll teach her "berserker rage" etc.
-Transformers One Arcee has cheek guards extended from her helm that are the kind of thing IDW Arcee is known for (and began with Binaltech Arcee with much thicker armor herein, and it's unclear if those two are related in that way)
So with all that in mind, just some thoughts/desires on the future of Arcee in film/animation in regards to film/animation:
Basically, while we think there's nothing wrong with casting cisgender voice actors for versions of Arcee who are in part inspired by her canonically trans and transcoded iterations, we hope that someday they go all the way and have a transfemme voice actor for her with a major role, at least once, if not more than once. Our dream would be if they ever also do a film focused on Arcee and it has multiverse theming that she'd get to team up with a number of other Arcees based on other continuities (and like, in that case the gender spectrum of the voice actors could obviously vary more than the vastness of the transfeminine spectrum). I dunno. The thing Mae Catt said about wanting Earthspark Arcee to be trans gave us some hope in addition to all this that we might actually get a version of her that is outside of the comics sometime in the next decade, and maybe actually have her gender journey touched on. I mean, there's two different explicitly trans Arcees in canon, one in Ask Vector Prime and the other one in IDW1, off of whom basically all of the IDW Arcees who came after are iterated off of to some degree (including crossovers. Sidenote, her TTRPG bio in the Autobot book is definitely based on her, and Gauge's bio in her pregen character sheet in the starter box set directly references Arcee has her mentor. This also came with a sheet for Anode that touched on a new version of her own trans journey!). We think both trans narratives are very adaptable considering what IDW1 Arcee's end up being in the end as someone who sought gender affirming surgery during a time when gender variation was being abandoned on her world, was betrayed by her transmedicalist surgeon, and as a survivor managed to carve out a future with the help of another trans gal for a time and eventually found her way back into transformer and galactic conflict on her own terms, finally finding community, love, and a job that didn't involve fighting and a shape she adored in the postwar era after the hierarchies that had bothered her were finally mostly gone (if you want to read about this we have an essay about it and also the conceptual origins section of her IDW1 tfwiki page has a shorter overview of how her narrative changed quite a lot over the years). AVP Arcee's story of kicking off a gender revolution in understandings and gender affirming care is also rather beautiful (you can check out the archived official Ask Vector Prime 1.0 entry here). They could also combine both or just tell a different story with a transfemme version of her. We'd be happy with any of those four possibilities 💜🏳️⚧️
There are voicedubs of IDW1 Arcee where transfemme voice actors were sought out, can't that happen for something official too? Voice dubs have way less resources so usually getting more than one person to do a whole dub is already a lot
We (as in our system) owe her and the other transfemme and sapphic transformers our she pronouns you know? We love her, and we know other people love her too

In which I rewatch Alien: Covenant
Well, I rewatched Covenabt tonight. My thoughts are below but TLDR; I liked it a bit more than the first time I saw it, but I still don’t really enjoy it. Full review/thoughts below:
I genuinely wanted to like this more than the first time I watched it and that … sort of happened? I can’t say I enjoyed this as a whole, but I did like the last 50-ish minutes more than I did the first time I watched it. The last time I saw this, I didn’t even like the android stuff, which is surprising because normally I’m all in for plots heavily involving androids.
Thankfully, I genuinely enjoyed all the android stuff this time around. All the scenes involving David and Walter (separately or together) are really interesting and engaging.
But that doesn’t make up for the overall negatives.
Almost all the characters here are basically interchangeable and uninteresting — just slasher movie fodder. Now, I enjoy slashers. It’s one of my favorite subgenres of horror. I can enjoy a dumb, fun slasher easily. Fun being the key word here. Because I could more easily accept Covenant if it went all in on being a dumb slasher-ish movie/creature feature. For a comparison, AvP isn’t a good movie, but it knows what it is and has fun with it. That doesn’t really happen here.
Covenant feels like Scott was actually interested in the android stuff but was obligated to shove in a bunch of xenomorph destruction and his heart wasn’t really in it. There’s some good creature stuff but … overall it just feels half hearted.
I’m still mad about Shaw being killed casually offscreen. It’s one thing if a character from a previous film dies in a sequel and their death means something. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 does that well. This doesn’t. Shaw is just unceremoniously killed off and used as a plot device. Honestly, it’s insulting to an interesting character and feels like everything she endured in Prometheus meant nothing.
Also, while I enjoy David in this, he’s definitely a much more straightforward, classic villain here than he is in Prometheus. That’s not bad per se, but I find his more gray motivation and morality in Prometheus more interesting than what’s going on here.
All in all, I really wish we’d gotten a proper Prometheus 2 and not the confused mess that is Covenant.

@acoldsovereign 🌸 If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog. 🌸 {{GIVE US INFORMATION ABOUT YOU GREGGY BOI
(( Ooo 3 random facts huh? ok ok ok i think i can come up wtih some lmao
FACT ONE:
the Alien universe is honestly one of my favorites and like Alien vs Predator 2 (the game) is one of my favorite horror games, up there with like FEAR and Amnesia and all those. Alien Isolation is also top tier for being so god damn scary and getting the atmosphere and aesthetic down. Like I know back then it was considered futuristic but I just love sci-fi like that where it's very angular? Like most sci-fis go for a very curvy aesthetic while Alien is very boxy and clunky looking. Love it love it love it. Cassette Futurism is the name I found out about it? It's honestly such a good series that it definitely heavily influences my stuff in general lmao.
But yeah Alien vs Predator 2 is one of those games I played multiple times over, that campaign is amazing. Better than the newest AvP or Aliens: Colonial Marines. Alien Isolation is honestly the only thing that surpassed it, and so far Aliens: Dark Descent has been really fucking good.
FACT TWO
I've been rping for a long fucking time. I don't know the exact length but I started out in like Warcraft 3 rp maps and even did some very basic shit in Gamespy Arcade chatrooms lol. Warcraft 3 is where I did a LOT though for the longest time until I got into rping on Gmod of all places which was a fun time and I was on a Starship Troopers RP server for a good while and am still friends with some folk from there. I then rped on league of legends forums and some other forum for a little bit and that's where I learned to write longer stuff. Then I learned about Tumblr and was apart of the LoL rp stuff there for a bit until uh... Mass Effect, Fallout and finally Gohan on DBZ.
FACT THREE
I have two cats!!! One is my parents and the other is mine. I named her Videl and she's a super sweet and cute calico. This is not a very long fact but basically she's just a big baby who meows at me a lot and sleeps on me many times. Very sweet and cute love her.
#ooc#(( thanks i had fun doing this lol#i could gush about aliens all fucking day my fav#so glad they still do games for it

Movie Review | Alien: Romulus (Alvarez, 2024)

This review contains spoilers further down.
I was little worried when I learned this movie had a much younger cast than previous entries, not just because hating "kids these days" and demanding they get off one's lawn is a natural part of the aging process, but also because previous entries were often cast with experienced character actors who brought texture to the material without the need for extensive character development. It's definitely a problem with some of the characters, who either make no impression, or in the case of the guy who's racist against synths, make an entirely negative impression but with no grace notes. This guy is so fucking annoying, he must have been a producer's son or something, and his scenes play like something out of an anti-bullying PSA.
But I do think the movie lucks out with Cailee Spaeny and especially David Jonsson, who plays the synth being victimized. Jonsson has an aggrieved, puppydog expression that makes him effortlessly sympathetic. The fact that within the first five minutes he's getting beaten up by some punks, and then he spends the next hour getting bullied by the synth hater, it's like you're watching kick a puppy. I just wanted to give him a hug. Anyway, without spoiling too much, this quality makes him pretty engaging to watch when he balances the good and bad synth sides of his character. In both his and Spaeny's cases, their youth works in their characters' favours, and I think their relationship works much better than any of the others in the movie.
I like pretty much every non-AVP Alien movie to some degree because I like spending time in this world. Like the others, this one is full of blocky, worn, utilitarian production design, goop and gore, so I enjoyed it, even if its heavier reliance on CGI means that those things are less tactile than they've been in previous entries. And I think Fede Alvarez shows some verve during the more kinetic scenes, in particular a zero gravity shoot 'em sequence down a corridor full of aliens. That being said, Alvarez has a less distinct signature than previous directors who've worked on these movies, and between the "back to basics" approach and the overt fan service callbacks, this one struggles to carve out its own identity like previous entries. And on a more pedantic note, I would have preferred a slimy green sheen to the piss-tinged yellowish one we get.
Now, gonna get into some nitpicky, SPOILERY territory if you don't mind:
1) The Ian Holm stuff... They could have just made him another synth and it would have worked just as well. It's not like audiences are coming in droves, clamouring to see Ian Holm specifically.
2) The whole alien juice injection stuff... Somehow the characters don't look at the cage with the rat alien right beside the monitor that would have clued them into the dangers of the alien juice.
3) The whole sexual threat angle has been a pretty integral part of this series from the start, and some of visuals here might bring to mind to the work of Maude Lebowski. Also, Alvarez definitely has an impregnation fetish. Not judging, just pointing it out.
4) In the next one, I'd like to see a good guy alien for a change. You know, one who decides to help the heroes for whatever reason. Kinda like the Predator in the first AvP, but in a less shitty movie. There was an opportunity here with Isabella Merced shooting up the alien juice, but the movie did not seize on the opportunity.
5) This one gets a human-alien hybrid, but it looks way lamer than the humalien from Alien: Resurrection. Its big move is leaning in for a kiss, and I for one would not kiss this alien. The humalien though? With its cute little nose? How could you say no? Press Like if you'd kiss the humalien.

Last night or so, as in Friday night. I wonder about making my own Yautja because I love this species. Even though as I've grown up my feelings towards the franchise has been weird.
But I still love this species. I still love Predator 1, 2 and Prey. Which I consider those three the definitive Predator trilogy. I love the AVP crossover stuff whether they are games, comics, but the movies are a weird story. They should've been set after Aliens and not on Earth. I still like a lot of elements from those films.
I'm glad this little post of mine still gets attention.

GeekGem’s Favorite Yautja Lineup.
Diablo (Jungle Hunter/Anytime) - Predator.
Ghost (City Hunter/Pussyface) - Predator 2.
Dachande (Different Knife/Broken Tusk) - Aliens Vs Predator 1990/Aliens Vs Predator Prey.
Scarface (The New Way Devil) - Predator Concrete Jungle.
Prince (Rykov’s Nemesis) - Aliens Versus Predator 2 2001.

Information below talking about behind the scenes. Along with honorable mentions.

i would be super interesting in hearing your thoughts on the first trans tf character actually! transgender, textual and subtextual, in transformers is something i've been thinking about a lot recently
Personally, I do count it as Classics/Recordicons Howlback- for those not aware, the strip I'm referring to is this one.
...oh god this got longgggg, i will cut this to save all your dashes.
Willis actually talks about it here on Tumblr, basically saying he had been avoiding female characters in writing those strips for a while because while there are a couple of lasses in that continuity, the general rule of thumb was that everyone was supposed to be 'genderless' (which unfortunately in Classics continuity was actually just 'man as a default', because of course it was). And then he decided this was pretty daft of him because why couldn't a 'genderless society' just. Like. Decide 'hey, being a girl sounds neat' or whatever and then Be A Girl if they wanted. Which is pretty much what IDW would eventually retcon in as an explanation for how a robot species conceives of gender.
But since this is basically just a word of god situation, some folks argue this doesn't 'count'. Personally, despite not usually paying much attention to 'word of god', I count it because I think you have to give a certain amount of leeway when looking at the context it was being done in; if a creative wants a queer character or concept in there for a franchise where asking permission for that is required and yields uncertain results, insisting 'word of god doesn't ever count' strikes me as ungenerous. But true, Howlback is never canonized on panel as trans, so I see what people mean.
And then one elephant in the room in this whole discussion is... IDW Arcee. Spotlight Arcee is not a 'trans narrative' just because it leans on some very, very nasty transphobic tropes, and for many years IDW Arcee was not really treated as trans even by writers trying to do better by her than that shitty-ass comic. But as of the last ever issue of IDW1, and yes I really mean it was made 100% confirmed in the last ever comic for folks who didn't read exRiD btw, Barber managed to retcon it so Arcee was definitively, in-universe trans the whole time. And the Jhiaxus stuff didn't even have to be thrown out to do it. So is Arcee the 'first canon trans character'? Do we go from the date of OP #25, or from her Spotlight appearance? I personally go somewhere in the middle- Barber functionally treats her as trans throughout exRiD, he just never quite finds room to fit in an unambiguous mention- but that muddies stuff a lot. Some people argue IDW Arcee is the first canon trans character because she is both on-page trans and was introduced earlier, even if the confirmation of her as trans came way later, and very much in spite of what happened at the beginning.
And of course in between Barber taking over Arcee and him canonizing her as For Real Trans, we have Lug and Anode in Lost Light. This is on the page, it is explicitly unambiguously trans, and for some folks both of those things are needed for First Trans Character credentials. Meaning that they feel Lug and Anode, in 2016, were the actual honest-to-god first trans characters in TF, since they may not count Arcee's earlier appearances since at the time they were written, she wasn't yet trans. (Edit: amendment regarding a precursor to them is here.)
But then, what about the AVP stuff? Well after Howlback was word of god-ed as trans and before the above from Barber on the page in IDW, back in 2015 AVP, which is considered canon material, got asked about if any characters were trans. And answered in the affirmative! Notably, these are all little nods to characters who for various reasons have Stuff going on with their canon genders, e.g. G1 Overlord being nodded to as genderfluid because that character in the anime he originates from is basically 'created from' a man and a woman who are a married couple. (G1 Overlord is weird.) Also, Archadis was originally designed to be a female character and then swapped to male, which gets a nod as a trans man character, that sort of thing. These are technically not 'word of god', as AVP, despite functionally being a way to canonize word of god stuff, is in-universe fiction of its own and considered as such. I have seen at least one argument, therefore, that the 2015 AVP stuff constitutes the first unambiguous in-fiction depiction of explicitly trans characters in TF, as it predates all the above bar Howlback, who they don't count. But I've also seen some people say AVP is actually just a word of god machine and not canon as a result! So some people say none of the trans stuff in there is Real Canon!
...and you could really take it further and therefore look at which of those characters would be the earliest to debut in-fiction and I think that means you could make the claim the first ever canon trans character in TF is indeed G1 Overlord, which would be mostly very silly to do, but funny, so I think someone oughta.
Anyway. All this is to say, there's a lot of contenders for who is first, and probably more characters you can definitively call 'trans' in SOME context than many folks realize!

AVPS is definitively my least favorite of the AVPT (it has the largest percentage of jokes that I don't like, and also I think the weakest emotional core) but damn if the Langs and Brian didn't absolutely nail the time travel stuff. The set-ups and pay-offs are so clever and rewarding and Jim Povolo essentially playing Past Lauren is a DEEPLY under-appreciated visual gag. Top Knotch Stuff.

FINALLY watched AVP Requiem in full with Mom yesterday!
and, well, I mean... definitely not my favorite HOLY HELL they filmed it so freaking dark it was hard to fucking SEE ANYTHING
but I gotta admit, Wolf was DEFINITELY the best part of the movie
as if there was any doubt!
Predator movie actually focusing on Yautja and their culture instead of human drama bullshit... when???
(I mean, me being a Yautja/human enthusiast, there’s obv a time for that stuff, but if I’m watching a Predator movie, I want the main focus TO BE ON THE PREDATORS!! h e c k)

My Ranking of StarKid shows
Okay, so I haven’t posted any original content for a while, so I’m gonna do some ranking. Note: I don’t dislike any of the shows, they’re all amazing and just because a show is low on my list doesn’t mean I don’t like it.
Also, spoiler warning for all of them (duh)
So here we gooooo
12) Holy Musical B@man
I don’t know, to be honest... the humour just didn’t click with me as much as the other shows did. I’ve never seen or read any Batman or DC stuff, so that doesn’t help, but it just really didn’t stick out to me. However, it’s still amazing. The soundtrack is great (Rogues are We is my 3rd favourite StarKid song), Brian Holden as Superman is iconic, and it was overall very sweet and fun.
11) Me and My Dick
This is mostly because I don’t like sex, but the other parts are really sweet! Joey/Sally is such an underrated ship (so is Tiffanessa... yeah I’m still thinking about them...) and it had a lot of good songs and funny scenes (AJ as Joey’s Heart was the best thing ever). It was made in 2009, so some of the jokes are outdated, but the good parts are great.
10) A Very Potter Senior Year
This is mainly so low because of some personal reasons (that I’m not going to go into). But it was really sweet and made me cry, had some great songs (looking at you Sidekick...) and was amazing when you take into account that they barely had any rehearsal time.
9) Ani: A Parody
I’m actually really sad about putting this so low. Ani is so good and is severely underrated. Chris Allen was amazing, and JJ’s death was, in my opinion, one of the saddest deaths in a StarKid musical. My only criticism is Tarkin and Emily’s relationship, which has got to be one of my least favourite ships, but it did provide some funny moments, and Joe and Julia were amazing. Nick’s Obi-Wan was hilarious. Also, the music slaps and anyone who says it isn’t a real musical because the cast doesn’t sing can fight me, because Clark and Pierce went too hard for us to say that it doesn’t count. Also, despite what a lot of people say, I have watched like 2 Star Wars movies and still understood most of the jokes. They actually did a really good job of making it funny for everyone, and the point of most of the jokes were that you didn’t have to understand them. I think that if I hadn’t seen or read Harry Potter, or watched Aladdin or Disney, I would have enjoyed Ani more than the AVP Trilogy and Twisted.
Wow, went on a rant there. Okay...
8) Twisted
This is going to be unpopularly low... I do love it, I just don’t vibe with it as much. It was really great, it was constantly making me laugh, the soundtrack was amazing, and I loved how it kind of had a moral to the story. I just don’t really care, y’know. It was great, but just didn’t capture my attention like some of them. I don’t really have any more to say on it.
7) A Very Potter Musical
Ah, the OG musical. AVPM has so much nostalgic value. I think it really holds a special place in all of our hearts. It was the first StarKid musical I watched, and I just have a lot of fond memories from it. Actual quality wise, it’s probably not as good as a lot of them, but it’s what started this whole thing, and it’s gotta go up higher.
6) Black Friday
I’ve seen a lot of dislike for this one, which I think isn’t really fair? My only real criticism is that it’s very busy and has got a lot going on, but so do a lot of the others. I think it has one of the strongest soundtracks, Jeff did an amazing job. All of the cast was great, and the filming was outstanding. I think a lot of people don’t like it because it was the most serious, but honestly, I like that StarKid is trying something new (AND it still had so many funny moments as well). Yeah, I just think it is amazing.
5) A Very Potter Sequel
In my opinion, this is definitely the best of the AVP Trilogy. It was the funniest for me, had the best soundtrack (Days of Summer, The Coolest Girl, Harry Freakin’ Potter, I could keep on going for ages). Obviously there’s the problem with the portrayal of Umbridge. I’m not the best with words, so I won’t go into it, but a lot of other people have put it really well. But apart from that, it’s really great.
Okay, the next two are basically tied. I usually choose them based on which one I’m vibing with at the moment, but just consider them the same.
4) Firebringer
I’ll admit, I originally didn’t like this one, but then I rewatched it and was amazed that I’d slept on it for so long. It’s very funny, the soundtrack is amazing, the choreography is amazing (thank you Denise Donovan), and let’s not forget, THE COSTUMES. HAVE YOU SEEN HOW GREAT THE COSTUMES ARE. JUNE SAITO IS A QUEEN. Anyway, yeah, it’s really well written, and i super sweet and fun to watch (also Jazzalil was not rushed and I can and will write a whole essay on it).
3) Trail to Oregon
I just love how dumb it is. It’s so silly and immature, and it’s great to watch. It is, in my opinion, the funniest StarKid show. It has the perfect small ensemble cast (also let’s take a moment to appreciate Joey Richter. Thank you, you may continue) and it has CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! WE LOVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! The music is amazing (even You Gotta Go, which everyone seems to hate because of the fart noises). I just love it heaps. Also, it has my ALL TIME FAVOURITE STARKID SONG EVER! WAGON ON FIRE ROCKS!
2) Starship
I feel like most people assume this is my favourite because of my username, which is valid and I can understand why. Starship is my comfort musical. It’s my emotional support musical. It’s just... so cute? It’s silly and a bit of fun, and is just kind of a feel-good show. I don’t mind how busy it is, it keeps me entertained all the way through and makes me want to come back and watch it again. It is also the home of my OTP (Tootsie/Megagirl is the cutest thing ever and I will die with that opinion). It also has some of the best characters. Also, in my opinion, it has the best soundtrack, despite only having 10 songs - it’s got 2 songs in my Top 5 (The Way I Do at no. 2 and Kick it up a Notch at no. 4), and there’s not a single song I dislike. The puppets were freaking amazing! I just love it A LOT and I think all of the StarKid’s are really sleeping on it (looking at you Nick...)
1) The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals
Yes, I know, I’m very boring and stereotypical. I’m sorry I couldn’t have a more interesting opinion.
I really don’t think there’s much denying that TGWDLM has the best plot/storyline. It gives me big Dr. Who vibes, which I love. I’m usually not a big fan of horror, but this was the perfect mix of seriousness and comedy. It’s very engaging and keeps you wondering what happens next. I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for angsty endings, which TGWDLM definitely provides. I just really love sci-fi stuff. It has a really strong soundtrack, top notch dancing, and was just overall the best StarKid show.
So yeah, that’s my ranking. Tell me what you thought! I’ll probably do some song rankings for each show. Also don’t be too angry at me please.

Prometheus
20th Century Fox
Impression: Not really a story, just some stuff that happens. Plus, other than the ship and the one part at the end... not really feeling the Alien franchise in this one. If you know anything about the AVP duology then you know that it is not possible that the Aliens were created in 2094. There are so many flaws and very little story to this. It’s... just no. Not a fan.
Collection: possibly no. Not sure if I want to collect this whole franchise now. Make that definitely no
