random sw oc tidbits:
-When it comes to cooking, Lance, Mae, and Grey are considered the best of the LSWs. Although Lance is more of a baker since he finds the process more appealing in design. Mae is a drink maker and tends to get experimental but always considers health her #1 priority. Grey is the jack of all trades to the eyes of the LSWs, but she's way more effective with breakfast dishes and takes longer since she likes fancying them up. The rest of the LSWs are decent at cooking, but aren't on the same levels as Lance, Mae, and Grey. Reyn in particular cooks like a college student and prefers buying/ordering prepped food. However, since he graduated from college, he has been looking up recipes online as he now lives by himself in an apartment.
-Reyn is a near-sighted board and card game aficionado.
-Of the spring flowers she knows, April is a fan of tulips because of their colors and shape. She also likes rainy weather, hence the meaning of her name.
-As an antagonist: losing both of her parents, caused a heartbroken Teen Wing to join the Pavere Carnival because their current ringleader is the only remnant of her family (Akumu too, but that's a different story) and keeping her happiness in check. Like the canon timeline, TW gets swept in a secret investigation conducted by Rakumo, who she feels betrayed by for "running the vibes." But she's got two choices: either she joins their plot or encourage the Pavere Carnival to become the biggest nightmare to the planet. TW also begins to harbor guilt for not joining the SWs in the first place. But it's far too late since she doesn't want to become a "traitor" to her father's former team, and she doesn't want to endanger the Super Wings furthermore (ironically ever since the "party").
-Teen Wing is a HUGE fan of Asian snacks. But her absolute favorites are those small cookies/biscuits with drawings on the shells and cream filling inside, and the SW-equivalent of Chocobi for their wide variety of flavors. But she hates eating salmon because of its, what TW describes, "rubber flavor."
-Rakumo loves egg dishes (and he's giddy in the inside when they're served to him), and his favorite is Tamago Don sprinkled with dried seaweed. But he hates shrimp because the taste makes him nauseous.
-Akumu works at the same convenience store TW and Rakumo visit.
-Teen Wing always comes back psyched after a performance. But she's even more psyched, or rather, happier, if her dad's actually smiling and not the forceful kinds he made when he left the Super Wings.
-Although their relationship is being repaired after the fall of the Pavere Carnival, Rakumo became more happier around Teen Wing. His favorite moment is drawing art with his baby cousin.
-Lance feels his happiest when he gets the chance to tell a story or talk about Shakespeare plays (even if that doesn't interest Teen Wing by the slightest). Also, when he finally rekindled his relationship with the Super Wings. He deeply misses them even if he is now a retired LSW.
-The Pavere Carnival was considered an urban legend told around the world.
-Teen Wing is childhood friends with Ellie and Curie. They first met at a "take your kid to work day" at World Airport.
-Scorpia is sort of amnesiac: only her memories as a SW are wiped out, but the other batch about her relationship with Dizzy and Runi is quite intact. So, Scorpia knows a little bit of her past life but being a Pavere Carnie delays her rebuilding until she struck a deal with two Pavere Carnies for rebellion plot purposes. By "quite intact," think of a photograph that was charred by a fire but only the faces in the picture are burned. Scorpia remembers doing various activities she did with "two planes" when she was younger but doesn't know their names until later in the TW story. It's been a couple of years.
-Lance is quite social, but those who pass his "comprehension exam" are befriended by him. Otherwise, he can't tolerate anyone who intentionally fucks it up. So, the theater kid is sorta good at making friends. It's his strictness that's a challenge, and Grey was the only one who passed the "exam." Lance is the kind of LSW that would observe before making friends, and when I mentioned his "comprehension exam," I'm referring to the image below for someone who fails the LSW's first-meeting expectations:
Tumblr media
-Favorite music genres: Teen Wing loves pop and rock, Rakumo loves lo-fi and metal, and Lance loves jazz and orchestra.
-Rakumo used to take part in urban climbing, but rarely does it nowadays in public areas after "running the longest marathon of his life" from Holle, who spotted him. However, this activity shaped Rakumo to be the stealthy speedster he is today.
-Rakumo did some graffiti at the "abandoned" Bill Toys factory prior to the movie's events. However, the place sort of gives him the creeps because the puppeteer feels like he wasn't alone there. That kind of feeling is what Rakumo actually fears deep down whenever he does urbex stuff.
-Lance can translate Shakespearean writings, as opposed to his daughter. He also hopes Xerpens finds the lost works Love's Labour's Won and The History of Cardenio.

We Know Better Than to Say - Act 2 Scene 1
Anders/Fem Hawke
There are some things you know better than to ever let pass your lips. Anders had learned this lesson so deeply that he could picture those secrets burned into his skin, charring his very bones.
He’d seen Hawke a scarce few times since they had all emerged back to the surface. Her new life was consumed with caring for her mother and being forced into the middle of whatever the city’s Quanri guests were plotting. Whether it had been cowardice or cruelty had pushed Kirkwall’s king to put this burden on her shoulder’s escaped Ander’s but he was not going to add to it.
He refused to offer her another poisoned chalice she could not refuse, even if it crippled him.
The Templars were laying out a new plan to eradicate every mage in the city under the cover of the current political chaos. While the others were busy trying to hold the world together, he was the only one left to protect those the city at large ignored. It was better that he went into this horror with a clear mind, he’d been too distracted in years past-
Anders stopped himself, realizing the thought was no longer his own. Justice seemed to admire Hawke for her righteousness, but Anders' obsession with her was a source of much reproach from the Spirit.
Their feelings had been intertwined for so long, it was hardly surprising that their thoughts were becoming almost interchangeable. Almost was already more than Anders had ever wanted, but what he wanted rarely calculated into what was.
For example, he wanted nothing more than to slip out of his clinic unnoticed and tend to the matter of  Ser Alrik in one single sweep. But, as he pulled his bag onto his shoulder he heard a voice reach through the clinic like a roll of thunder.
“You really weren’t going to go without me.” Vesper sounded truly surprised by her observation, even as it was a judgement laid at Anders' feet. He was certain he hadn’t heard the door to the clinic open, but he was also certain he hadn’t told any of the others about his plan. Isabella had been visiting more often as of late, and he’d been foolish to turn his back on her more than once...
Damn her and her nosiness. And damn him for being no more able to deny her than Vesper.
With a deep breath he turned his gaze towards the noblesse at his door. Vesper was sheathed in fine dwarven crafted plate, each piece made to fit her and her alone. Yet, there were no insignias or designs, just plan steel half covered by the worn red cloak she’d pulled around her shoulders. She looked older, the bags around her eyes a stark darkness on her sun warmed skin.
Even from here he could still trace the knife scar that pulled across her throat, and the crook to her nose the Dark Roads had gifted her. Two injuries he’d watched her be anointed with that by all rights should’ve been laid on someone else. How could she blame him for trying to spare her this one thing?
“There is enough on your shoulders as is.” Anders kept his voice level as he met her eyes. She was displeased, but he knew he’d do it all again if he was asked.
“I can make time for a Templar conspiracy to turn every mage in the city into a Tranquil.” Vesper’s tone did a poor job of hiding her anger, but she made no move to leave her perch in the doorway.
“Vesper, no one would consider you any less of an ally to the Mage cause.” Anders forced himself forward, each step another towards a den full of Templars and the dragon that was the woman he couldn’t stop loving.
“I don’t care about ‘no one’, I care about you.” She was blocking his exit, but as he came to stand before her he felt his will start to fail.
“It was going to be for the best.” He started to reach for her hand, but stopped himself, suddenly unsure of where they stood.
“Good thing I’m not only here for ‘the best’.” Vesper met him in the middle, her gauntlet wrapping gently around his fingers. He could still feel her anger as it burned in her eyes, but her tender expression promised it would soon cool.
“I may never be able to give you the best of anything.” He lowered his voice to a whisper, “Least of all myself.”
“I know.” Vesper leaned closer, her breath warm on his cool cheek. “Then I suppose we’re both lucky that I am fond of even your worst.”
She was so close that for a moment, the only thing that filled his mind was the thought of her lips on his. He could make the dreams that plagued him every night reality with the barest inclination of his head.
But, then there was Karl, standing there in a body hollowed out of its very mind. He was in Anders’ arm asking for the only thing that could save him then. How many mages would end up like that if Anders stalled even for a single evening? Could he ever sleep again with that blood on his hands?
Anders stumbled back, her body recoiling from the very thought. Vesper’s brow furrowed with confusion but she offered him no further judgement, even as his hand slipped away from hers.
“Let’s pray our worsts keep us company tonight, for their’s certainly will be there to meet us.” Anders could hear the shake in his voice, but Vesper still stepped out of his way.
“Lead the way, I’ll be behind you every step of the way.” Her voice was a commander snapping him back into his right mind.
The effect was noticeably diminished however, when he stepped outside to find Isabella and Varric standing around one of the nearby burn barrels doing a poor job of pretending to be looking elsewhere.
“You’ve been gone too long and they got curious.” Vesper shrugged when he looked to her.
If this was his punishment he supposed it could certainly be worse, they could’ve always brought Fenris.

TW: Child loss themes
Tumblr media
ANM №: ANM-600
Identification: Ball Pit for Stillborn Babies
Danger Level: Nightmare 💀 | Contained ⭕️
Lead Researcher: Dr. Öctavio Kalev
Anomaly Type: Location, Haunted, Child-related, Trauma
Containment: ANM-600 must be enclosed within a 2.5-meter high barbed wire fence, surrounded by a 500-meter perimeter around the playground. Motion sensors must be installed along the perimeter, and any unauthorized individuals attempting to enter the site should be detained, interrogated, and amnesticized as necessary. No personnel are allowed to enter ANM-600 between 19:00 and 06:00 hours.
Any personnel showing signs of pregnancy, recent child loss, or a history of miscarriage are strictly prohibited from entering ANM-600 under any circumstances. Psychological evaluations must be conducted bi-weekly for all staff assigned to ANM-600.
A remotely operated robotic drone (DRR) equipped with cameras and audio recording devices must be used for all exploration and documentation purposes within ANM-600. Under no circumstances should personnel physically enter the ball pit area.
Description: ANM-600 is a partially abandoned playground located in Alabama, USA. The playground includes a rusty swing set, a deactivated carousel, several deteriorated benches, and a large central ball pit measuring approximately 5 meters in diameter and an unknown depth. During the day, the pit is 1 meter deep, becoming anomalous along with the site at night. The playground was decommissioned in 19██ after a series of unexplained child deaths were reported in the vicinity.
ANM-600 exhibits a strong anomalous attraction to deceased babies and fetuses, specifically those who died within a 50-kilometer radius of the playground. Regardless of burial location or preservation method, the remains of these children will anomalously manifest within ANM-600. These entities, designated ANM-600-1 to ANM-600-5, appear as partially decomposed or malformed human infants displaying varying degrees of hostility and awareness.
Documented Entities:
ANM-600-1 is a severely disfigured infant with pronounced craniofacial abnormalities and fused limbs, believed to have resulted from complications due to high consanguinity between its progenitors. ANM-600-1 exhibits constant signs of distress, including high-pitched crying and sporadic twitching. It is often seen crawling erratically across the playground, leaving a faint trail of bloody mucus.
ANM-600-2 is an infant with pronounced cases of elephantiasis, its limbs and head grotesquely swollen to unnatural proportions. ANM-600-2 is notably aggressive, displaying superhuman strength and the ability to violently thrash and crush objects within its vicinity. Despite its slow movement, ANM-600-2 has been observed to launch itself at high speeds towards any foreign objects introduced into the playground. The entity is presumed to have gained these abilities as an extension of ANM-600 reality-bending properties.
ANM-600-3 is an unnaturally elongated, skeletal infant presumed to have been aborted in the second trimester. ANM-600-3 stands at approximately 1 meter in height and is covered in a thin layer of taut, semi-translucent skin. Its mouth is permanently gaping, emitting a continuous, faint wailing sound that is particularly distressing to human females. ANM-600-3 is primarily active during night hours, often seen silently pacing around the edges of the playground before disappearing into the slide.
ANM-600-4 is a stillborn infant covered in extensive third-degree burns. The entity's flesh is charred and cracked, 600 smoldering with a faint, acrid smoke. ANM-600-4 has been observed dragging itself across the playground, leaving behind a trail of blackened soot. It emits a low, keening wail interspersed with choking coughs, and is known to react violently to sudden noises.
ANM-600-5 is an amalgamation of numerous stillborn fetuses, their bodies fused together in a grotesque mass of tangled limbs and conjoined skulls. ANM-600-5 is almost entirely immobile, residing within the ball pit and occasionally thrashing when disturbed. Individuals approaching ANM-600-5 have reported hearing disembodied whispers, pleas for help, and unsettling laughter originating from within the mass.
Anomalous Properties:
ANM-600 has a pervasive auditory anomaly that affects all living beings within a 100-meter radius of the playground. Subjects report hearing the cries, laughter, and gibbering of infants, which intensify the closer they get to the playground. Females who have experienced child loss, including miscarriage or abortion, are particularly susceptible to these auditory phenomena, often experiencing severe psychological distress, nausea, and disorientation.
The ball pit itself, designated as ANM-600-A, is the epicenter of the playground’s anomalous activity. When an individual enters the pit, the multicolored plastic balls begin to shift and churn as if stirred by an unseen force. Within moments, dozens of small, decaying limbs and umbilical cords will emerge from beneath the surface, attempting to grasp and pull the intruder downwards. Once an individual is fully submerged, no trace of them has ever been recovered.
Exploration using DRR units has revealed that the ball pit is anomalously deep, extending far beyond the physical dimensions of the playground. At depths exceeding 30 meters, footage becomes heavily distorted, and the drone is inevitably lost due to mechanical failure or signal interference. Audio captured at these depths includes faint crying, distorted lullabies, and, on one occasion, a coherent voice stating, "We are not alone."
Incident Report 600-04:
On ██/██/20██, a P-Subject (P-2983) was instructed to enter ANM-600-A. Upon submersion, P-2983 began to scream incoherently, stating that "they're pulling me apart." Approximately 12 seconds later, all contact with P-2983 was lost. An DRR unit deployed immediately after recorded the appearance of a new entity, designated ANM-600-6, emerging from ANM-600-A. ANM-600-6 is a large, humanoid infant figure approximately 2 meters in height, composed of what appears to be the mangled remains of several fetuses. ANM-600-6 was observed moving towards the perimeter before spontaneously disintegrating into a fine, particulate dust.
Following this incident, all further experimentation with ANM-600-A has been suspended indefinitely.
Addendum 600-B: Audio Log Excerpt
Recorded at 22:47, 13/07/20██, by Site-██ monitoring equipment.
> [Background static. Indistinct whispers.]
> Unidentified Voice: "...come to play..."
> [Sound of faint giggling, overlapping with crying.]
> Unidentified Voice: "Mommy… where are you?"
> [Loud, sharp sound, similar to metal scraping against concrete.]
> Unidentified Voice 2: "They’re here. They never left. They’re waiting for you."
> [Silence for 5 seconds, followed by distant, echoing cries.]
Note: Any personnel found to have entered ANM-600-A without prior authorization are to be considered lost and reclassified as KILLED. No recovery attempts are to be made. ANM-600 remains under observation for further anomalous developments.

HOLD ON LMFAO YOU GOTTA SAY MORE ABOUT THE KOMAEDA WIZARD
LMFAO THANK YOU FOR THE INTEREST
a couple of statements from my friend:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so essentially wolf embraces the atrocious luck cycle of komaeda. he casts wild bold at inopportune times (we actively encourage it tho), including when we fought malistaire and did mount olympus. i can recall it hitting 1000 damage only twice. if insane bolt still did the 1000 damage/10000 self damage he would probably use that exclusively. he's the platonic ideal of a glass canon. he's nearly 20 lvls below our other questing partner and has like 1000 health bc he's a storm wizard (we are in celestia). since level 1, he's had this pet with a goated version of tempest with 100% accuracy and 85 damage/pip that carried us hard thru arc 1. its name is captain lucky. he also has handcuffs/chains on his wall in his house because of that one outfit/official art where komaeda is wearing a fucking chain around his neck.
photos of wolf are under the cut bc tumblr formatting is annoying
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(first drawing is mine, second is my friend's.) theres a lot going on in wolf's design lmfao but he's got the white hair, pale skin, and pale eyes of komaeda. and the red/yellow color scheme and mask of char aznable. and wolf ears bc why not.
anyways. wolf is @strangeweaver (art blog @thaumazomai)'s extremely wicked, despair-inducing wizard.

Lets talk mob votes
Now, there are a lot of things in minecraft that I hear people complain about, and I think theres some fair critiques of the game to be made! There's even fair critique to be made about the mob votes, too! But... I'm here to give a clearer perspective on what mob votes really are, as most people seem to misunderstand their context and the actual premise of them... which is somewhat mojangs fault, I'll admit. I stand by critique being welcome as long as you are making informed critique. I'd argue being informed is more important than being constructive / offering alternatives! So lets get to the informing. You might be thinking that its obvious what the mob votes are. Mojang takes like, 3 cool mob concepts that they have, and make us pick only one. They make us vote, and only add the winner. That's a surface level understanding. The simplest part to debunk is a notion that I see often: that Mojang has these mobs entirely designed and planned out. I said concepts but most people don't seem to understand that these are just concepts, they aren't fully fleshed out. They want to know which ones the players like, so that they aren't spending time developing a mob that people don't care much for. They prefer to add what will make people happy! But... what about cases like the allay? It was designed far more deeply than the other mobs in the vote, which I will say was quite unfair. Well, okay, lets just... pretend they did a vote between 3 well-designed mobs. "Why not just add all 3?" people might say. They still... I... I don't think people understand that Mojang operates on a schedule, and tries to balance what they work on - minecraft is a game with a lot of different elements, and none should take the center stage above any other one. It isn't just their job to add mobs. If it was their job to add mobs and they only added like, 1 or 2 mobs a year, then yeah, it'd be really stupid. Though, I suppose my real point is that... if a mob works out good enough to be in their plans, it won't be in a vote. They won't just have a vote where they'll add all 3 because all 3 aren't necessary and they aren't reasonable. Lets take 1.20 for example. They spent time adding new mechanics for detecting where you click on a block for chiseled bookshelves, they gave both the camel and the sniffer fancy animations using the new keyframe system, and armor trims have a very fancy customizable system that makes adding more very easy! They changed up some things in the lighting engine, they're always doing under the hood changes. It's never a choice of "do performance fixes" or "add new content" because they... do both all the time! It's just that it usually yields a net zero. But that's a tangent Point is, yes they can indeed add all 3, but that would take away from the time they have to spend on the update. Mojang is a company that generally tries to avoid crunch, and has summer holidays. I am a supporter of healthy development environments, so I don't mind this. It means that things may take longer, but like. Do we really need all the mobs? Again, if they consider the mob important enough, it won't be in a vote. The vote is just like (Well, d'ya ever take time to think about what its like being at mojang? I bet ideas like the glare or copper golem are thrown around all the time, ideas echoing through the hallways... we only get to see just a few of them. So y'know, you can take that logic and say. well. they probably have WAAAY more than just 3 mobs that a few devs want to add, but they can't feasibly add all those mobs. So they of course just pick a few. 3 or 4. They develop those mobs in a basic level beyond initial concepts, and let the players pick between their little fun ideas. I'd bet that their best ideas are probably not put up into votes. They probably keep those ones locked down and prepare them for further design.) I bet they just... well. continue'd in self-reblog. Char limit-

Funny enough, I do see why the 2010s nostalgia rehash for stages is annoying From 1991-2009 you typically don't have a Sonic Team game revisit an area in another game without major changes (Adventure Ice Cap and Red Mountain are exceptions, though look drastically different due to canon context). I largely suspect this is mainly due to wanting to experience multiple types of areas, in addition to the general theme of adventuring around the world. Part of it helps that locations are specifically named with 2-3 acts max, as opposed to say Mario where it's 8 generic themes with a dozens levels unnamed occupying said theme
The noncanon 8 bit games by Aspect and even Fighters awkwardly ignore this, overusing Green Hill for whatever reason. I guess they assumed Sonic was like Mario in "base home stage" despite him canonically going around the world. Triple Trouble gets weirdly silly, treating it like Angel Island in floating 2010s (Outside Generations) having areas in mainline be overtly based on older areas was deliberate. We got tired cuz of Sonic 4's failure and Lost World's mid reception. Even blatant enemies got reused, when Eggman generally has a multitude of new ones occupying similar roles
For ref for Sonic Team enemy reuse before 2010 -Needlenose (Sonic CD): Reused in Chaotix -Spinner (SA1): Reused in Adv2, Adv3, Unleashed -GUN Wing (SA2): Reused in Rush -GUN Hunter (SA2): Reused in Rush -Buzzer 2 (Adv 2): Reused in Adv 3 -Falco (Heroes): Reused in Rush (recolored) -Egg Pawn (Heroes): Reused in Shadow 05, Rush, Rivals 1 and 2 -Egg Hammer (Heroes): Reused in Rush -Egg Bishop (Heroes): Reused in Rush -Egg Flapper (Heroes): Reused in Rush, Black Knight explicitly for Legacy Missions -Klagen (Heroes): Reused in Rush This is a small list mostly not having enemies reused for mainline titles, though it gets me Rush had less unique enemies compared to Adv 1-3, and Rush Adv So the sense of familiarity Sonic 4/Colors-Runners while strong, did feel weirdly none innovative for Eggman himself lore wise Ironically Forces doesn't explicitly reuse enemy designs despite Chemical Plant and Green Hill. Even then those two stages are actually transformative enough out of context to not feel uninspired, but sadly it was not the first that decade
Tumblr media
Mania similarly in general was criticized for lack of original zones. Even within original zones many old enemies or mechanics returned. If this weren't a game made very late in nostalgia rehashing, it'd be far better received, though nonsensical zone transitions and being explicitly "Classic" for design is still iffy. Nothing prevented them from using "Modern" designs for chars But more importantly, the splitting of Sonic to be two chars has done immense damage to representation. It just made it easier for reviewers to go "Only Classic is good" with Mania doing so, and Forces "failing". And that's a mentality I dislike Unfortunately I'm seeing fans effectively pull the same method of "splitting" for Sonic for "Adventure era" being different than "modern", so whoops Even weirder, I see many Sonic fangames be oddly fascinated with reusing South Island. Even though the mythos of the Emeralds is not specific to it, and certain locales already overused in the franchise. For hating the nostalgia they seem to weirdly self apply it (especially beta stuff), with flimsier lore than official games
I find it messy and limiting overall. Shadow x Gens is still nostalgia appealing, which for Shadow may be more detrimental than intended. I do hope Sonic Team getting more of a budget lets them experiment more again

Every Game I Played in 2023, Ranked
I debated moving this list to Cohost (after all these years, the Tumblr text post interface still makes me want to punch a wall) but whatever, here we are! Keeping it relatively short this year.
A lot of the games I played aren't going to be on this list because I don't have much new to say about them (MTG, Dwarf Fortress, Strive, etc), but for those that I do, here's the games I played this year.
2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022
Tumblr media
SD Gundam Battle Alliance - 2022 - Steam - ★★★
I really wanted to like this- you know I like me some Gundam- but the experience is simultaneously too thin, too grindy, and bereft of stakes. There's nothing like "oh no we have to preserve the Gundam metaverse from hackers ruining the archived story!" to make me go to sleep.
There's something about the progression system of every "hey, gotta catch 'em all!"-ish Gundam games that is designed exclusively for people who either played these games in the early 00s, or people with addictive personalities. There's been little in the way of evolution. Yeah, the gameplay here is different as a sort of Action RPG, but this is far more Dynasty Warriors than it is say Armored Core.
Just not for me!
... Where's my new Super Robot Wars at damn it?
Tumblr media
9. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet DLC - 2023 - Switch - ★★★★
I talked last year about how I mostly liked this game in spite of its many, many issues. The DLC mostly plays to SV's strengths: fun plot and characters, improved open world catching system from Sword/Shield. They also run considerably better, due to a year of opportunity to make things more stable and address bugs.
That said: It doesn't address any of the other issues that have always been there. Open world exploration becomes kind of pointless when you have the ability to invalidate any level geometry. There is such a thing as too much mobility, believe it or not, when you can just jump over everything. At the same time, the ways cutscenes work is soooo slowwwww, to the point that getting through them to the "action" can be quite tedious.
This DLC also continues the unfortunate thing that drives me nuts about all these DLC, that the level scaling is just awful. It basically assumes you have done literally nothing since finishing Scarlet Violet, and not engaged at all with the post game. Which hey, works out for Lil Timmy who is experiencing this DLC in-line with the base game or only after beating it (since it does dynamically scale for earlier progression), but it makes the whole thing kind of a rote exercise for those who actually played the game more than that?
I realize this is multiple decades now of me barking that hey, it'd be nice if Pokemon didn't exclusively try to appeal to 5 year olds, which is definitely a lost cause at this point. We don't even get stuff like Battle Towers or Frontiers anymore really. Ah well!
Tumblr media
8. Street Fighter 6 - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★
Ok, here's the thing: Street Fighter 6 is overall a very good game, lots of care and polish, but I got a few bones to pick with it.
1. I kind of hate its input buffer. Just drives me nuts, particularly with how it handles supers and specials with overlapping inputs.
2. World Tour while is neat, the progression of it is so goddamn grindy and miserable. So much HP for enemies as you go on, and you don't have access to a fighter's full skill set even at the very end due to how special "slots" work.
3. The cast feels too safe. I like the new additions a lot, and in general the old chars have been rendered quite well, but there's just not a lot of innovation going on. The system mechanics are quite good, but it's the thing where no one on the cast really calls out to me. Personal taste thing.
Tumblr media
Marvel's Spider-Man - 2022 - Steam - ★★★★
I don't think I have anything particularly unique to say about The Spider-Man Experience beyond hey: that's a pretty good Spider-Man. I think the DLC was obnoxious as shit, and a number of the decisions tied to box-checking-completionist stuff were mean for someone like me who has the stupid brain that thinks it's important to do Everything no matter how tedious it is, but overall: a good Spider-Man. Some of the villain stuff felt pretty weak though.

7. Resident Evil 4 Remake - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
A great remake! They trimmed down some areas a fair but, but none of them particularly egregious (some of them, particularly a last act boss being removed, was quite appreciated), and the mechanical additions are fun.
Does it invalidate the old version? I dunno, maybe?
Tumblr media
6. We Love Katamari Re:Roll - 2023 - Steam / Switch - ★★★★★
Hey, you know what's also a very good game? We Love Katamari. Not much new to say beyond hey: the name is accurate, and you should buy and play it. I liked it enough to buy it twice on two platforms, which is silly but it gave me the excuse to play more Katamari so quite understandable.
A thing that does annoy me about the game is them reusing certain models from the other Katamari Remake, even when they were deliberately replaced in We Love Katamari and are even called out as different in the item descriptions despite not being so. Arrgh. It doesn't really matter, but I got the dumb brain for that kind of thing.
Tumblr media
5. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
A fighting game that I enjoyed years past now has actually good netcode! The mechanical additions have been very nice, and I've been enjoying myself grinding away for my meager gains. It's also funny having skipped all the base game's DLC and coming in now, since it's like this release just added 20 more chars I'd otherwise not engaged with before.
A ton of polish has made this a fantastic package across the board, so many smart decisions and little details. I'm sure for GranBlue gacha fans it's probably incredible as something that pays tribute as well.
… but see, my main annoyance with the game mostly ties to being unable to stand the source material it pulls from. It's not enough to diminish my positive feelings for the game, but none the less: man, everything about the lore and characters themselves just does NOTHING for me. This is nothing particularly unique to GranBlue itself even, it's pretty in line with how I feel about every gacha title that exists to roll out chars and appeal to as many niches as possible without real forward movement or actual story, but hey here we are.
Looking forward to that 2B.
Tumblr media
4. Baldur's Gate 3 - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
A game I admittedly haven't completed yet (I got up to a certain kidnapping in the last act and had to set it aside due to stuff repeatedly coming up for the past couple months) but still: this is a very good tactical RPG. I enjoy the writing, characters, and gameplay quite a lot. A ton of polish went into this.
I don't think I have much to say about it that hasn't been said by others, especially with all the Discourse that has circled it for months-to-years now across Early Access into release.
If there's one thing that does kind of annoy me about the game design, it's the way the player characters are handled. You have the option during character creator to create a character with a number of character-build-y backgrounds, or use their pre-built characters that have existing stories. This choice is lose-lose.
A fully custom character is blank, unimportant. There's nothing special about them beyond their affinity with a certain orb and being Protagonist Man. Their background doesn't really matter, even as you express your personality. You have nothing behind you that meaningfully comes up or affects the story (no Gorion, etc) beyond your role in the conflict. In other words, there's not a lot of reason for you to exist except as a cypher for the named characters.
Playing one of the named characters also sucks, because you lose those the writing for those characters. If I'm stuck aping Karlach, I have no Karlach in my party. You barely even get voice acting once you choose to play those characters either. You effectively end up with less writing and characterization, which kind of sucks! Yes, you do get your backgrounds being looped in and mattering more, which is indeed something, but not enough.
There is secretly a third option that, the more I think about it, is the correct one, they just don't tell you it. You can choose your character background to be tied to the Dark Urge, which results in a lot unique interactions, gives your character an actual background and comes up, etc. They don't outright make this the main option presumably because it comes with a lot of baggage (which, yeah, it does), but it seems completely worth it by comparison to just flitting through the story as either a ghost or the phantom of a real character.
Tumblr media
3. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Remastered - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
Play Ghost Trick.
Tumblr media
2. Armored Core VI - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
From Software continues to not miss. Fantastic game, some of the most satisfying mecha combat I've played. Story is great; it's still your usual "oops we're not explaining much other than in medias res or by circumstantial details" that From Soft has continued to double down on, but I really enjoy that stuff so hey. I 100%'d this game, got all the endings etc. Great stuff.
Really want some proper DLC so I can do even more, though.
Tumblr media
1. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 2023 - Steam - ★★★★★
Let's face it: this wasn't going to end any other way. Breath of the Wild is probably my favorite game of all time, and this is basically just more of that, remixed and remastered into a Second Quest that builds on the first one.
Something I kept thinking about while playing is that while there is volumetrically more to do, more things happening, more mechanics, etc etc, the different approach it takes in terms of focus and approach doesn't make it necessarily a "strictly better" version of Breath of the Wild.
Breath of the Wild was deliberately spare, quiet, and minimalist. Like the name says, its about the quiet wilderness, a poignant world that you explore. Tears of the Kingdom drops much of that, in many ways turning into a kooky madcap version of BOTW. You don't spent nearly as much time smelling the roses and taking in the scenery, as you're often too busy blasting by using any number of the new movement abilities or combat tools or literal flying machines you can now Nuts and Bolts together.
It's a deliberate escalation, one that in my opinion requires the preceding part to work. They add together into one complete singular experience, rather than pulling against each other. That's awesome, exactly what I wanted. Now I get to have two favorite games of all time that are secretly just one-and-the-same.
Some minor thoughts:
1. Lots of great writing and characterization, built up well on BOTW there.
2. It's kind of funny how much it goes out of the way to avoid talking much about BOTW in case someone plays this game first.
3. The last of a Master mode this time around is kind of a bummer but oh well!
4. The vehicle crafting system and everything about it, including the way it plays into the existing physics system is fucking insane. Absolutely incredible game design. Bonkers.
I'm really curious how the hell they're going to follow these games up. Going back to square-0 from this formula- one that is so built up and diverse, seems like it'd be impossible to me. What the hell could you do? Looking forward to finding out.

Our Kedarkantha Trek tour package is meticulously designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and truly immersive experience. While specific itineraries may vary slightly, a typical Kedarkantha Trek with Sar Outdoors follows a well-paced plan, ensuring proper acclimatization and maximum enjoyment. The Kedarkantha trek starting point is usually Sankri, a picturesque village that serves as the base for many treks in the region.
Here’s a glimpse into the journey:
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (Drive: Approx. 200 km / 7-8 hrs)
Your adventure begins with a comfortable pick-up from Dehradun, a common meeting point.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the Garhwal Himalayas, passing through charming villages and alongside beautiful rivers.
Arrive at Sankri, the quaint Kedarkantha trek starting point, nestled amidst apple orchards and pine forests. Settle into your guesthouse/homestay.
Overnight stay in Sankri.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab (Trek: Approx. 4 km / 3-4 hrs)
After a hearty breakfast, begin your first day of trekking in Kedarkantha. The trail ascends gently through dense pine and maple forests.
Reach Juda-ka-Talab, a picturesque high-altitude lake, believed to have mythological significance. In winter, it's often frozen, offering a surreal sight.
Set up camp by the lake, enjoy the serene surroundings, and acclimatize.
Overnight stay in tents at Juda-ka-Talab.
Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp (Trek: Approx. 4 km / 2-3 hrs)
A relatively shorter and gradual ascent today. The trail continues through dense forests, with glimpses of snow-capped peaks.
Reach the sprawling Kedarkantha Base Camp. From here, you get your first magnificent views of the Kedarkantha summit and surrounding ranges.
Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the summit push. Witness a spectacular sunset.
Overnight stay in tents at Kedarkantha Base Camp.
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit and Descend to Hargaon (Trek: Approx. 6 km ascent + 6 km descent / 7-8 hrs total)
The most exciting day! Begin your summit push early in the morning (around 2-3 AM) to witness the sunrise from the top.
The trail can be challenging, especially in deep snow in Kedarkantha, but the experience is exhilarating.
Reach the Kedarkantha trek summit. Celebrate your achievement, soak in the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Himalayan peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpunch, Black Peak, and more.
Begin your descent, often enjoying sliding on fresh snow (conditions permitting), down to Hargaon.
Overnight stay in tents/guesthouses at Hargaon.
Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri (Trek: Approx. 6 km / 3-4 hrs) and Drive to Dehradun (Approx. 200 km / 7-8 hrs)
A relatively easy descent through picturesque villages and terraced fields back to Sankri.
Enjoy a final meal in Sankri, then board your vehicle for the scenic drive back to Dehradun.
Your memorable Kedarkantha trek concludes upon arrival in Dehradun.
This itinerary for Kedarkantha ensures a rewarding pace for the Kedarkantha trek time, balancing adventure with adequate rest. The total Kedarkantha trekking km covered is approximately 20-22 km.
Best Time to Experience the Kedarkantha Trek
The beauty of Kedarkantha lies in its versatility, offering distinct experiences across different seasons:
Winter (December to April): The Snow Trek Dream
This is the most popular time for the winter Kedarkantha trek, synonymous with abundant snow in Kedarkantha. The entire landscape is blanketed in white, offering stunning vistas and the joy of trekking through fresh powder.
The Kedarkantha trek winter experience is truly magical, but it also requires proper gear and preparation for cold temperatures. The Kedarkantha trekking best time for snow lovers is undoubtedly this period.
Spring (May to June): Lush Greenery and Clear Skies
As the snow melts, the trails become lush green, with rhododendrons blooming in vibrant colours.
The weather is milder, and the skies are often clearer, offering unobstructed views of the peaks. This is an excellent time for those who prefer comfortable temperatures and verdant landscapes.
This period also marks the Kedarkantha trek summer season, ideal for a refreshing break.
Autumn (September to November): Golden Hues and Crisp Air
The post-monsoon period offers crystal-clear views, crisp air, and a landscape adorned in golden and russet hues as deciduous trees change colour.
The trails are usually dry and comfortable, making for pleasant trekking conditions.
Sar Outdoors helps you choose the Kedarkantha trekking best time that aligns with your preferred experience.

Why Train Travel is the Best Way to Do a Tirth Yatra
Tumblr media
A Tirth Yatra is not just a trip—it's a deeply personal spiritual experience. For centuries, pilgrims in India have journeyed to sacred sites seeking peace, blessings, and inner clarity. While the modes of travel have changed over time, one method still stands strong: travelling by train. In today’s fast-moving world, Tirth Yatra packages by train offer the perfect balance of comfort, affordability, and tradition.
1. Wide Connectivity Across Spiritual Hubs
India's railway network is one of the most extensive in the world, connecting remote pilgrimage towns to major cities. Whether it's Haridwar, Varanasi, Rameshwaram, or Dwarka, most holy destinations are well-served by regular trains. This makes train travel the most convenient option, especially for long-distance yatras involving multiple stops.
2. Comfort for Long Journeys
Unlike cramped buses or tiring road trips, trains provide ample space, clean washrooms, sleeping berths, and food services—making them ideal for overnight or multi-day travel. Senior citizens and families particularly benefit from the restful environment, allowing them to arrive at each tirth sthan fresh and calm.
3. Budget-Friendly Option
When compared to flights or private road travel, trains are significantly more affordable. This allows more people to participate in religious journeys without worrying about high travel costs. Many Tirth Yatra packages by train offer group discounts and inclusive pricing, which covers everything from tickets to accommodation and local transfers.
4. A Traditional and Cultural Experience
Trains have long been a part of India’s spiritual landscape. Sharing a meal with fellow passengers, exchanging stories of devotion, or reciting bhajans together—all of this brings an enriching community feeling that enhances the Yatra experience. The journey itself becomes a part of the pilgrimage.
5. Ideal for Group Pilgrimages
Most pilgrims travel in groups—whether it’s a family, a religious society, or a local community. Trains make it easier to travel together in one coach or compartment, maintaining the group’s spiritual rhythm and collective focus. Many travel operators also provide Tirth Yatra packages by train specifically designed for group bookings with added amenities.
6. Access to Remote and Lesser-Known Shrines
While air travel covers only major cities, trains can take you closer to lesser-known spiritual gems—places that don’t have airports or are difficult to reach by road. This gives pilgrims the opportunity to explore beyond the usual and connect with rare temples and sacred spots often missed in mainstream tours.
7. Reliable and Safe
Indian Railways has made vast improvements in safety, hygiene, and punctuality over the years. With the availability of different classes (from sleeper to AC 1st class), pilgrims can choose their level of comfort. Plus, group travel in trains is generally considered safer, with less hassle in terms of luggage and logistics.
8. Flexible Itineraries for Different Yatras
Whether you're going on a Char Dham Yatra, a Jyotirlinga circuit, or a Southern pilgrimage, there’s always a train route that suits the plan. Trusted operators now offer custom Tirth Yatra packages by train that cover not just the major temples but also include guided darshan, local sightseeing, and stay arrangements.
Conclusion
For those seeking a peaceful, affordable, and traditional way to visit sacred places across India, train travel stands out as the best choice. The journey becomes just as meaningful as the destination. With Tirth Yatra packages by train, pilgrims get more than just travel—they get a complete spiritual experience, thoughtfully arranged for maximum comfort and spiritual fulfillment.

At Tucan Bakery, we’ve never believed in playing it safe. Known for pushing the boundaries of traditional baking, we’ve taken everything people love about pizza—crispy crusts, melty cheese, rich sauces—and given it an electrifying Mexican twist.
We’re talking roasted jalapeños, chipotle-infused tomato bases, spiced chorizo, carnitas, caramelized onion, fresh cilantro, and even dollops of lime crema. Every bite is a fiesta. Every slice tells a story.
This is Mexican pizza Puerto Banus didn’t know it needed—but now absolutely can’t live without.
Why Tucan Bakery Is the Epicenter of Puerto Banus Pizza Culture
1. Artisanal Quality. Street Food Soul. Every dough ball is handcrafted and slow-fermented. Every topping is prepared fresh, using locally sourced ingredients and authentic Mexican flavors. Our chefs don’t cut corners—they cut jalapeños, avocados, and sizzling hot ideas.
2. A Hidden Gem with a Wild Following We may be known as a bakery, but Tucan has become an underground legend for Mexican pizza in Puerto Banus. Word is spreading fast, and lines are growing longer. But insiders know: come early, and you’ll get the freshest slice of your life.
3. Perfect for Every Occasion Looking for something wildly different for your beach day, yacht party, or late-night food fix? Our Mexican pizzas are perfect for sharing—or hoarding. We don’t judge.
The Signature Pizzas That Make Puerto Banus Obsessed
At Tucan Bakery, every pizza tells a different story—but they all end the same way: pure satisfaction. Here are a few of the fan favorites that are putting Mexican pizza Puerto Banus on the culinary map:
El Fuego: Spicy chorizo, roasted poblanos, and a fire-roasted chipotle sauce. A crowd favorite that brings the heat without overwhelming the flavor.
Tijuana Tinga: Shredded chicken tinga, cotija cheese, sweet corn, and cilantro crema. Smoky, sweet, and impossibly good.
Verde Veggie Viva: Grilled zucchini, charred corn, avocado slices, queso fresco, and a drizzle of tangy tomatillo salsa. A vegetarian dream.
Carne Supreme Baja: Pulled beef barbacoa, jalapeños, pickled red onions, and Oaxaca cheese on a thick golden crust. This is serious comfort food with an attitude.
You won’t find these in any chain pizzeria or tourist trap. These are authentic flavors fused with passion, made fresh in the heart of Puerto Banus, only at Tucan Bakery.

Whether you’re a seasoned grill master or new to the kitchen, this Spicy Grilled Shrimp recipe is delightfully simple, reliably delicious, and sure to impress every time.
Here’s What You’ll Need to Make Spicy Grilled Shrimp
Tumblr media
Gather these ingredients to get started:
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup fresh lime juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce or Sriracha (for heat)
2 pounds raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
Fresh cilantro (about ¼ cup, chopped), for garnish
Lime wedges, for serving
Don’t forget to prep everything on a hygienic and reliable surface, like the ChopChop Titanium Cutting Board, to ensure cleanliness and flavor integrity.
How to Make Spicy Grilled Shrimp
Tumblr media
Looking for a quick, flavorful dish that’s perfect for weeknights or summer grilling? Spicy Grilled Shrimp delivers bold heat, zesty lime, and juicy texture in just minutes. With a simple marinade and a fast cook time, it’s a go-to recipe for effortless, crowd-pleasing meals.
Prepare the Marinade
In a large mixing bowl or resealable bag, whisk together the olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce (or Sriracha). This flavorful marinade blends tangy, sweet, salty, and spicy notes, infusing the shrimp with bold flavor in very little time. You can also mix the marinade in advance and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours to make dinner prep even faster.
Marinate the Shrimp
Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade and toss until well coated. Cover the bowl or seal the bag, and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes.
Avoid marinating too long—thanks to the acidity in the lime juice, the shrimp can start to "cook" (like in ceviche) if left too long. While the shrimp are marinating, prep your grill or grill pan and get any sides or garnishes ready.
Skewer or Not?
If you're using an outdoor grill, threading the shrimp onto skewers makes flipping easier and keeps them from falling through the grates.
No skewers? No problem. Use a grill basket or simply cook them directly on a well-oiled grill or grill pan indoors.
Grill the Shrimp
Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the shrimp on the grill in a single layer. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink, curl up, and develop light grill marks or a slight char.
Garnish and Serve
Transfer the shrimp to a platter and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges on the side for squeezing.
Tips for the Spicy Grilled Shrimp
Want perfectly grilled, flavorful shrimp every time? These quick tips will help you maximize taste, avoid overcooking, and make your prep smoother and faster.
Don’t overcook shrimp
Shrimp cook quickly, usually in just 2–3 minutes per side. Overcooking leads to a rubbery, tough texture. Remove them from the grill as soon as they turn pink and opaque.
Use metal skewers or soak wooden ones
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Metal skewers are reusable and heat-resistant, making grilling easier.
Marinate longer for deeper flavor
Let shrimp marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow spices and seasonings to fully infuse each bite.
Add a touch of honey
A small drizzle of honey in the marinade adds a hint of sweetness that balances the heat, giving the shrimp a delicious sweet-heat kick.
Serve with a creamy dipping sauce
Pair with cilantro-lime crema or garlic aioli to cool down the spice and add a luscious, tangy finish.
Prepare your vegetables and proteins safely using the ChopChop USA Double-Sided Titanium Cutting Board, designed to prevent cross-contamination with its hygienic, dual-surface functionality.
Pair This Spicy Grilled Shrimp With
This Spicy Grilled Shrimp is delicious with:
Cilantro-lime rice – The bright, zesty flavors of lime and fresh cilantro perfectly balance the heat from the shrimp, creating a refreshing side that elevates the dish.
Grilled corn on the cob – Smoky, sweet, and slightly charred corn adds a satisfying crunch and complements the shrimp’s bold flavor.
Avocado and tomato salad – Creamy avocado, juicy tomatoes, and a light vinaigrette make this a cool and creamy contrast to the spice.
Soft tortillas for tacos – Turn your shrimp into easy, crowd-pleasing tacos. Add shredded cabbage, a drizzle of crema, and a squeeze of lime for a full meal.
Garlic butter noodles – Rich and savory, these noodles offer a buttery, garlicky base that pairs beautifully with the spicy shrimp.
