The Phantom Martian: Chapter 7

Got a long one for you today. Hope you'll understand why :)

(It's DEFINITELY not because of Danny. Nope, no, never him!)

This fic is a crossover between Danny Phantom x The Martian. You don't have to have read/watched The Martian to understand this fic. I also incorporated a ton of ectoscience into this fic just to confuse The Martian fandom. Just kidding, I was very nice and explained things.

Summary: When Astronaut Mark Watney went to Mars, he knew there was a chance he'd never come home. Now, though, he's determined to last long enough for NASA to save him because this whole dying for science thing is not as fun as it sounds.

Meanwhile, Danny Fenton is just trying to keep his identity a secret amidst a potential crisis with his powers. Seriously, what's up with that weird current under his skin? Why is he having so much trouble controlling it? And why does it feel so familiar...?

In a fit of determination (and possible stupidity), Danny goes to Mars to save Watney, only to add to both their crises when he arrives and can't get home. Will NASA save them? Will Danny have a home to return to if they do?

Danny sighed. Was he really doing this? He was raised by an ectobiologist and an ecto-engineer. Surely he didn't need to stoop to this level.

But as he recounted all the times he'd tuned his parents out while they were rambling about ghosts, he concluded that this might be a good idea.

It beat asking them, anyway. A fifteen minute video was much better than a three hour dissertation.

“Fuck it,” he said, clicking on a video titled, ‘What are ghosts? Let's talk ghost basics!’

Almost immediately, an overenthusiastic man with mousy brown hair and glasses assaulted his vision. The “Hey guys!” he gave was obnoxiously chipper, and Danny almost clicked away from the video on instinct.

“Don't patronize me,” he hissed instead, skipping over the almost three minute long introduction. Seriously, Danny didn't come here to be coddled. Just spit the information out, already!

Only when the backdrop to the video changed to a whiteboard did Danny stop smashing the forward arrow.

“So, let's talk death!” the man said, grabbing a marker. He wrote D-E-A-T-H on the board in blue. “What happens when we die?”

“I came back but wrong,” Danny muttered.

Neglecting the weirdness of my head canon that the Infinite Realms are a time positive, entropy decreasing universe, how come nobody’s out there making ectoplasm give plasma burns? At the very least, people are getting hit with, essentially, pure energy and that should really do something weird or horrifying. That being said, for the level of ecto-contamination we fanon in Amity Park, there’s a decided lack of spontaneously reanimating foodstuffs and/or organically sourced products (anything made out of wood or from animal flesh...those alligator skin purses are looking pretty snappy right about now [Sam would love that])

Jason, hearing about Danny: ah two of my least favorite people in a single person. Great.

Jason actually meeting Danny: wait what why am I vibing with this guy.

If we’re doing Danny as a genetically engineered clone kid, can Jazz be one as well. Since Danny is from Batman, and Conner Kent is from Superman, I wanna say Jazz was from Wonder Woman, but I also don’t know much about WW’s rouges gallery. A quick google search says Chetah is her main villain, and she does have red hair, so maybe?

I just want the three most famous and recognizable members of the justice league freaking out over the fact that they have clone kids with their main villains.

There’s just so much potential for crack. Jazz and Danny meet up with Conner and Dani to form a support group.

Since Jazz’s other mom is Chetah, Danny relentlessly teases her that her bio-mom is a real life cat girl. At least until she points out that he’s the one who started purring first.

Actually, maybe that’s how they found out? Jazz got claws or something, and Jack and Maddie actually noticed, but then got really weird about it, like they were hiding something. So they get Tucker to hack their files and search for anything with certain keywords, including Jazz’s name and cat/claw related terms, and they get a hit on some way older documents than they expected. Two years into the experiment, they talk about running it again with different parameters…

Jack and Maddie finally work up the courage to tell their daughter that night, only for Jazz to pull out files that she should not have known about, much less have, and now they have to explain some shit to both their kids.

Unfortunately for everyone a bot that Oracle had made picks up on a large, poorly encrypted data transfer (FW not serious about security) with information pertaining to two big villains, and she got a copy of the files.

I’ve seen a couple aus where Danny is the son of the Joker and Harley so let me raise this idea: Danny is a clone made of Joker’s and Bruce’s dna. No one involved is aware of this fact until Danny visits Gotham for a school trip and Bruce realizes this kid looks a little too similar to him and secretly takes a dna test on him. How would Bruce react? How would the rest of his family feel about this? How would the JOKER react to this?

Pros of EctoScience Au: Danny is much closer to his parents, and..... Ok make that a singular Pro. Which is also a con when I think about it-

Btw I kinda dislike how many characters have eyes of every damn colour of the rainbow except brown & black like damn does ecto contamination give you Alexandria's Genesis or smt /sarc

P.S: a lot of the damage doesn't apply to ghost form, but he sure as hell feels it after transforming back haha.... Ha.... *Stares into corner Blair Witch Style*

Pictured: A nice conversation about how no, the Master of Time cannot tell you when your ghost half will overtake your human half completely in an effort to keep it alive in spite of the wounds it sustained slowly worsening overtime. Not because there's some cosmic rule against it but because you know the estimate anyways due to running tests on yourself. Don't even try to deny it. he saw it. 🙄
