Oh Elite. S4 wasn’t good. S5 actively made me angry. I actually liked s6. S7 and 8 were very eh and I have no memory of what really happened. But s1-3? The og Elite? That show changed my life. I’m not even kidding.

The Use of Dragonskins (HTTYD/RTTE)

Hello, my fellow Furians! Welcome to another article! Today, we'll be talking about dragonskins and their usage.

In the HTTYD books, dragonskins are used to make fireproof items and are even commonly used to make fireproof suits. It's also meant to be worn as a type of body armor. Either it can refute arrows or cuts, or it was used to defend against dragon fire (since in this world, Vikings used dragons as hunting companions and steeds of war like how one uses horses and dogs). According to "How To Twist A Dragon's Tale", the Lava-Lout Tribe were particularly famous and distinctive for always wearing dragonskin suits to protect them from fire and heat, since they live on a volcanic island.

In the TV series, it's quite different. There are no scenes that provide evidence that dragonskin have anti-fire properties. At best, Eruptadon saliva does that. While Buffalord saliva is the only known cure for Odin's Scourge. However, it's also true that there hasn't been any evidence AGAINST the dragonskins used by the Dragon Hunters and Flyers having anti-fire properties. Considering their occupations, it's logical to assume that the dragonskins they wear provide some if not complete protection against fire.

Interestingly, though, in the last two films, HTTYD 2 and HTTYD 3, there are clear signs of dragon scales and dragonskins being used as direct fire protection agents.

Also, the dragonskin gear that Dragon Hunters and Flyers wear must have anti-dragon protection since they keep returning in following episodes like Stormtroopers. Though that could just be your typical DreamWorks Dragons cloning technique. 😂

That being said, though, it kinda defeats the purpose of fire protection if most of your skin and flammable clothes are exposed to flame. 😂

However, unlike in the books, in the TV series (and in the films), dragonskins also have another purpose: a statement of status and fashion.

Aside from the fact that they look aesthetically pleasing to wear, it's also a show of one's prowess and status as a man and as a warrior. As Hiccup had even said in the first film:

"Killing dragons is everything around here. A Nadder head is sure to get me at least noticed. Gronckles are tough. Taking down one of those would definitely get me a girlfriend. A Zippleback? Exotic. Two heads, twice the status. Then, there's the Monstrous Nightmare. Only the best Vikings go after those."

As such, in Archipelagoan society, even if we discount differences between the Inner Isles and the rest of the Archipelago, there is a hierarchy or meritocracy that is based on what dragons you kill, and how many of them. And it's also based on how difficult these dragons are to kill. Speaking of which, Mildew was mentioned to have been an excellent dragon slayer in his younger days.

In fact, the "Deadly Dozen" who pursue and hunt the Gang in S5's "Dawn of Destruction" and the two-part "Wings of War" episodes are all wearing dragonskins from these dragons, signifying their status and prowess as elites.

Hiccup goes on to saying this:

"No one has ever killed a Night Fury. That's why I'm going to be the first."

Night Furies were considered by many to be the ultimate prey — the coveted prize to fame, glory, and fortune. While no one on Berk had ever seen a Night Fury let alone slain one, Hiccup was desperate to kill one in order to be accepted as a Viking like the rest of his community. (Only for him to wimp out in the end and become friends with one. lol 😂😉) Had he gone through with it, he would've had a luxurious dragonskin that would've boosted his status among the many famous Viking heroes in Archipelago and Berkian history.

Interestingly, in HTTYD 3, Grimmel, the villain, and a contrasting portrayal of what Hiccup could've become, says this:

"When I was a boy and I came up on a Night Fury, I killed it where it slept. That simple act of courage made me a hero in my village."

Strangely though, he doesn't wear anything to show his prowess or achievements. For somebody who boasts about having practically slain every Night Fury in existence (a declaration that I doubt in itself since it's technically impossible in this era), he doesn't wear anything to represent that, like a Night Fury dragonskin cloak, or outfit, or Night Fury claws or teeth. Nothing. Just... boring old leather. 🙄

However, it's different with Drago from HTTYD 2. As you can see from the picture below, he's wearing a cloak of dragonskin which he uses as both a status statement and also as something to shield him from dragonfire.

Of course, as much as I'd like to declare that to be Night Fury skin, there's no proof of it being so, and could easily be some other type of dragon. But if it is, it could be the skin of an older Night Fury. It looked darker in the film, but whatever.

So in conclusion, dragonskins are used for their anti-fire properties (to protect them from dragonfire and from fire in general), as a fashion statement, and most importantly as a status symbol that showcases their prowess and accomplishments as warriors. Dragonskins make good tent material, apparently, as evidenced by the Dragon Hunters.

idk kinda need to see rafe jealous of sofia with another guy before this show ends, it'll be so satisfying to see especially with the current circumstances, like rafe one of the first times comes back to kildare and sees sofia he sees another guy flirting with sofia and rafe is seething about it maybe even causes a scene then queue an angsty scene with sofia getting mad at him because he broke up with her via a phone call and did not let her explain, but i know it'll never happen😭

knowing the pates they'll make rafe spend most of his time in lisbon and then like an episode back in kildare and then suddenly rofia get together after rafe realises he made a mistake bc their ass at writing😒

like i know they said their story will continue and i believe they will too but i want there to be good writing this time around, a rofia and sofia backstory!!!! they could insert them both so easily, like moments in s5 where any of these where she's thinking of rafe, something reminds her of him or doing the typical scrolling through picture scenes that elite tv ships do when the other misses the other and after any of these there's a slow fade to a flashback of their first meeting, it also makes no sense for them to put these lines here and there plus the showing sofia's family and then proceed to not explain them further or have an episode dedicated to her, they can easily do either but they aren't bc of time constraints and they deem the pogues storyline more favourable, idk maybe cut out those useless topper scenes for sofia the character people actually care about!!!!

Like yes, Sofia trying to move on and forget about him and Rafe seeing this and getting super jealous and mad, which only makes her angrier, because how dare he get mad when he was the one who ended their engagement so quickly? No because I need this scene for my sanity. Cue angsty argument which ends with Sofia being like

“Why do you care huh? You broke up with me and kicked me out of your house?”

“Because I love you!” (*impassioned declaration of love from rafe!*)

“Then why did you throw it all away?” (*her veneer of anger breaks and she shows him how much he really hurt herrrr!!*)

Yessss totally!! I need to see how she reacted to his cruel break up and how she moved on/dealt with it. I neeeeed Sofia scenes outside of rafe, and I also need rafe to yearn for her in Lisbon!! Like yes, the elite looking through the camera roll and reminiscing!! Like Rafe wistfully looking at Sofia’s picture whilst he’s away from her and he suddenly regrets everythinggg!!!

No literally, why dedicate an episode to her family life and situation– they need to bank on it and show her family again, make them important to Rafe’s story in some way!!

Stranger Things 5 speculation based on the episode titles and what we know from D&D

Vanishing of Holly Wheeler?

I already shared that I think Episode 2 is Holly Wheeler: "IF this information is accurate, I'm guessing the missing Wheeler is Holly. They have a new actress to play her. I think they're returning to s1 themes and the horror of a child being in danger is one thing they might get back to. The 1st episode would give them time to make her a character we care about. (And probably stabilize the situation at the end of s4.) It would also consume the entire Wheeler family into getting Holly back. Karen will be beside herself. Nancy will be tough and take charge. Will will have to unearth his memories of the Upside Down, and possibly use his connection, to help MIKE and NANCY get back their little sister. One possible road to BYLER is Will having to reexperience his trauma and possibly sacrifice himself to help his best friend."

Camazotz

I see a LOT of interest in episode 6 title "Escape from Camazotz"... I think for ANY speculation we HAVE to go to where our D&D nerds would go, which is the Dungeons & Dragons sourcebooks in the 80s. Camazotz was published in Deities & Demigods for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (1980). It is the "bat god," so we're probably going to see it tied to the demobats.

We learn from Deities & Demigods that the Aztec and Mayan gods have "inscrutable motives"... which is ON BRAND for the Cthulhu inspirations of Stranger Things. These gods come from a "parallel universe." Clerics "are the elite of the populace," and are able to cast "commune or gate spells" to connect the planes together. ("Will the Wise" has been the cleric of the party... perhaps he is a cleric?)

Also, these gods "unusual nature makes it impossible for them to travel on any planes but the ones that they have worshipers on." Maybe Vecna needed to have a host on the "Right Side Up", to take form here, which is very consistent with the s2 and s3 plotlines.

The clerics perform human sacrifices... maybe another theme in s5??

But perhaps JUST as important, the adventure D&D module Hidden Shrine of Tomoachan (1980) involved an ancient temple dedicated to Camazotz. Odds are that our heroes will be trying to escape from a "temple" within the Upside Down. According to the Wikipedia article about this adventure, it is "full of tricks and traps".

As a "tournament module," meaning for competition purposes, and it was EXPECTED that heroes died in it because it was so deadly. The goal "is to get out of the ruins before time runs out." The lower levels (where the heroes begin) have a poisonous gas that slowly kill them. Also it is very unstable, spells will cause a collapse. If El were caught in it, it might be dangerous to use her powers.

This adventure debuted the gibbering mouther, a very distinct D&D monster that is VERY reminiscent of the s3 Flayer and would be VERY on-theme for Stranger Things:

The Sorcerer

Also, Episode 5 is titled "The Sorcerer." Sorcerer was not a class yet in D&D in the late 1980s. (The idea that Sorcerers have innate arcane power versus Wizards who study magic, was not invented yet until 2000.) Sorcerer was one of the many titles that Magic Users had (next to Wizard). Sorcerers had less power than Wizards. They were 9th level, while Wizards were 11th level:

It is already established that El is "the Wizard." Maybe there's another person with powers in season 5 which are less developed? If so, the most logical choice would be Will. It's confirmed that this season will focus on him. Although he's a "cleric" in their D&D game, maaaaybe he finds out he has new abilities. There was a reason Vecna didn't kill in season 1, and who has had "truesight" since.

That's what I can find for now! There's a lot of interesting traps and puzzles, with illustrations, from the adventure. But it's hard to predict what else (if anything) they might borrow from it! The aspect of escaping, and the poison gas and the timer, are probably what we can most rely on!

P.S. I mainly blog about Byler, but I thought my D&D knowledge would be useful for this one. If interested, follow and read my blog! I have so much to say!

Do you think Rudy will come back after all this stuff coming out

Do I hope it until the very end? Yes, but it’s probably part of my coping mechanism and still being in denial.

Realistically? Sadly, I highly doubt it.

I think that even before the release of the finale he wanted to put a definite end to this experience…and honestly I think that all the shit online towards his girlfriend and the articles about the “feud” only made the situation worse. To me this collective behavior is only contributing to confirm his decision (and I’m not talking about expressing the disappointed towards the season and the writing, I’d be an hypocrite ‘cause I’m the n.1 doing it as you can see, I mean the insults and gossip and hate)

The only thing I could possibly maybe see for it to work out is if the producers get to a point of actually fearing for the show and result to close to begging him, offering more money or coming to an agreement for the shortest amount of episodes as possible.

But to be fair, we’re all focusing on Rudy but even the writers we don’t know if they want to or have the intention to do something about it, yes the backlash is massive and I’m the first one advocating under their social media (THE SHOW’S ONE, let’s leave the cast alone pls)…but it’s a big plot to turn around and we don’t know if they’re willing to, also ‘cause we don’t know how far S5 is already into writing, depends on how much there would be to scrap up and start again as well, delaying means more money and I don’t think at the moment Netflix is well intentioned for accommodating OBX and it’s madness. (Obx makes TONS of money for Netflix and they even invest so much into it with production budget, events, merch etc. so no one can convince me that THIS is the reason why they cut it short to one more season and that’s it…they renewed that shitshow that’s Elite since forever just for money)

I think it’s a hope that I don’t want to let go and I won’t give up advocating for it until I see them on that set until the very last day of shooting, but realistically I find it really really hard. To come to this it means that Rudy was probably well damn set on his decision.

Once again I believe that the truth stands in the middle, some of the speculations (even regarding the writers) are true and others very much blown up by fans and media…we don’t even know for certain if the writers want that, we need to take everything we read with a pinch of salt.

So long story short: I hope so and I’ll keep advocating for it (even for my own sanity) but I think it’s really really difficult.

One thing’s for sure…without JJ I’m not watching S5 and I mean it. I physically can’t.

Is Chloe Bourgeois a senti-being? Season 6 theory explained

Introduction

As season 6 is only a couple of months away from being released, it’s time to discuss some interesting and bizarre theories surrounding different characters among the main cast. Today we will be discussing the controversial character of Chloe Bourgeois who is making a comeback in Season 6. This post will analyse the theory that claims that she is a senti-being which has gained traction among MLB tiktok, Twitter and Reddit after the release of Season 5. I am neither supporting nor denying this claim but providing evidence,ideas and theories I found on social media that props up both sides of the argument. I will be analysing evidence that supports the idea of her being a senti and of her not being one.

Evidence supporting this claim

Revolution

On the plane ride in Revolution, after Chloe has been exiled from Paris and sent to live with her abusive mother, Audrey says 

“ I will take control of your life again starting with your education”.

What did she mean by “again”? Did she use to control Chloe when she was younger with an amok and it was only when Audrey left for NYC that she finally experienced freedom? Control has always been associated with senti-beings with Gabriel and Colt both controlling their sons using rings. When Audrey is saying this line, there is a specific emphasis on the ring on her finger.

We know rings in this show are synonymous with senti-beings and amoks based on how the three confirmed senti's in the show (Adrien, Felix and Kagami) all have their amoks embedded in their rings. So are the writers implying that Chloe could be Senti based on this?

The Tsurugi, Agreste and Bourgeois families - possible alliance?

From the first 4 seasons of the show, it was speculated among the fanbase that the phenomena of senti-beings and creating a child using “magic” was only limited to the Agreste/Graham de vanily family with most of the fandom believing only Adrien and Felix to be senti’s. However, Season 5 revealed that there is another senti-monster in the cast which is Kagami Tsurugi meaning more families knew about the peacock miraculous and used it to create their senti’s. This changed how the concept of senti's were seen by the fanbase now with the possibility of theorising that characters outside of the Agreste/graham de vanily families are possible senti-beings. One reason why fans believe Chloe could be one is because of The Bourgeois family’s close ties to Gabriel Agreste.

Audrey and Andre both knew Gabriel in their youth so it isn’t a stretch to assume that he told them about the peacock Miraculous and allowed them to use it for certain reasons. The Tsurugi family is also another family close to the Agrestes and it is confirmed that Kagami is a senti meaning Gabriel gave the miraculous to Tome to use. If Kagami is a senti, then Chloe could be one too as both of their families are associated with Gabriel and are part of the elite.

We see Audrey, alongside Tomoe (who we know has an alliance with Gabriel) watching the news about the rediscovery of the Guardian's temple. Why would the writers focus on Audrey unless she knows about the Miraculous because of Gabriel and Emelie? If Chloe is a senti-being, why would the writers want to make all the rich kids of Paris senti’s? Do they want to imply that all the wealthy families in Paris are part of some secret cult and that all the rich kids we saw in the diamond dance in Emotion are all senti-beings?

Evidence debunking this claim

Andre Bourgeois

If Chloe is a senti , (and I know this will sound horrible)  why didn’t Andre just use the amok to discipline Chloe and keep her in line since he had so much difficulty in keeping her well behaved and well mannered ? We know he wasn’t a good person and didn’t care much for Chloe especially at the end of S5 where he disowned Chloe , sent her off to live with Audrey who he’s know will abuse Chloe , replaced Chloe with Zoe (another man’s daughter) and let her be scapegoat for the fiasco in Revolution when he know Tomoe and Gabriel were pulling the strings. If he is capable of being this lazy with his daughter when it comes to raising her, why didn’t he bother using the amok to keep Chloe in check if she is a senti ? Does he not know where the amok is or does Audrey have the amok? Either he drew the line at controlling people against their will or Chloe is not a senti .

The writers

It’s obvious that the writers are not even trying to hide their hatred towards Chloe especially after watching S5. They have no desire to redeem her or at least write her to be a decent villain. If Chloe is revealed to be a senti then that would mean she would have limited control over her actions in S4-S5 if someone like Audrey had her amok in S4-S5. That would imply Chloe isn’t to blame for some of her behaviour and that she is sympathetic which is the last thing the writers want her to be portrayed as. We know Felix who initially started off as a villain later became a little bit sympathetic as it was revealed he was A senti and that his father was horrible towards him by abusing and controlling him. Why would the writers make Chloe a senti in order to make her look sympathetic and redeemable when they made it clear Chloe would never change ? Therefore there is a possibility that she couldn’t be a senti.

If Chloe is a senti, why and how was she created and where could her amok be?

If this theory is true, One reason I could see Chloe being created was that one of her parents was likely infertile. The infertile parent would be Andre as we know Audrey is fertile because of her accidental pregnancy with Zoe. However, it is a coincidence that all the wealthy parents were infertile and would look like bad writing. Another reason why the Bourgeois could’ve used the peacock miraculously was because it was easier than getting pregnant. Audrey maybe didn’t want to get pregnant as it would ruin her physical image and Audrey is the type of person who prioritises herself and cares a lot about looks.

She thought creating a child using magic was much better than ruining her own body with pregnancy. However, this idea is debunked with the character of Zoe. We know Zoe is younger than Chloe so she was born after Audrey used the miraculous. Why would Audrey use the miraculous to create a child to preserve her body if she ended up ruining her body anyway when she biologically had Zoe? Why not abort? Did Mr Lee threaten her? Either both Zoe and Chloe are senti-beings or none of them are. 

Unlike the other senti-kids who has either One parent dead or absent, Chloe still has both of her parents alive. We know Colt used the miraculous to create Felix while Emelie used the miraculous to create Adrien. Because of using the broken peacock miraculous, both Colt and Emelie eventually got sick and died. However, Andre and Audrey are alive and healthy so if Chloe is a senti, somebody else must’ve used the miraculous instead. Either Audrey paid somebody to use the miraculous to prevent herself from getting sick or one of Chloe's grandparents used it and their death could’ve been passed off as old age.

Another theory suggests that Audrey did use the miraculous to make Chloe however instead of losing her life, she got lucky and the miraculous only corrupted her psychologically making her lose her empathy and morals instead of her life. This theory is related to the Tsurugi family, where the fans speculated that Tomoe was the one who created Kagami instead of her absent father however instead of losing her life, she got fortunate and only lost her eyesight. The idea of Tomoe surviving despite using the miraculous caused fans to speculate Audrey also used the miraculous and survived as well.

If Chloe is a senti, where could her amok be? It isn’t in her teddy bear as that was broken in Despair bear yet Chloe did not disappear. It is either in Audrey’s ring or her sunglasses as Chloe doesn’t go anywhere without her sunglasses.

Conclusion

To conclude , both sides of the “Is Chloe a senti ? “ debates have compelling arguments backed up by lot’s of evidence. However , I  haven’t officially picked a side yet and have just analysed and presented suitable evidence for and against this theory. It would be interesting if Chloe is a senti as honestly, Chloe being revealed as such might be the only thing that would save her character and redemption arc. However , the writers could also decide she isn’t a senti but a regular human . Now I want to hear your opinion. Do you like theory or hate it ? I’ve had relatives who have had cancer, and they did not have the sheer stamina, physicality and great physique that Terry did. Making him ill was such rubbish. The way he went out with his total loathing of Kreese and the yacht exploding was such laughable nonsense.

At least he remained obsessed and infatuated with Daniel LaRusso until the end. As he should be. Now that was canon for me.

Yeah, buckle up, kids. I am going to tell you why Terry Silver having cancer is utter, complete bullshit. My credentials? I am in cancer remission.

First things first, Terry is not on active chemo, and hasn't been for at least six months, and that is if he had fast growing hair. It can take a bit of time for hair to come back and it does in stages. Usually Terry's length will get you at least a full year without any chemo. He has eyebrows and lashes too they take a fuckload of time to return. No sign of steroids in his facial shape either. (You take the steroids on chemo to subdue your immune system which will otherwise make you so nauseous you'd shoot yourself. They change your face).

It also takes you at least a year to get back to any former levels of fitness, probably longer. Even elite martial artists. Also, Terry was not even doing any martial arts in Malibu. To get that good, that quickly, with no practice and after chemotherapy? No way. No way in Hell.

OK maybe he never went on chemo. There are people who go the immunotherapy route. That is often only offered past chemo, as neoadjuvant immunotherapy is, rn, in clinical trial stage. He wouldn't qualify but then, he's a billionaire and bribes people. But then what is with the wine cellar, hm? Alcohol is a carcinogen. It does not make sense to want to supercharge your immune system while still drinking recreationally. And maybe he wasn't in Malibu but he was right back on the beers with Kreese!

He's not on anything and he's lost the will to live. Then babe, your prognosis isn't very long. We're talking months. You wouldn't have any time to take over the Valley with Cobra Kai. Also, why not die on the battlefield with Chozen?

Because you're either trying to live and execute grand plans, but then you really can't drink, or you do not give a flying fuck anymore but then you simply wouldn't have the time to execute any grand vision. Doing what he does - foregoing chemo, possibly being on immunotherapy, and making long term plans while actively suppressing his immune system, the only thing between him and very rapid death? While having known of his illness since before we meet him in S4? (Heavily implied). Bonkers. Nonsense. You can't have it both ways!

Ah, but maybe he was only diagnosed with stage IV at, say, the end of S5. He thought he was in remission before.

Well that is convenient, is it not? But then again with the smoking and the heavy drinking. That is going to rapidly decline your health and shorten your time on earth.
