Halloween 2024: Five Years of Pumpkins Part TWO
Five Years. It’s coming up on the five year anniversary since I said goodbye to my children. It’s hard to believe. It doesn’t seem right, and I’ve had to count the years out on my fingers several times. 2020. 2021. 2022. 2023… 2024. I have reflected on years past in previous posts, so if you are just tuning in, the links above will get you all caught up. This article will be long enough,…

Just saw a person on tiktok Sobbing bc she asked chatgpt (which she nicknamed with a human name) if the us government was loading immigrants onto cargo planes and then opening the bottoms mid flight to drop them into the ocean. And like, I’m not saying the us government doesn’t do fucked up shit. Not even saying that’s Totally outside the realm of something they’d do! But “chatgpt said it’s happening” cannot be the level of proof that sends us into an absolute sobbing hysterical tailspin. I feel like that’s Not Good for you to do that?
There are thousands of comments acting like that is a Normal way to get groundbreaking news and I’m???
#a lot of their evidence is ‘chatgpt said psychics are feeling it too’#and ‘there have been non-deportation flights that disappear from radar over the ocean!’#and like… yeah… they do that#that’s how military stealth operations work#not saying they’re out there being Good for humanity#but ‘military flight disappears from radar’ isn’t a headline#that’s just… standard practice I fear?#idk bc the comments are treating them like a revolutionary whistleblower#so maybe I’m Way off base#but this seems like speedrunning an attempt to give yourself spiritual psychosis#also#fuck chatgpt#fuck ai

Experiencing a CTM (close to male) intersex variation doesn't mean having Wolffian duct, and intersex Wolffians can be CTF.
Intersex people can be neither CTM or CTF while still experiencing Müllerian and/or Wolffian ducts.
People can experience neither Mullerian or Wolffian traits too.

My 2025 Shifting Resolutions
Study pranayama and other yogic practices
Study meditation in general
Fix my sleep schedule - with improved sleep hygiene and regular exercise - in order to give myself consistent sleep phases for wb2b
Dress more like my wizarding world dr self
Actively attempt to shift at least 5/7 days of the week (instead of muttering i intend to shift before rolling over and sleeping)
Keep a shifting/meditation/dream diary
Shift
#reality shifting#shiftblr#shifting community#shifting motivation#shifting to desired reality#shifting blog#adult shifters#I think sticking with a more practical and evidence-based approach is the better way to go for me#I find it difficult to put blind faith in things so I think the intention method will never work for me as I will never truly believe#until I'm there or until I feel myself get close#and practicing inducing meditative states is something that not only do I undoubtedly believe in#but in doing so the improvement physically documents it's own evidence if that makes sense?#whereas with less practical approaches like loa I will not be given evidence until the final second and as a scientist i do not like that#also i have no plans to permashift so i really need to start getting my life together here teehee and meditation is a start <3#please don't take this as me slagging off loa btw if it works for others it works just not for me

Quick comic

Self indulgent birthday present to remind me that I am still capable of making comics. The holidays today are World Chocolate Day, Macaroni Day and Father Daughter Take a Walk Day.
It is also Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's death day (someday I hope to write a mystery... or multiple. I have huge respect for mystery authors.)

Some art and things that have helped me regain confidence in my art skills (and style). I have had art block for way too long, but I'm finally getting over it.

I can do character design! These two might appear in a comic, assuming today wasn't a fluke. I just have a lot of trouble with panels... and backgrounds.
Anyways, happy birthday to me, and the holidays today rule! I love finding reasons to celebrate!

[smoothly, with confidence] actually, cutting edge trauma-informed care is when you play a series of beeps and make children and staff run really really fast
#work woes#you are permitted to run really fast if you stack cans very very tall first. it's just evidence-based practices#i actually think i am listening to a different usage of the acronym than i thought#since they're talking abt ABD stuff and i dont know that it's fair to make old people run fast

Why Every Nurse Should Aim to Get Published
Have you ever considered getting your work published? I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, “Between my shifts, charting, and trying to catch some sleep, when would I even have the time?” But hear me out. Getting published isn’t just for academics or full-time writers. Nurses have unique insights, experiences, and knowledge that can truly benefit the wider healthcare community and beyond.…

breeder contract says i have to neuter dewey at 6 months of age or “at the discretion of the veterinarian” but the veterinarian i saw yesterday was like “neuter him asap or he’ll get aggressive and get cancer” and i know neither of those are true so 💀 i need to find a new vet
#text#ideally i don’t neuter him until 18 months!#at the earliest#i Cannot believe some vets really are so far removed from evidence based practice

Back to School is Upon Us
School starts in a few weeks, and instagram has been reminding me of some things that I feel the need to share, in no particular order:
1. How you decorate and design your classroom can affect how well (or poorly) students can focus. Neon rainbow everything with every square inch of wall covered in 14,000 “cute” but illegible fonts will likely be overstimulating for your students and will definitely be more of a distraction than a help.
2. Rewards, points systems, prizes, and other extrinsic motivators are bandaid methods of managing behavior. They are not classroom management. They will not last. They will undermine your students’ motivation to do the right thing because it’s the right thing. And when one system stops working, it becomes an endless cycle of trying to find the next shiny thing that will keep some semblance of order and productivity in the room.
3. BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT IS NOT CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT. Behavior management is not classroom management. Behavior management is. not. classroom. management.
But classroom management IS behavior management.
Classroom management means having a plan for ordering the classroom and how students will accomplish various procedures throughout the day. Classroom management means knowing how you want things done: how do you want students to enter the room in the morning? Where do they put their things? Where do they sit? What will they do when they get there? How will they get materials? How will they turn in work? What are the expectations for behavior in the room? What happens when expectations are not met?
The more structured and clear your expectations and procedures are, the more consistently you teach and practice and follow through on them, the easier they are for students to accomplish. Students NEED structure. Anything you want students to do must be explicitly taught.
Points and rewards and punishments undermine student ownership and motivation. Rewards are fun every once in a while, but let’s be honest, do you really want to have to manage all of that every day?
The best classroom and behavior management is to a) know what you want students to do and how you want them to do it; b) explicitly TEACH them what and how, and then practice until it’s automatic; and c) be consistent.
Consistent, clear expectations and follow-through will trump every other behavior management involving prizes and bribes and punishments.
4. Just because something is on Instagram, Pinterest, or TikTok, just because something looks cute or fun, doesn’t mean it’s effective, good for kids, or best practice. There are evidence-based practices that are both effective AND engaging. Be judicious.
