“Shh shh. You promised you’d be quiet.” The man embraced his lover, holding her flush against his chest. Her hands ran up and down the thinning fabric of his shirt as her lips begged for contact with his anything really. His hand guided her cheek up to him and her lips finally scraped along his jawline. “I’ve missed you.” She buried her head into his shoulder. “I know.” He let out a deep sigh from his chest. “I need you.” She said, practically inhaling his skin with her words “How?” “I don’t care. I just need to get the touch of Immortan off me.” Her leg wrapped around his hips. His lips travel down from just below the crest of her nose across her neck. His hands slowly worked under the pure white linen, cupping her breasts in his palms. She looked over his shoulder into the distance, towards the wasteland that awaited her if her husband knew what she was doing with the man assigned to help her birth her husband’s children. She hesitated for a moment before looking back at her lover and saying, “What I really want… I know I cannot have. So I dare not dream.” His eyes returned to hers, “And in your wildest dreams?” “I would give you as many full lifes as you wanted…” Her teeth bit down on the top of her lip as she allowed herself the fantasy. “Maybe have a home somewhere…” She wrapped her other leg around his gut and rested her arms around his neck. He held her tightly, his mouth moved in a silent ‘I love you’, but the words didn’t come out. They couldn’t come out. She pressed her forehead up against his and smiled, a silent way to return the words that lingered in the back of his throat. He carefully let go of her, making sure she was over her bed before letting her flop from his arms like a rag doll.

She looked up at him, fanning her hair across the pillow underneath her. He leaned over her and kissed her cheek before taking his hand pressing his fore and middle finger up against her lip, giving it a tap so as to ask for permission before he stuck them in. She parted her lips slightly and let him sink the thick digits into her mouth. He’d been of course careful to clean himself up as much as possible, but that didn’t remove the years of grime that sunk into his very body. The grime that was covering the inside of her mouth. Once he knew he would be able to comfortable shove himself inside of her, he pulled his fingers from her mouth. At the loss of contact, she let out a small huff. “It’ll only be a moment.” He told her before practically ripping the metal padlock off her belt, and setting the metal contraption onto the ground beside her. He leaned over her as he shoved his fingers into her. She bit down ever so slightly on her lip to hold back her moan, before his lips worked to help suppress the noise as well. He scooped her face into his free hand as he slowly began working the digits into a slow rhythm. “Come closer. You’re so far.” She bit down on the inside of his lip. He pulled his hand from her face for a second as he readjusted himself, lying beside her. “There you are.” Her hands connected once more with his face, running her thumb over the smooth but weathered skin of her love. He tilted his head slightly, allowing the edge of his mouth to linger against the palm of her hand before finally giving her a kiss. Light from the moon overhead flooded the vault, washing her in a second wave of white over her garments and a candle behind him illuminated the subtle crooks in her face. Something about them now was reminiscent of a wedding night in the old world. “I love you.” He said, no louder than a whisper. Her mouth pushed against his, making out the words ‘I love you too’ without help from her vocal chords. His fingers started slowly moving inside of her again as one of her hands moved down his neck and rested against his chest. He purposefully kept his breathing slow so as to match her. He snaked a hand under her arm and used it to bring her into him fully. Her face lay flat against the divot in his neck as his slow pace turned to an ever quickening fast pump. Her fingertips gripped onto the fabric covering his collarbones as he worked his fingers in deeper. The pads of his fingertips applied pressure to the walls of her vagina. Her grasp tightened around his shirt as she leaned up and whispered into his ear. “I want to be selfish… I want you inside of me.” “I don’t have anything to stop you…” His caught in the back of his throat “I want to carry your child.” Her hands wrapped around his forearms. He kissed her as an acknowledgment of her desires. He pulled himself back for a moment and slipped his pants off before filling in the space between her legs with his body. He carefully wrapped a hand underneath her leg and his other behind the back of her knee. He slowly shoved his dick into her giving himself a second to bottom out. Slowly he begins thrusting deeper into her, pulling her body closer to him as he closed the distance between the two bodies. She arched her back ever so slightly as his thrusts grew less predictable and faster. Neither of them had experienced what making love could feel like until this moment. Beads of sweat collected around the base of her neck, he leaned in to lick the moisture off from her. She hooked her arms around the back of his neck and did her best to wrap her legs around the base of his back.

It was messy, awkward even as he came inside of her. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head as he filled her completely. He stayed inside her, knowing it would increase the chances of her becoming pregnant. As they unconnected, his hands slid underneath her breasts. He slowly massaged the mounds of fat, wondering how big they’d grow for his child. Immortan would spoil her as he did his other wives when they carried an heir, and he’d be none the wiser that it wasn’t his. He lied by her side once he was done with her chest, before she reached for her belt. She slipped it on and handed him the lock for him to secure it before their dalliance was over. “Like I was never here.” He tugged on the lock to assure her that it was re-assembled properly “I…” She started to say, knowing the words would be her death if she finished her statement. He pressed a finger to her lips, knowing what it was that she was going to say. “Don’t risk it. We’ve already done far more than we should’ve.” He smirked, satisfied that she was his and the proof would be on her for the next nine months. His thumb traced over the lines in her lips as he contemplated one last kiss before leaving the vault. She gently pushed him away, so as to say he’s already pressed his luck much too far. He stepped away from her bed, but not before taking in one more glance of her unchanged body. --- “Beautiful.” He whispered, running a hand over her baby bump. He turned his head back towards his boss. “The best breeder I’ve seen yet.” “Good.” The man behind him grunted before stepping away to attend to business elsewhere in the Citadel. His sons followed behind him without waiting to make sure the wannabe doctor was following behind them. “Can you tell if it’ll be a boy?” She asked him, begging for more time. “You know I can’t just tell.” “Please…” She gritted her teeth as she said the next couple of words, “I want to please the Immortan.” “I know you do.” His hand ran back over her stomach, “I know. It’s such a prominent swell for just one child.” The other wives milled about the space, not paying much attention to the man, but one eye was always on their sister. They knew early that it had not been Immortan Joe who had touched her, but the man responsible for birthing their children that had impregnated one of them. Even at the risk of being seen by one of the other wives he pressed his lips onto her stomach. “You shouldn’t have much longer.” “Thank you.” She smiled at him. ‘Thank you for more than I could ever say’ is what she meant. He nodded and stood up, ready to leave the vault when she cried out. He turned back around and sat at her side, knowing it was time for her to deliver. After hours of sitting by her side, and one of the wives running to get Immortan Joe so he could be there for his child. He delivered the baby, their son and carefully handed him to the Immortan. A perfect child. “There��s another.” He said, preparing for the second child. Another boy. Perfect as well. Immortan Joe would be pleased beyond words to know that he had two heirs that were better in every way to Rictus or Scrotus. Organic Mechanic cleaned the children off and handed them over to the oafs that were Immortan Joe’s sons, correcting them when they didn’t support the newborn’s head properly. “I just need to make sure her condition’s stabilized.” He told Immortan. Immortan waved his hand, allowing him permission to do what it was he needed to do to take care of his wife. He stepped out of the vault, proud that after all this time he was capable of giving life to full lifes. Every touch from the mechanic was gentle on her as he was once again in his own world with her. She brought a hand up to his cheek and smiled. He kissed the inside of her hand before saying, “They’re beautiful.” “I love you.” She said, louder than she intended. Immortan was gone, it was just them and the other wives. “I love you too.” He whispered back. “I love you so much.”

OVERVIEW: "Responsible for the color on this prequel to 2015’s "Mad Max: Fury Road" was Eric Whipp of Alter Ego. He worked on the film across three locations, Alter Ego in L.A. and Toronto and Spectrum Films in Sydney, the latter of which handled the workflow supervision, conform, home entertainment mastering and delivery.

Graphic Novel Look: Since the film is a prequel, Whipp began by rewatching "Fury Road" to remind himself where they ended up. “We knew it had to be similar, but not exactly the same,” he says. “In "Furiosa," we visit locations that are only talked about in "Fury Road," like Gastown and the Bullet Farm.

For Gastown, for example, Whipp developed two looks – the first being a typical industrial site, and the second, which comes years later after Dementus has run it into the ground, was much darker and dirtier. “We also graded some shots to resemble a Renaissance painting, and, overall, the film is leaning toward a graphic novel look,” adds Whipp. “We didn’t use any specific references, but it was definitely inspired by paintings and graphic novels.”

VFX–Heavy: “As a lot of the backgrounds in this film are full-CG, we would start with a basic lighting pass and comp of a shot from VFX, then jump into the color suite and play with the look,” explains Whipp. “Often we would try different skies and looks and sculpt the lighting to get it right for the scene.”

When Whipp had a look that Miller liked, he would send that reference back to the VFX teams to match the lighting and look. Then the shots would come back with the amended sky and lighting. “We had a great collaboration with VFX on this film,” adds Whipp. “It’s imperative that we work together closely and support each other on huge projects like this.”

I liked the part with the bommy-knocker.

An interesting delve into the worldbuilding and characters of the Mad Max world. I wasn't sure about Anya Taylor-Joy's casting, but she proved to be a badass Furiosa by the finale, especially once she completed her visual transformation and began shouting ferociously.

Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) was a solid enough villain, maybe not the most compelling, just kind of a barely competent jerk. It was fun to see him speaking in an Aussie accent and playing a real scumbag. I really didn't care about Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke), and it kind of felt like Furiosa's strength as a character was undermined by being so dependent on his mentorship / emulating him.

As far as the action went, I really enjoyed the long range desert chase on bikes and the first major war rig battle scene was cool as hell. The battle at Bullet Farm was a little underwhelming though, and I'd have liked to see more of the forty day wasteland war and how Furiosa's involvement led to her promotion to Imperator.

More obvious VFX work and compositing detracted from some of the action, but it was usually passable. Some of the long shots of CGI vehicles moving looked particularly janky though. The subdued, experimental score worked well enough for slow dramatic moments, but let down the action set pieces where it's near absence was noticeable.

Presenting multiple options for what might have happened to Dementus was an odd choice, but I suppose it played into the unreliable storytelling angle of the franchise. The ending being a montage recap of most of Fury Road was also very strange. It even included that one CGI shot I was just saying the other day was the single worst part of that movie.

Didn't quite manage to fill Fury Road's sizeable boots, but its a great movie regardless.

I was thinking about how so many of those with power and authority in the Wasteland are referred to not only by their title, but with an honorific 'the'. So we have The Immortan Joe, The Red/Great/Dark/etc Dementus, and further down there's The People Eater, The Bullet Farmer, The Organic Mechanic, The Octoboss, The History Man. Even some of Joe's trusted subordinates carry this honorific, as the first time we're introduced to Jack he's the Praetorian Jack.

Going back to Fury Road, the same goes for most of the women whom Joe kept locked up in his harem, with a little variation. The Splendid Angharad, Toast the Knowing, The Dag, Cheedo the Fragile.

All of which made me think about Furiosa, who's tried for years upon years to escape the world of the Wasteland and service to the warlords; finally both surrendering to and drawing upon what power and authority she's amassed during that service, in order to have a chance at getting her revenge. How she mutters 'Praetorian Furiosa'. And then when she's ignored, she screams

'I am the Praetorian Furiosa!!!'

OVERVIEW: "Miller’s horror at the injuries caused by road traffic accidents were apparently a motivating factor for the "Mad Max" series, and the basis for its action-oriented approach. "Furiosa" is intensely visual, to the point that it’s been described as adjacent to a silent film. It’s noisy enough, but even the title character has only a scattering of dialogue. The same choices also lead to criticism that the film is one long action sequence. It really isn’t — it’s probably got more variation in pace than "Fury Road" — but all-action isn’t necessarily a criticism. Bad action is boring because it doesn’t reveal the story. Miller’s action does.

That’s interesting, because filmmakers are often exhorted to show, don’t tell. The decisions behind "Furiosa" mean it has little other choice.

SHOW DON'T TELL: "It’s a tricky principle to follow. Limited resources often mean that show, don’t tell is easier said than done. The first "Mad Max" was made with a credited crew of 30. On "Furiosa," production designer Colin Gibson had 72 people in his department alone, not including costume, hair and makeup. Anya Taylor-Joy has discussed the multiple levels of simulated facial grime, even beyond the character’s well-known forehead full of axle grease. Stunts credited 172, a team so huge that it included two secretaries and a runner."
