All three of them meet up in Kuina’s room later when the executive meeting is concluded. She and Kuina are chatting about her last game when Chishiya comes. Kuina tells her about Arisu’s performance and quick thinking, and about the nature of the game. Chishiya doesn’t look too bothered, just like always, but if (name) looks just a little closer, the slight tick in his jaw can be almost visible.
He sits in the chair and Kuina regards him with an expectant expression. So he doesn’t stall and doesn’t smirk, for once.
“Hatter’s visa is running out, he’s attending a game tomorrow.”
‘Oh, that can’t be good news for Hatter…’ Both (name) and Kuina nod, waiting for him to continue. So he does, “He’s also agonizing over the Ten of Hearts that’s the last card to show up now. Wants everyone to hurry up clearing more games.”
She shifts in the chair, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, “So tomorrow, more groups will be attending games, no matter of your visa status.”
(name) hums in thought, “So that’s his plan? Send more people out in hopes we stumble upon that one card?”
Kuina looks a little apprehensive, chewing on her smoking aide and Chishiya shrugs, “Who knows, maybe he’s finally lost it?”
(name) doesn’t really like the sound of that. Hatter’s already a good nutcase, him going even more off the rails doesn’t promise anything good. Just like Chishiya predicted, really.
So the next night comes, and people gather in the main hall again as if it’s tradition by now. The paper slips with group numbers get passed around and soon enough (name) finds herself being tugged to the assigned car by none other than Chishiya himself. She’s not even surprised.
“Did you rig the groups again?”
Chishiya just smirks, “Don’t flatter yourself.”
He doesn’t get the chance to throw in another witty remark, when he is proven innocent mere seconds later by Niragi. He shoves his way through the people, that same permanent sneer plastered on his face as he waves a paper slip in Chishiya’s face. A paper slip with the same number as them.
“Time to settle the score!” he crows, clearly overjoyed at getting to be in the same game as Chishiya. His gaze flicks to (name), “You too, doll!”
It takes an overwhelming amount of restraint for (name) not to sigh or roll her eyes.
“When did I get roped into your stupid feud?” she whispers to Chishiya when they head towards the cars.
He has the gall to smirk, “When you got involved with me.”
The game venue is… a large hospital. Frankly, (name) thinks it’s a rather odd choice, but most of the things she’s seen in this world so far are odd. Chishiya’s jaw is set when she glances over at him.
Their little Beach group enters the premises, with Niragi and his two lackeys leading. There’s already a few people mingling in the lobby, and five phones left on the small table.
(name) picks one up, going through the process of facial recognition; her companions do the same.
A couple minutes go by, then, the now painfully familiar voice sounds out through the store.
‘Registration has closed, the game will now commence.’
‘Game: Hospital.’
‘Difficulty: Eight of Hearts.’
(name) swallows. A Hearts game, huh? High difficulty too. She glances at Chishiya again. He looks the same as ever, but for some reason, doesn’t have the usual interest in his eyes like normally would about games. Instead, he looks like he’s thinking about something really hard.
The reactions of everyone else is about expected. Those who aren’t clueless, at least. There’s only a couple people who seem to be here by themselves. The rest are freaking out about game difficulty. A few more just look lost.
The intercom continues:
‘Rule: In 3 minutes, the lobby will fill up with poisonous gas. The poison will work its way through the player’s system, killing them in exactly 1 hour.”
Panicked gasps and whispers sound throughout the lobby. ‘This doesn’t sound like a damn game so far… more like instant death.’
‘Clear condition: Locate 1 of the 3 vials of antidote hidden in the arena and inject it to counter the effect of the poison. There are 15 players, and 3 vials, so choose the injections carefully.’
‘Time Limit: 1 hour.’
(name) feels uneasy despite herself. Normally, a Hearts game wouldn’t be that much of a problem. But this time it’s also down to sheer luck. Whoever finds the vials first, lives. And the hospital isn’t small. Also having a rogue Niragi with a rifle on her heels isn’t gonna help matters either. She’s about to turn to Chishiya again, see if he has some type of plan, but the intercom sounds again:
‘Game Start.’
With those words, the vents around the lobby start emanating some kind of gas and the group of people devolves into chaos. Some try to pry open the doors leading further inside, some attempt to cover their faces in an attempt to not breathe the gas in. it smells sickly sweet and a little dizzying. There’s no hiding from that.
(name)’s eyes widen when she sees Niragi grabbing his rifle, probably readying to take everyone out while they’re in the same place and win that way.
Chishiya ducks behind a wall and (name) follows, just as Niragi sprays down a couple of people next to him. That brings even more mayhem, as one of the braver guys there immediately punches him and a wrestle fight for the rifle begins. He doesn’t get far, as Niragi still has his two buddies in his arsenal, and the hero gets shot on the spot.
The gas had stopped for a few seconds now, and suddenly, the three sets of doors leading further inside the hospital swing open. (name) doesn’t waste time, bolting through the nearest door. There’s footsteps behind her, which she can only assume are Chishiya’s, because Niragi’s loud voice is getting further away as he yells something about them being cowards.
‘Now for a game plan…’
The hospital is big. It has two connected buildings and three sets of stairs. One in the middle and two on each side. The logical place for any kind of medicine to be, would either be the pharmacy or the storage behind it. But that’s too obvious, isn’t it? Or is it because it’s too obvious, that’s exactly where it’s going to be?...
So many decisions, so many psychos running around messing up any kind of plan.
She’s never been to this particular hospital, but it is common practice for the pharmacies to be somewhere on the first floor. And it doesn’t hurt to check, as long as they don’t run into Niragi along the way.
(name)’s fairly sure they’re a good distance away from the lobby, down some corridor she’s not sure leading where. She ducks behind a wall, pivoting to look behind her, only to see… well, no one. Not Niragi, not some other player. And not Chishiya either.
‘Right. Stupid of me to think he’d still cooperate with me in a Hearts game.’
She doesn’t have time to curse Chishiya out in her head. Literally. There’s only an hour and thirteen more people looking for the damn antidotes to sit here and seethe.
So she doesn’t. The corridor branches out in two different directions here, so (name) decides it’s a good idea to check both sides. Going left first, there doesn’t seem to be anyone lurking, so she proceeds. There isn’t much of anything, just a locker room for coats. It’s empty, there’s just a bunch of hangers behind a counter. Still, she quietly goes inside to check corners and a shelf behind the counter. There’s only a box with a few numbered chips and some kind of book. Whoever used to work here was probably reading.
She proceeds to check the other hallway with similar luck. There‘s a few storage rooms, with nothing but brooms and cleaning supplies. The next few are the same, moving toward the other side of the building. More random rooms, something that looks like a break room, and some toilets. All empty of what she‘s looking for. It seems strangely silent, as if all the other players just scattered along the hospital, with no one lingering on the first floor.
(name) once again mulls over the pharmacy idea. It does sound too obvious, now that she thinks about it. So, next floor it is.
She stalks towards the closest stairs, keeping close to the walls just in case, and makes her way up. She can hear someone talking in heated whispers down the hall. But it‘s not Niragi, and it‘s not Chishiya either. She glances at her phone; twenty minutes have passed.
She slips into the first room in the hallway. It‘s a simple hospital room. Two beds, small bedside tables next to both, a door to a small bathroom. (name) checks everything, once again to no luck.
When she exits again, the voices from the hallway are gone, so she moves on to the next room. Then the next, and the next.
”This is fucking impossible...“ she mutters to herself, pulling open the drawer of the tenth bedside table with no better luck as her phone shows a half hour has passed.
Suddenly the speakers throughout the hospital crackle to life, a bit of static sounds, then someone‘s panicked voice sounds through:
”I— Everyone! I figured out the solution! If we just work together, there‘s no need for—”
The man’s shaky voice gets cut off by the distinct sound of bullets before the speakers go silent again.
So some wannabe hero figured out how to use the PA system and decided to broadcast his findings to help everyone clear the game? Or throw everyone off, who knows, really. Dumb move, loudly announcing your location when you know there’s a psycho with a gun, waiting to gun you down.
‘What the hell is he doing anyway?... Camping downstairs in hopes to take everyone out?... At least now I know where the hell he’s at…’
That‘s probably not what Niragi‘s doing. Maybe he was just in the right place at the right time to shoot that poor idiot. Either way, with his whereabouts known, (name) sets out onto the next room.
All the rooms in this hallway are empty, so she turns the corner past the middle staircase to check the other building. As soon as she does, a hand clamps down over her mouth as someone tugs her behind a wall. (name)‘s first instinct is to yank herself free from whatever creep got the great idea, but her struggle ceases just as fast as a familiar voice speaks in a low tone,
”Be quiet, would you?”
He lets her go and (name) gives him the most scathing glare she can muster, but keeps her voice down as he says.
”Why the hell did you leave?”
Chishiya just smirks at that, “I didn’t. You ran away.”

What is one way that data collection can occur?
 There are actually many more ways than I thought that data collection could be used. (Euanks, 2018) Gives multiple ways on how the government can access people's data. For example, she mentions how EBT card purchases can be tracked and viewed by third parties. Then goes on to say how the data was collected and released to public records on a Google Doc. Reading about this situation made me feel vulnerable and like an open target to anyone on the internet. It really makes you think how much of your data is out and about without your knowledge. 
Can technology be racially biased?
Yes, Nicole Brown explains in her video how a medical algorithm formed a racial bias against POC’s. The reasoning behind this was because the algorithm was using money spent on healthcare as a guideline to develop its results. However, it didn’t account for the fact that white people have easier access to healthcare than people of color. Therefore, the algorithm thought that white people needed more care and attention than a person of color. Which leads to having more data on how to treat a white person rather than a person of color. 
How do different media outlets cover the same event ? 
After taking a look at ABC News, Los Angeles Times, and Fox 11, on the “A Day Without Immigrants” protest I found that they all had a somewhat similar format about how they covered the protest. Each of them covered how schools were impacted by low attendance, how in 2016 the same protest happened when Trump first took office, and why people were protesting. However, ABC News did give another point of view on how there were negative impacts to the protest. Without customers coming in, small businesses lost out on income. Also, Fox 11 gave a small description on what ICE agents were doing and why, which I thought was very helpful. Overall, each of these news outlets had the same format about the who, what ,when, where, but gave focus to different viewpoints.
