...Brain is now just imagining some Support Dialogue in a Fire Emblem-type game where one character is ranting about this and the other goes “...Well, you’re strong enough to throw the hammer, right? Just throw it my way if you wanna drop it and go back to the daggers. And if you want it back, I can chuck it back your way.” and the girl goes “This might end with one of us accidentally taking a hammer to the face, but my god am I on board.”

And then the characters unlock a special move where they can chuck the big fuckoff hammer between themselves: sure, it takes up both of their actions for the turn, but it auto-equips the hammer as the recipient’s main weapon and it hits all enemies in between them!

I would really appreciate any thoughts on this! I haven't tried to make a looser group RPG before. I genuinely think this could be a blast at a party but I don't have a good group to try it out with right now, and it would be great to hear if there's rules that are unclear/confusing on first read, or aspects that don't seem like they would work. Or things that seem good!

There's a bit of walking before the servant gives an answer to the question. "th-there aren't any guards usually. a-and... i think i know who might be there if there is one. she's nice."

Every so often there's the barest pause in her steps as she regards a door or a wall. The backrooms of the Hurst estate are fairly expansive, to the point of there being stairwells and elevators. As the pair approach them, Mulry sometimes stares at the ceiling or floor.

"i-it's pretty quiet today... wait. someone's coming-" Concrete floors and walls bounce sound thankfully well, even around corners. Ahead and around the bend comes thusly, a complication.

Slow and heavy steps, combined with a squeaking cart's gently rattling wheels, filter in. Someone grumbles under their breath indistinctly. Mulry throws Vesna a panicked look.

Nearby are plenty of boxes and big items on wrapped pallets, even a closet or two. There's probably a minute or so before whoever it is comes over, and it wouldn't be impossible to backtrack...

Plenty of options.

so, uh, been working on a thing

for a long time I've loved sims and ai games, from Civ 5 AI things (Go look at CivBattleRoyale), to Football Manager AI runs, to CPU v CPU smash etc, and most recently blaseball

and i finally decided to make my own sim, entirely in Google sheets because I'm dumb and can't code UIs, originally adapted from my Overwatch Manager project and now it's own thing- SimGame, aka Sportsball thanks to my friends (good name pending)

My vision is a weird hybrid between CivHybridGames, Blaseball and Football manager, where people will draft teams and compete alongside overarching events and narratives with weekly inputs, when it's ready- I've got all my core systems finished now and just need to code in a load of spécial abilities and interactions

This post is just me being excited about it! If it sounds interesting, hopefully will post across all my socials when it's done so feel free to join once I start prepping or if you'd like to help, dm me i guess??; here's just some random images of the player generator, gamerunning sheet and some stats from a trial to show it's not entirely vaporware or something- I'd say it's about 70% done?

Anyway this has been my silly little fixation for a hot minute and i wanted to put it somewhere where not everyone would see it for now :)

The Pyromancer

RECRUITABLE UNIT

Has four Elemental Heads; can take a turn to change which head is worn during a round. Can wield a sword, and can throw a random Elemental Head as ranged weapon, dealing elemental damage matching the element of the Head. Thus, choosing a head can be as much choosing which element The Pyromancer currently channels as much as it is a way to ensure which element The Pyromancer does not accidentally throw at an enemy.

Agh, fuck. I dreamt there was a great old-school graphic mostly point & click game.

Didn't get a proper look at the main plot yet but it seems like the mc was in some medieval/early renaissance home chatting with parents until authorities came. You, mentor, and the girl you had a crush on were arrested, parents and dog (whom you had the option to name, and for some reason I named him Moss, game told me it failed a side quest and is going to make this dog sad in the future - should have been cuter) were waiting back home.

The cool thing was a quest system through the journal which had a choice.

To either gain different deities favour by their quests before they were sent (by the main antagonist I guess) to kill you, one by one (didn't figure this out on the first run so "god of Humour", a blobby blueskinned bald one, came after me in the first gamerun).

Second option was to kill all the deities, the first favour quest of the goddess worshipped by your mother, "goddess of Justice" - real creepy looking, with tattered black feather wings, white skin, neck crooked to the side, eyes covered with black bandage, unnatural smile and black tattered clothes.

I reset the game for a third run after failing to fill the now clearly easy first favours to complete while arrested and accidentally escaping. Instead of resetting I woke up disappointed after realizing the game didn't exist 😞

God, the art and your comment gave me Ideas for a game idea I’ve been sketching out for a Fire Emblem-style JRPG.

Itachi(-expy) is stumbled into on some campaign and proves himself to be an utter monster of a unit, and listlessly joins your party after Things. Campaign ends, you expect to be able to start coasting with this beast of a unit...

And when you get back to the hub your party is based from, the unit goes ‘hey, you need a cook? Sweet, I’m now your cook’ and refuses to fight ever again and starts serving as an NPC who cooks for your party, and stays there through the end of the game.

Any characters who interact with them and ask why they stopped fighting/try to prod them into taking up fighting again just get stared at until they leave the cook alone, and proceed to get shitty food for the next week or so. New party-members who’re nice are warned; new ones who have room to be taken down a few notches are not warned.

(And maybe something about if there’s an attack on the hub the cook proceeds to decimate the attackers nearly/entirely alone as part of a cut-scene. But otherwise, you recruit this utter beast of a unit on some mission and then they proceed to turn into a cook NPC for the rest of the game, making stat-buff food items for your units.)
