went digging for more spam blogs, and discovered a few things: one, most of these guys can be found under the tag iptv, making it even easier to pick out and block them. two, these bots are smart enough to make communities based around their spam. and there’s a lot of these.

managed to update the list some more searching those (some of these are empty and/or unrelated to iptv but were found in the communities i checked):

found a chain of reblogs on one of my posts that's setting off alarm bells in my head; thought you might wanna know about them.

the original reblog was from @/wiliserie; the post i made was about one of the new jumanji movies, and their reblog contained an alleged link to the full movie. already suspicious enough, but i checked their blog; all of it's them reblogging advertisements for various streaming venues (which might also need investigating) and promoting their own. they haven't updated since 2023, though.

the person who reblogged their reblog, @/abderrahimasnaina-blog, also has a blog that's nothing but reblogs of these advertisements. they've been updating a lot more frequently, though.

needless to say i'm blocking/reporting both blogs, but i'd need to dig deeper to see how many others need to be reported. i'd say tag this under iptv, since that seems to be the one service they're all advertising the most.
