This one was so much fun! I had to sift through a lot 😅 Tagging: @elavoria @thequeenofthewinter @gilgamish @kookaburra1701 @wispstalk @skyrim-forever @theoneandonlysemla @sylvienerevarine @lucien-lachance @bostoniangirl21
Going with Nim for this one and tried to pick quotes that were somewhat chronological:
1. "I bet you don't have any friends either. You're as pleasant as guar dung, and you look like a netch fart with a face."
2. "Were we supposed to kill him?" she asked, shaking her dagger free of the straggling bits of bunt flesh. "Sorry, I probably should have clarified earlier."
3. "Who are you becoming?" she asked it, tapping the face of the emerald as though it might respond. "Is that you in there? What are you doing?"
4. “Well only if there's more to it then. Please continue, Mr. Lachance. You have my undivided attention.”
5.. “Oh, little moss," she said to it. "Why couldn't I have been born such a little moss too?"
6. "Ah— oh." Nim looked back to the bottle like it was a long, lost lover returned from the dead. “Well then… a sip, maybe.”
7. "But it's our guild. It's our fight."
8. “We’ll fix this,” she said, reaching for Lorise's hands, holding them tighter than she'd held onto anything in her life. “I promise.”
9. “It’s quite alright, Master Wizard,” she mumbled hoarsely. “I really should go anyway. I need to, um, brew some potions.
10. “It makes me happy, Mathieu. Why is that such a terrible thing?”
11. “Because I’ve sold him a lie. A pretty one. One that masks all the ugliness inside me.”
12. Her face split into an ugly grin then, cracked like an open coffin. "Yes!" she cried out. "Yes, I'm fucking around! As soon as you turn your back, with everybody, on every corner!"
13. “Gods, Arquen. I’m just a woman. I’m not a war.”
14. “You watched gleefully as I tore my life apart. When you put your hands on me, I turned myself inside out. You touched pieces of me not even I’d seen before, and now what, Lucien? Now you’re scared of what lies beneath?”
15. "It’s me or something pretending to be me or I’m pretending to be it. I can’t tell, but I can feel it. Can you feel it? Have you ever? Have you ever looked at yourself and thought, ‘what will it take to get rid of you? Why do you keep doing this? What a truly remarkable feat that you’ve managed to fuck up your life this badly?’”

It happened all of a sudden.
Where millions of GAR troops were at different points of the galaxy, they were suddenly in a grey void like space.
Their faces pitch black except for scars or differences in appearance. Eyes pure white and armor their original phase one set and color. From the oldest to the youngest still alive they all stood there. It was strangely silent despite them all talking at once.
What was even more strange was the black crack splitting the ground and separating them from what looked like the Guard.
Similar to them, they had pitch black faces, and the differences shown in white with their eyes. Despite how many GAR troops there were, everyone could see as if they were standing in front. Almost like a Holo live recording on a Helmet comm.
The GAR was horrified to see scars or missing limbs marking their brothers on the other side of the crack.
It looked like one of the shiny Guards was holding on desperately to a batcher's hand, but the batcher just began to walk towards them. Pulling until the shiny Guard was forced to let go.
The shiny's eyes filled with red tears, the same as the color marking them. They cradled their hand to their chest and the tears spilled over. One of the other guardsmen stepped out of the flood of red and white. Pulling the shiny's attention to them, they lifted their arms in silent comfort. The shiny rushed to the other and was embraced into a tight hug. Armor creaking as the older Guard smoothed their hand into the shiny's short regulation hair.
The other GAR shiny turned to look and froze, seeing how hurt the other was. They tried to reach out to the other. Suddenly, another Guardsman surged to the front and rammed a riot shield into the shiny. This trooper a shiny themselves. The GAR shiny fell to the ground and the other GAR members stepped forward.
The Riot Shiny flinched at so many other GAR soldiers approaching. And that caused a chain reaction in the rest of the Guard. More Riot Troopers rushed out in defense of their shiny member, slamming their shield on the ground. Lining up on either side of the first Riot trooper as a show of support and comradeship.
This caused the heavy artillery Guards to follow, guarding the edges of the shield formation. Suddenly the ground rumbled and high vantage points appeared, allowing the Guard Sniper units to take aim. The rare Guard Enhanced all took positions behind the Riot Troopers with their own weapons in hand. The Guards with normal blasters each took a shoulder behind a Riot Trooper and aimed their weapons.
The massiff units all pushed the medics and soft shells behind them, aiming their blasters at those they could safely aim at. Medics had their makeshift packs at the ready for any who might get injured on their side. And soft shells aimed pistols around the Massiff Units to do the same as them.
And suddenly, everything was quiet again.
The GAR didn't know how to react to their Guard brother's sudden defensive formation. Not one Guard shook or looked hesitant to fire.
It was like time froze, as the bigger side tried to figure out what to do. Until Cody stepped forward. The Marshall Commander stepped as close to the group in red as they allowed. Freezing when one of the troopers aiming over another's shoulder took aim at him. He raised his hand to signal a halt when his own men stepped forward to defend him.
From behind the line of Riot shields came the Guard's own Marshall Commander. The scars of sith lightning scattered across the left side of the oldest Guardsman's face had Cody flinching. The eye was no where to be seen either, meaning he was blind in that eye.
Fox crossed his arms in front of his chest, feet spread to parade rest length, and tilted his head. Not a word left the Guard Commander as he stood in front of the GAR Commander. No one spoke really. One side waiting for their Commander's orders, the other too in shock to speak.
The other Commanders of the GAR stepped forward. And soon after the other leaders in the Guard did the same. One Guard had blonde hair. One had a severely damaged jaw and throat. One had stitches lining their whole body old wounds healed over. One had a missing leg, the air in its place matching the void around them. One had over regulation hair. One had a scar along their head and over an absent right eye. And One with no hair, with a massive burn scar on the left side of his face.
The GAR only knew of Thorn, the one with long hair, Stone, the one with the burn, and Thire, the one with the missing right eye and scar on the same side. The other four where unknown. Until Rex stepped forward.
"Ritz?" He asked, and his voice was almost too loud in the eery quiet of the void. The blonde Guard officer, a Captain, crossed their arms in a silent show of defiance. The other six officers all stood on either side of Fox in a show of support. Not one looked ready to back down. Neither did the rest of the Guard despite their smaller size.
"Vod'ika. Why are you all doing this?" Cody finally asked the question the rest of the GAR had been thinking.
"You abandoned me and my men. So we're just doing what's necessary to defend what we have left. Who we have left. And I'm not your Vod'ika. The only Ori'vod'e I have is Chemi and Stitches. You aren't either of them." The Guard Commander snarled and the mentioned 'Ori'vod'e' both stepped forward on either side of Fox. Chemi was the one with the mangled jaw and throat, while Stitches was the one with a stitched up appearance.
The 212th and 501st CMOs rushed forward suddenly.
"JACOB!" "STITCHES!"
Helix shouted a different name than Kix, yet it was a name the 212th recognized almost immediately. Jacob had been the second in command of the 212th medical bay near the start of the war. But once General Skywalker was made a General, he was sent back to Kamino and was never seen again.
Stitches had been the new and first CMO of the 501st's name. And the man had been sent in once again to Kamino, he was also never again seen.
Only this time he wasn't reconditioned.
Said CMO of the Guard didn't even flinch when his name was shouted, though he was secretly confused by the first name. Both blue and gold CMOs froze when the Captain, Ritz, shot forward and shielded the red CMO. A snarl of a protective riduur marking his scratched up face.
The void rumbled again and Stitches had someone peeking out from behind him. This clone was inverted to the medic. Black eyes and stitches with a white appearance. A malicious smile was marking this clones face, but it wasn't towards the Guard. No it was towards the GAR. The Guard knew who this clone was. Freakshow. The Guard CMO's darker personality.
Helix hissed at the inverted clone and the other just giggled darkly.
"You bastard! I thought you finally left him alone!" Helix roared and the inverted clone's smile faded away.
"Because I was too Independent at the time, here I remain. I'm the one who's kept him alive ever since. With some help of course." Freakshow said as he patted Ritz on the shoulder from behind Stitches. The medic didn't seem bothered by the other presence.
With Freakshow's arrival, it heralded the coming of other similar inverted clones over many other Guard clone's shoulders. And even some GAR clone shoulders as well.
One of the Kamino bound clones looked heartbroken as he stood in front. "So he got reconditioned for nothing? He had hoped it would ease his suffering." All eyes framed by gold and red looked at the man and he flinched. Helix and Freakshow both looked at him and the clone stepped forward. "Joyce, Sirs. I....I was the one who saw him go to recon. He asked me not to say anything, just in case it didn't work. He didn't want me getting hurt."
The clone, Joyce, wrapped his arms around himself in self comfort as the anger in Helix's gaze ignited towards him. Freakshow just smiled soothingly. "It worked a little. It allowed me to explain my presence and give him time to really understand how I got there. It did heal him, even if my darling other half doesn't remember." The inverted clone giggled as he laid himself across the medic's shoulders. The other clone just grumbled in annoyance. Joyce smiled sorrowfully, nodding in acceptance.
Only to be punched in the face and fall to the ground. Everyone looked at Helix as he panted. Joyce cupped his jaw and tears filled his eyes. Pale teal tears that spilled over at the rage aimed at him. "You could have saved him! Now Jacob is dead because of you! I'll never have my Vod'ika back thanks to your silence!" Helix roared and Joyce flinched with a whimper. Freakshow growled.
"It wasn't your fucking choice to make. It was Jacob's. Nothing else was working to save his psyche from shattering and causing him to go AWOL. So don't blame him for something he had no control over." Freakshow hissed as he crossed the crack and helped the Kamino Bound clone to stand. The inverted clone grabbed his wrist and dragged Joyce over the crack to the Guard side. Joyce's armor changed colors to red. Much like Freakshow's had changed to gold and blue when he stepped over to the GAR side.
Fox jerked his head towards the riot barrier and Joyce melted into the Guard ranks. Disappearing from sight. No one really argued the Guard literally stealing one of their men. If it made the Guard feel like the man was safer than so be it. "Helix." Cody mumbled and Helix sighed with golden tears in his eyes. Captain Ritz moved to stand in his original place next to the one unnamed Guard officer, while Stitches stood with Freakshow at his back. No malicious smile to creep the GAR out.
Fox cleared his throat and attention was on him. "I'm glad this has happened. Because now I can say this with full confidence. Let it be known that the Guard will no longer treat the GAR with anything but professional politeness and business. It was agreed upon by all members of the Guard. The only expectation to that had been Bonsai. Who still had a batcher outside the Guard who still contacted her." The shiny who had been comforted at the beginning of all this flinched when their name was mentioned.
The shiny, Bonsai, shook as she became the center of attention. Said shiny stopped shaking when one of the bigger enhanced, one with patchy skin and white lined hair, stepped up behind her. Making their massive presence known. The Bad Batch, also part of the GAR despite their commando and black ops status, all looked shocked to see another of Wrecker's enhancement still alive.
"To answer any questions on the enhanced, the one behind Bonsai is Caboose. One of three of the Heavy classed enhanced among the Guard. The other two are Chalk and Titan." Fox said in monotone. The named enhanced nodded once to signal name and face. "They have a similar grouping system to the GAR's Bad Batch, though they don't strictly form up in their original unit unless necessary. Chalk frequents the medical bay, while Titan acts as the heavy artillery for the crew of the Victorian. Caboose acts as a free agent among the Guard, pulling those being reconditioned or decommissioned into our ranks to keep them safe."
Fox explained and Caboose grinned. Cody mumbled to himself in awe while the other GAR Commanders just stared. The Riot Troopers and those behind them had still not eased up. Neither had the other Guardsmen despite the calm atmosphere. "What can we do to regain your trust?" A clone in Wolfpack grey asked and Chemi was the one to answer. Though his voice was hoarse thanks to the damage in that area.
"That is a question best answered by the individual you want to regain the trust of. I'd say we all have different answers to that. Me personally? There really isn't anyway but through time and effort on both sides." The clone said, he sounded almost like he was mimicking someone. Another guard near the back with the Massiff members snorted sarcastically. "Don't get too hopeful though. Not sure I wanna give my trust back after it was shattered the first time." Some members of the Guard nodded in agreement.
It grew quiet after that. Both sides at a stand still. A member of the 49th stepped forward. "Who hurt you? It was supposed to be safe! None of you should have those kinds of injuries!" He shouted and many other GAR members murmured in agreement. The nameless Captain answered. "The Senate. Coruscant. Only ones who really left us alone was the Jetii. Well except for that Vos guy. He visited with food from time to time after we pulled him from the sewers or a dumpster." The answer seemed to echo in the once again silent space. The Guard seemed to act like it was normal. Like having these injuries was a daily thing to them.
Thinking about it now, Cody felt like it probably was.
"And you are?" Wolffe asked. The Captain grinned ferally. "ARC Captain Gatz of the Coruscant Guard. If you got a fucking problem with it we can fight right here and now." The ARC replied, not an ounce of fear in his face or voice. Wolffe raised his hands in surrender. "Just wanted your name! No fighting necessary!" The Wolfpack Commander reassured. That seemed to deflate the ARC as he pouted with a whispered 'Damn it.' that only Ritz seemed to hear. The blonde Captain patting the other on the shoulder in sympathy. Stitches snorted and crossed his arms. "As much as this little reunion has been informative, I have patients I need to tend to. So how about we figure out how to get out of here?"
Fox nodded in agreement. The Guard Riot formation eased just a little, allowing the troops to shake themselves out of their stiffness and reset their bodies.
"We'll deal with those bastards later then." Bacara muttered and several other GAR members whispering a faint 'oya' amongst each other.
The vantage points all lowered and the sniper units melted into the crowd of Guardsmen. Leaving only the black crack as the single deviation to the grey void.
Not that anyone really paid it any mind. The Guard wasn't trusting of the GAR right yet, and they were willing to work to gain that trust back.
No matter how hard it was or how long it took.

The Indian Guar Market: A Comprehensive Overview
India has long been recognized as a dominant force in the guar and Guar Gum industry on a global scale. Guar, natively grown on the Indian subcontinent, is primarily cultivated in India and Pakistan, with additional farming taking place in the United States, and parts of Africa and Australia.
Historical Context and Modern Uses
Historically, Gomme guar was utilized predominantly as a rich protein source for cattle feed and as a green vegetable in India. However, its role evolved significantly post-World War II due to a major shortage of locust bean gum, which impacted the textile and paper industries severely. During this time, guar gum processing plant emerged as an excellent substitute for the scarce locust bean gum, leading to its increased prominence and utilization in various industries.
By 1953, the extraction technology of guar gum had been commercialized in the USA, and a decade later, it followed in India, marking a significant advancement in its production and application.
Guar Plant Characteristics
The guar plant, scientifically known as 'Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba', is an annual legume that not only serves as an important source of nutrition for humans and animals but also plays a crucial role in regenerating soil nitrogen. The endosperm of the guar seed, which is a key hydrocolloid, finds widespread usage across a broad spectrum of industries due to its gelling properties.
Thriving in drought-resistant and semi-arid regions, the guar plant is well-suited to the sandy soils of West and Northwest India and parts of Pakistan. These regions are also the major processing centers for guar gum in India.
Cultivation and Harvesting
The guar plant can grow between 2 to 9 feet tall. It begins with white flower buds that turn light pink upon opening and eventually deepen to purple. Guar Gum plants produce fleshy seed pods that are harvested in the summer after ripening.
Commonly known as cluster-bean due to its pods growing in clusters, guar powder is incredibly drought-resistant, capable of ceasing growth in dry conditions without perishing. This resilience makes it particularly valuable in semi-arid regions where few other crops can survive.
The guar crop typically grows over a period of 14 to 16 weeks, requiring warm weather, moderate rainfall, and abundant sunshine. The planting usually occurs after the monsoon, around the second half of July to early August, with harvesting taking place from late October to early November.
Extraction and Quality Standards
Post-harvest, the seeds are extracted from the pods through sun drying and mechanical beating, a process that ensures minimal damage to the guar gum seeds. However, the quality of natural gums like guar can be affected by poor handling. Today, various tools and systems are employed to extract guar gum powder in a completely hygienic manner, maintaining its quality and effectiveness.
Specifications and Standards
The quality of guar gum split is regulated through specific standards, such as those set by the United States FCC and the European Union. These standards specify maximum levels for moisture, ash, acid insoluble residue, and heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, and copper, ensuring that guar gum remains safe and effective for consumption and use in various guar gum applications.
Conclusion
As the largest manufacturer of guar gum , india continues to play a pivotal role in the global market. The adaptability of guar plants to challenging agricultural environments, combined with the significant economic and industrial benefits of guar gum, underscores its importance as a sustainable and versatile product. With ongoing advancements in cultivation and processing technologies, India's position as a leading guar gum manufacturer is set to strengthen further, supporting both local agriculture and global industries.

Honest Work, the Gold Coast quest for the Vanos siblings, implies that Dunmer have a unique style of singing that is unpalatable to others (or at least to Imperials).
Kireth says:
What I really want to do is sing. I've serenaded in taverns from Deshaan to Eastmarch. I even received a standing ovation in Orsinium! Unfortunately, Anvil has no taste.
If you follow her wishes and talk to a person from the tavern about letting her sing there, here's how the conversation goes:
I know a talented Dark Elf who'd love to sing to your customers. "Ha! The Dark Elf lass? I just about split my gut when I heard her yowling. Sounded like someone stuck a fork in a bantam guar and twisted it to the right! If that's what they call singing in Morrowind, I really need to pay them a visit." [Persuade] If her singing is that amusing, just tell the audience she's a comedian. "Interesting notion. We've had our share of bards and jesters, but never a jester who sings. At least the crowd will enjoy looking at her. Who knows? They might even like her act! Send Kireth over. I'll pay her well for an evening's entertainment."
You can return to Kireth and tell her you've got the job for her, omitting the part that she's going to be a laughingstock:
You can sing in the tavern. Pius promised to pay you well. "That's wonderful news! Those drunken pirates are in for a treat! Thank you for negotiating an excellent deal. Now what should I sing? Something from the Tribunal Soliloquies? Maybe one of the sujamma drinking songs? So many choices!" They're going to love you.
After the performance, she confirms that the audience indeed laughed at her, but she doesn't realize why:
"Oh you just missed it! My rendition of "Rememberings" from the Dark Elf musical "Guars" brought the house down! It's a sad, touching number with a few light moments, but I've never seen a crowd laugh so hard. I guess I really nailed the high notes."
And now, here's what I think. Let's put "this is a mean thing to do to your friend" aside for a second. The entire concept makes no sense! We know how Dunmer sing, we've heard, in this very game — and it's just like everybody else on Tamriel! The base game has only four singers who voice every single bard across the world! And then the Morrowind and Necrom chapters confirmed it by adding more bards who also perform in a conventional style. Either this quest is making a strange statement about cultural differences that contradicts the worldbuilding everywhere else, or Kireth's singing is just objectively bad and nobody has told her before.

Disturbing Dreams cw -- nightmare/night terrors first writings with my ocs!! worked on this for a about a week and im pretty happy about completing it and feeling confident enough to finally share it
“Hello?” The silence seemed to smother the dimly lit room. Carefully pulling the blanket off, Laesse reached down the side of the nightstand, blindly feeling for her sword. She had heard something, she was sure of it. While initially eager to dismiss the sounds and blame the rats, there was something about them that felt off. Too large, too calm to be the vermin. She stepped out into the centre of the room, scanning around herself. It was eerily still, devoid of any soul but her own. Nothing’s there, see? You’re just working yourself up. The shadows of the room flickered suddenly, sliding along the peripherals of her vision. Her weight shifted to her foot as she spun around, sword pointed towards the figure. Was that… herself? Her sword clattered on the floor, her hand instinctively covering her mouth. It looked like her, the same clothes, same ears, same height. But no, this couldn’t be her. It looked… wrong, perverse. The smile was wrong, its face twisted and deformed, the hair still a solid black, unlike the salt-and-pepper colouration of Laesse’s own hair. She took a step back, to which it stepped forwards. It pursued its lips, regarding Laesse with a tilted head. After what felt like an eternity, its lips creased into a wide smile. “Laesse!”
Laesse awoke with a gasp, launching herself at the obscure figure leaning over her, stretching her hands in a chokehold. They were faster, intercepting and snatching her wrists, pinning Laesse on her back with a firm knee to her chest. “Hey, hey!” They tightened their grasp when she tried to pull her hands back, momentarily tussling back and forth in a stalemate. Only when she had stopped trying to pull her hands away did they relax their own grip, the weight on her chest vanishing. She wasted no time in pushing herself to her knees, eyeing the stranger warily. They were holding their hands up, showing they were unarmed. Bright white hair framed their face, and though it appeared slightly ruffled, was woven into a loose plait. It was just Asha, she tried to assure herself.
She let out a shaky and half-relieved sigh, firmly planting her face in her hands. “..You alright?” Laesse let out a muffled grunt, focusing on her own heart rate. Every breath felt like it was going to unsteady her. She didn’t hear the other dunmer move, and after what felt like an eternity started to run her own hands over her face. She winced as her fingertips caught on the edge of her lip, which was already feeling furiously raw. The right corner of her lip felt warm to the touch, and when she pulled her hand up, saw a few smatterings of red on her finger tips. When did that reopen? It had finally begun to properly heal over. If she had to guess, she had been thrashing in her sleep and had reopened it. At least nothing else had opened, though the rest of her wounds itched uncomfortably as she felt them over. Unlike her lip, they had stopped scabbing awhile ago and were now vibrantly fresh scars, taking up hues of purple and red. “Hey,” A sharp clicking sound started not far on her right, catching her attention.
“You good? You woke both me and Ipa-ashabael.” Laesse let out a frown, fiddling with her blanket guiltily. Ipa-ashabael was Ash’s guar, and he was quite antsy about the whole ordeal. Flicking her gaze outside the temporary yurt’s entrance, she could see his silhouette pacing back and forth on his halter, letting out infrequent rumbles. Poor thing seemed more worked up than she was. He had been antsy in general recently though, so this wasn’t quite new to her. It was only, what? A month or so since he had almost been stolen – the ensuing scuffle with the thieves was actually to blame for Laesse’s split lip.
“Nirn to Laesse. You’re spacing out on me.” She blinked up at the taller dunmer with wide eyes. A brief moment passed before her face lit up with realisation. Dropping the blanket, she held her hands up apologetically, indicating that she was giving her full attention.
“Don’t worry, it wasn’t important. And keep the blanket, your hands are still shaking from your.. nightmare.” She eyed Laesse carefully as she finished the sentence, her head rocking as she pondered on the correct wording to use. Just call it soul sickness. That’s what everyone else called it. Laesse held her tongue, but she didn’t quite understand why her partner avoided calling it that. In town she could understand, the temple was quite… precautious about it, but they were out in the middle of the grazelands. Since leaving Holamayan, they had struck far away from any town, and apart from the odd ancestral tomb or trader, had not encountered much society. Ash had stressed that it was necessary to avoid any ordinators or guards that may recognise them, instead teaching Laesse how to kill and prepare nix-hound and wild guar so that trips into hamlets and towns stayed limited. “Don’t bother with alits and kagouti,” Ash explained as she wedged her knife under the fused forewing of the Shalk. “Alit meat is no good for human consumption, and kagouti too dangerous to take on without someone experienced.” Laesse glanced away from the shalk, instead focusing on Ash, who was too engrossed in her work to notice that Laesse wasn’t watching the process on preparing the large beetle. “What about you?” “No, not experienced enough. I only left the Urshilaku when I was 17 – didn’t stay long enough to become experienced at hunting kagouti. So we’ll stick to poor f’lahs like this guy. We can go for Guar and Nix-hound too, but shalks are slower.” She drummed her hand on the chitin shell and grabbed the lip, peeling it off with a loud and grotesque pop. Laesse grimaced, looking quite pale as Ash made the first cut into the shalk’s flesh. It had been quite lonely out on the grazelands, if Laesse had to be honest. She was grateful Ash hadn’t ditched her yet, but something nagged at her. She shouldn’t have followed. Ilunubi, Tel Fyr, Baar Dau, – she shouldn’t have to deal with Laesse’s problems. Not to mention the constant soul sickness, having to wake and placate Laesse from them almost every night whilst injured herself. Ash thought she hid it well, but Laesse wasn’t oblivious, and noticed how she carried herself on rougher terrain or how she relied a little too much on Ipaashabael as they journeyed. Laesse had first noticed shortly after they had departed Holamayan, and guessed it had happened during their jailbreak of Baar Dau. The more she thought about it, the more guilt wormed up inside of her.
“.. Sorry.” Ash looked up from the bag she had been rummaging through, handkerchief in hand. She tilted her head with a raised brow. “For waking you. And Ipa,” the guar was still fidgeting outside, though considerably less so than he was prior. Laesse didn’t look up, instead focusing on her hands as she fiddled with the blanket. “And well.. Y’know.” Ash leaned forwards and tilted Laesse’s chin up with one hand, and started to clean the reopened wound on Laesse’s lip with a light-hearted chuckle. “Chin up. It’s really not that big of a deal, I’ve handled worse.” Lasse grimaced at her words, finding no comfort in them. Ash picked up on this, faltering briefly. “I mean that, Laesse. You shouldn’t feel guilty for dreams you can’t control.” Once Ash was satisfied that the cut had stopped bleeding, she shuffled backwards, studying Laesse’s face from a distance. “Hmm. Don’t go prodding it and it shouldn’t bleed out. Go sleep, you look half-dead.” “Have you been at that the whole night?” Ash squinted, holding a hand over her eyes to filter out the sunlight that filled the yurt. Laesse mumbled something, pulling one of her bags over without looking up. She peered into the bag and reached a hand into it, pulling a bundle of scrunched documents out. It was obvious Laesse had done the exact opposite of what she had been asked to do.
“By Azurah,” Ash mumbled under her breath, looking thoroughly unimpressed as she tossed the blanket off herself and hurried over to where Laesse was sitting. The condition of the papers was quite atrocious, and looked like they had all been haphazardly shoved into the bag. They probably had, knowing how messy she could be. She snatched the papers before they could be destroyed any further, using her knee as a surface to try to smooth out the creases. Holding the papers up, she pursed her lips as she studied the damage, swapping each paper to the front every few moments. The papers weren’t quite as terrible now, though still didn’t look exactly stunning.
“What’s the point of recovering lost prophecies if you’re going to destroy them with your disorganisation?” Laesse snatched the paper’s back, fixing Ash with a glare before fiddling with the papers, refocusing on the passages once she had shuffled them back to their original positions.
From seventh sign of eleventh generation,
Neither Hound nor Guar, nor Seed nor Harrow,
But Dragon-born and far-star-marked,
Outlander Incarnate beneath Red Mountain,
Blessed Guest counters seven curses,
Star-blessed hand wields thrice-cursed blade,
To reap the harvest of the unmourned house.
“Still concerned about it?”
“May as well memorise it,” Laesse didn’t look up at the feeling of Ash’s presence over her shoulder . She had read over the documents at least a dozen times, using any free moment to gloss over the many documents she had obtained during her travels. Initially her interest in it was minimal, fulfilled only by a reluctant obligation forced upon her when she had first set foot in Vvardenfell. If you had asked her a few short months ago, she would have dismissed it as superstition, nothing more than embellishment. Yet since her brush with corprus, her disinterest had been replaced with agonising curiosity.
Quickly peeling the upper-most documents away, her brows furrowed. She pulled the paper out, discarding the others gently by her side. The paper was considerably more worn than the others, the page massacred by old water damage and red smears. Huh, this was the one Ash had shown her, back in Tel Fyr – if she remembered correctly, Ash had mentioned finding it on Laesse’s person back in Ilunibi. Ash had kindly enough read it out in Tel Fyr. Her understanding of written dunmeris was unfortunately somewhat poor, and lagged significantly behind her understanding of the language verbally. Not that she was unable to read it at all – it took a bit of effort and spelling out, however. Her eyes trailed up to the top of the letter, fixated on what was the salutation from what she could recall.
Ekem. Roht. Jeb. Oht.
“At least you aren’t reading texts in a cyrodilic format. Finally.” She whipped her head up, fixing the ashlander with a scowl. Ash seemed unbothered, leaning forwards and studying the text. “Learning dunmeris using the Cyrodilic orientation just makes it more confusing for a beginner like you. Traditional dunmeri is written in clusters like this letter,”
She drew her finger to one particularly large word.
“When your empire came along — Hush up, just let me talk.” She raised a finger to Laesse’s lip, who in turn quickly swatted it away. “Housemer strayed from this writing style for a lot of their important documents, to appease the Imperials. A lot of grammar was changed or lost as a result. Take the first word here.” Sliding her finger over the paper, Ash tapped a large red letter at the top of the paper.
“That letter is ‘Seht’. Traditionally the first letter of every word was enlarged like that – Combined with the smaller letters, it spells ‘serjo’. Or ‘Lord’, the closest word in Tamrielic.”
“I know what serjo means,” Laesse crossed her arms. “And the alphabet.”
“That’s not my point. When they changed the format to cyrodilic, they stopped enlarging the first letters. By not learning from the original writings –” she tapped on the emboldened red seht. “— When you do read anything that uses clusters you’re going to either confuse yourself or separate it in your head. The exact way you did when you spelt the word out.”
“How did you— nevermind.” She hadn’t thought she had spelt it out loud, but maybe she did? Either way, she *had* forgot a letter and then failed to pick up on it. Frustration nagged at her. It felt stupid, considering a lot of shops formatted their signs with clusters. She didn’t have issues with it then.
“As I said, it’s a mistake most outlanders make,” Ash leant forwards, grabbing a handful of Laesse’s hair and combing her fingers through the black and white strands.
“You picked up the spoken language fairly well — faster than most outlanders I meet. You’re just a little slow on the written side of it.”
“Did you find Tamrielic difficult?” Ash hummed, lulling her head in thought. “Not terribly? Velothi is very different, but there’s some similarities to Dunmeris. Once you get a grasp on a few words it’s not hard to piece it together.” Her gaze hardened as she spoke. “If anything I had more trouble with the housemer and outlanders. Always overstepping boundaries. ‘Fitting name for an ashlander, huh?’ S’wits!” Her combing had become faster and rougher, matching her mood.
“Ash isn’t even called ash in Velothi! Not only that, but it’s a nickname — their heads are just too far up their own asses to realise. They’ll have an issue when you don’t address them by anything short of their house, yet have no problems treating others with disrespect!” “Hey, could you– Ow!” “Hm? Oh shit!” Ash relaxed her hands, and immediately Laesse jerked her head away and started rubbing her temple, huffing. In her annoyance, Ash’s combing had gotten rougher, eventually turning to harsh yanks. “Sorry.” Ash winced and pursed her lips, looking quite apologetic and awkward. “.. Is your head okay?” Worry glimmered in her eyes. Laesse pulled her hand away, shaking her head. “What? Worried I’ll drop dead?” She jostled her partner, grinning mischievously. “Tell you what – help this outlander practise her velothi and I’ll forgive you.” Ash scowled, pushing herself backwards, shifting onto her good leg with a slight skew. “Hmph! Fetcher.” Despite her harsh words, the friendly glint in her eyes made it clear she did not mean it in an offensive manner. “You have your journal on you still? Pull it out. How much do you know?”

Guar gum splits are the refined endosperm of the guar seed, appearing as small, flat, and oval-shaped translucent white or pale yellow pieces. They have a smooth texture and are separated from the seed after removing the husk and germ. These splits serve as the primary raw material for producing guar gum powder, which is widely used in various industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, oil drilling, and cosmetics.
