Caleb was not particularly keen on any of the details a wedding demanded. After a lifetime spent in uniform, what he least looked forward to was getting into another one - even if it was only a tuxedo. For whatever reason, he'd offered to pick up his brother for the occasion, if only because he lacked the interest in being driven by his brother, and Grace had insisted it would be nice if they 'went together'. So here Caleb found himself, knocking on the front door of his brother's home, wondering what the hell they had to talk about while they spent the afternoon together, and all of the things he'd much prefer to be doing instead.

As the door opened, it wasn't Gabriel, and as he lowered his gaze to Hannah, he would avert his gaze awkwardly upon realizing it was her. "Sorry." He mumbled, as if it were a bother to have knocked in the first place. "Gabe, uh, we have that fitting."

This book broke me and put me back together!

“Out of the Woods” follows high school sweethearts Sarah and Caleb Linwood as they join a grueling hiking trip intended to guide couples through rough patches in a desperate attempt to fix their relationship. 

I really connected with Sarah in reading from her point-of-view. While I haven’t experienced the death of a parent, I empathized with her grief and found myself relating to her struggles to find herself and determine the legacy she wants to leave behind. Rather than let life pass her by, she actively takes steps to know herself fully and I was moved by her journey of self-discovery.

Having been introduced to Sarah and Caleb in “Out on a Limb,” I enjoyed getting to know more about their beautiful, messy, complicated love story. Some chapters alternate between the past and the present, so in addition to seeing how the loss of Sarah’s mother shaped her, we see how Sarah and Caleb’s relationship came to be and why it was really important for them to reconnect seventeen years later. The flashbacks left me feeling deeply emotional and raw upon seeing their young love and the way they navigated tough moments together.

Watching Sarah and Caleb grow together as individuals and as a couple across the span of the week they spent in the wilderness warmed my heart. Knowing that they love each other so deeply, even when they are at their lowest, left me feeling a sense of hope as they worked through decades of grievances between them, found new ways to communicate with each other, learned to be more present, and reignited their love. I truly experienced a whole spectrum of emotions—their banter left me in stitches, their internal struggles made me sob, and the way they found their way back to each other made me swoon. Their relationship isn’t perfect and that’s what I love so much about this book, because no relationship ever is. You need to overcome the imperfections and inevitable hardships—deal with the differences, compromise, give something up, be willing to work at it—in order to have something great.

Mark Anderson here. With... a certain family bringing un-Watcherly influences into our church, it's more important than ever before that we train up our children right.

Sarah's doing a good job with our daughters, raising them to be proper young women who glorify The Watcher's name. Cleaning, caring for the little ones, cooking... it's all important preparation for their futures.

And I haven't forgotten about my own responsibilities as a man, a father, and a pastor. My Book Study group for boys is growing bigger and more popular every day, and all the young men there look up to me - especially my own son Nathan.

I'm proud of my boy - he's still only young, but he's studious, obedient, and he loves The Watcher like I do. Who knows, perhaps he'll even follow in my footsteps one day!

Caleb totally eats you out on your period.

You're hormonal, you're horny. Maybe it starts because you ask him to just let you dry hump his leg to get off because even you don't want to touch yourself during this time of the month. Maybe you're already embarrassed to be asking this one favor of him, hoping you just don't stain his pant leg when you grind on his thigh.

At first, he lets you hump him because he thinks that's just your foreplay. It isn't until you're frustratedly jerking your hips, trying to ignore your cramps and focus on the pleasure, that he realizes you're trying to come from that alone.

He lifts you off of him and lays you flat. You wonder what he's doing but you're on the verge of tears and are too frustrated to even ask so you let him lead you where he wants.

He doesn't care that the taste of iron is flooding his mouth because it's the taste of you. He'd do anything to taste you, to make you feel good.

When he finally has you seeing stars, spilling your release all over his tongue, he even has the audacity to ask if you'll let him go at it again. If you say no, he'll recede, give you a massage instead, make you dinner. If you say yes, he'll be the happiest man alive. And this time, you won't be seeing stars, you'll be seeing entire solar systems.
