taglocks tldr;

taglocks are items used to tie a spell to an object or person, whom i will be referring to as a target for the purpose of this post.

taglocks are items or ideas that represent the target or have belonged to the target - their name written down, a photo of them, their signature, DNA, etc.

they are especially useful for sympathetic magic (using objects or actions resembling or symbolically associated with the situation you want to influence).

keep in mind, the term “sympathetic” has nothing to do with actual sympathy or empathy - it refers to the idea of “like attracts like” and relates to the synchronicities and ties between objects and events that are involved to make these spells successful. think “making a poppet representing a target [using taglocks] in order to gain control over them or their actions.”

sympathetic magic can be helpful or harmful depending on your intent.

“isn’t all magic sympathetic?” well not necessarily - let’s say you want to cast a shield over yourself. you could go the route of visualization and energy manipulation to form the shield; or you could go the sympathetic route and use objects or items that represent yourself and the type of shield you want in order to perform the spell instead.

taglocks can be added to poppets, spell jars, sachets, or any other vessel you wish to contain the spell and its ingredients.

Some girl did me absoloutely DIRTY and spread lies about me, so im gonna put a hex on her. I know the most important stuff, but a few days ago i found a dead wasp in my room so i have one question:

How do you use dead wasps/ bugs in hexes?

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, my job is very high stress and time consuming. Totally my bad. Was not ignoring you in the slightest.

I'm glad to have helped you. That makes me very happy to hear.

I'm going to be honest though, I personally wouldn't use the dead wasp. It's not like you found it on the street and was like ha Imma get that person. It was found in your room.

Now...my slightly paranoid ass would assume that shit was an omen or attack or some shit. I don't know. I see something like that and I'm like some shit might be going down. I'd cleanse the little fucker and my room and get it out of my vicinity.

Then again, I had a history with someone who used bugs in their shitty intentions against me so that could be just a me thing as well. That was when I was young, dumb and inexperienced as fuck though.

(also I just do not like bugs, we do not vibe)

As to the answer you seek on what to do with this dead wasp:

Dead buggies are (imo) more suitable for flat out curses. Like...that goes beyond "bitch keep my name out your mouth" to "I will fuck up everything that makes you happy."

But your journey and craft is yours. So do as you see fit. I just highly recommend you cleanse like hell afterwards.

You can use the dead bug as a symbol of your anger/betrayed feeling coming back to the lie spreader.

Get real creative with it: Use the stinger as the bite of their lies now being turned onto them. Or even your own attack.

Take the wings and crush them over a taglock of the person as if to ground the person's lies. May lies fly out of the mouth no more.

Those are my first thoughts.

Like I said, be sure to cleanse yourself afterwards. Don't want that bad energy on you.

When it comes to spells and shit, try and think outside the box. Put a nasty little spin on it, almost like a signature on your own personalized fuck you if you're brave enough.

Do make sure to ward/protect yourself first and foremost. Sometimes even if they don't know it, your target could have something to reflect energy especially if the intent is to hex or harm.

You'd be surprised.

Better to be safe than sorry, honestly. I've made the mistake myself of just hexing without a ward or two. I learned.

Never spellwork when blind with emotion. That's how you fuck up. Witchcraft is all intention and that's all well and good but emotions can really fuck up the mind if you allow them to.

By all means, put your emotion into a spell; it's a powerful tool. Hell, I've used the intensity of my love for my spouse as a ward for them. I've thought of all the things that make me laugh and happy to bless my nephew. Emotions are a damn good tool.

Just don't let it get out of control.

Oo oo oo, if anyone is interested! I did a whole podcast episode on the history of tarot and the origins of the use of the cards in divination back in August of 2021 when this was going around the first time, tracing the evolution of the cards from gaming tables to fortune-telling party games to the 19th century occult revivals and the rise of modern witchcraft.

Short version: Every single person that talked about alleged Egyptian origins for the cards, secret unlockable texts within the images, or tie-ins with Jewish mysticism was talking entirely out of their ass. Their information was bad and they should feel bad.

Y'all, saying that cartomancy is a "closed Romani practice" is like saying money lending is a "closed Jewish practice." Cartomancy was a practice that Romani people were forced into due to discrimination.

Ettellia said he learned tarot from Romani people who brought tarot from Egypt. He was lying to make tarot sound more exotic. Europe was in the middle of egyptomania. There is literally no historical evidence that this supposed origin is even slightly true. Europe has had cartomancy since the Roman Empire.

Around the time that tarot divination was being invented, tarocci decks were fairly new. If there was a "traditional romani cartomancy" method, (which even Romani oral histories do not support) it almost definitely would have been based on the massively more popular Belgian-Genoese pattern deck, not the tarocci deck.

Hex idea- Use a jimson weed seed pod as a container for the spell.

OR if you're crafty, make some handmade paper with jimson weed seeds embedded in it, write whatever on the paper and bury it somewhere and the seeds will hopefully sprout out of the paper feeding the spell.

Another perspective I have on this (I agree with the above too, not contradicting, just adding) is that I tend to curse people who have hurt me or hurt someone I love in a significant way. They have already caused harm and I am already scarred from it. Cursing can be a way of removing the poison that was given to you, and returning it to the sender with interest. I have to find a way to remove this metaphorical poison from myself anyway, since it's causing me harm. Might as well make use of it in the process.

The process for cursing that I usually use has a healing component. A way to process the strong negative emotions I've been dealing with. And then I cast the curse.
