How to Get Healthier Hair – and keep it that way!
........GET A FREE HEALTHY HAIR GUID.......
Step 1: Wash your hair less often
Shampooing your hair removes dirt and oils, but over-shampooing can strip natural oils from your hair and scalp. Plus, shampoo that isn’t rinsed out fully can build-up on your hair, leaving it looking dull and lifeless.
Washing your hair a few times per week can help maintain oil balance for most hair types. Use our Batiste™ Dry Shampoos between washes to absorb excess oils and refresh your hair.
Also, try our Batiste™ Naturally Dry Shampoo line with 100% natural, plant-powered extracts and propellant for great results in a recyclable can that uses 40% less packaging when compared to Batiste Original.
Step 2: Apply conditioner properly
Conditioner is best applied to the middle and ends of your hair, then worked backward toward your scalp. Your hair needs the hydration further from the scalp, but your scalp can get dry, too. Pay extra attention to hydrating your scalp if it’s itchy or you notice flakes.
And make sure you choose the right conditioner for your hair type: thick curls need a different kind of hydrating than straight or thin hair.
Step 3: Use a hair mask weekly or as needed
Hair masks are deep moisturizing treatments that penetrate into the hair shaft to hydrate and strengthen from within. To help keep your hair supple, shiny, and strong, make a hair mask part of your healthy hair care routine at least weekly. To learn more about hair masks and how Batiste™ Leave-In Masks are different, check out our guide.
Step 4: Protect hair when heat styling
Try to reduce how often you get a blow out or use a hot iron on your hair and apply a moisturizing protectant before using heat. Batiste™ Leave-In Masks can help protect hair against heat up to 450 degrees – rub some on your strands before blowdrying or ironing your hair.
Step 5: Minimize hair processing such as dyes, perms, relaxer
It’s fun to change up your hair color and style, and once you start bleaching, dying or processing, you have to maintain the look. Let your hair rest between processing treatments and give it extra love to allow it to rehydrate and recuperate after you’ve given it a chemical workout. Is your bleached hair damaged and in need of some love? Treat it to a hair mask to repair and strengthen.
Step 6: Protect hair when going in the sun or swimming
When indulging in some fun in the sun, help keep hair healthier by applying conditioner or a leave-in mask before swimming in any type of water (but especially chlorinated pools). If you’re a regular swimmer, wear a swim cap when you can to minimize your hair’s exposure to chlorine, and it’s always a good idea to wear a hat when out in the sun to help protect your hair and skin.
Step 7: Detangle hair before shower and shampoo
Brush or finger comb your hair to remove tangles before you wash it. Taking the few moments to detangle before jumping in the shower after a workout or in the morning will save you time and help prevent breakage.
Step 8: Brush your hair when dry vs. wet
When your hair is wet, it becomes more vulnerable to breakage. If you want to prevent flyaways, split ends and damage, avoid brushing wet hair. The best time to brush your hair is when it is almost or completely dry. This may vary by hair texture, as those with curly hair can potentially create more damage with dry brushing. If you really can’t resist brushing your hair when wet, use a wide tooth comb instead of a hairbrush. Tooth combs can be more gentle to the scalp and hair follicles, if you comb slowly.
Step 9: Squeeze wet hair with a towel, don’t rub
Wrap the towel around your head or long strands and blot to absorb water. Rubbing your hair with a towel introduces tangles and creates breakage.
Step 10: Protect and moisturize your scalp
Your scalp can get quite dry, especially if the air is dry, you over-shampoo, or it’s exposed to the sun. Wear hats and scalp sunscreen when going out in the sun, run a humidifier in your home if your indoor air is dry, shampoo less often and use a moisturizing shampoo. Use a deep scalp treatment as needed to hydrate your scalp if it’s gotten dry and flaky.
Step 11: Care for your hair while you sleep
Pull long hair back into a loose braid or put hair up into a sleep cap. Also try changing out your cotton or microfiber pillowcase for a silk or silk-alternative one. The smoother fabric can help prevent or reduce tangling while you sleep.
Step 12: Get regular haircuts
Trim your hair every 3 to 7 weeks if it’s short or bobbed, every 8-12 weeks for textured curly hair, and at least every 12 weeks for long hair to remove damaged or split ends and keep the shape of your hair style. Regular trims are a must for keeping your hair healthy, no matter your hair type.

Step 13: Eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water
Eat a diet rich in protein, essential fatty acids, and B-vitamins to help give your body the nutrients it needs to produce keratin, the structural protein in your hair and nails. Drink plenty of water to help keep skin and hair hydrated as well.

How to Take Care and Clean your Sterling Silver Jewellery
Owning a timeless piece of jewellery can feel daunting because of its price angle but with sterling silver jewellery, you can add the timeless classics to your box of possessions without feeling too heavy on your pockets. Not only does silver jewellery add the extra edge to your style statement that goes perfectly well with almost every attire, if cared for properly your silver earrings can also be your best friend forever.
All your silver jewellery need is a little care and cleaning to keep its lustrous sheen intact and in return, it will give you endless love.
The colour of silver jewellery can darken from its reaction with moisture or the sulphur compounds in the air, but the tarnish can easily be prevented with some cool hacks. Here are some tips on how to keep your dainty sterling silver trinkets as shiny as new.
Caring When Stored
It may feel great that you have your timeless sterling silver jewellery safely locked in your storage but remember, storing it in the right way to avoid tarnish is key to the lustre of your jewellery. First and foremost, it is important to store the silver jewellery in a cool, dark and dry place.
Secondly, keep the silver jewellery in storage bags or even zip pouches, all our online order will include one for you, and ensure that you push out any excess air from the bag. As a precautionary step to absorb moisture, you can also wrap your jewellery in its polishing cloth.
Hint: you may want to place silica gel sachets inside your jewellery organiser or case, that act as a dehumidifier.
It is a good idea to store your silver jewellery away from direct sunlight, and never leave your jewellery sitting in the bathroom.
Check up our custom design mini round shaped Jewellery Case Organiser, crafted from 100% Top Grain First Layer Genuine Leather.
Caring During and After Wearing
Have a date night and want to look your best? Your sterling silver necklace will do the trick of enhancing your get-up but consider putting on your necklace at the end when you get ready. Apply moisturiser, hair spray and perfumes before wearing the silver necklace and not after.
Also, when you wear your sterling silver neckpiece it touches the moisture in your body that may lead to discolouration of the jewellery if not taken care of. But a simple cleaning step can save you the stress.
After you come back from your outing, hold your silver jewellery under warm running water to remove any dirt and then dry it completely - first by air-drying and then rubbing any residue with a clean and soft cloth. And voila, your silver necklace is free from moisture and ready to sleep in your jewellery box until you wear them again.
But hey, jewellery is not just to be stored as an asset but to adorn your look and personality. Plus, it is healthy for the jewellery too to be worn as the natural oil of your skin makes it radiant and glow.
Caring by Not Wearing Under Certain Circumstances
While you may want to flaunt your sterling silver earrings everywhere you go, wearing them literally ‘everywhere’ is perhaps not such a good idea. Take swimming as an example. If you wear your silver earrings to the swimming pool, it will have a chemical reaction with the chlorine present in the pool water and as a result, the earrings will lose their polish and colour. Similarly, your silver earrings will be damaged if it comes in contact with seawater.
Of course, taking a shower won’t do a lot of damage to the sterling silver earrings but exposing them to too much water and moisture will still darken their colour. In case you forget to remove your earrings before going for a bath, make sure you dry them later. Also, you may lose your earrings while bathing, so it is wise to remove them before stepping into the shower.
You would also want to avoid wearing your sterling silver earrings during a workout. The sweat that your body releases during exercise will have an adverse effect on your silver earrings.
Easy Home Tricks to Clean & Polish Your Sterling Silver
Toothpaste: Apply toothpaste on a soft cloth and slowly rub on the jewellery in a to-and-fro pattern.
Soapy water: Mix a mild soap in warm water and gently clean your silver jewellery. Don’t forget to do the drying round after washing.
Baking soda: Combine 1/4 cup of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of water and rub the thick paste tenderly on the silver jewellery followed by the drying process. You can also replace water with vinegar in the mixture for better results.
Lemon juice and olive oil: Another winning solution for polishing sterling silver is the lemon juice and olive oil mixture. Simply dip a clean cloth in the mix and wipe your silver jewellery.

What types of goldfish are there?
All known goldfish belong to a species of pet. Since this fish is considered to be extremely robust and easy to keep, breeders started keeping the pretty animals in ponds early on. They were bred in China over 1,000 years ago, making them the second oldest ornamental fish in the world after the Koi.
It is therefore hardly surprising that there are a large number of different goldfish breeds today. In China alone, more than 350 to 400 different fish forms are known.
In the country of origin China and Japan, the breeding of veiled varieties began, which have acquired a cultural meaning as a symbol of happiness and fertility. In addition to different fin and body shapes, there are also different colors and patterns.
It should be noted, however, that some of these breeds are prohibited due to animal welfare concerns. With some of the drastic changes in the skeleton as well as in the head area and with missing fins one can also speak of "agony breeding". Before buying, you should therefore inform yourself well about the individual forms and only purchase approved goldfish.
Where did the goldfish originally come from?
Goldfish are freshwater fish that were originally native to the East Asian region. As mentioned, they were bred 1,000 years ago as a pet that was only used for ornamental purposes. Therefore, an exact indication of origin is not easy.
While the crucian carpet used to be an ancestor, today it is refuted by classic morphometric comparisons. Comparative studies of the genome of goldfish and gable have yet to confirm whether the prevailing view that the goldfish comes from the widespread gable. Since it is not scientifically common to determine the species of pets, the species name Carassius auratus that is often given is actually not quite correct. The term Carassius gibelio forma auratus (Bloch, 1782) would be scientifically correct. Nevertheless, the first name is mainly used in trade.
What should I watch out for when keeping goldfish?
To keep a goldfish, an appropriately large aquarium is required. The keeping in small, round vessels, which was common for decades, is in no way appropriate to the species and usually quickly leads to the death of the animals. After all, the fish have a great urge to move and the water quality and the oxygen content in such small vessels also leave something to be desired.
Depending on the variety, goldfish can grow up to 35 or 40 cm in size. However, many of the shapes intended for aquariums only grow to around 20 to 25 cm. Nevertheless, this means that goldfish owners have to buy a correspondingly large aquarium. The dimensions of the aquarium depend on the size of the adult goldfish. The minimum size of a tank for smaller goldfish is 100 centimeters (tank length) with a capacity of 200 liters. A volume of 50 liters must be included for each goldfish. Remember: these are minimum dimensions. Of course, the movement-loving fish are also happy about a larger habitat.
Some varieties are so large that they are only suitable for ponds. So that they can spend the winter there, the pond must be at least 1.5 m deep. With shallower ponds, goldfish must be kept in cold water aquariums during the cold season, which is not straightforward. Therefore, inform yourself well about the needs of the individual varieties.
In general, goldfish place little demands on their owners. So the water does not have to be heated, but is sufficient if it is passively heated to 12 to 23 ° C by the air temperature in the room.
However, a filter is important to ensure good water quality. It should be adapted to the size of the aquarium and have three levels: the mechanical level is used to remove coarse particles such as excretions or excess feed, while the chemical level removes odors, discoloration and other organic substances. The biological stage, on the other hand, breaks down excretions and ammonia with the help of bacteria.
Plants in the aquarium are absolutely not necessary for the goldfish, especially since they usually eat them anyway. Artificial plants and pieces of wood can also be used as decoration. It is important that the objects have no sharp edges on which he can injure himself. Don't put too much decoration in the aquarium to give the fish enough room to move. Plants should therefore be marginalized. Gravel can also be placed on the bottom of the aquarium. Appropriate disinfection measures must always be taken when equipping the aquarium and installing new plants or objects.
Before fish are placed in an aquarium and also while they are being kept, the quality of the water should always be checked carefully. High chlorine, ammonia or nitrate levels could damage or even kill the fish. Liquid tests are better for testing than test strips, which are often difficult to interpret.
What diet do goldfish need?
Proper feeding is an important prerequisite for the health of goldfish. Since the goldfish do not feel full, it is important to give them an appropriate amount of food. As a rule of thumb, only give as much food as it can eat in a minute. Overfeeding with low-quality feed can lead to obesity and ultimately to severe liver damage. Instead of giving large amounts of feed once a day, it is therefore better to feed smaller amounts several times a day.
Like all animals, goldfish like variety, but more important is a high-quality staple food. Commercially available fish food in the form of dry flakes or pellets can occasionally be mixed with live food such as frozen mosquito larvae. Salads and Chinese cabbage are also popular. Aquarium plants also serve as a source of food for goldfish. Therefore, when choosing, make sure not to plant only delicacies like the waterweed. This could lead to the pelvis being eaten quickly. Robust plants that are not or hardly eaten like sump screws are a good addition to the plants popular with goldfish.
Floating food should be soaked for a few seconds beforehand so that it sinks and the goldfish absorbs less air while eating. The same applies to freeze-dried feed. Soak it in a cup of aquarium water so that the food does not expand in the goldfish's stomach, causing problems when swimming.
How old do goldfish get?
With optimal goldfish keeping, the ornamental fish can live to be over 20 years old and thus be long-term companions for the home. However, this requires suitable aquariums and regular maintenance, as this is the only way to avoid diseases such as fungi in goldfish.
Goldfish diseases
The goldfish's immune system is considered highly effective. Nevertheless, the animals can reach their limits and become ill due to unfavorable circumstances. Then no help is possible in over 50% of the cases. Prevention through correct goldfish keeping is therefore the basic requirement for a healthy and long life of the aquarium inhabitants.
These tips help prevent diseases:
It is particularly critical to set up an aquarium because the new ecosystem first has to consolidate. Goldfish should therefore not be placed in new pools too early.
Of course, goldfish can be sick when they are purchased. Therefore only fish that appear healthy should be bought. If newcomers are introduced to an existing fish company, they should first be quarantined for at least four weeks. If there are no clinical pictures during this time, the fish can be returned to the old stock. Initially, only a little water is exchanged in order to adapt the immune systems of all animals to one another.
Since plants can also transmit diseases, new ones should always be disinfected with a potassium permanganate solution before being introduced into the aquarium.
These preventive measures are also important for lovers of goldfish, as there are hardly any veterinarians who are familiar with the therapy of diseased ornamental fish. In addition, only a few fish diseases can be tackled with medication at all. Before medication is used, an accurate diagnosis is important so as not to burden the animals even more. Therefore, do not consult your dog's veterinarian, but one who is particularly familiar with (ornamental) fish.
Buy goldfish
The goldfish and all the derived varieties are among the most widely distributed and traded pets in the world. Today, the fish come not only from the classic fish farming countries in Southeast and East Asia, but also from large farms in Italy, Florida and Israel. Goldfish, which are offered in every aquarium shop, mostly come from the import and therefore you should pay attention to some important points when buying.
First of all, you should also observe the recommendation mentioned in point 3 and only purchase breeds approved in Germany to avoid cruelty to animals and so-called "torture breeding".
For the health of the fish, you should also carefully check the keeping of the fish, i.e. the basins of the shop. Only buy fish from healthy tanks to avoid getting diseases in the aquarium. Most sales pools are overstaffed, but the fish should still appear healthy. To check this, you should visit the fishmonger several times and only buy fish that swim around, have an appetite, spread all fins and have a healthy shape and skin surface. If, on the other hand, the fish looks apathetic, has cloudy eyes or coated fins and jams the fins, the rule is: fingers away!

Slippery When Wet
Pairing: Wonho/Shin Hoseok x reader (female)
Word Count: 2,339
Rating: (M) for language and explicit sex
Part 4 of the Monsta X Kinks series: public/shower sex 💦
The smell of chlorine permeates the space, reaching you where you’re seated in the first row of the stands. No one around you comes close to your level of enthusiasm. Your friends with you cover their ears, laughing in amusement as you scream and wave your sign above your head.
But hey, if their boyfriends were the number one ranked swimmer in the state in three events at the moment, they’d be yelling their heads off too.
Wonho takes his place on the starting block, wiping his goggles with his thumbs before securing them over his eyes. He turns as you call out another encouragement, giving you a wide grin and a thumbs up before bending down to get in position.
The crowd quiets for a moment until the starting signal goes off and the swimmers dive into the water. Then the noise picks back up to a fever pitch. This meet is the qualifying event for the national championships and getting into the top three is crucial to keeping his spot in the rankings.
He’s been on edge for days, training like crazy. You’ve had to remind him constantly to make sure he eats and sleeps. But God, his drive is attractive. The way that he pushes himself to be the best is one of the things you love about him.
You scream out encouragements as the swimmers approach the 100 meter mark. He’s behind the leader by an arm’s length coming into the second flip turn. He’s getting distracted by looking at the competition, you think, shaking your head.
You always tell him that he should just focus on his own lane, to not worry about the swimmers next to him. But he just gives you a lopsided grin, telling you that seeing his competition pushes him to swim faster.
His pace picks up, his arms blurring as he digs them into the water rapidly. He’s got the perfect body for the butterfly, his strong shoulders and thighs usually leave his competition in his wake. He’s broken the state record in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, but going into the national championships the competition is steep.
You drop your sign to your feet as they come into the final length of the pool. He’s still behind the leader, some freshman upstart from a small liberal arts college you’ve never heard of.
Your eyes dart back and forth between Wonho and his challenger, cupping your hands around your mouth as you cheer him on. He makes progress, but it’s not quite enough. His hand reaches the wall milliseconds after his rival.
Second place. You’re thrilled. He’s going to nationals, and with the brutal pace the challenger set you know they’ve got to be the first and second seed going to the championships. Your friends jump to their feet and hug you as the crowd cheers.
You want to catch Wonho’s eyes but he doesn’t look in your direction. He rips the goggles off his head and ducks under the water. You know he’s already beating himself up. When he resurfaces he swims over to hold onto the lane divider. He shakes the hand of the winner, giving him a respectful nod of his head and what you can assume are words of congratulations.
When the winner turns to shake the hand of the man in the other lane Wonho heaves himself out of the pool and stalks over to his towel. He grabs it harshly in his hand and heads straight to the locker room.
You sigh, knowing he’s going to be in a mood tonight. The rest of the meet goes quickly, the freestyle relays finishing up with no delays. As the aquatic center empties, Wonho still hasn’t come out. You wave off your friends’ offers to wait for you, saying you’re fine and that you’re going to wait for him.
You make your way onto the deck, scrolling through Instagram as you wait. Twenty minutes after the last event ends, there’s still no sign of him. The stands are empty of fans and only a handful swimmers are standing around on the deck, chatting. You frown, wondering what could be keeping him.
A minute later his teammate Minhyuk comes out, dressed in street clothes, slinging his duffle bag across his shoulders.
“Hey Minhyuk, have you seen Wonho?” you ask him.
He gives you a nod and sticks his thumb out, pointing back to the locker rooms. His mouth tilts up in a rueful grin. “He’s in the showers, drowning his sorrows. He’s the only one still in there, if you want to go and get him.”
“Thanks,” you reply, patting his shoulder as you walk past him into the locker room.
You can hear the shower going in the back and peek your head around the corner. He’s there, just as Minhyuk said. His hand against the tile, his head dipped down underneath the flow of water. You sigh and set your purse on a nearby sink. You slip off your shoes and socks and set them on the floor before walking into the shower room.
He turns to look at you as you approach and you give him a reassuring smile. He sighs and lifts his head out of the water. “I know. I know. You’re going to say all sorts of sweet things and tell me how amazing I am. I just wanted to mope for a bit first,” he says with a wry grin.
You come up and pull him into your arms, not minding the water that seeps into your clothes from his wet body. He drops his head to your shoulder and you run a hand through his hair, massaging his neck.
“How about I make you feel better in a different way, then?” you say in his ear in a teasing voice.
He turns his head against your neck and gives it a hot, open-mouthed kiss that sends a shock of desire to your core. “Hmm, what did you have in mind?”
You put your hands on his shoulders, pushing him back slightly into the spray of water. Giving him a seductive look through your lashes, you run your hand down his toned chest. You step up to him, kissing his weak spot beneath his ear before trailing kisses down his chest. You giggle as the water starts soaking your hair, your clothes.
As you kneel down onto the floor you run your hands down to the edge of his swim trunks. You look up at him from your position and start easing them down his thighs. His dick pops out, bobbing against his stomach and more than ready for your attention.
He groans and looks around, making sure there’s no one around before turning back to you with a wicked grin. You lean forward and grab his cock in one hand as your other comes to his hip to steady yourself. You tease him at first, running your tongue around the head as you stroke his shaft. He lets out a breathy moan, his hand finding the back of your head, fingers tangling in your hair.
When you finally take him in your mouth he bucks into you involuntarily, hissing in pleasure. You hollow your cheeks and suck, following the motion with your hand, lightly squeezing. You look up to watch him as you move. His blissed out expression is so erotic that you’re rapidly getting wet in a way that has nothing to do with the water coating your legs.
After a few minutes of alternating sucking and licking him, he’s a moaning mess; holding onto the wall for support with his eyes closed. You pull him deep into your mouth, gagging for a moment as he hits the back of your throat. At the same time you slide your hand between his legs, teasing and gently tugging on his balls. He shudders and a stream of incomprehensible curses fall from his lips.
“Fuck, I need to be inside you, princess,” he groans, tugging up on your hair lightly.
You’re only too eager to comply. When you stand up he slides his hands to your shirt, quickly removing the damp material. In a rush you tug off your wet shorts and panties and unclasp your bra. He fully removes his suit and throws it behind him.
As soon as you’re both naked he pushes you gently against the wall, his hands sliding over your wet body. His lips fervently find yours, the water pouring down on you both makes them slick. He pulls back for a moment, eyeing the wall and you.
“I want to pick you up, but the last thing I want to do is slip and drop you,” he says with a chuckle.
You purse your lips, thinking. After a beat you raise your eyebrows to him and turn around, leaning your upper body against the wall. Your hands come to either side to support you and you stick your ass out to him. Looking over your shoulder at him, you bite your lip around a smile.
He smirks and comes up behind you, bending down to kiss your shoulder. One hand firmly grasps your hip. The other runs down your ass to your slit, dipping in to make sure you’re wet and ready. You gasp as he slides his finger in and out a few times. Satisfied, he pulls his finger out and positions himself at your entrance.
He moves his other hand to your hip and pulls you slowly onto him. You rest your head against the slick tile, moaning as he stretches you out. After a beat he pulls out before slamming back into you, your bodies slapping together as wet skin meets wet skin. He sets a steady pace, thrusting into you deeply from behind.
He runs a hand up your slick back before wrapping his hand around your hair, pulling your head gently back. Your hands flex on the wall, the motion of your breasts against the cool tiles drawing your nipples to aching points.
“Hold on baby,” he huffs out in between thrusts and you brace your arms more fully on the wall.
His other hand leaves your hip and moves around to stroke one of your breasts. You push off further so he can have full access. He massages slowly for a moment before brushing the nipple, moving his thumb back and forth. You choke out a whimper, your head involuntarily pulling against his grip on your hair. The tug sends a delicious wave of harsh pleasure down your spine.
His hand moves to your other breast to give it the same treatment. This time he pinches down on the nipple and you clench your inner muscles in response, a ragged moan leaving your lips. He grunts behind you, swearing at the added friction against his thrusts.
He moves his hand down your stomach to your core and begins swirling his fingers in loose circles around your clit. He picks up the pace, pulling out and slamming roughly into you. You scream, high-pitched and needy, and then laugh a moment later. You cover your mouth with one hand, hoping you didn’t draw too much attention.
“That’s my baby, always a screamer,” he says affectionately in between pants.
The fingers he’s using to massage your clit become more focused, sweeping insistently back and forth over the aching nub. Well beyond caring, you cry out with every thrust, feeling ready to burst.
He gives an extra tug to your hair, pulling your body flush against his, your back pressing against his wet chest. His lips find your neck, his tongue licking up the moisture gathered there.
“Come for me, princess. You have to go first,” he says in your ear.
His hand leaves your hair, binding itself across your chest to hold you firmly against him. You come in a rush, gasping. He keeps up his pace, frantically thrusting into you to draw the sensation out. You grab his arm with both hands to steady yourself as your orgasm leaves you weak in the knees.
When you can focus, you turn in his arms and drop to your knees again. He rests a hand against the wall, groaning as you take him into your mouth once more. He reaches his free hand to the back of your head to hold you steady as he fucks your mouth.
You hollow your cheeks and moan against him in your mouth, the vibration making him hiss in pleasure. He comes a moment later, filling your mouth. You swallow several times and then pull back, letting the water clean him off.
You stand up and lean against the wall, his forehead coming to rest on your shoulder as you catch your breaths. After a minute he lifts his head and moves his hand to cup your jaw, planting a tender kiss on your lips.
You both look at your clothes scattered around on the wet floor and laugh. He reaches over and turns off the water and you shiver in the absence of the warm spray.
He picks up his trunks and walks over to his bag, reaching in and rummaging around. He pulls out two towels and brings one over to you. You dry off quickly and bend to pick up your wet clothes, giving him a sassy look. He laughs and grabs an extra shirt and pair of shorts for you.
“Are you feeling better?” you ask while you both get dressed. “You’re amazing, you know. I’m proud of you no matter what.”
He slings his bag over his shoulder and comes over to wrap an arm around your waist as you head toward the doors. He leans down and kisses the top of your head.
“I know, baby. I’m so lucky to have you,” he says. “I might have to lose more often, though, if this is how you’re going to cheer me up.”
You scoff and bump him with your hip, laughing as you head through the doors together.

Forest Shampoo: Say Yes to Good Hair Days this Summer
“Our hair is a statement of style, an affirmation of the beauty, and an expression of self-love”
-Amanda Mandela
This quote by Amanda speaks multitudes about how hair is one of the most beautiful things about ourselves. Summer is officially here and pandemic days are behind us. Now you’d want to look your best no matter the place whether you’re in the office getting work done or chilling with your friends or you’re out on a date. Lately, our hair endures a lot of stress and damage in the process of making us look good. Today we’re here to help you and your hair look the best with forest shampoo.
However, we are no strangers to the fact that all the stress we go through be it physical or mental has adverse effects on our hairline. Hair damage occurs when hair is exposed to harsh chemicals, heat, and friction that causes the cuticle( a protective structure around the outer layer of the hair follicle) to erode. It also causes the hair to become frizzy, weak, and dry which makes them more susceptible to further damage. All of the products used to style them also cause hair damage. Also, the given climatic conditions along with pollution take a massive toll on our hairline.

According to a test conducted in India, 60% of hair loss is because of it.
Here are some Do’s and Don’ts that you should follow to keep your locks locked to your head( Really sorry about the dad joke)
Don’t blow dry your hair every day, allow your hair to air dry naturally.
You should refrain from styling or heating hair that is dirty, wash them if you want to style them.
You should always wash your hair after a swim or when your hair comes in contact with Chlorine or saltwater. Wash your hair thoroughly and then use a good oil to massage your hair to keep the moisture locked in hair for protection.
If you like coloring your hair in different colors we hate to be a buzzkill but coloring hair causes damage to your to balance this you must take care and opt for options that repair your hair.
You must also be aware of how many times you must wash your hair in a week. For this, you need to identify your scalp. If you go out a lot then you can wash your twice a week or if you stay mostly indoors then you can wash it once. Forest shampoo goes is suitable for all types of scalps. It cleans all the dirt and nourishes your scalp.
Lastly, you should also invest in hair care from time to time which means using shampoos, conditioners and oils.

· Toothpaste: Apply toothpaste on a soft cloth and slowly rub on the jewellery in a to-and-fro pattern.
· Soapy water: Mix a mild soap in warm water and gently clean your silver jewellery. Don’t forget to do the drying round after washing.
· Baking soda: Combine 1/4 cup of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of water and rub the thick paste tenderly on the silver jewellery followed by the drying process. You can also replace water with vinegar in the mixture for better results.
· Lemon juice and olive oil: Another winning solution for polishing sterling silver is the lemon juice and olive oil mixture. Simply dip a clean cloth in the mix and wipe your silver jewellery.

How To Clean Up Your Liver and Vital Organs

Have you ever really wondered why your cholesterol levels and liver enzymes are high?
Why your blood pressure is rising?
Why old age spots are showing up on your face?
And why you can't lose weight no matter what diet you're on?
These issues all have one thing in common: a liver that is crying out for a healthy detox.
This is one of the main "underlying causes" of fat gain and poor health, that most people don't acknowledge (and that few even know about).
You see, your liver only weighs a few pounds but it is by far one of the most important organs in your body.
It's the main filtration system for your body.
For example, imagine a brand new filter for your kitchen faucet or shower.
When you first look at the filter, it's clear and may look like some sort of mesh material, with holes you can see light through.
Now once you start running water through the filter, you begin filtering out all types of particles and microbes that shouldn't be there.
Over time, these particles and microbes collect on the filter. And if you don't ever clean the filter, what happens?
Well, the filter gets full of the toxic compounds and needs to be cleansed (very much like a filter in your air conditioner that gets clogged up with dust, dirt and other particles).
If you're following along well, you can probably guess what this is leading to.
You see, this same exact "dirty filter" scenario happens with your liver.
In normal daily living, toxins are clogging the filtration system of your liver. And although the body is self-cleaning, the amount of toxins in the environment and food supply is so great that it often exceeds the filtration ability of the liver.
This is yet another reason that cholesterol levels shoot up, since the liver is responsible for processing and synthesizing cholesterol.
This is also when liver enzyme levels rise, indicating that the filtration ability and functions of the liver have been depressed.
Blood pressure can shoot up too, and old age spots are more prevalent because the pigment lipofuscin can't be filtered in the liver.
And of course, you can't lose weight because your liver is closely tied in with processing of food and nutrients. When it's working overtime to rid your body of toxins and keep you safe, you can bet it isn't sparing a moment to deal with your pesky fat stores.
Looks like it's time for a detox!
A healthy one of course...(and not some 3 day juice fast, after which you return to eat the same junk you were in the first place!)
What 'Clogs' Your Liver
Some of the biggest "liver cloggers" are some of the most common things we come into contact within the environment on a daily basis:
Processed foods and refined foods
Hydrogenated fats (and partially hydrogenated ones - FYI these are trans fat, the deadliest type of fat)
Industrial seed oils (including vegetable oil, soybean oil, corn oil, etc.)
Harmful chemicals within laundry detergents and cleaning products, which end up being absorbed in the skin
Toxins in the air we breathe such as heavy metals and pollution
Tobacco smoke and excessive alcohol intake
Prescription drugs and recreational drugs (and even over-the-counter NSAIDs)
Caffeine, over a reasonable amount (I recommend no more than 400 mg daily)
Tap water and well water that contains drug residues, heavy metals, fluoride and chlorine, and even microbes
Skin care products filled with chemicals that need to be removed from the body asap!
How to Have A Healthy Detox
It comes down to this: you have a choice to make each day...
You can choose to live "clean" and decrease the stress and filtration demands on your liver...
Or, you can live without much concern about this, and wake up one day with high blood pressure, heart disease and other degenerative diseases.
Sadly, many people think nothing about their health and what their body needs to function at a high level.
And while others are on the right path by exercising and eating right, they never go to the next level - a level in which they take steps that increase their body's ability to detoxify wastes, especially in the colon and the liver.
Essentially, they leave it up to chance.
But, as I'm sure you've learned in this book already...it's never up to chance.
Just like the filter on your water faucet in the kitchen or in your bedroom air conditioner, your liver will begin to clog up with toxins after a period of time.
The toxins are the same ones that have contributed to the obesity epidemic and insane disease/early death rates the world is facing these days.
The good part is: there are various things you can do each day that will drastically improve the liver's ability to detoxify itself.
This is how a proper detox is done.
It's not a 3 day juice cleanse, and it's not a 14 day "miracle detox".
It's a complete change to eating and lifestyle habits that ensure you're keeping your liver and body "clean" day in and day out.
Here are some things you can do. Take these step by step if you must, but do not wait. Take action today.
1. Remove processed, refined, and gluten/wheat-based foods which all contribute to a clogged system
2. Eat enough vegetables and fruit to prove phytonutrients that help the healthy detox process
a. Try to eat veggies with every meal, and 2-3 pieces of fruit daily
3. Drink enough water, which makes it possible for the body to remove the wastes detoxified by the liver
a. Most Americans are also chronically dehydrated which can contribute to fatigue, pain, and various imbalances, leading to many health problems.
4. Eat enough fiber, which helps remove waste from the colon
a. Dark green veggies and fruit are the best sources for fiber
b. Do not use fiber supplements
c. Try not to get all your fiber from grains, since the "roughage" they create can make very small incisions in the gut lining which cause problems over time.
5. Take vitamin and mineral supplements (make sure you do your research first!)
a. This helps to remedy vitamin and mineral deficiencies in the body, which most of us have
b. 3 very important vitamins/minerals that most Americans are deficient in are Vitamin D3, Magnesium and Potassium.
c. There are also many more which are beneficial (we will these discuss later)
6. Use various herbs or herbal combinations that cleanse the liver gently.
a. The best known and researched herbs with liver cleansing abilities are Milk Thistle and Turmeric/Curcumin.
b. Milk Thistle has been used as a liver tonic for centuries in Europe and Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in India for a variety of ailments.
Now that you've seen the components of a healthy, gradual detox...did you notice that the items on this list are things that not very many people pay serious attention to on a regular basis?
Sure we may be doing some of these things already since we "know" we need them to be healthy. But unfortunately, many of us simply doing a very poor job at it.
We might eat a healthy salad for lunch, but eat processed or unsafe foods from breakfast and dinner. Or we take all our vitamins for 3 days in a row and then forget to take them the other 4 days. The list goes on and on.
The truth is many of us "half ass" our way through things.
But unfortunately, when our health and well-being is the thing we're half-assing, the results can be disastrous.
It's even worse that we often "say" we feel good, when in reality we don't -- and even if we wanted to find our health "sticking points", we wouldn't know what to look for.
This is compounded by the fact that humans inherently want to look and "sound" good to others.
So when a health researcher or even a friend says "what did you eat today" or "how's that new diet going?", we're much more likely to lie or stretch the truth, rather than be 100% honest.
The good thing is, the facts don't lie.
There are hundreds of research studies that prove that most people aren't doing too well when it comes to filtering out these toxins.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), for example, has mentioned that people they tested in one study found dozens of carcinogenic compounds swimming around in their bloodstream.
They estimated our bodily environment to be 100 times more toxic than in our grandparent's time.

How to Keep Kids Safe Around Hot Tubs | Swim Spas TX
Whether you’re dreaming of installing a hot tub or there’s already a home swim spa in your beautiful backyard, you’re probably envisioning hours of family fun. While bonding for all ages is a fantastic home spa benefit, water safety always comes first.
So how can you keep your kids safe in a hot tub?
We’ve broken down the best tips and tricks for hot tub safety. With a little due diligence, simple mindfulness, and small investments, your children will remain safe around every home swim spa.
Rules of thumb
No child below the age of five should be playing in your hot tub. If they’re too small to stand up, they’re at high risk for drowning. Children should always be supervised by an adult in any type of water no matter their age.
Because children have thinner skin, they’re unable to dissipate heat at the same rate as adults and therefore are at a higher risk of overheating. If you’ve got young ones in the tub, never raise the temperature above 104 degrees. 98 -104 degrees is ideal.
And remember to be mindful of your child’s reactions to the hot tub. Increased body temperature can lead to drowsiness, unconsciousness, and ultimately drowning or fatal heat strokes. If you notice a child feeling ill, dizzy, or sleepy, remove them from the spa or hot tub immediately.
Keep it short
If your hot tub is set to 104 degrees, limit your child’s swim time to five minutes. For a longer dip, lower the temperature to 98 degrees and pull them out after fifteen minutes.
Hydration Is Key
Swimming in hot temperatures can quickly dehydrate children and adults alike. Keep water bottles close to the tub and remind everyone to keep sipping.
Don’t go all in
Because they’re smaller and at a higher risk for slipping beneath the surface, or simply overheating due to full-body immersion, keep kids’ waist above the water. Try using “jump seats” to keep them waist-high.
Avoid suction
A less obvious hazard, most parents underestimate the power of spa suctions. Powerful suctions can pull children in by their hair, especially if they’re playing fully submerged (another reason to keep them waist-deep!).
Use CPSC-developed drain covers to reduce the risk of suction injury. Always ensure covers are in place and lower the suction levels when children are splashing around.
Keep it covered
On that note…keep the top covered with a heavy, child-proof cover. Whenever the tub is not in use, make sure the top is covered with a safety lock securely in place.
It’s true that hot tubs are safer than full-sized pools because they’re above ground and therefore more difficult for children to accidentally slip into. However, we recommend surrounding your hot tub by a four-foot-high fence just as you would a full-size swimming pool. Additionally, include a self-latching gate or door to ensure children can’t easily sneak through.
Maintenance is key
If you can smell the chemicals in your hot tub, you’ve got a maintenance problem. Strong odor indicates a chemical imbalance that can be especially toxic for kids. Use hot tub disinfectant test strips found at home improvement and pool supply stores to frequently check the pH levels.
Also, consider having a professional check your spa every so often for peace of mind. Drain covers should be properly in place without cracks or holes, water should be kept sanitized yet not overly-chlorinated, and temperature should be monitored frequently to ensure safe swimming.
Related Questions
Is it safe for my infant in the swim spa?
Even if you’re holding them the entire time, babies and infants have skin so thin that bathing in hot tub temperatures is not recommended. Keep your infants dry and stick to kiddie pools.
What if I’m pregnant?
Always consult your doctor before hot tub use. Together you can decide what temperature and duration is best for you and your baby.
Extra safety tips
Before every session in or around a hot tub, assign a “water watcher” in charge of monitoring the swim spa. If someone is assigned to supervise your children at all times, the risk of injury decreases dramatically.
Secondly, if your spa sits uncovered, remove all toys and colorful objects that may be floating on the surface. These objects lure children into the waters with potentially fatal results.
Summary
There’s more to be mindful of than constant supervision (although supervision is essential!) when you’ve got kids in swimmies and goggles splashing around. By following a few precautions, spa-related injuries are 100% preventable. Safety awareness will make your hot tub use more enjoyable and give you peace of mind!

Hair Care Tips For Healthy Locks And Fabulous Looks

Have you been frustrated by how your hair looks? Will it look like your hair is always unmanageable no matter what you attempt? Keep reading to help you quit fearing your follicles! This information is packed with information and tips for having the best styles and treatments for your hair dilemmas. Click here for more advice
If your conditioner doesn't maintain your hair as soft because it should, consider using a leave-in conditioner as well. An effective leave-in conditioner does apply right from the shower and may give hair the moisture it craves. You can even consider a deep conditioning treatment.
For anyone with curly hair, nix SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) out of your hair care routine, for bouncy, care-free curls. SLS is a harsh stripping agent that robs your hair of essential oils. This produces the illusion of frizz and encourages breakage. It is possible to spot this substance by checking the constituents of your respective products.
If you are planning to be swimming within a chlorinated pool, you should make sure you wear a cap when swimming to shield it. Should you not have got a cap, ensure you wash and condition your hair as soon as possible, afterward, so that you can protect it from your damage that chlorine causes.
When you are washing the hair, practice it by two separate steps. Take half the shampoo you would typically use for your whole head and wash your roots with that. Rinse that out and after that use some more shampoo to wash your hair shafts. This system makes sure that you wash every one of the hair and not simply your roots.
Stay away from plastic combs and brushes that induce extra static electricity within your hair that may cause your hair to look dull and lifeless, along with, having fly-aways. You can find brushes that one could buy that are made of many other materials, for example, animal fibers that will provide you with less static electricity.
When you are searching for good hair care products, search for those that have natural ingredients. Furthermore, you should look for shampoos and conditioners which are appropriate for your unique hair type. Tend not to be scared to explore different products and brands while you search for the formulation that works well best together with your hair type.
As soon as your hair is wet, it is in a condition the location where the most damage might be caused by it. That is why you need to avoid combing or brushing hair after it is wet. You need to dry the hair thoroughly and then, comb or brush it to smooth it down.
For those who have dandruff, use a light shampoo. Wash your hair as much as you can and make sure that you massage your scalp. If this is not going to work, get an anti-dandruff shampoo. You should also seek out improper habits you need to get eliminate, for example, not getting enough sleep.
Combing and brushing the hair will stimulate hair growth by breaking apart any loose skin on the scalp. It can also unclog any blocked pores that are preventing hair from growing. Brush hair with 100 stokes every day to stimulate your scalp.
Hair products that you apply to make the hair look nice could be doing more damage than you imagine. While you choose your merchandise, avoid the ones that contain any alcohol. The alcohol will dry your hair out quickly. These products may also dry up your scalp, so avoid any contact with the scalp.
When shampooing, pay close attention so that you can avoid removing all the beneficial natural oils on the scalp. Though you could have naturally oily hair, applying harsh shampoos that strip oils away may the truth is promoted additional oiliness. Work with a gentle shampoo that will clean your hair but not strip the oils. To become about the safe side, it is possible to forgo using shampoo altogether and simply use conditioner.
Avoid very hot water when washing your hair. Lukewarm water is okay, and cold water is much better when you can tolerate it. Boiling water dries out your hair and will irritate the scalp. In case you are accustomed to a steaming hot shower, work with a shower cap and wash the hair separately.
Dealing with your hair from the inside out is the easiest method to get the look that you want through the day. Ensure that you drink and consume a lot of fruit and vegetables, which can be loaded with antioxidants. These types of food will help reduce toxins in your body, yielding a wholesome scalp.
You shouldn't wash hair every day. When you wash hair, you eliminate precious oils making it more prone to be damaged. Most hairstylists advise that you simply clean your hair every couple of days, at the most, as well as less frequently should you not have oily hair.
If you worry about your hair, watch your stress threshold. Stress can trigger a disease generally known as telogen effluvium, causing hair to drop out. The condition is normally temporary, usually dissipates as your stress threshold falls. It might occur many times in your own life, though, and also in rare cases, the loss is permanent.
Avoid cotton pillowcases. Cotton pillowcases may cause your hair damage through the night whenever you toss and turn. The hair catches around the cotton and breaks and splits. You can test wearing a silk or satin head wrap on your head while you are sleeping at nighttime to shield hair from damage.
To detangle your hair within the shower, you need to start if you have your conditioner inside and commence dealing with your hair from your bottom up with your fingers. Usually do not work with a comb to get this done initially, to help you minimize any damage that you might incur as a result.
As you now have read this article, you will no longer need to worry about bad hair days. It might be hard to achieve great hair, but while you now know, it is possible. Apply a number of the advice you possess learned here to discover satisfaction with your hair care routine!

Pool Services Prices Las Vegas - Pool Maintenance 101
If you have a pool, pool maintenance is an absolute requirement. Neglected pools are quick to become what’s known as “frog ponds” — pools fraught with algae buildup, mosquito nests, and other health and aesthetic issues. Fortunately, proper pool maintenance is relatively easy when you keep a regular schedule.
· Skimming –The first step in any pool maintenance routine is skimming the pool. A skimmer is a fine mesh net attached to a long pole. It’s used to remove floating debris such as leaves and drowned insects. If left untended, debris will clog your filters and/or sink to the bottom of the pool where it can leave unsightly stains. Debris can also decrease the efficiency of your pool’s circulation system. Skim your pool at least once every few days. Also, remove, dump and clean out your pool’s strainer baskets once a week.
· Vacuuming –A skimmer can’t get everything. Even with routine skimming, fine particles like dust and dirt eventually sink and settle to the bottom of the pool. That’s why your pool needs regular vacuuming. There are two kinds of pool vacuums: automatic and manual. Automatic vacuums run along the bottom of the pool and generate suction in random patterns; manual vacuums attach to a long pole that allows you to steer the suction yourself. When using an automatic vacuum, be sure to overlap your passes to ensure that you’re getting all of the fine debris. If you have a large pool, vacuum in sections. Vacuum your pool once a week.
· Brushing –Brushing keeps the walls of your pool clean. The kind of brush you’ll need will depend on the material of your pool’s walls. Plaster-lined concrete walls benefit from a stiff-bristled brush while vinyl, tile and fiberglass walls require a soft-bristled brush. For stubborn buildup, use a pumice stone, a putty-knife, or a 50/50 mix of water and muriatic acid (be sure to wear gloves and eye protection). Brush your pool once a week before vacuuming. Brushing will loosen particles for the vacuum to pick up.
· Cleaning Filters – Filters come in three types: sand, cartridge and diatomaceous earth (DE). Each type has unique cleaning requirements. Sand filters must be “backwashed” and treated with a special sand-cleaning chemical. Cartridge filters are removed and sprayed with a garden hose. DE filters are backwashed like sand filters, but more DE must be added. The advantage of DE filters is that they trap much smaller particles.
· Pool Heater Maintenance – The typical pool heater can go at least a few years before it needs servicing. Sometimes, calcium and other minerals build up in the heater’s tubes, restricting its operation. When this happens, it’s best to hire a professional to disassemble and repair the heater.
· Water Level – A pool can lose water both through natural evaporation and from people splashing and getting in and out of the pool. Check the water level every time you skim the pool and clean the baskets. Water levels should not be allowed to fall below the the skimmer basket intake tubes. This can ruin the pump. If the water is low, use a garden hose to fill the pool to the appropriate level.
· Maintaining pH – Your pool water’s PH level determines its acidity and alkalinity. A certain level of acidity must be maintained in your pool. A pH level of 7 is considered ideal; less than 7 is considered too acidic. Acidic water can damage your pool liner, your pool equipment and even your skin. Water that is too alkaline can clog filters and cloud the water — and it can cause your eyes and nose to burn and cause dry and itchy skin. A simple home testing kit can verify the acidity or alkalinity of your pool water. Add chemicals according to instructions to neutralize your pool water.
· Shocking the Pool – Over time, organic contaminants such as ammonia and nitrogen can build up in a pool. These contaminants interact with the pool’s chlorine to form chloramines, which create a chlorine-like odor that emanates from the pool. Adding more chlorine can remedy this situation. This is known as “shocking” the pool. Some pool owners shock their pools as frequently as once a week; others go longer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure that you’re adding the proper amount of chlorine to address your situation.
· Leak Detection – If you have to add water frequently, you may have a leak. Detecting a leak is simple. Fill a plastic bucket three-quarters of the way and mark the water line on the inside. Float it in your pool or set it on the steps and mark the waterline on the outside of the bucket. After two to three days, compare the water lines. If the amount lost is the same, you’re losing water to evaporation. If there is a disparity between the bucket line and the interior water line, you have a leak. You will need to call a professional for the repair.
· Winterizing – If you live in a freezing climate, you will have to winterize your pool. This entails removing water from the pool’s plumbing with an air compressor and draining as much as you can from the filter and the heater. Remove any remaining water with a special antifreeze designed for pools. (Car antifreeze is a different product altogether.) Disconnect the heater, the pump and any chemical feeders. Clean and store the chemical feeders for the winter. Then give the pool a good cleaning. Close the skimmer valves and lower the water level to about 18 inches below the pool’s edge. This will allow any expansion from freezing some room to grow without putting pressure on your pool liner. Finally, shock the pool and cover it to prevent incoming debris.
· Reopening – When swimming season comes around again, clear the area around the pool of debris. Refill the pool to its normal level and open the skimmer valve to get the water circulating. Test the water’s pH and shock the pool. Turn on the pump and leave it running 24 hours a day. Decrease this time by one hour each day until the water is balanced. Your pool is now open for fun!
If you can't maintain your pool, hire a pool maintenance service. Pool services will handle everything from regular treatments to closing and opening your pool for the seasons. Most pool maintenance services cost about $75 to $100 per hour. Some services may cost extra.

DIY Pool Maintenance – What Is the Cost?
The majority of pool maintenance projects can be completed DIY. All it takes is the right materials and the ability to follow simple written directions.
· Skimmer –A skimmer is a shallow net attached to a long, light pole. It’s used to skim debris from the water’s surface. How long this takes depends on the size of the pool and the amount of debris present, but it usually takes about 20 minutes to skim an average-sized pool. You should skim your pool once every day or two. Unskimmed debris can sink to the bottom of the pool and adhere to or permanently stain the pool liner. A skimmer costs around $7.
· Chlorine –Chlorine is a necessity for every swimming pool. Chlorine is used to neutralize harmful bacteria. It is available in liquid and tablet form, and it can be added as part of a routine maintenance program or inserted into floating, time-release dispensers. A 25-pound container of 3-inch tablets Chlorine tablets costs about $60 to $70. A two-gallon container of liquid chlorine costs about $7.50.
· Muriatic Acid –Muriatic acid is used to lower the pH levels of your pool. It prevents bacteria blooms, fights mineral buildup and generally helps to keep your pool clean. Too much acid can damage your pool and cause your eyes, nose and skin to sting. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for adding acid to your pool. Muriatic acid costs about $7.70 per gallon.
· Soda Ash –Sodium bicarbonate, also known as soda ash, is used to combat excess acid. Soda ash will raise the pH level in your pool by neutralizing some of the more harmful effects of muriatic acid. Too much soda ash, however, will allow bacteria to thrive in your pool and encourage mineral buildup to clog your plumbing. A 6-pound container of soda ash costs about $8.
· Testing Kit –A basic testing kit is a must for every pool owner. With a kit, you can gauge your pH levels by taking a small water sample and adding certain chemicals to the solution. Most kits test for chlorine, bromide, alkalinity and acidity. Test kits cost about $15. Keep in mind that testing solutions must be periodically replaced. A full set of replacement solutions costs around $8.
· Pool Vacuum –A skimmer will not pick up the finer particles that get into your pool, so a pool vacuum is also necessary. A pool vacuum will roll along the bottom of the pool and suck up small debris. Vacuums can run as low as $20 for a basic manual vacuum to as high as $200 to $600 for a robotic or automatic vacuum.
· Filters –Replacement filter cartridges are priced based on their size and capacity. A basic two-pack of 4.25-inch cartridges can cost about $13, but a single 10-inch, higher-end filter can cost as much as $75. Sand should be replaced in sand filters every three years. A 50-pound container of sand filter costs about $12. Diatomaceous earth for pool filtering costs about $20 for a 25-pound bag.
· Pool Cover –A pool cover is necessary for safety, and it also keeps debris out of your pool when you aren’t using it. Though expensive, covers protect your pool and save you money in the longer term. A good cover will extend about two feet beyond the edge of your pool edge (a 16’x38’ pool would need an 18’x40’ cover, for example). A good cover generally costs about $580.00.
Maintaining your pool yourself will take less than two hours if so long as you do it regularly. Routine maintenance not only keeps your pool clean for use, but it also allows you to spot problems early on — before they become big, costly repairs. Spending a few dollars in treatment chemicals, for example, will prevent you from having to a hire a professional to clean a “frog pond” pool to the tune of $55 to $124 an hour.
Common Pool Repairs
No matter how well you maintain your pool, it’s going to need repairs from time to time. When this happens, it’s best to call a professional. Leaving pool repairs up to professionals helps keep simple repairs from snowballing into major catastrophes.
Pump Motor
The pool component most commonly in need of repair is the pump motor. Apart from the cover, the pump affects every aspect of your pool. It is the system with the most moving parts and is thus the most prone to failure. When the pump motor fails, water can’t circulate, heat or filter. Check your pump motor regularly and address problems as early as possible. The cost to repair a pump depends on what has failed. Replacing the pump motor altogether can run from $185 for a .75hp motor to $350 for a 2.5hp motor.
Pool Filter
If you maintain your filter, you probably won’t have to worry much about replacing the cartridges. But if your filter requires increasingly frequent cleaning, it’s probably trapping oils that will be difficult to remove. A properly sized cartridge should go three to five weeks before needing a cleaning. A new cartridge costs between $13 and $75, depending on its size.
Sand filters are equipped with a pressure gauge. If the pressure in your pool gets too high, your filter isn’t working properly. And if the pressure is too great, it can cause a catastrophic failure and can cause the tank to rupture. If the pressure is fine but your pool requires increasingly frequent cleaning, you may need to replace the sand in the filter. New sand particles are particularly rough, which helps them trap particles. Over time, the water can wear them smooth and reduce their efficiency. Sand costs about $12 a bag. Replacing a sand filter system costs from $150 to over $500.
A diatomaceous earth (DE) filter may fail similarly to a sand filter. Further, failing DE filters can pump DE powder back into your pool. In this case, a professional can tell you whether you need to replace an o-ring or address a failing valve. Stainless steel tanks can also spring pinhole leaks over time. When this happens, the tank should be replaced (any patches will be temporary). Replacing a DE filter system costs around $600 to $700.
Leaks
Determining whether you have a leak is relatively easy when compared to actually fixing a leak. A pool repair professional can help you determine whether the leak starts at the filter or in the pool itself. You can patch a vinyl liner for as little as $20.00 with a DIY patch kit, or you can hire a professional to do the job for around $200. A fiberglass liner should be repaired by a professional. This typically costs around $200-300. Concrete or gunite pools usually need to be drained and sanded to be properly repaired. This can cost from $800 to $1,550.
Heater and Heating Tubes
As water courses through the heating tubes and back out into your pool, minerals build up in tubes and create blockages. Also, insects crawl in and around the system and can affect the functions of the various smaller systems of your heater. The average cost to repair a pool heater is around $394. However, left unattended, a pool heater repair can easily climb to $1,200. We do not recommend that you attePool Maintenance McCarran Handyman Services to repair a pool heater on your own.
If you need professional help, contact a swimming pool pro.
In Conclusion
Many people welcome a swimming pool despite the associated routine maintenance costs. With regular cleaning and maintenance, a pool is a great recreation feature that will provide years of enjoyment.

Pool Services Prices Omaha - Pool Maintenance 101
When this happens, it’s Local to hire a professional to disassemble and repair the heater.

When this happens, it’s Local to call a professional.
We do not recommend that you attePool Maintenance Eppley Handyman Services to repair a pool heater on your own.

However, left unattended, a pool heater repair can easily climb to $1,200. We do not recommend that you attePool Maintenance Lincoln Handyman Services to repair a pool heater on your own.

Skimming –The first step in any pool maintenance routine is skimming the pool.
Vacuuming –A skimmer can’t get everything.
Brushing –Brushing keeps the walls of your pool clean.
Cleaning Filters – Filters come in three types: sand, cartridge and diatomaceous earth (DE).
Pool Heater Maintenance – The typical pool heater can go at least a few years before it needs servicing. Sometimes, calcium and other minerals build up in the heater’s tubes, restricting its operation. When this happens, it’s Affordable to hire a professional to disassemble and repair the heater.
Water Level – A pool can lose water both through natural evaporation and from people splashing and getting in and out of the pool. Check the water level every time you skim the pool and clean the baskets. Water levels should not be allowed to fall below the the skimmer basket intake tubes. This can ruin the pump. If the water is low, use a garden hose to fill the pool to the appropriate level.
Maintaining pH – Your pool water’s PH level determines its acidity and alkalinity.
Shocking the Pool – Over time, organic contaminants such as ammonia and nitrogen can build up in a pool.
Leak Detection – If you have to add water frequently, you may have a leak.
Winterizing – If you live in a freezing climate, you will have to winterize your pool.
Reopening – When swimming season comes around again, clear the area around the pool of debris.

Skimmer –A skimmer is a shallow net attached to a long, light pole.
Chlorine –Chlorine is a necessity for every swimming pool.
Muriatic Acid –Muriatic acid is used to lower the pH levels of your pool.
Soda Ash –Sodium bicarbonate, also known as soda ash, is used to combat excess acid.
Testing Kit –A basic testing kit is a must for every pool owner.
Pool Vacuum –A skimmer will not pick up the finer particles that get into your pool, so a pool vacuum is also necessary. A pool vacuum will roll along the bottom of the pool and suck up small debris. Vacuums can run as low as $20 for a basic manual vacuum to as high as $200 to $600 for a robotic or automatic vacuum.
Filters –Replacement filter cartridges are priced based on their size and capacity.
Pool Cover –A pool cover is necessary for safety, and it also keeps debris out of your pool when you aren’t using it.
When this happens, it’s Affordable to call a professional.
We do not recommend that you attePool Maintenance Service-Vegas to repair a pool heater on your own.
