Ooh! Yuuko confirming reincarnation is canonically real in this universe. 

WHICH, like, is not technically a surprise, especially since they’ve done so in other works (like Wish, which is in the same canon as xxxHolic), but it's NICE to have another little thread of knowledge about the universe works behind Tsubasa. And it very much ties into all the Hindu/Buddhistideas that are threaded through it all. 

And it’s so endlessly fascinating that ‘clones’ or ‘manmade people’ are technically excluded from the whole samsara idea that other souls go through, so even if Yuuko and Clow can pay for their rebirth it still won’t be the same process with the usual effects. It’s just a very fun series of ideas that Clamp are working through it all. 

On the plus side! Sakura has lost her memories so many times already it’s satisfying on a plot level that actually this time she gets to keep them.

I suppose it depends on if they’re being ‘rebirthed’ in the past and will live back towards this moment again, or if they will be reborn in the present (or maybe even the future) and will time travel back to this moment for other reasons. It is so, so important to me that people understand that Tim didn't figure out the bats because Dick was a "Show off". Like yes, Dick Grayson is the most flamboyant, dramatic ass man you will ever meet.

But the quadruple somersault? There's no way that was because dick was just showing off. Because you're telling me Bruce Wayne, who's so committed to hiding his identity that he literally acts like a completely different person out of the mask in public just to ward suspicion, would miss the fact that Robin regularly uses the flying Grayson's trademark move? There's literally no way.

In the comics we see Tim explain his deductive process to Dick and Alfred and they're both surprised impressed whatever. We don't see him explain it to Bruce. I think Bruce would be surprised and shocked that a 9 year old was able to put the pieces together but I don't think he'd be surprised that the quadruple somersault gave it away.

So if Bruce was possibly aware of such an obvious give away, why let it continue?

I'll tell you why.

It really comes down to the physics

So Dick was 9 when he started out right? That means the most he'd have likely weighed was 43kgs or roughly 95lbs in freedom units.

But Dick and both of his parents are gymnasts who tend to be smaller. So he was likely less than that.

In physics, rotating objects build up angular momentum (this is how bikes stay up right for example). The more rotation, the more momentum. And objects with less mass build up that momentum much faster than those that are heavier.

Robin constantly has to fight people who are nearly 3 times his size. I teach 8 year olds, they're tiny. A quadruple somersault for a small boy that weighs less than a hundred pounds is a brutal weapon. Especially if you add in the acceleration from gravity as he drops in from above.

And I can guarantee you this logic tracks because Dick literally utilizes this idea, without the somersault, in the 2009 teen titans cartoon.

Like it is borderline savage. Add in a quadruple somersault and the resulting force is nearly fatal. It's likely the main reason Batman would ever allow him to do it with the cape on.

Also, Dick landing feet first on the penguin in the first image probably gave the guy severe back issues

Machete is so easily grossed out by so many things and a lot of people think snails are nasty and slimy. I thought it would be a fun inversion of expectations if he happened to secretly like them.

I surmise he has a fondness for snails for the same reasons he doesn't feel comfortable around horses. Snails are tiny, extremely predictable, silent and nonthreatening.

now I'm curious as to how the Theraprism would actually attempt to help/treat Aku, since he is, unlike most of their patients, literally made of pure evil

characters that are literally ontologically evil are fascinating to me. like, how they function psychologically. especially when we get a character like aku who's clearly much more a person than an abstract concept, and yet is Made Of Evil.

but i'm not here to write that essay, i'm here to make jokes. They probably treat him something like this.

when you're in a villain rehabilitation program in what's called the dimensional tyrant ward, it takes a lot to be one of the patients that the staff calls "a menace," but somehow i think aku and bill could manage. Nobody should teach these two how to weaponize therapyspeak.

but like—listen, I'm of the opinion that the Theraprism is incompetent and ineffective. I'm leery of the credentials of any psychiatric hospital that uses solitary confinement & sensory deprivation as a punishment. But I also think that if a crappy but well-intended hospital has hold of an immortal patient for long enough, eventually they might get something right.

I'm also of the opinion that after several thousand years, Aku is no longer 100% pure evil, but instead 90% evil/10% just some guy.

and he also can't help but wonder, as he remembers all those times Orion ignored what he said and involved him in his crazy schemes with no regard for what he thought about it, if it's just in the nature of Primes to do as they wish without considering what it means for everyone else.

The thing that gets to me with Old Man E-Soul is just how badly Mighty Glory screwed him over every step of the way.

Like, first you've got their shit show of a marketing strategy: They take this dude who's entire image comes from accessibility and heroism- he's the man who's on the ground working and anyone could be him so long as they're brave and do the right thing- and lock him away from crime fighting and make all his products completely unaffordable for most people. Then they stick him in press tours and advertising exclusively despite him being bad at public speaking and having no interest in doing it in the first place.

So then a new guy comes along and fills all the niches E-Soul used to while also being a young, pretty boy and takes some of that audience, and what do they do? A) Adjust their own marketing strategy in order to actually play to E-Soul’s strengths or B) try and work with the new guy? Nah, they go for C) dox the new guy, try and frame him for crimes that their own fucking boss was responsible for (covering up for him), hit him with a copyright strike (even though it goes against the spirit of "anyone can be E-Soul") against E-Soul’s wishes, and put the new guy in position where if he budges on any of their demands, it will look like he's admitting to the crime and the dude who actually did it will get away. And then when they lose the legal case- cuz of course they would, the new guy actually had recites- they just end up making E-Soul look like a jackass.

And then the final nail in the coffin is how they handled Shang Chao's murder. Child of a former manager of their own company/ current manager of a rival company, and known friend of the new guy gets shot and what do they say/do? Absolutely fucking nothing. No public announcement, no investigation, doesn't even try and de-escalate the conflict with the new guy after he accuses E-Soul of murder. Also, pretty weird of blonde manager to insist that showing up to the death fight was absolutely mandatory for clearing E-Soul’s name 🤨🤨🤨. You'd think a guy as publicly known as E-Soul would have an alibi 🤨🤨🤨

But ya, tldr- Rock can eat shit and die, idk if the manager was directly in leagues with Rock or not but fuck him either way, and I think OG E-Soul would've been better off and happier if he did community service work when he wasn't fighting crime. Free my man- he was a real ass hero, not an idol.
