dear mutuals, friends/followers, and other assorted enablers:
please send me what you would consider the most frequent SPECIFIC complaints you see people use wrt RHATO, in particular anything you, who may or may not have read it, would like to see analyzed for either challenged or have some kind of more tangible supporting evidence for why you are "objectively" correct.
I.E. "Lobdell sucks" not useful or specific
"Everyone is mischaracterized!" Closer but I need you to be more specific than that. How are they mischaravterized, can you give me an exact complaint (i.e. Kori being an airhead bimbo. Obviously, this is already on my list)
"Jason shouldn't be the leader because the other two have more experience than that snotty punk!" NOW we're cooking with gas. This is a tangible, specific complaint that I can (and will) respond to one way or the other with actual tangible discussion & citation.
*additionally I will accept things directed towards Red Hood/Arsenal
**this is specifically aimed at N52 RHATO, if you would like me to do one for Rebirth I can look into it, but it would have to be a separate post. (Post-series? I have no idea how long this will get.)
EDIT: First post here. Second one Here. The Third one.
#I'm tired of generic “rhato sucks” mantras let's actually talk about it for once.#WHY does it suck?#And is there any merit to literally any part of this cluster fuck?#I'm not tagging this either you see & contribute via following me or finding this post via the jank search feature#Actually you know what I will tag?#Jayroy#Joyfire#Jaykori#This one's for us.#I'm going to make this sacrifice for all of us and delve into the darkest depths.#I turned my asks back on for this in case anyone doesn't want to risk some weird prick getting on them abt this

So you said that, in terms of their past actions, that Namine is the darkest character out of the three Kairis because of what the organization forced her to do. So would you say that Kairi is the lightest and Xion lies somewhere in the middle? Sorry if I'm misquoting or misunderstanding your original post.
Yes, I would.
But to be clear... it’s not just because the Organization made her do some awful stuff--because that really isn’t her fault--but sort of her selfishness, in that she would have wanted that even without them... and just sort of wanting things she maybe rightfully shouldn’t in general.Â
Also, her somewhat being weaker than some of the other characters in this series are, in her doing bad things to protect her own well-being. Which, to be honest, probably isn’t fair of me to hold that against her. Because I’m sure most of us (including me) in the real world wouldn’t be able to withstand anything like torture and would do the same thing... but when you compare her to other characters in the series who can and do withstand being hurt for others, or who sacrifice themselves for them (and to be fair, she does finally get there in CoM)... it sort of makes her standout when she doesn’t.Â
And I don’t think it’s an accident that it takes her a while to finally stand up to Organization XIII--when Kairi, from the get-go, was only worried about Sora’s safety and not her own when they imprisoned her--and that it was only in seeing Kairi about to get into a fistfight with SaĂŻx, that she seemed to realize she could do the same thing. I think this is part of the reason she feels inferior to Kairi and thinks she shines brighter than she does, and that she can never reach her (this is novel speech, but I got this feeling from her in the games, too), or whatever.Â
Also... NaminĂ©? What the heck was that speech about you not knowing if the Organization is bad or good, after the things that they did?!Â
I could get into all of this more, but I won’t. I don’t know if this is a can of worms I really want to open right now.Â
But I do think there’s some darkness and selfishness to Naminé--that’s part of her character, even after CoM some--that the fandom largely ignores to see her as a perfect angel (but the few times they do choose to delve into her darkness, in usually creates some great stuff)--when in reality, this about her makes her a more interesting character! ...Especially when without it... as much as I love my KH ladies, you can pretty much summarize all of them up with “nice girl”.
Edit: And to be clear, I realize there are also times she’s completely selfless. Maybe even moreso. But I think Naminé maybe has some of that “the human heart in conflict with itself”, that George R.R. Martin always talks about wanting in his characters or characters in general, stuff going on for her sometimes.
