needle & nerve | e. kirishima
he came in for a piercing. what he didnât expect was the artist behind the glovesâsharp-eyed, quick-witted, and maybe his new favorite reason to come back. (987 words)
your shop sat just off the main streetâhalf tattoo studio, half piercing parlor, with walls that held a little bit of grit and a whole lot of story. incense burned low in the corner, masking the sharp scent of disinfectant, and the constant hum of fluorescent lights buzzed beneath the soft thud of bass-heavy music filtering in from the back room. framed flash sheets covered the walls, inked with dragons, snakes, roses, and teeth. some were faded from sun, some fresh, some yours. all of them meant something to someone.
you leaned over the front desk, chin in your palm, scrolling idly through a list of upcoming appointments when the door chimed. you didn't look up right awayâit wasn't rare to get walk-insâbut something about the shift in the room made your hand pause over the mouse.
he stepped inside like he wasnât sure how loud to be. tall, square-shouldered, all muscle and nervous momentum. red hair pulled back in a headband that didnât quite tame it, and eyesâbright, dark-lashed, darting around the space like they were trying to memorize it before it could change.
"uhâhi," he said. his voice cracked slightly on the first syllable, too loud for the low hum of the shop. "iâve got an appointment?"
you looked up and found a boy who seemed more like a mountain in training. his cheeks flushed deeper when your gaze caught him.
"eyebrow at three?"
"yeah." he nodded, breath like it had been held since the sidewalk. "thatâs me."
"cool. iâm your piercer today," you said, stepping out from behind the desk and gesturing toward the back. "iâm y/n."
he blinked, then smiled like he hadnât expected introductions to be part of this. "eijiro. kirishima eijiro."
you gave him a nod and a smirk. "nice to meet you, eijiro. letâs make you bleed a little."
he trailed behind as you led him through the studio, past tattoo chairs draped in black leather and chrome trays lined with freshly sterilized tools. his eyes lingered on the art pinned above each station, pausing longer at a piece you'd done last weekâthree snakes coiled through the jaw of a skull.
"first piercing?" you asked, tugging on gloves.
"yeah." he scratched the back of his neck, sheepish. "figured it was time. always thought about it but... i dunno. guess i needed a push."
"itâs a good pick," you said, voice easy, hands already arranging your tray. "subtle. sharp. very you."
he blinked, then smiled. "you donât even know me."
"donât need to. i read people."
he laughed, louder this time. "and what do i read like?"
"someone who talks a big game and still gets nervous walking into places like this."
he opened his mouth, then closed it with a grin. "fair enough."
you motioned to the chair. "youâll feel a quick pinch and then a little pressure. itâs not that bad. just donât flinch."
"i wonât. promise." he slid into the chair like it was a test. his hands settled in his lap, though you could see the way he kept flexing his fingers.
you moved around him with steady precision. sterilized clamp. single-use needle in its packaging. mirror nearby. you sprayed his brow with antiseptic and caught his flinch out of the corner of your eyeânot from pain, but from cold.
he glanced at you. "you do tattoos too?"
"yep. mostly blackwork. fine line, sometimes flash. i draw all my own sheets."
"that snake piece on the way inâthat was yours?"
you nodded. "you've got a good eye."
he flushed again, red creeping across his ears now. "guess iâm just a fan of good linework."
you leaned in close, brushing his hair from his temple. his skin was warm under your gloves. close like this, he smelled like clean laundry and just a little sweat, like maybe heâd psyched himself up before walking through the door.
"keep your head still. iâm gonna mark you."
you felt his breath hitch as you pressed the pen lightly to his skin. you could feel the tension in his shouldersânot fear, exactly. more like anticipation wound tight beneath muscle.
"you alright?"
he nodded. "just thinking."
"about what?"
"if this actually makes me cooler or if iâll just look like i lost a bet."
you smiled. "only one way to find out."
you lined the clamp up gently. "deep breath in."
he inhaled, and you pierced through his skin.
a second passed. then two.
you pulled the needle through, swapped it for the jewelry, and clipped the hoop into place. he didnât move, not even when you wiped away the smallest dot of blood.
"thatâs it?" he blinked at you, like he expected to be bleeding out.
"thatâs it."
he touched the edge of the new ring, careful, like it might still sting.
"damn. kinda expected to cry or something."
"give it five hours. you might regret it."
he laughed and stood, slowly, adjusting to the sudden lightness in his posture.
you peeled your gloves off with a soft snap, tossed them in the bin, and reached for the aftercare sheet. when you turned back around, he was holding something in his hand.
a post-it. yellow. handwriting a little slanted, a little rushed.
he stuck it to the counter next to the tip jar. his number written in black ink on the paper.
"in case i want the other side done," he said casually. "or, you know, maybe a snake tattoo. or maybe coffee."
you tilted your head, one eyebrow raised. "you just hand out your number to everyone you meet under bright lights and sharp metal?"
he grinned, sheepish and bold all at once. "only when theyâre the prettiest person iâve ever met."
he waved over his shoulder, and the bell above the door chimed as he left, hair catching the light like a flame, and you were still staring at the post-it noteâstill smilingâwhen the door eased shut behind him.

Trafalgar law had never been one for chit chat. As a growing notorious pirate, you would think he'd be cold, guarded, always wary of his surroundings. Which he is, but one other thing about him, is that he takes his tattoos very seriously. Each holding a different emotional meaning. And you happened to be the one he'd chosen and relied one for his body art, you were very skilled, there was no denying that.
And each time he came for a tattoo, he'd end up confiding to you more and more, opening up to you about his past, his current life, ambitions, goals, so on. It took a few visits, but you two eventually broke the ice and became acquainted to eachother. He wasn't as unfriendly as the public made him out to be.

It's been a while since he last came in your shop now, and you found yourself unconsciously waiting for him. Each time the bell on the door rang, indicating someone came in, your ears would perk up, hoping it would be him, walking through that door. And unfortunately for you, it wasn't, every single time.
One evening, just as you were about to close, you heard the bell on the door ringing once again, signaling an entrance. You were at the back of the studio, doing whatever, cleaning up and so on, potentially preparing to leave.
" We're closing ! " You spoke out to whoever came in, far from the entrance, unaware it was the man you've been awaiting for so long.
" Shame, I was looking forward to the visit. "
Your heart fluttered, you knew this voice, far too well. Deep and husky.
You tossed everything aside, hurrying to the entrance, your face lighting up at the sight of him leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, with that same, small knowing smirk of his, cracking at the corners of his lips as he saw you.
"Law, you came!" You cheered, a smile plastered on your face. "How long has it been since I last saw you? gee."
"Sure did. Been a while, you missed me or something?" Pushing himself off the door-way, he chuckled, his tone cold and sarcastic, the way it's always been.
"Oh, quit it." You scoffed, feigning annoyance, hands resting on your hips as you led him to the chair, ignoring his remark, you did miss him, but you wouldn't actually tell him. "So, what are we getting today?"
"Nothing much, just a few touch ups here." He settled down on the chair, unbuttoning his shirt and easing it off his shoulders ever so casually, and gesturing to the areas he wanted fixed in the heart tattoo on his chest. You couldn't help but stare at his chiseled form for a while longer than necessary.
"Coming right up, captain." You threw the nickname at him jokingly, whilst preparing all the equipment and placing it on a table beside him. Sitting next to him, you began sterilizing and disinfecting the needle and tattoo gun.
"I told you to stop calling me that." He chuckled, arms crossed over his chest as he watched your every move with interest.
"It's just fun, the idea of you being my captain, isn't it?"
"Just law is fine." He insisted, preparing himself as you poured the ink into a disposable cap and sheathing your hands in gloves.
You brought your chair closer to him, reaching back and adjusting his so that it leaned back slightly, giving you more access to his chest.
You installed the needle into the tattoo gun, dipping it in the ink and eventually starting, one hand resting on the side of his chest, while another worked on touching up and defining his slightly faded tattoo.
He never flinced, never even complained once about the pain, which is normal, since it wasn't his first time. The silence was deafening for a moment, until you spoke up.
"So, Law. Heard you've got a higher bounty now."
"Tch, Tell me about it, just means more marines at your back, more attention." He complained, seemingly annoyed by the idea of it, though his voice remained calm and collected.
"I thought you'd be happy about it, just means your strength is more acknowledged."
"I don't need to prove myself to anyone, let alone the government." Law added, firmly.
And there was more silence, as you focused on the tattoo, but the position was quite awkward and difficult to work in. You pulled away, scooting to the edge of his chair instead.
"You mind if I get closer ?"
"Just do whatever to get it over with." Trafalgar looked up at you from his seat, he didn't mind you getting closer, but there was something he didn't see coming.
You climbed on the chair fully, straddling him and leaning down onto his chest, which was more accesible now, and easier to work with. You had to admit, this particular position ignited something in you, but you kept it professional.
Law, however, was completely rattled and thrown off by your move.
" Hey- I didn't say you could- " He muttered out a half-hearted protest, shamming embarassment, albeit, he liked it more than he let on. A warm feeling stirring inside him.
You looked up from his chest to face him, pausing his opposition.
"Hm? Is this uncomfortable?" You asked, innocently, as if you didn't throw him utterly off guard.
"N- No.. I guess." Law stuttered out under his breath, his gaze averting away from you, looking around the room to distract himself from any unnecessary thoughts. He knew his control would slip if he continued looking right at you.
And that most definitely didn't go unnoticed by you, you put your tattoo gun aside, leaning back.
"Hey, it's okay- I'll find a way to -"
Before you could finish, you felt a grip on your wrist, pulling you back. Fast.
"No- Stay." Trafalgar spoke in a hurry, his hand still on your wrist as if you'd disappear if he let go. But he quickly regretted it, eventually letting you slip away and looking away, a faint, rare blush creeping up on the sides of his cheeks.
"I mean. Do whatever." He quickly retracted himself, trying to fix his mistake and act unbothered.
You were familiar enough with Law to know that he was bothered, and he would never actually directly let you know what he really wanted. So you obliged, getting back between his legs.
"I'm almost done, just sit through it a bit longer, hm?" You gave him a reassuring smile, leaning back down and bringing your focus back on enhancing his tattoo, while he gave you a half-assed nod, trying deseperately to hide the urge gnawing at him to just hold you right there forever, and kiss you senseless. Something he'd wanted for a while.
You felt the same, but you didn't let your feelings creep onto your mind as you were working. You couldn't possibly disappoint him.
You sat there for a while longer, heart pounding in your chest as you worked, the only sound you could hear in the room along with the soft breaths coming out both of you, an usual interaction. You were both usually talkative when he came for a tattoo, but considering the situation, you didn't try forcing a conversation.
And so, you were eventually done, putting the gun aside and looking down at his now enhanced dark tattoo.
"There! Good as new."
"Thanks, you always get it just right." He gave you an approving nod as he admired the renovated art on his chest. Before speaking up again, his voice cold and deliberate. "About your payment."
"Hm? What payment, silly, you know I never charge y-"
Before you could finish your sentence, you felt his calloused hand on the back of your neck, another resting on your side as he pulled you down onto him, your chest against his as your lips pressed together in an unexpected kiss. One that felt almost hesitant at first.
You had no time to react, your hands resting on his chest, until you felt him pulling away, studying your face for any sign of discomfort or reluctance, but finding none. Only a surprised expression plastered on you. Eyes wide and lips slightly parted as you looked at him.
"Y/N, I've been holding back for too long."
Law spoke firmly, his fingers tangling in your hair as he pulled you for another kiss. This time, you didn't hesitate, kissing him back just as passionately, your head tilted at just the right angle. Your hands running up and down his chest. He let out a low, satisfied hum against your lips.
You smiled against his, before pulling away and catching your breath, he managed to elicite small pants from you in just one kiss. His sharp eyes piercing right through yours, a satisfied smirk curling up on the corners of his lips.
"I love you, Y/N." Trafalgar confessed, his fingers running through your hair smoothly.
"I guess you're always free of charge now." You chuckled, leaning down to press another soft, quick kiss to his lips.
"Will you be serious for once?" He rolled his eyes, feigning irritation, but deep inside, he enjoyed how carefree and playful you always were. You completed eachother, in a way.
"I love you too, captain."

đđąđȘđŻđđŠđŽđŽ, đȘđŽ đȘđ”?
You entered the lounge all finely dressed with your best clothes. The dim lights hid your nervous blush very well â you were about to meet your favorite after all, who could blame you?Â
The head waiter with their polite smile approached you and asked:
âYou wish to be seated with Draco correct?â
As you nodded they gently led you to your assigned table, him waiting for you while sipping a glass of his favourite alcoholic beverage.
Ready to start the night?
This was not the way you thought your night was gonna go.
You were supposed to be seated with one of the most mysterious members of the Diasomnia family, Malleus Draconia himself, drinking your gin spritz while the two of you chatted to your heartâs content. You were quite confused as to why, instead of a refined decorated and lively lounge, you were standing awkwardly in a corner of a small infirmary while Malleus stared expressionless at his own hand, pierced from side to side by a sharp dagger like Christ the Redeemer on the cross.
The scary part wasn't the dagger embedded with surgical precision in his palm, no, what made your skin crawl was the man's behavior in the face of such a wound. Calm, detached, unbothered as if the blade were like a squashed fly.
âThat looksâŠpainful.â you whispered, more to yourself than to him. Malleus looked at you like he didnât register your presence in the room before.
âI suppose it does.â he murmured, as if he didnât exactly know what to answer.
With every minute that the ticking clock on the wall marked off, the more you were forced to stare at that scene straight out of a splatter movie and the more your insides twisted. Malleus wasnât fazed or preoccupied in the slightest, patiently waiting for a nurse's arrival.Â
âMy apologies that you have to stay here instead of the main lounge. Iâm aware that this sight isâŠa great feat to stomach for the ones not used to this.â he said, tone calm and collected yet he wasnât looking you in the eyes, almost like he wanted to spare you the icy apatite gaze of his.
You didnât respond. How could you? He looked so calm unlike any normal person in a situation like his.
âLooks like the nurseâs clocked out for tonight.â Malleus said, trying to lighten up the mood with a not-so-funny joke. âSo it seems.â you replied, acknowledging the fact that a medical professionist was missing in a much needed situation.Â
âLooks like I'm going to have to make do. â he sighed â Can you pass me that sterilized cloth?â and looked at you, waiting for you to complete the task.
You looked around the room hastily, taking it all in for the first time. Concentrating on the strange and horrifying sight before you, you had paid little attention to your surroundings. The room with soft whites and baby blues was filled with any sort of utensil to aid with any kind of injury â gauze, plasters, disinfectants, painkillers but also forceps, scalpels and syringes of all sizes. By the way he talked Malleus didnât seem such a novice of that place and its equipment.
You handed him the cloth and backed into your safe corner like the dagger could bite you.Â
You watched Malleus roll up his sleeve, after having unbuttoned it at the wrist, carefully folding the fabric over his lap â as much as a person with only one mobile arm could. He looked used to doing that.
âCan IâŠCan I help you, somehow?â you asked, sheepish.Â
âYou donât have to if it makes you uncomfortable.â Malleus said, raising his good hand as if to stop you, but you were already gripping the hilt of the dagger.
âThere will be blood.â he deadpanned, trying to make you retract from drawing a dagger from his palm. His tone had the same calm as a drop sliding down a glass on a rainy day.Â
Your hands held the warm and unfamiliar hilt with all the unsteady and unprofessional grip of a person in your situation. Sweat ran cold across your skin as you glanced at his expression â he was far too tranquil, that same expression of clinical patience that doctors wear before telling a family the results of a risky operation.
You took a deep breath. âThis is going to hurt, okay?â you said quietly, tring to hold the shakiness in each word like he was more panicked than you.
Malleus slightly nodded.
You gripped tightly the hilt and pulled upwards, hearing the grotesque sound of the flesh and the light creaking of bones as the blade slipped from the wound. You were sure you were about to throw up in that exact moment if you only dared to open your eyes.
You squinted them open, careful. Malleus was cleaning his hand with that same unnatural calm, the white cloth slowly turning crimson. You heard the quiet drops hitting the floor, one by one, but didnât dare to look up at the dagger still in your trembling hands.Â
Malleus, even though he barely glanced at you, seemed to notice, reaching his good hand out and taking the sharp blade away from your hands. The movement was so fluid and relaxed that you almost didnât notice it.
âHow?â you croaked out. âHow can you be so calm, so unbothered? Others would have curled in pain, tremble with gritted teeth and tears in their eyes, but your face never once faltered with anguish.â
Malleus looked at you, brows knitted together like he knew you were going to ask.
âI donât feel any pain.â he said, quietly, as if it was a national secret that needed to be kept.
âYou donât?â
He shook his head. âNot even an ounce, Iâm afraid. My body seems almost incapable of sensing pain.â
âHow come?â
Malleus looked at you, his eyes softer, sadder like it ironically pained him to say those words.
âIâve felt such greater pain in my life, more than a person should ever know, to the point that this⊠â and raised his battered hand, the gash on the skin still a vicious red â âŠthis feels like nothing. Nothing at all.â
You stared at the gash on his palm, which ran from his middle finger almost to his wrist, and then back to him. In his eyes of that mystical sulfurous green that had seen who knows what horrors, more than you can imagine. Your heart clenched.
Somehow, you didnât doubt his words.
â Would you like a table? â Bullettin Board
Thank you so much anon for requesting. Hope you like it and enjoyed your time. I await your next patronage.
Signed - Boss

Series Masterlist
Chapter 1: _Express To Oblivion_
The walk from the stage to the Justice Building felt impossibly long, each shuffle of Y/n's injured ankle sending a jolt of pain up her leg. The air in the building was stifling, thick with the scent of cheap disinfectant and the metallic tang of fear.
She was led to a stark, cold room where a team of Capitol officials, their faces painted in garish colors, conducted a perfunctory examination. Her limp was noted with a dismissive glance, a tick in a box that labeled her "disadvantaged."
Her lack of family meant no tearful goodbyes, no whispered promises. There was only the sterile silence, punctuated by the rustle of papers and the click of official pens.
Soon, she was ushered into a waiting truck, the hum of its engine a low hum that vibrated through her bones.
Inside, Anthony, the other District 7 tribute, sat stiffly opposite her. He was younger, his face pale with a mixture of terror and forced bravado. Their mentor, Johanna Mason, sat across from them, her eyes, sharp and assessing, seeming to cut right through Y/n.
Next to Johanna was Yunho, his posture a little less rigid, a flicker of something unreadable in his gaze as he occasionally glanced at her.
The truck took them to a luxurious train, its polished chrome glinting under the artificial lights. This was no ordinary train. Every surface gleamed, and the air was thick with the scent of expensive perfumes and gourmet food. It was a stark contrast to the rough lumber and damp earth of District 7. Â
Y/n felt a surge of nausea, not from motion sickness, but from the sheer opulence that seemed to mock the poverty of her home.
She was guided to a private compartment, far grander than anything she had ever seen. A soft bed, a private washroom, even a small, stocked bar.
It was overwhelming. She just wanted to crawl into a corner and disappear.
The initial wave of shock had given way to a dull ache of despair.
How was she supposed to fight? Her body felt like a lead weight, her mind a tangled knot of anxiety.
-
Dinner was a spectacle. Course after course of food she couldn't even name, prepared with an artistry that felt obscene. Y/n, despite her apprehension, found herself drawn to the warmth of the dishes. She hadn't realized how hungry she was until the rich aromas filled the dining car.
As she reached for another portion of a savory stew, a Capitol stylist, adorned in a garish orange wig and layers of shimmering fabric, leaned over, her voice a condescending whisper.
"Are you sure you want to eat quite so much, dear?" the stylist purred, her eyes raking over Y/n's curvy frame. "It would be a better idea if you started to get fit. Like this, you won't even have a chance in the arena."
A hot flush crawled up Y/n's neck. The fork clattered against her plate, the clink echoing in the sudden silence that fell around their small table. Anthony shifted uncomfortably. Johanna scoffed, taking a long sip from her glass, her gaze on Y/n hardening into an "I told you so" expression.
But then, a quiet, almost imperceptible shift beside her. Yunho stiffened. He didn't speak to the stylist directly, but his fork paused mid-air, and a subtle frown creased his brow. His eyes, though quickly masked, held a spark of disapproval.
It was a fleeting moment, but Y/n felt a small, unexpected warmth spread through her chest. Someone, even a Victor, had noticed. Someone, even in this gilded cage, seemed to care. The warmth was quickly replaced by a bitter thought: What good would it do her now?
-
After the meal, Y/n retreated to her compartment. The opulence felt suffocating.
She sat by the window, watching the blur of the districts outside. They were leaving District 7 further and further behind, each mile severing another tie to her sparse existence.
Insomnia, her unwelcome companion, began to creep in. Her mind raced, replaying the reaping, the stylist's cruel words. The pain in her ankle was a dull throb, a constant reminder of her physical limitations. She knew she couldn't outrun anyone, couldn't climb or jump to safety. Her only hope lay in her mind, in the medical knowledge she'd hoarded from stolen books and years of quiet observation. Perhaps her knowledge of plants, of poisons, could be her weapon. It was a terrifying thought, but a plan, however nascent, was beginning to form in the deep, quiet recesses of her despair.
The train continued its relentless journey eastward, cutting through the vast, variegated landscapes of Panem. As the first light of dawn filtered through the polished windows of her compartment, Y/n was still awake, her mind a ceaseless churn of fear and fragmented thoughts. The plush mattress, softer than any bed she'd ever known, offered no comfort. Her ankle, usually just a dull ache, seemed to protest the very idea of rest, a phantom pain mirroring her internal turmoil.
She showered, the warm water a startling luxury that briefly eased the tension in her shoulders. The Capitol-issued clothes laid out for her were surprisingly comfortable: soft, dark fabrics that didn't chafe or cling. A small mercy.
-
Breakfast was a solitary affair for a while. She arrived in the dining car to find it empty, save for the efficient Capitol servants who seemed to materialize out of thin air.
The stylist's words from the previous night still pricked at her, a low hum of insecurity. She ate sparingly, picking at the delicate pastries and exotic fruits, her appetite dulled by anxiety.
Soon, Anthony joined her, his eyes still wide and nervous. He tried to make small talk, his voice a little too loud in the cavernous space. "It's... different, isn't it?" he mumbled, gesturing vaguely at the opulent surroundings. Y/n merely offered a tight, polite smile, her social anxiety making it difficult to engage. She was good at comforting patients, at drawing out their pain and giving them space to breathe. But for herself, and in this alien environment, her conversational well ran dry.
The quietness that usually settled over her when her 'job' was done became a heavy cloak, insulating her from the world, but also trapping her within herself.
Then, the other two arrived. Johanna Mason, her face an unreadable mask, and Yunho, whose presence seemed to fill the lavish space with a quiet intensity.
Johanna dismissed Anthony with a curt nod and immediately launched into a brusque assessment of their 'chances,' focusing almost exclusively on Anthony's supposed strengths. "You're a strong one, boy," she stated, her voice gruff.
"Good with an axe, I hear. That'll get you further than some of these others." Her gaze flickered to Y/n, a dismissive sniff escaping her lips. "This one, though... not sure what we're going to do. District 7 doesn't send crippled tributes to the Games."
Y/n's cheeks burned. She clenched her jaw, refusing to meet Johanna's mocking eyes. She felt Yunho shift beside her, a subtle tightening of his jaw. He didn't interrupt Johanna, but he kept his eyes on his plate, a subtle tension in his broad shoulders. He was caught between his senior mentor and his own sense of fairness.
-
The rest of the day was a blur of forced leisure. They were given access to various amenities: a lavish lounge, a small library filled with volumes Y/n longed to steal, but dared not touch.
She spent most of the afternoon sequestered in her compartment, staring out at the passing scenery. The cultivated farmlands of District 11, the vast, industrial complexes of District 3 â each glimpsed through the window felt like a world away, a testament to the Capitol's immense power.
As evening approached, and the stars began to pepper the darkening sky, Y/n's insomnia intensified.
The opulent train, speeding towards her inevitable fate, felt like a golden coffin. The thought of another night spent staring at the ceiling, her mind replaying every terrifying scenario, was unbearable.
She slipped out of her compartment, needing air, needing to move, however limited her gait.
-
The dining car was dimly lit, the remnants of dinner still on the tables. A lone figure sat at one of the tables, staring out the window into the inky blackness. It was Yunho. He looked less like the Capitol's "golden boy" now, and more like a weary young man burdened by too much responsibility.
Y/n hesitated, her social anxiety flaring. But the desperate need for a distraction, for something other than her own thoughts, pushed her forward. She quietly made her way to the small bar cart at the back of the car, pouring herself a glass of water from a crystal carafe. The clink of the glass seemed impossibly loud in the quiet car.
Yunho turned, his eyes finding hers in the dim light. His expression softened slightly, a hint of genuine concern replacing the guardedness sheâd seen earlier.
"Can't sleep?" he asked, his voice low and gentle, like the murmur of a distant stream.
Y/n nodded, clutching the glass. "No. Not really."
He gestured to the chair opposite him. "Join me."
She slid into the seat, grateful for the invitation. The silence stretched between them, but it was a different kind of silence than the one she shared with Anthony or the one enforced by Johanna. This one felt less oppressive, almost companionable.
"It's... a lot to take in, isn't it?" Yunho finally said, his gaze drifting back to the window, though Y/n sensed his attention was still very much on her.
"Everything feels too big," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper. "And I feel so... small." She looked down at her hands, tracing the lines on her palm. "I don't have anyone waiting for me. No family, no friends. Others might have... something to fight for. But I have no one to return to."
Yunho turned to her fully then, his expression earnest. "That's not true," he said softly, his voice firm but kind. "District 7 is your family. The people you've healed, the lives you've touched. They're all rooting for you." He paused, a flicker of pain in his own eyes.
"And even if you think you have no one, you have to fight for yourself. For the chance to live. Don't give up before you've even started."
He leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping even lower. "Johanna... she's a good mentor in the arena, but she's harsh. Don't let her words get to you. You're smarter than they give you credit for. And that can be just as powerful as strength."
A small, surprised breath escaped Y/n. No one had ever spoken to her like that, with such directness, such genuine belief. The unspoken support, the understanding in his eyes, was a balm to her frayed nerves.
She met his gaze, and for the first time since the reaping, a tiny, flickering spark of something other than despair ignited within her.
Perhaps, just perhaps, she wasn't entirely alone in this gilded cage.
The train continued its relentless journey, carrying them closer to the Capitol, closer to the Games. But for a brief moment, in the quiet solitude of the dining car, Y/n felt a whisper of hope, a fragile connection in the heart of the enemy's luxury.

Spiderwebs Post-Canon #1: Jackie's Epilogue
Masterlist
· âą ââ ٠†٠ââ ⹠·
Consciousness came with the gentle certainty of a first snow. For the first time, Jackie was happy to wake up alive.Â
He could remember killing Mary and Kate and Carter, and the police sirens, which meant the escape was successful, which meant that he was safe, which meant that Bunny was safe, which was all that really mattered. Relief pierced his heart. Then he felt the dull pain sifting in his limbs, and he was a little less euphoric.
He opened his eyes. The lights were off, but it was not pure darkness. Not like in the basement, during those six months. Some light seeped through a closed window. The walls were sterile and white. He could hear a faint, distant beeping. The sound of a heart monitor, he guessed, or some other medical machine. There was a needle in his arm. It led to an IV bag, which stood on its own four-wheeled stand. There was a plastic band on his wrist, which stated his name and a series of numbers. The bedsheets were also pale. He was in bed. Not his own bed. Not Heatherâs bed, either. It was unfamiliar.
He was in a hospital. Everything smelled of disinfectant, and everything was colourless. It put him on edge, but he supposed it was safer than anywhere else in the world. Where else could he go? His old apartment had to be rented out already. And all that injury was probably taking a toll on his body. A few days of rest would be nice.
He just wished the room was less boring. There was one attempt at cheering up the place: a painting of a lakeside forest on the far wall. It was the ugliest painting Jackie had ever seen. Clearly, there was a reason that the artist could only be hired by hospital wards. But their effort was commendable.
He was distracted by the sounds quickly approaching his room. Voices echoed outside, caught in a heated argument, accompanied by loud footsteps. The door pushed open. The lightswitch snapped to life. He screwed his eyes up.
âThis isnât a petting zoo. Come back with a warrant.â
âSir, this is a matter of national security. We donât need a warrant.â
âYes,â someone else said. âItâs important we act quickly.â
Jackie forced his eyelids open, blinking profusely all the while. There was a blue-clad, harried-looking nurseâit said he was a nurse on his lanyardâin the doorway. The nurse was accompanied by two other people. They were both in their forties. One had short salt-and-pepper hair, while the other had her brown hair curled in a bob. They both wore suits. It was all very extravagant. Jackie felt a little underdressed in his hospital gown.
âYouâre harassing our patients,â the nurse continued. âThis isnâtââ
âHello,â Jackie said. âAre you the police?â
All eyes focused on him, staring bluntly.
âHello,â the brunette finally replied, an easygoing answer in contrast to⊠whatever was happening with the other two.
Jackie knew why these officers were in his hospital room. He had killed twoâno, three people, rich and powerful people, all with a stolen weapon. It had been for Bunnyâs sake, and he didnât mind the blood on his hands, but all crimes deserved judgment. Here was Saint Peter at the gate.Â
âFor the record,â Jackie managed to say in his hoarse voice, âBunny was not a part of any of the murders. So donât arrest her. Please. I would really appreciate it.â
The nurse and the graying officer furrowed their brows, glaring even worse than before. The brunette smiled.
âWhat murders?â the nurse demanded.
Jackie opened his mouth, but the officer held a hand up to stop him. âThis is a private matter. Iâm giving you a final warning, sir. We can have you prosecuted for disobeying an officer.â
The brunette nodded, then started and pulled something out from her coat pocket, as if she had forgotten to show it earlier. It was an official ID card. They were definitely from the CIA, then. It seemed to be legitimate. There was a picture of an eagle and everything.
The nurse shot them all a look of displeasure, but he ultimately left the room. The door closed softly behind him. The card was stuffed back into the agentâs coat.
Jackie tried to speak with confidence, and failed miserably. âDo I have to go to jail now?â
The graying officer raised their eyebrows, but said nothing of substance.
âNot for killing anyone,â the brunette explained. âIt was self defense. We pulled a few strings to speed the courts up. Theyâre not pressing charges. And definitely not against the investigatorâMackenzie-Clarke, was it?â
The other officer nodded. âMy name is Fischer. This is Petrova, my partner. Are you Jackie Rockwell?â
âYes, thatâs me.â That was his main concern out of the way. âWhere is Bunny? And Heather? Where is she?â
âMr. Rockwell,â Fischer continued, as if they didnât hear the question. âYou were found with a bullet embedded in your heart. There is evidence of many other exit wounds. Several of your arteries were damaged beyond repair. It is the belief of our organizationââ
âYes, I know, Iâm immortal. Catâs out of the bag.â He lifted his hand, the one hooked to an IV. âCan I take this needle out?â
âNo,â Fischer said. âWhat do you mean, you know?â
âI already found out.â He gestured vaguely. âCanât die.â
âItâs really true, then? You actually canât die?â Petrova asked.
Fischer gave their partner a stern look. Petrova shrugged.
âI donât think so,â Jackie said.
âIn that case,â Fischer continued, âwe might as well proceed. The agency is interested in examining yourâŠâ
âStem cells,â Petrova said.
âYes. Stem cells. Of course, we need you toââ
âDonât worry,â Jackie cut them off. âIâll go willingly. Iâd like to know where Bunny is, though. Sheâs not injured, is she?â
Again, Fischer answered none of those questions. âYou wonât need to go anywhere.â
Petrova shook her head. âWeâre not going to hold you against your will, Mr. Rockwell. That would be illegal. The agency already has your cell samples. We just need you to sign this contract.â
Fischer brought out a document, crammed with lines of text.Â
âYou have the right to refuse,â Petrova said. âBut weâre offering compensation.â
âCompensation?â
âCompensation,â Fischer confirmed. âSeventy thousand a year, and an immediate lump sum of twenty thousand. It will be yours as long as you keep this research and your immortality confidential from the public. You have the right to refuse, of course.â
The right to refuse? Jackie had been missing for a year. Getting another job would be difficult. And Bunnyâwouldnât Bunny appreciate something so generous? Financial securityâwasnât that the sweetest string of words?Â
âPetrova will read you through the contract,â Fischer said, inevitably noticing the clear answer in Jackieâs expression. âYou may contact a legal representative, if you so wish. But you should rest now. Weâll return later.â
âGet well soon,â Petrova said, waving him goodbye.Â
He waved back as they both left the room. This was going very well. It almost felt too good to be true. Not even almost; Jackie was half-expecting to wake up any second. He was half-expecting Heather to walk in, as irritated as ever. But the hospital room was silent and still, clean and safe and nothing more.Â
The door opened again. The next face he saw was a familiar one.
Bunny rushed in and hugged Jackie before they could even exchange greetings. The air was knocked out of Jackieâs lungs, but he didnât careâBunny was safe. It was all he needed to know.
âI got you something!â She held a box up to show him. âLook. They had it in the gift store.â
It was a box of chocolates. One of those expensive tins, with its lid outlined in blue and gold. It seemed to be heavy, too, judging from the way it rattled when Bunny lifted it.
âAw, thanks,â Jackie said.
âI donât have any more money on me, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the rest of your gifts.â Bunny placed it on Jackieâs lap. âI canât believe we did it.â
âNeither can I.â
âIt all happened so quickly.â She smiled, and Jackie smiled back. She was significantly less injured since the last time Jackie saw her. There were bandages on all her burns and cuts. âAre you feeling any better, by the way? I hope they gave you painkillers. The doctors said the bullets didnât hit anything vital, but it looked bad last I saw. Iâd bet it still hurts. Should I get something for you? Call a nurse?â
âThank you, but I feel fine. You donât need to get anything.â There was only one thing on his mind. âDo you know where Heather is?â
Bunny shook her head. âFar from here, Iâd wager. The authorities havenât found her.â
âYeah. Guess so.âÂ
She was somewhere else, where she could not see him.

Hello there! :)
I just had this idea and was wondering if I could request it to you in the form of a fic / oneshot
Goes like this: reader (female) is also a patient in the briarcliff asylum and has some sort of rivalry with kit walker, pretty much one-sided in fact. And she frames him for something just to get him in trouble, and of course sister jude makes her watch kit being caned for it. But the thing is that she thought she would feel good seeing her "rival" suffering, and thought that he would retaliate on her for it later, but when she truly sees his pain and how he still did not hold any revengeful feelings towards her about it, she finally understands that kit walker is not a rival of hers at all.
Anyway, tysm. I hope you can accept this.
Hello angel! Thank you so so much for this request! I must say, I really love this idea. I hope you will like it babes ^^

Kit Walker- reflections

FEMÂ reader
<3 (SFW)
TW- sad-comfort, mentions of punishing (HAPPY END)
Kit Walker
RIVALS! at first (wait till the end :3 )
Sister Jude mentioned
Kit Walker

The white walls of Briarcliff Asylum loom above you, cold and oppressive, as they echo the whispered secrets of its inhabitants.
The air is thick with the scent of disinfectant and the ever-present stench of fear. You pace your small, sterile cell, a sense of unease coursing through you.
Outside, the oppressive quiet of Briarcliff is broken only by the occasional murmur of orderlies or the distant wail of a patientâunrestrained, desperate.
Your thoughts often drift to himâKit Walker. He occupies your thoughts even when you wish he wouldnât. Kit, with his tousled hair and penetrating brown eyes, both a source of intrigue and your greatest annoyance.
You had always been rivals, in a way: he was the golden boy, the misunderstoodâs hero, while you were the comparatively placid girl seeking solace in the asylumâs walls. But lately, the rivalry had taken a dark turn.
âI swear, theyâll believe anything I tell them...â
You had muttered to yourself, an idea forming that twisted with every pulse of your heart. The day you decided to frame Kit felt electric. He rarely fought back under Sister Judeâs reignâa marked flaw in your eyesâand you couldnât resist the chance to see him writhing a little in the painful light of her attention.
You felt smug; this time, you would be the victor.
Later that evening, the dim lights of the hallway flickered ominously as you smiled inwardly at your planâs fruition.
You watched from the shadows as Sister Jude entered the common room, her dark habit a shadow that brought dread. She swept her gaze across the room, finally honing in on Kit, who sat isolated, a look of solemn determination on his face.
Sister Jude seemed terribly angry- somebody stole medicine earlier and she was trying to find who to blame. Her eyes were red with fury.
You watched the scene unfold, feeling a perverse sense of satisfaction as you moved forward.
âKit Walker,â
you called out, feigning innocence,
âisnât it true that you were near the storage room when the medicine went missing?â
Sister Judeâs eyes glinted with interest. Kit looked up, confusion and then shock flitting across his features.
âI didnâtââ
âSilence! You! Behind me, now!â
Sister Jude bellowed, slicing through his protest. The room shrank in the wake of her command, and with finality, she motioned Kit to follow her towards the punishment room.
Your heart raced with adrenaline as you felt the weight of your deception settle in.
You thought you would relish in his suffering, but as Kit was led away, the sudden clarity of his confusion and hurt twisted your stomach into knots. You had crossed a line that you couldnât uncross.
You simply looked away as you heard loud slaps and Kit yelping. The happy feeling of framing your enemy didn't last long. Not as long as Kit's cries.
Time felt fluid as you paced back and forth in your room, waiting for Sister Jude to bring Kit back, anxious and guilty.
When he finally returned hours later, it was on an isolated noiseâa sound that was dissimilar to the din of the asylum. It was a haunting silence, the kind that wrapped you like a shroud.
The aftermath was far worse than you anticipated. You could see the marks left on himâthe limp walk and bruising even on his face, the hollow look in his eyes.
You expected to feel triumphant, but in that moment, you could only see pain. Kit didnât look at you with hatred; he didnât give you that satisfaction. Instead, he wore an expression of bewildermentâconfused and scarred, yet still undeniably strong.
Weakness washed over you. You had wanted revenge, but the guilt unfurled like shadows.
The reality hit you like a cold slapâthis person you had tormented, you now recognized as not just your rival, but an innocent soul caught up in the chaos of Briarcliffâs existence.
âWhat have I done?â
You whispered to yourself, feeling your heartache as you approached him.
âKit?â
He flinched at the sound of your voice, a minute ripple of tension in his body.
âWhat do you want?â
He replied, his tone flat. He wouldnât look at you, his gaze fixed somewhere far away.
âIâI'm sorry-â
You stammered, your resolve shaking.
âI thoughtâit was just a.... I didnât understand.â
âJust a what? A game?â
He exclaimed bitterly, finally meeting your gaze, and for a fleeting moment, you saw the fire of his anger flare before dimming into something deeper. The hurt that transcended rage swept across his expression.
âYouâve no idea what it was likeâthe pain. I didnât ask for any of this.â
You stepped closer, your heart racing for different reasons now.
âI know. I misunderstood. I thought-â
âThought what?â
He interrupted, bitterness twisting his voice.
âThat hurting someone would make you feel better? That I deserved this?â
âNo... of course not I just, uh-"
You said, pain clouding your voice.
âI thought I was hurting my ârival.â I didnât see you. I couldnât understand. Iâm so sorry.â
Kitâs anguish slowly melted away, and in its place, a muted understanding began to take root. He remained silent for a long time- thinking how he was kind of an asshole to you, and you fought to keep your gaze steady.
Finally, Kit sighed, emotion thick in the air between the two of you.
âYou thought I was your rival?â
He said softly,
"But I never saw you that way. You were justâŠsomeone I recognized among the madness.â
The cloak of misunderstanding began to lift, revealing the fragility of your shared experience. Slowly, you inched closer until you sat at his feet, lowering your head until it rested on his knee.
âLet me help you, Kit. Please.â
You murmured, the lump in your throat tight.
He remained still for a moment before his hand found its place atop your head, a gesture so gentle that it shattered the last remnants of the barrier between you.
âItâs hard to forgive,â he admitted softly, âbut I see you now, too.â
As he lifted your chin to meet his gaze, the understanding washed over you bothâa fragile connection, mending the wounds that had opened between you.
There, amidst the darkness of Briarcliff, what had once been a rivalry transformed into something resembling hope. Together, you sat in shared silence, understanding threading its way into the very fabric of your entangled lives.
In the heart of despair, you found an ally in Kit, a companion forged through the anonymity of suffering.
And as you leaned into him, seeking comfort and mutual understanding, you realized that the chains of your misinterpretations had slowly begun to fall away. Instead of rivals, you were nothing less than wounded souls seeking solace amidst the madness. Together, the redemption had begun.
Phew, i think this might be the longest fanfic I ever did! I really liked this one (at the end where bby is better). I guess I'm a sucker for hurt-comfort!
Donât forget, requests are always open and I can write for any character youâd like!
I love you guys so much <33

The heavy drum of rain cascading down the windows several rooms over was a hard lullaby to ignore for most people. But with it barely even being the hour creeping on midnight Leon found it easy to keep his eyes open. A myriad of stolen items were the newest objects in the abandoned room. A mat spread out on a recently mopped area of the floor, a battery powered space heater closeby. A pile of common medical supplies, disinfectant, bandaging, antibiotic spray, painkillers, anti inflammatories, anything that Leon could find that might be useful. A proper tourniquet had replaced his headband on Raphâs leg, the blue fabric back across his own eyes, surprisingly not bloodied. Aprilâs jacket hadnât been as lucky, but it was currently scrubbed with hydrogen peroxide and propped up on the other side of the heater from where they were huddled together. Thick blankets over their forms, Raphâs head once more in Aprilâs lap while they both dozed on each other, exhausted. It had been an ordeal to change out the makeshift covers on Raphâs leg for clean gauze and bandaging, but it still wasnât completely fixed. Leon needed more than painkillers and antibiotics to fix that injury. A scalpel for one thing. And a very detailed series of videos for another. Plus a sterile site. Which, while they were currently in a hospital the amount of dust and dirt was enough to make them all sneeze repeatedly over the hours they had been there. It had been enough to motivate Leon into making another trip to mostly empty stores to grab cleaning supplies as well shortly after they had arrived.
One day.
They had discussed their options, and come to the agreement that they wouldnât try anything risky with Raph for one day. Leon had mixed feelings about it. He knew it was a horrible idea to leave a wound like that unattended for that long. His brain was screaming at him that it was a bad decision. But he would be lying if he said he wasnât terrified of trying to surgically straighten the bone without Donnie there to help him. Sure, Donnie hated blood and squishy things. But when it mattered he was the best assistant Leon had ever had. And the only assistant really. Without Donnie and Mikey there with them Leon was feeling horribly alone. It was enough to motivate him to keep his swords materialized and held against his chest while he leaned against April, the blades consciously dulled to prevent injury. He wasnât planning on sleeping, but the slow rise and fall of their forms brought him comfort. One side of his brain justified his defiance by telling him someone needed to keep watch. Or that he shouldnât sleep because he had a head injury. But really it had been long enough that it wasnât serious. Sleep should be fine.
He was just scared.
He hadnât mentioned it to April, but just two hours earlier heâd felt something different from Donnie. Before it had been a quiet pool of eerie silence, like what Leon usually felt when Donnie was in a dreamless sleep, but stretched into a faint uncertainty like he was behind an ocean of water. But while he had been away from the others heâd had to take a moment to recollect himself as other things had bled through. Fear, anger, distress, protectiveness, rage, then a jumbled pool of scrambled thoughts and feelings that Leon knew usually led Donnie to screaming in a desperate attempt to get rid of some of it. Even just a little. Leon had had to force himself to keep moving to help Raph and April at the time, but it had been hard to hide the fact he knew Donnie was in trouble. At least, he had been. There was something odd almost an hour and a half ago. A hesitant release, followed by a stretch of tense stillness. Then one moment of semi uncertain comfort before the dreamless sleep returned. Leon was clinging to the hope that that last sensation meant that Donnie, and Lil Mikey were okay now. But doubts plagued his mind and kept him easily, stubbornly awake.
And for once he was grateful they did.
The dim light on his arm displayed a screen that had only part of it changing regularly. Three sections of vitals making it easy for Leon to keep track of his own physical state as well as that of Raphâs and Aprilâs physical well being. The rest had no feed. At first Leon had thought there was none to give, but now he was clinging to the hope that it was a technical malfunction. And it seemed they had been right about that. It took him a moment to notice the change, the device screen only within his peripheral sight. But after a confused blink he looked down at it, only to gasp and sit up.
Donnie and Lil Mikeyâs vitals had flickered back to being displayed.
âApril!â Leon hissed, turning to start patting his big sisterâs shoulder rapidly. âApril, wake up. Theyâre okay! April theyâre okay!â
April returned to the land of consciousness with a startled snort, but was quick to chase the sleep haze from her mind. âWhat? Whoâs okay? What?â she asked rapidly, finding her glasses to put back on so she could see what Leon was looking at after he squished into her, a hand grabbing his own arm and showing it to her. She immediately noticed the difference. âHeartbeats⊠Theyâre okay,â she breathed, relief flooding into her form. It was one thing to hope, but another thing to have that hope confirmed into truth.
âIt was out of range. That had to be it. They were just out of range,â Leon rambled, starting to tap at the device to switch to a different screen. The map Donnie had installed didnât completely match what was actually there, but it still managed to pull up everyoneâs general locations. Just like how theyâd wanted. âDonnie used the satellite to increase the range of this thing back home. But if our phones arenât working then the satellite that he piggybacks off of doesnât exist. Of course! Iâm so stupid to have not realized that.â
âLeo, itâs okay. We havenât had to rely on that for tracking for months now,â April assured, but it was hard to get Leonâs full attention. Donnie and Lil Mikeyâs signal was coming towards them from the southeast, and completely out of state.
âWow, thatâs fast. They must be in a vehicle of some sort,â Leon detoured, reaching out with his other hand to grab his swords. âIâm going to go get them.â
âWhat? Leo, not on your own,â April tensed, leaning forward and curling her hands around Raph a little more. Her poor brother was so tired that he was still asleep, but he was starting to stir.
âItâll be fine, April. Iâm just going to wait for them to stop, pop in, grab them, and pop out,â Leon assured, getting to his feet and backing up.
âLeoâŠ,â April protested, not able to put her wants into words. There was just so much that could go wrong, and then she had no way to find any of them. âWhat if you canât come back?â
That was enough to get him to pause, and he thought for a moment before coming back to her. âGive me your phone,â he directed, tapping the screen on Donnieâs arm computer again. With a few taps he triggered a prompt for an additional device, then grabbed Aprilâs phone and hand to pull it gently against the computer. After a moment an icon flashed steady, and a mirror of the screen appeared on Aprilâs phone.
âGive me until noon tomorrow, then come get me,â Leon directed, changing the screen back to the tracking map and swinging in to give April a quick, but tight hug. âI promise Iâll see you before then. Make sure you and Raph stay hydrated.â He didnât give her much of a chance to protest after that. A familiar blue portal appeared behind him for him to drop backwards into, a smile and a wink being the last April saw of his face.
Pursing her lips, April looked down to Raph and started soothingly rubbing the back of his head. âSorry Raphie. I just got startled by the rain. Go back to sleep,â she lied. She didnât want to cause him more stress, and he was inevitably too worn out to resist.

When Sailor Mercury Grows UpâŠ
Work on the fan fiction sequel to the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series continues on pace. The first two Acts of Black Moon have laid the foundation; now, I can start honing in on some of the individual Sailor Guardians. Naturally, I am starting with Ami Mizuno, Sailor Mercury.
At the end of PGSM, Ami was studying to become a doctor in America. By the time Black Moon begins, she has returned to Tokyo as one of the youngest doctors in the history of Japan. She has achieved her goals, but quickly discovers that her big heart may get in the way of her medical career.
Then thereâs the girl from the future, Chibiusa, who drops a major bombshell on Ami in Act 2. How the good doctor copes with these revelations is the main focus of Act 3 - Death and Other Complications.
Writing is currently in progress. For those readers who enjoyed Act 1 and Act 2, and canât wait for more, hereâs a sneak peak at a scene from Act 3.
Please note, this is a rough draft, so there may be changes and corrections by the time the full episode is posted.
Enjoy!
âââââââââ
You canât save everyone, Ami. No matter how hard you try.
An eerie silence had fallen over the Nakamura Clinic. The medical centerâs telltale hustle and bustle had faded into nothingness. Normally, nurses and doctors alike scampered from room to room to help and heal where they could. Instead, there was no soul in sight.
Dr. Ami Mizuno looked up and down the hallway of the fifth floor. She felt disoriented. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead and cast a cold, sterile glow over the empty corridor. The air was heavy with the scent of disinfectant.
She couldnât remember how she had gotten here. When had her shift started? She shook her head as she tried to clear the cobwebs from her mind.
âHello?â
No response came. Instead, a single light flickered in the distance, then went dark.
Her heart raced as she took a hesitant step forward. The click of her low heels echoed in the silence. The corridor stretched in both directions, lined with identical doors that led to identical rooms.
Something is very wrong here.
She walked down the hallway in hopes she would encounter another doctor, perhaps a nurse. Anybody. She saw nobody. Then she heard a sound.
Beep⊠beep-beepâŠ
It was so faint at first, Ami almost did not recognize it. Then she heard it again, louder this time. It was unmistakable: the beeps of a heart monitor. The irregular rhythm ignited her medical training, her instincts. Somebody needed her help.
She picked up her pace. Her hurried walk turned into a jog. Her ears guided her further and further down the corridor.
A long, flat tone replaced the irregular beeping. Her blood ran cold. She was too late. The patientâs heart had stopped.
Flatline.
Ami rounded a corner and spotted a door that was ajar. She was certain she had found the right room. So why did she hesitate? Why was this the last place in the world she wanted to go?
Ami ignored her sudden surge of fear. She pushed the door open. The hinges groaned in protest. Her hands trembled as a blast of cold air emanated from the room. She hesitated, then entered.
The room was dark; the green glow of the heart monitor cast an eerie light across the space. Amiâs breath caught in her throat when her eyes fell on the bed.
Lying there, pale and still, was a young woman of maybe twenty. Her wide, lifeless eyes stared up at the ceiling. She was dead. Ami recognized her right away.

Why Is My Endoscope Camera 4K Producing Blurry Images?
Endoscope cameras, particularly advanced models like the endoscope camera 4K, are critical tools in modern minimally invasive surgery. These devices provide high-resolution visuals that surgeons rely on for precision in fields such as gynecology, urology, and thoracic surgery. However, when the image quality degrades and becomes blurry, it can disrupt procedures and compromise outcomes. Letâs dive into the potential causes of blurriness in an endoscope camera 4K and how to address them effectively.
What Role Does Lens Condition Play in Endoscope Camera 4K Clarity? Â
The lens is the heart of any endoscope camera 4K system. Given its role in capturing light and forming images, even minor issues can significantly affect performance. Dust, smudges, or scratches on the lens surface are common culprits behind blurry visuals. In surgical environments, exposure to bodily fluids or cleaning agents can leave residues if not properly managed.
To maintain clarity, regular inspection of the lens is essential. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a medical-grade cleaning solution to gently wipe the lens. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the surface, as even microscopic damage can scatter light and degrade the 4K resolution. For endoscope cameras designed for obstetrics or general surgery, ensuring the lens remains pristine is especially critical due to the need for detailed visualization of delicate tissues.
Could Improper Focus Settings Affect My Endoscope Camera 4K? Â
Unlike traditional cameras, many endoscope camera 4K models feature automatic or semi-automatic focus systems tailored for close-range surgical imaging. However, if the focus mechanism is misaligned or improperly calibrated, the resulting images may appear blurry despite the 4K capability. This issue can arise during manufacturing or after prolonged use, particularly if the device has been mishandled.
Check the user manual for your specific endoscope camera 4K to verify the focus settings. Some systems allow manual adjustments, while others rely on software calibration. If the problem persists, contacting the manufacturerâs technical support team for a professional recalibration may be necessary. For devices used in thoracic or urological surgeries, where depth perception is vital, ensuring proper focus is non-negotiable.
Is Lighting a Factor in Endoscope Camera 4K Blurriness? Â
Lighting plays a pivotal role in the performance of an endoscope camera 4K. These devices often integrate LED light sources to illuminate internal body cavities. If the light is too dim, overexposed, or unevenly distributed, the camera may struggle to produce sharp images, even at 4K resolution. Overly bright light can cause glare, while insufficient illumination can obscure details, both leading to perceived blurriness.
To troubleshoot, assess the light sourceâs intensity and adjust it if possible. Many endoscope camera 4K systems offer customizable brightness settings. In procedures like gynecological or general surgery, where tissue reflectivity varies, finding the right balance is key. Additionally, ensure the light transmission componentsâsuch as fiber optic cablesâare clean and undamaged, as defects here can diffuse light and compromise image quality.
How Does Moisture Impact Endoscope Camera 4K Performance? Â
Moisture is a frequent challenge in endoscopic procedures due to the presence of bodily fluids or sterilization processes. If water droplets or condensation form on the lens of an endoscope camera 4K, the image will appear hazy or distorted. This is particularly relevant for instruments used in urology or other fluid-rich environments.
After sterilizationâwhether through autoclaving or chemical disinfectionâensure the camera is thoroughly dried before use. Inspect seals and gaskets to confirm theyâre intact, as leaks can allow moisture ingress. For reusable endoscope camera 4K models, following ISO-compliant drying protocols can prevent this issue. In some cases, anti-fog coatings or solutions applied to the lens can mitigate condensation during surgery.
Can Cable or Connector Issues Blur My Endoscope Camera 4K? Â
The high-resolution output of an endoscope camera 4K relies on seamless data transmission from the camera head to the display unit. Damaged cables, loose connectors, or poor-quality adapters can introduce signal interference, resulting in blurry or pixelated images. This is especially true for systems that transmit 4K video over long distances in operating rooms.
Inspect all connections for wear, corrosion, or improper seating. If your endoscope camera 4K uses detachable cables, ensure they meet the manufacturerâs specificationsâsubstandard replacements can bottleneck data transfer. For surgical solutions spanning Asia or Europe, where equipment may travel extensively, regular maintenance of these components is a practical step to preserve image quality.
Are Software or Firmware Updates Needed for Endoscope Camera 4K Clarity? Â
Modern endoscope camera 4K systems often depend on embedded software or firmware to process images in real time. Outdated or corrupted software can lead to rendering issues, including blurriness, even if the hardware is functioning correctly. Manufacturers may release updates to enhance image processing algorithms or fix bugs that affect resolution.
Check the manufacturerâs website or support portal for the latest firmware version compatible with your endoscope camera 4K. Follow the update instructions carefully, as improper installation could worsen the problem. This step is particularly relevant for devices certified with CE or ISO standards, as compliance often includes maintaining up-to-date software for optimal performance.
How Does Wear and Tear Affect Endoscope Camera 4K Longevity? Â
Over time, physical wear and tear can degrade the performance of an endoscope camera 4K. Components like the CCD or CMOS sensor, which capture the 4K imagery, may deteriorate with repeated use or exposure to harsh sterilization processes. Aging sensors can lose sensitivity, leading to fuzzy or unclear visuals. Similarly, mechanical parts within the endoscope may shift, misaligning the optical system.
Routine servicing by qualified technicians can extend the lifespan of your endoscope camera 4K. For instruments exported to regions like South America or Europe, where usage patterns may vary, adhering to a maintenance schedule ensures consistent clarity. If blurriness persists despite troubleshooting, it may indicate the need for sensor replacement or a full system overhaul.
Final Thoughts on Restoring Endoscope Camera 4K Clarity Â
A blurry endoscope camera 4K can stem from multiple sourcesâlens contamination, focus errors, lighting imbalances, moisture, connectivity issues, outdated software, or natural wear. By systematically addressing these factors, users can restore the crisp, high-definition visuals essential for minimally invasive surgery. Regular care and attention to detail ensure that your endoscope camera 4K performs reliably across applications, from gynecology to thoracic procedures, enhancing both safety and precision in the operating room. If challenges persist, consulting with technical experts familiar with these systems can provide tailored solutions to keep your equipment at its best.

Static Pass Box Manufacturer in Ahmedabad
A static pass box is an essential cleanroom device designed to facilitate the transfer of materials between two areas of equal cleanliness classification, thereby minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. Unlike dynamic pass boxes, static pass boxes do not have built-in air filtration systems but rely on their sealed construction and interlocking mechanisms to maintain the integrity of the cleanroom environment. They are widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, and food processing, where maintaining a contamination-free environment is critical. Constructed from high-grade stainless steel (typically SS 304 or SS 316), static pass boxes feature a double-walled design with smooth, seamless interiors that are easy to clean and disinfect. The doors are equipped with electromagnetic or mechanical interlocking systems, ensuring that only one door can be opened at a time, thus preventing direct airflow between the two areas and maintaining pressure differentials. Tempered glass or polycarbonate view panels allow operators to see inside without opening the doors, further reducing the risk of contamination.â Many static pass boxes come with additional features to enhance their functionality. UV germicidal lamps are commonly installed to sterilize the interior surfaces and any materials placed inside, with hour meters to monitor usage. LED lighting provides clear visibility within the chamber, and audible or visual alarms may alert users if a door is left open or if both doors are attempted to be opened simultaneously. Some models also include digital displays, buzzer indicators, and optional HEPA filters for added protection.â
