Sa tuwing dadalaw si Mang Eddie sa ospital, kailangan pa rin niyang magbayad ng malaki. “Hindi sapat ang PhilHealth para sagutin ang lahat,” madalas sabihin ng ospital.

Isang araw, nakita ni Mang Eddie ang kaibigan niyang si Aling Mila, tindera ng kakanin. Tulad niya, umaasa rin ito sa PhilHealth para sa gamot ng kanyang anak. “Wala na akong ibang magagawa kundi umutang,” sabi nito, nakatingin sa langit na tila humihingi ng milagro.

Kahit may natitirang bilyong pondo, tila hindi ito nararamdaman ng mga tulad nina Mang Eddie at Aling Mila. Ang tanong, para kanino nga ba talaga ang PhilHealth? Sa mga miyembro ba nito o sa kung sino-sino lang?

Sa bawat boses na humihingi ng tulong, umaasa ang bawat Pilipino na balang araw, hindi na magiging bangungot ang kalusugan. Ngunit sa kasalukuyan, ang pag-asa nila ay tila isang kahong walang laman.
