Bug ferret gameshow
Tumblr media
Hearing about bug ferret soap operas being difficult to follow for non-ferrets made me think. Damn bug ferret game shows must be insane.

Mario 34 is absolutely the logical midpoint between 4/World and 64, and it is exactly analogous to how the Ambassador-class Enterprise C is the logical midpoint between the Excelsior-class B and the Galaxy-class D, arising not from chronological progression but from being filled in, in retrospect, as the shortest distance between two set points.  i may have just written the nerdiest sentence of my life and i have no regrets

My friend and I were being taught advanced algebra concepts except in a very dumbed down, simplistic way so it would be easier to understand.
Except, my friend already understood all of it. He would say, "Oh, that's an integral of 0 to pi," and the teacher would say, "Well yes, but the answer I'm looking for is 'red'."
This Math class was interspersed with sessions on the Grimace Shower and Workout Machine, a Grimace-themed workout machine where you would hold yourself horizontal with your arms, play a shitty arcade game with your feet, and a tiny little spout would occasionally pour water onto your chest.

All men are equal in death. To Clotho, such is their reigning tenet.
And to Clotho, a man like them sheds no tear for the departed. A necromancer need not fear death, for it is a cycle devouring upon itself, and they are the ringmaster of this primal instinct. As in— need, should, must. One must not fear, one must not ache or pine or rage. A snake is still a snake. Death is still a wild animal. Show your soft palm within the ribcage of your fist, and it will not yield to you. Clotho, for all their cool expertise, knows this through trial and error.
All men are equal in death. So this mantra becomes their epitaph for every sentiment buried under the grave of their tongue.
It's a corpse beneath the floorboards; this memory. The tremble in their fingers - the shortness of breath. Their prized coherence pooling out their ears like brains on a sidewalk. Black is all they've known the world to be, but this time it is blue. Saliva spilling past the shore of her lips. Piercing red lightning streaking through the sky of her eyes. She does not respond when they shake her. By God— what have you done?
All men are equal. Their mother was no man, no monster. Mother, simple and sweet, was cruel enough to damn her. As they were.
Their tears come soft on the linen of her robes. She is softer still. The used crowd of spellbooks and artifacts and alchemical instruments behind them laugh hollow at the display. Wire is taut, so is cloth. Neither will hold them now, after destroying the muscle that stretched to cradle their wretched self. So they bind her in her day shroud. And they bury her in the belly of the primordial Mother.
On her grave, they plant a singular Asphodel. Their one specimen.
And when they shakily kneel back to look down at the mount of soil, for a moment - just a moment, their nails slip back beneath the dirt. Back to where home was.
A moment was all it took. Soon as it comes, they rip it out her shabby resting grounds and lay it on their crown. That brain-shaped gilded mausoleum of theirs. So it has remained all this while - so has she, with that memory just as equal as a dead man.
But you know they never stay where they're supposed to for long.
In the land of the dead, asphodels are for the gray in between. They are the sustenance of the dead. They are my regrets, following you to the grave. O, Mother. You raised a walking corpse. As long as I hold you in my heart, the grave goes where I go; and dead men tell no tales, so... I love you. Isn't that the worst thing you've ever heard?

YAY Q AND A TIME YIPPEE!!
Tumblr media
A lot of people may think I'm a big Tim Drake fan just because I write about him a lot, but I'm actually a big fan of Cassandra Cain. She is the reason why I got into DC Comics in the first place. I was already familiar with the DCAU, the DC Animated Universe, and I had been watching a whole lot of Young Justice and Justice League, so I never really thought about reading the comics until I came across Cassandra Cain cover art on Pinterest. I thought, "Oh my God, she looks super cool!" So I read her original Batgirl run, her 2000s Batgirl run, and I absolutely loved it. Even if I don't write about her as much as I do with the others, she still has a special place in my heart. She got me into Detective Comics and DC Comics in general, and she was honestly such a fun read. With her, it frustrates me when people mischaracterize Cassandra or portray her as this uncivilized person because that's not Cassandra Cain. They don't know her like I do.
Other stuff I like to read!!

I like a lot of manga and anime, and I don't try to hide it. I'm a big fan of anime; I'm not going to joke about it. I was there when you had to watch anime in like 13 different parts, but it was just one singular episode, and the screens would be small as hell to avoid getting a copyright strike. I was there for the 2009 AMVs and the Nightcore music. One of my favorite animes and mangas that you all should read and watch is Sakamoto Days. It's a fire action manga with great art and great fighting; the fights are fun and interesting. If you want to read something that you can turn off your brain to, I would definitely recommend Sakamoto Days. I also deeply recommend Dandadan. There’s some drama about it, but it really is a good manga and a good read. If you can get past the fan service, trust and believe, the story is amazing. And that’s coming from me—I’m in love with Chainsaw Man. I've been with Chainsaw Man before it ever got popular; I was reading that on my legal manga websites. Chainsaw Man is top 10.

I'm into comic books that I like to read or that are really good. Some of my favorite comic books at the moment are Rogue Son, Radiant Black, and Empowered. Those are my favorite comics. I bet you guys are probably going to think of Invincible, but I do like Invincible. I just don't like it as much as I like the others. Still, I love Mark. I highly recommend Rogue Son because the art is beautiful, and the father-son relationship within the story is pretty toxic, but it's also very interesting. It has the greatest plot twist known to man, so yeah, I highly recommend Rogue Son (this is not because I want people to be fans of this comic so I can have friends to talk about it with). Radiant Black really got me back into my Power Rangers phase. I was already obsessed with Power Rangers, and with Radiant Black, it really just got me back into it. It's like if Super Sentai and Power Rangers had a baby, and I love it. The art is immaculate, the colors are beautiful, and the characters are so interesting and three-dimensional. I really just love them, especially Marshall. I want that man in my bed now.
Lastly, Empowered isn't one of the new series; it's been around the block, but I love it. I know people are going to be like, "Cooley, that's such a freaky book! Why do you like it so much?" If y'all know me, you know I'm a freak. To make a good comic, it has to be a little bit freaky to create a good story. You just have to be a little bit freaky, and you have to be a freak in and of yourself. Not only does Empowered mix Japanese style of art and action with comic book style of art and action, but the jokes are funny, the characters are interesting, and I just love her so much. I love Emp, and I love how the story talks about female characters in the comic book industry. Overall, I just had a great time reading the book. It's something you can turn your brain off and just enjoy, so I highly recommend that, too.

Last but not least, I love hack and slash games, and fighting games. My favorite hack and slash has to be No More Heroes, MadWorld, and Devil May Cry. My favorite fighting game would have to be Capcom vs. Marvel, because that was the first game I ever played, and it was honestly amazing. But yeah, those are the games I like.

started watching squid game recently and i've been thinking about the Salesman and his mindset a lot. What if he took in a homeless child? His values make him ruthless and disgusted towards adults who land themselves in bankruptcy, but what about a five year old who's the son of a lady gone to participate in the games, never to return? Would poor children not be victims of circumstance? So maybe the Salesman has a hint of sympathy in him. He sees a child who cannot be blamed for his situation suffering, and gives him a loaf of bread that was meant for his cruel game with the homeless people. He grows a soft spot from the warmth that helping him brings to his heart. The boy teaches him once again how to see through the eyes of others, how to leave small pieces of yourself with everyone who you give so much as a passing thought, and the Salesman learns to be human again. He sees in the boy, who he has come to think of almost as his own son, someone who he used to be and could have been.

after seeing the poll about who in the batfam could be Deaf, I am now obsessed with how the masks could affect their sign. If they use their signing space differently when in the vigilante persona or not. Signing is so distinctive to each person that the code switching they do would be interesting to see play out in their ASL. Also thinking about what family signs the family would use to refer to batshit things in their lives. q
YEAH YOU GET IT.
(the poll in question) i am deeply fascinated by the mechanics in which Deaf culture could play into the Batfam. bc most of them are wearing masks that would heavily inhibit ASL (given ASL is an expressive language) so i think it's more likely they'd use something akin to Makaton or Military Hand Signals that are not a fully developed language, but a communication aid, with a given set of signs for the typical things that need to be communicated in the field. meanwhile they'd be more likely to use ASL casually. (i'm unsure who all in the Batfam is confirmed to know ASL, but i know at the very least Bruce and Tim are)
i'm also very drawn in by the idea of other firms of assistive communication/tech used aside from just ASL. i personally find it believable that the masks of any of the Batfam could include automatic captioning tech that only they see through the inside of the mask, similar to captioning glasses at movie theatres, if they were Deaf/HoH. also how you would modify the concept of comm links to be more accessible, potentially projecting the message visually through the person's mask or maybe a wrist communicator sort of situation, depending on their personal preference. how the Batfam in general would interact with each other if one or multiple of them were Deaf would be heavily shaped and i think it's so fun. and i *love* the thought of personal signs they'd have to come up with bc well, ASL is hardly equipped for their lifestyle. also fun to consider sign names and if sign names are unique to the person or unique to the mantle. (eg, would the sign name for Robin be specific to which Robin, or just the mantle at large) there's so many little things that would change and i just think it's Neat. most people are approaching the poll from the perspective of their character of choice having hearing loss from vigilante work (which is a super valid way to approach it and i love those headcanons) but personally i find it fun if the deafness is a pre-existing condition and already something the Bat has been dealing with for years and thus approaches vigilantism needing to modify their gear slightly from the standard norm. how they could influence how Bruce trains them, emphasizing other senses. how they'd likely be far more tactical on the field, pressing their hands against something to feel for noise, ergo their gloves may be designed to more easily pick up vibration. (cannot tell you how much i do that irl) whether or not they'd hide it from the larger hero world is also an interesting question. it's all a fun internal struggle as well, internalized ableism and all. so much you could do with it!!
