unhinged observation - we all know their colours don't match the traditional ones, but I've never noticed before that on the portraits they put Jeff in red and Virgil in green, but then they swap them over when we actually see them. In fact, //pause while Len goes to look// when they're in TB3, they're all wearing red - like all the space-rated suits, specifically are red. //Goes to check again// and Gordon and Virg are in green with TB2 in the opening rescue to match Jeff as well.
Does that mean, in 2004 verse, they wear whichever colour matches the 'bird they're currently flying because other than them needing 5 suits each... that's pretty cool can't lie good for them
ignoring the fact they look the same, I can be like ??? well yellow must be wetsuits, red is space rated?? Green is ?? tougher maybe, blue is for however many G's TB1 hits a body with when they're going crazy speeds, orange is a spacesuit for living in space etc etc
#Thunderbirds 2004#It's like they're saying 'yeah Jeff's the astronaut' with the portraits which is VERY important to me personally in life#Alan you get yellow bc your first rescue used tb4 congrats ur officially a lil sunshine baby#John you get orange bc you have carrot hair in ur future look out man#Or just bc tb5 has that orange stripe#but it's probably the hair right#Were you all expecting a detailed analysis of the 2004 movie from me this week I bet you werent but here you go!#I've been under a rock for like a year and that tbirds concert hit me with a stick and it's so nice to ???? feel like myself ?????#hello hyperfixation I've missed you#I wonder if swapping colours causes trouble in the field - like - 'that nice man in green helped me!' 'who tf was wearing green today????'#It also implies that they can all fly all of the Thunderbirds whenever needed#which is very practical of them#I love the classic TOS Space Monitor rotation#but I guess orange John has the //handwaves the science// spaaaaace elevator#to rock up home whenever he likes in TAG so there's less need for it

Re: TAG Ep Poll: I think EOS was a very good and interesting character adding building ep but it’s also so far from the norm and not really on brand and would have no right to win at all. How it got this far is pretty perplexing as so many actually amazing eps fell by the wayside which have a better character and action balance.

For Febuwhump day 20 could you possibly featured John down from TB5?
Horizons
For @Febuwhump day 20: I did good?
Scott couldn’t stop shivering but it was nothing to do with the icy temperatures. Their cold weather gear dealt with that. It was the situation. The fact that they were out here, in an avalanche, trying to save families whose skiing trips had just taken the worst possible turn. His hands had been trembling the entire time and Scott couldn’t shake the nausea swirling in his stomach.
“One more family,” Virgil said from beside him. Scott glanced over. His brother was pale, a haunted look in his eye that only the very worst rescues brought out, even though everyone – so far – was accounted for.
Checking they weren’t being watched, Scott gave his brother a quick hug. “You’ve got through this,” he told him.
Virgil managed a hollow smile. “We all have.”
They’d all been needed for this one. But Scott wasn’t sure if that was for the actual rescue or because no one wanted to be left behind. Not this time: not considering the emotional stakes for all of them. He figured his dad had spent the entire time on the comms with Alan, reassuring him everything was okay.
“Ironic, really,” Scott murmured.
“What?” Virgil asked, still leaning against his side. If it gave him the strength he needed to get through this rescue, then Scott was more than happy to oblige.
“Allie. He’s the one that doesn’t remember it, not clearly. He’d probably cope better than the rest of us being out here. Yet this is the one time he’s up on Five.”
Virgil gave a soft huff of understanding, but didn’t say anything. There wasn’t anything he could say.
Scott knew he wasn’t the only one physically feeling this rescue deep in his gut. Gordon had twisted an ankle early on. While he’d usually try and work through it until someone pulled rank, he’d been quick to agree to man Mobile Control from the safety of Two’s pods, handing out thermal blankets and hot drinks as the families slowly trickled in. None of them had called him out on it.
Scott, Virgil, and John had to find the families. Thankfully, there had been good systems in place and the majority had made it to the meeting point. While it had taken all three of them to dig through to the door, they’d found most of their victims waiting for them, safe and warm, despite the horror of the situation. They’d kept everyone on safety lines as they’d moved back down to Two.
But not everyone had made it to the safety point. A few families had left it too late and sheltered in their own chateaus instead. Scott had his back already. Virgil had just delivered his safely to Gordon, and they were waiting on John to come in with the last one now.
Scott hated the snow with a passion. But as well as the terror, the anxiety, and the penetrating cold, he hated how it affected visibility so badly. The skies were still thick with snow-filled clouds waiting to drop their load at any moment, and it disguised the horizon in a way that made him feel lost, like he didn’t have an anchor point to focus on.
It meant when the final family came trudging into view, they were almost upon the brothers before Scott realised they were there. He hurried towards them the best he could given the snow, relieved to see they were roped together as well as holding hands. He counted them and helped Virgil check for any injuries even as the first flakes of snow started to fall.
The family were all accounted for. His, however, was not.
“Where’s our man?” he asked, tone sharper than he’d usually allow on a rescue. “Where’s the person who came to get you?”
The mother and father exchanged looks. The mom stepped forward.
“The roof was coming down,” she explained. “He braced it to give us time to get out but-,”
“No,” Scott breathed.
“I’m so sorry. We tried calling him, but the roof, it had come down, there was so much snow-,”
Scott pushed past her, staring into the white abyss. On any other rescue, that sort of news would make his heart pound. On this one? Scott was sure his heart had stopped.
“Take them to Two,” he told Virgil, tightening the straps on his snow shoes.
“I’m coming with you.” Virgil’s voice was trembling as much as Scott’s hands.
“No. These people need you.”
The snow was starting to fall thicker now.
“We can’t risk them getting lost now. Guide them to Two,” Scott instructed.
“Scott-,”
“I can’t have you out there,” Scott muttered, voice too low to carry. “Not you as well.”
A defiant glare met his words. “And you think we can handle you being out there?”
“Virg, please.” Scott took his arm, drew him off to one side. The family were huddled together, their arms wrapped around one another. “We may need heavy lifting. In these conditions, you’re the only one who can handle Two.”
Virgil looked as if he wanted to argue further. But he couldn’t deny the snow was getting even heavier, visibility worsening by the second. Scott meant what he said: only Virgil had the precision to operate his giant Thunderbird when conditions were like this.
“As soon as we have everyone secured in the pods, we’re coming after you,” Virgil told him in a tone that brokered no arguments.
“F.A.B.”
Scott activated his tracking device as well and Virgil gave him a nod. He turned back to the family and began guiding them in the opposite direction to the way Scott was moving. Scott was aware of Virgil’s long look burning into his back as he walked away, but he didn’t turn around. Virgil was safe. Gordon was safe.
John needed him.
To Scott’s utmost relief, John had also had the foresight to turn his tracker on. Using a hand-held data pad, Scott forced his way through the snow, vision narrowed to immediately in front of him as snow obscured his vision.
“Keep him safe,” he found himself muttering under his breath. “Keep him safe.”
He kept the mantra up with each step. It was getting harder to move but that wasn’t going to stop him. It only took him about ten minutes to reach where the chateaux had been. If it hadn’t been for the snow muffling all sound, they would’ve heard the roof come down from where they’d been standing.
The family had been right. The roof had come down, bringing with it each flake of snow that had landed or hit the house. The walls were barely visible.
“John!”
It wasn’t a professional shout. It wasn’t even a frantic call of a big brother.
It was a scream of pure terror. Scott couldn’t breathe past the pain in his chest. A different view from many years ago was threatening to overlay his vision. Scott dug his nails deep into his palms, using the sharp pain to clear his mind, and started digging.
The snow was so compact that he could pull huge blocks of it away at once. It didn’t take long before he’d carved a space large enough to crawl through. He was sweating from the effort, but knew his short, sharp breaths had nothing to do with exertion.
Crawling in, Scott tried to ignore the suffocating feeling of being surrounded by so much snow. He wiped his visor clear, and came face to face with a boot.
“John? Johnny, can you hear me?”
Scott crawled forward, shoving aside broken tiles and a support that had failed to do its job properly. But he always kept one hand on his brother, terrified that at any moment, John would be torn away from him.
Eventually, he reached his brother’s chest, his shoulders, his head. John’s eyes were closed, his helmet badly dented. Scott brushed the snow off John’s chest, staring desperately to see if it was rising. He couldn’t tell. Tearing off a glove, he peeled back John’s collar, searching desperately for a pulse. He longed to remove John’s helmet, but with the risk of more snow coming down on top of them at any moment, he didn’t dare. It may just be the only thing that stopped him from suffocating.
There!
Yes!
It wasn’t just his own blood pounding, there was definitely a pulse. Even as Scott watched, John’s chest moved as his brother gave a sharp cough, followed by a long groan.
“Johnny?”
“Scott?” John’s eyes opened, bleary and confused.
“I’m here, little brother. I’ve got you.”
There was blood trickling down John’s temple, even with his helmet on. Scott let their visors touch.
“I’ve got you.”
“The family?”
“You got them out, John. They’re safe. They’re with Virgil and Gordon now.”
“I did good?” John said weakly. Scott gave a small laugh.
“Yeah, kiddo. You did really good.”
John’s eyes closed again and he gave a long sigh. “Good.”
“No, no,” Scott scolded, trying to keep his tone light. “Keep those eyes open for me, John. Virg is coming to get us, just stay awake.”
“I’m cold,” John muttered.
“I know.”
Scott shoved away more debris until he could sit behind John, cradling his brother in his lap, letting John’s head rest against his chest. He had no idea if he was holding the man, or the 13-year-old boy with a broken leg as they shouted for their father to find them.
“I’m here. Stay awake for me, okay?”
John made a soft noise that sounded like a confirmation if it wasn’t for his eyes drifting shut again.
“I’m so tired.”
“I know. Tell me how you saved them?” He had to keep John talking until Virgil got here. Until he could get his brother away from this mountain, the cold, and the nightmare of their past.
“I saved them?” John repeated and Scott gave a chuckle.
“Yep. You did. Not your computers or your comms. You, John. Held the roof up while they got out. Just forgot the number one rule which is to always make sure you can get yourself out too.”
“You never remember that rule,” John murmured.
Scott smiled down at him. “Not true. Now come on, tell me how you saved them. That’s an order.”
Perhaps he was buoyed by the pride in Scott’s voice or just knew that he did have to stay awake, but John began to talk. While Scott just hugged him close and reminded himself that he hadn’t lost his brother. Not then and not now.

Some Moments in Ricochet that happened in Thunderbirds Are Go
@thunderversary-rewatch-party
I forgot to mention some things that happened in the episode Ricochet that were referenced in Thunderbirds are Go.
Obviously Falling Skies is a homage to this episode.
With Thunderbird 5 being down is obviously referenced in TAG episode EOS.
Gordon on TB5 happened in TAG episode The Man From TB5
Tin Tin getting the SOS from the pirate TV Station is referenced in TAG episode Avalanche when Alan watching Brandon's Vlog, who was trying to out run a Avalanche.
When Brains and Virgil couldn't decide what to do about the rescue they said "What would Jeff do" is a reference to Scott saying "What would Dad do" in the episode Legacy.
Also when they have to decide either save one life or save multiple lives is referenced in the episode Unplugged when Virgil and Grandma decide to save the woman from the crane and not stop The Hood who had the Universal Grid Codex. Luckily Parker already took the Codex from the Hood but couldn't tell them as he was stuck in the vault.
I already mentioned Alan punching Ricochet off screen was referenced in Tunnels of Time with Scott almost punching Professor Harold.

The Holiday House - Ch7
Family banter! Except without the full family! Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6
Scott was already surprised to hear a knock at his front door this morning, it happened when he had only just come back from his run and was still winding down from the release of pent-up adrenaline. Seeing John at the door was even more of a surprise, the tall ginger said he wanted a private place to rest, and so, Scott let him in, offering ginger tea and breakfast leftovers.
"Sorry, I couldn't fix you some coffee…" Scott watches the lanky brother dump himself across the couch with a novel book in hand. "The grinder kinda broke."
There's a hum in response followed by the sound of paper pages being flipped. Something tells Scott that John's not here to have a brotherly bonding moment.
Sooner than expected, the tea is finished and plopped on the coffee table for Scott to remove. He takes John's empty mug and heads to the kitchen to wash the dishes; a task that masks what he's really doing — spying on John. The said astronaut is lying down on the couch with his book up, but that's not what catches Scott's eye, it's the fact that John is smirking.
"What are you reading?" Scott knows he shouldn't ask, but he can't help it; it's not often he gets to see his space brother grin so widely.
However, it doesn't take long for John to swap his grin for a frown. He flattens the book against his chest and perks his head up from the armrest of the couch, facing the elder brother. "None of your business." John retorts.
All John wanted was some alone time with his curious brothers, he expected the holiday loft to provide some sort of peace from the world with it being so far away from the villa; he didn't take into consideration that a vacational Scott is a dangerous Scott; who just wants to know what his little brother is up to.
Eventually, the dishes are washed, and so Scott sets them up by the solar oven to dry. Using this moment, he turns back around to catch another glance of John: the star-man hasn't moved since the last time he's checked. As if he sensed himself being watched, the book that blocks John's line of sight from Scott is lowered to shoot the elder with glaring daggers.
"Oh, come on… I'm just curious!" Scott protests.
But The Man from TB5 does not respond, instead, he lifts his book back up to his face wordlessly. Scott frowns at the silent treatment, then struts out of the kitchen and down to the dipped living room where he can hover above John and peer down at the book cover, it's not a book he's used to seeing; firstly it's the shape of the book, too small to be a textbook yet too thin to be an autobiography, the colour of the cover stands out with too many intricate patterns.
It's only from that last detail that Scott's eyes widen: John's reading a fiction book.
But why would John be embarrassed about reading fiction? Sure, it's not his usual go-to genre, but everyone once in a while needs a break from reading too much non-fiction. There must be something else going on here. "You're being suspiciously private about your fantasy book, you know that?"
"It's not fantasy." The enticed ginger grumbles from under the brick of paper.
"Oh?" Scott asks in a mocking tone. "So, it's Sci-Fi?"
"…None of your business…"
So, it is Sci-Fi, interesting… Begin The Guessing Game. "Is it thriller?"
Silence.
That must mean it's not. It's been years since the last time Scott played The Guessing Game, he used to play it the most with Virgil who used to tell Scott "It's a surprise!" whenever the younger was drawing art pieces for any certain family member, and Scott would try to guess who the crayon masterpiece was for. Virgil always had specific cues that Scott memorised in order to determine whether he was on the right track or not. John was just a baby at the time, too young to play, but he made a great spectator, always giggling whenever Virgil's ears turned red at the frustration of Scott guessing it right.
"Is it… Comedy?"
Yet more silence. The last time he played The Guessing Game was with Alan, who was about seven or eight years old at the time. He doesn't remember what it was about, but it was definitely to do with a family member. He remembers getting it right, it was something related to Gordon. Ever since that last time with Alan, Scott never got to play The Guessing Game ever again because of new responsibilities being tossed over his shoulders like a burden. Life got too serious for silly children's games after Dad "died".
"Is it romance?"
Wait — there was a split second of hesitation from John — He tensed.
Scott raises an eyebrow. "Is it… Spicy?" He says that last word with a quirky tone and leans over the couch's backrest.
Frustrated, John closes the book once again to glare at Scott, but his ears are red.
Scott's eyes widen. "Oh my god…"
"Shut up."
"I didn't know you read those kinds of books!" Teases the elder, an evil grin grows over his face.
"It was Lady Penelope's recommendation! Leave me alone." Now his entire face is red.
"You and Lady Penelope have a book club for spicy fiction?"
John groans, but the incoherent noise is shadowed by the sound of a bold knock at the front door - as if John showing up to the loft wasn't already a surprise. Scott needs to install some kind of security system to let him know when people are coming. He dips out from the dipped living room and heads to the door to open it, only for the mysterious person to let herself in.
"Kayo?" All it takes is one millisecond of a glance to recognise her sleek, turquoise figure: She's dressed in her usual uniform, her hair tied up in its usual poised position, a small bag gripped firmly in her hand.
"Hello, Scott." Kayo introduces herself with a warm smile that contradicts her naturally stoic tone and strides in. Noticing the redhead lying on the couch, she gives him a respectful nod. "And you, John."
However, John doesn't respond to her greetings, so Scott takes the moment to properly look at her — well, not her — but the small black fabric bag in her hand which she raises to the kitchen island upon noticing the veteran's curiosity.
Aware of his interest, she hums in amusement. "I felt guilty last night when you got upset about the lack of snacks in your grocery bags. So, I brought you some snacks today as compensation. Oh, and by the way John, your brothers have been looking for you all over the villa."
"Tell them I left the island."
Kayo has to stop herself from huffing at the Head of Communication's not-so-stoic response. “That’s not very nice, John.”
But he doesn’t defend himself; too lost in his pages to even care about her response.
“He's been like this all day; stuck in his fictional world, Didn’t even ask for permission to visit me, just pushed past me and barged in on his own,” Scott smirks, fully aware that a good book tends to captivate people and temporarily alter how they react in the real world.
“So did she!”
“At least I barged in bearing gifts, John, what did you bear?”
Scot grins, realising that she's fishing for the other's attention, he decides to join in and inputs: “Nothing, not even a greeting. He didn't even say ‘Hi Scott! How was your first week in the holiday loft?’”
“How rude, John.” Kayo then leans over the counter, elbows resting on the countertop with an almost genuine smile. “Hello, Scott. How was your first week on holiday?” She mocks.
“Well, Kayo, I went skydiving yesterday, so that was cool! And I went rock climbing a few days before that too — nearly died though, because Thunderbird Three decided to launch while I was mid-climb.” He's already told this story before, but it wouldn't hurt to tell it again if it means getting a reaction out of the enchanted brother.
They both stop for a moment to look at the page-gazer whose aquamarine eyes stay firmly zoned in on his world of characters. A smile flits across his face, oblivious to the exchanged glances between the two siblings in the kitchen.
“Wanna know what he’s reading?”
“No.” She shakes her head, grimacing at a resurfacing memory. “Trust me, Scott. That’s the last thing you want to know.”
“So you already know.”
“I always know. How did you find out?”
“I have my ways.” He shrugs, then stops to think about the irony before bringing it up. “I still can’t believe I let this house construction get past me, though. Usually, I don’t let anything get past me.”
"Nothing gets past you — only because nothing gets past me." Kayo smirks,
“Did John and Penelope's taste in fiction get past you?"
"Penelope!?"
“I know right!? Gordon has some great times ahead."
"Scott!"
"What!?" The Tracy innocently shrugs back.
Chapter 8: “I need you to trust me, and jump for it.” Orders John.
I got lost on what to do from here because everything I had planned for this chapter got written out, but the chapter didn't feel finished so I decided to just schedule it to post anyways.
i had fun with the guessing game moment, but the rest of the work kinda just felt dead which is why it took so long to post. nevertheless, chap8 should be more fun

Made the tracy siblings on picrew
+ a little explanation on my choices while making them
scott: look. he's tired, okay? there is no way that this man has 0 scars, he's the front line response and spent time with the military. a pretty boy who lets virgil cut his hair! if the picrew allowed it would have given him some greying hairs.
john: PALE. he may see a sunrise every 90 minutes but he does Not tan. he's pale and covered in freckles as his ginger self should be. is growing out his hair at EOS' suggestion, and also because he doesn't want to cut it up on TB5, in case anything gets into his O2 filters he's not going to have a fun time.
virgil: he's the most altered from canon. he's COVERED in tattoos that he designed (john does the family's tatts, so they have to wait for him to come down to the island before they can get any new ones). He has a hawk that he sometimes gels up into a proper hawk, but its far more common to see it floppy. scott trims his sides in exchange for haircuts. also. constant eyebags for the coffee loving insomniac. (the mouth scar is because baby virg tried to eat a stapler)
gordon: fish! his hair is curly from all the sea salt, which is why he's got curls unlike his straight hair family. most tan of the family because of all his time on the beach, and he's got a shark tooth necklace given to him by someone he rescued. he's about to put salt in virgil's 6th coffee of the day, hence the smirk.
alan: he's still a bit sunburnt from that slingshot, but generous aloe vera is definitely helping! he's still a teenager despite everything he does, so he's got to have some acne! the hoodie was originally one of john's that stopped fitting during a growth spurt, and alan's had it since he was about 7. the bleach stains and cut sleeves followed afterwards. he and john are planning his tattoos for when he turns 18, a bunch of constellations making up a star map.
kayo: she's so so so done. these boys keep being silly and she keeps needing to girlboss them. john's actually the one who taught her how to do her eyeliner (he'd done lady p's during their oxford years), and she's a fan of spacebuns when she wants to dress up a bit more than just day to day. right now she's watching gordon grab the salt, and is trying to decide if this is a "cackle" or "duck for cover" prank.

Ooh, this was such a hard choice!!!
I will be very interested to see the overall winner :)
Which Thunderbirds Are Go episode is better?

Vote on which episode you think is better. Episode synopses below the cut.
Icarus: While the members of International Rescue attend a prestigious global airshow, a test pilot unveils an ultra-fast superjet.
Breakdown: While everyone is organising a surprise birthday party for Virgil, John directs his brother in Thunderbird 2 to a glacial ice shelf to investigate a 'breakdown' emergency call. Virgil quickly discovers that the lone figure he finds on arrival is part of a larger expedition trapped in a cavern beneath the ice. The expedition's leader, a scientist seeking a rare bacterium he desperately needs to cure his daughter of a serious disease, refuses to leave as the glacier begins to crumble, leaving Virgil no choice but to assist before time runs out.
The Man from TB5: Lady Penelope brings John as her guest to a charity event while Gordon and Alan take watch aboard Thunderbird 5. John is out of his element in the large social setting, but his obscurity pays off when The Hood crashes the party.

TAG Transcripts | Masterpost
So, I'm making a start on organising all of my previous content and I'm starting with Transcripts!
And the reason I'm starting with these is because when I came back and was able to look at messages etc (as opposed to the late night reading I made fanfics) there were a lot asking about these with quite a few questions - so firstly, Q & A;
Where can the transcripts be found? They can now be found on this masterpost, but also back on my 2016 post!
Are all the episodes available? Series 1 is complete, Series 2 is mostly complete, Series 3 is unstarted
Will I finish them? Yes, if there is this level of interest of course I will, but episodes can take a while to transcribe so it may not be a quick process!
Do I make a profit? No. This is something I started doing as a fan, for fans as someone who's previously found issues with subtitles not appearing or being incorrect.
Can I download a copy? Yes, from my mediafire links in word or PDF format
Why can't the documents be edited, copy & pasted? The documents are password protected, yes, because a lot of work goes into them and if they're going to be re-distributed I would appreciate the credit or an update of where they're being shared, so no they cannot be directly copied and pasted
Feel free to reblog and share though, Thunderfam, as these were made for you to enjoy!
And before there are questions as to where the link can be found on this masterpost, let's put that here!
Above is the link for the TAG transcripts (I have TOS completed but will post this separately).
What can be found here at the moment:
Series 1
in Word & PDF format
25 files per folder
All episodes completed - Ring of Fire is in one combined set
Series 2
in Word & PDF format
Available episodes - 17; Earthbreaker (1) City Under the Sea (4) Colony (5) Up from the Depths I (6) - will be added shortly (amending pieces) Up from the Depths II (7) Volcano (14) Power Play (15) Bolt from the Blue (16) Attack of the Reptiles (17) Grandma Tourismo (18) Clean Sweap (19) The Man from TB5 (20) Home on the Ranch (21) Long Haul (22) Rigged for Disaster (23) Inferno (24) Hyerspeed (25) Brains vs Brawn (26)
I will aim to finish the episodes outstanding here and then start on Series 3, but this will be amongst all my other work but I will do my best to get there!
Okay, I think this is the part of the post where you can cheer for joy :)

Because it is that time of the year again, I just can't help myself :D
-o-o-o-
Looking back, it really could have happened to any of them. Hell, now it had happened once, it was even more likely it could happen to any of the rest of them, but of course it had to be Virgil and, of course, it had to happen a week before Christmas.
Fortunately, not only Gordon and Alan, but also John was aboard Thunderbird Two when her pilot folded in half with a groan. The great green behemoth responded to his touch and for a second there, the whole ship tipped sideways.
Alan lost his hard-earned sandwich, and Gordon, who had been half asleep in the co-pilot’s chair, despite the coffee he had consumed not five minutes ago, received an adrenalin spike that was well used in the next half an hour or so.
It had been a hard week. Australia was on fire. Every year the drought dried continent suffered and every year International Rescue did all it could to help. Brains had even designed some specialised equipment, deployed through Tracy Industries to help dampen the eucalypt fuel load, but the change of climate over the last hundred odd years had done its damage and the ecosystem suffered for it.
It was painful to watch.
And tiring to fight.
John had taken to coming down not only for Christmas, but for the fires. He had developed a communications network, tied into TB5, to help coordinate the fire services of the country and pin point the hot spots. At the end of the last outbreak, Gordon had been gobsmacked to find his usually reclusive brother sprawled in a chair beside the Australian Fire Defense Network chief, beer in hand, swapping stories.
It had helped that the chief was the middle of five himself and a communications specialist pushed into management. There was much commiseration.
But none of the past really foretold this little hiccup.
Later when Gordon referred to said incident as a ‘hiccup’, Virgil’s eyebrows had frowned so much, they’d physically climbed off his head and slapped Gordon around his.
Or it could have been Virgil’s hand. Gordon was too busy ducking to really identify the body parts his brother was using.
So, with three brothers aboard, Virgil had plenty of back up.
Gordon was fully awake and stabilising Two before he had even had a chance to draw in a breath. They were halfway across the Tasman Sea, finally on the way home for a well-deserved break.
“Virgil?” John was out of his seat and moving towards the pilot.
“Uh, I’m okay.” The man straightened, still in his silver firefighting suit, minus the helmet. A quick look in his brother’s direction and Gordon could see it was all a lie. Even through the soot on Virgil’s face, his brother’s complexion was pale, almost green. “Just a stitch.”
“Doesn’t look like one from here, bro.” Gordon frowned as John gently nudged Virgil back in his seat. The pilot closed his eyes and lay back, his shoulders dropping just a little. John reached over to the console and flicked a couple of switches. Virgil’s vitals sprang up in all their holographic glory.
Even Gordon could see something was seriously wrong. “You have a fever. What the hell, Virg?”
His brother stared at his stats and frowned. “Just thought I was hot.”
No surprise considering the conditions they were working in.
John sighed. “Your suit has active refrigeration, Virgil, you know that. You should be the coolest of all of us.”
If it had been a different situation, Gordon would have then started a ‘discussion’ on who exactly was the coolest or the hottest of the brothers. As it was, another groan from his engineer brother killed all conversation other than medical concern.
“What is it?” John disengaged Virgil’s seat from the dash, pulling it back and giving him access to his older brother.
“My side.” Virgil’s eyes were squeezed shut.
His lower right side.
Five minutes later and Gordon was beelining Two to the nearest hospital, which turned out to be Auckland near the northern tip of New Zealand.
Less than an hour later, Virgil had his very angry appendix removed.
Of all things.
For the past three days, it had been a mixture of firefly pod and fire exo-suit. His brother had been tossing about massive hoses, shifting huge amounts of timber, excavating firebreaks and water bombing from Two.
Apparently, all while suffering from appendicitis.
When Scott arrived on scene, he was a walking facepalm.
When Virgil woke up, it was all kind words for the first hour or so while he recovered from the anaesthetic, but after that, the tongue lashing Scott delivered was enough to strip the paint off the walls of Virgil’s hospital room.
Grandma ended up dragging the man from the room.
Everyone was quiet after that.
No one liked it when Scott got scared.
Least of all Scott.
But even Gordon had to agree that his eldest brother had a point. Appendicitis wasn’t something that didn’t come with symptoms. Virgil admitted that he had noted some pain, but he had been busy. There had been more important things.
Scott’s response to that was only suitable for mature audiences.
Gordon couldn’t help but agree after having to watch his brother writhe in pain on one of his own hover stretchers while they had been on approach to Auckland.
But it had happened when it had happened and everyone was safe, Virgil included. There were much worse scenarios available considering their occupations and the entire family was grateful it had turned out best it could.
Scott was still livid, though, likely because the man was exhausted. They were all exhausted.
Grandma eyed all of them in turn, cornering each of them in their hotel rooms. It didn’t take her more than half a day to conclude that International Rescue needed a well-earned break. Virgil’s illness made a great excuse and her meeting with Scott was short, sharp and to the point.
The Commander of International Rescue contacted the GDF not long after, advising their aunt that their organisation would not be available for the next week. Eos was tasked with redirecting emergency calls after Grandma grabbed John by the scruff of his neck and with an equally sharp word in his ear, grounded the spaceman beside his brothers.
Virgil received a few glares, but the tired man just rolled over awkwardly and went back to sleep. Apparently, he agreed with Grandma.
Always did, the big Grandma softie.
Except perhaps with her cooking, but that led Virgil to being the biggest victim in that department because despite his incapacity to lie, he would do anything for the woman.
Virgil was released from the hospital a day after his surgery and they helped him back to their hotel rooms and set him up with the holoprojector and an appropriate stash of snacks and engineering journals. Kayo even bought him a sketchbook and an array of art materials.
For two days, the brothers hung out with him or darted out to the shops for convenience’s sake. Copious amounts of takeout were consumed, a treat they were often denied on the Island. But ultimately five usually very active men got very bored very quickly.
They couldn’t go home, because Virgil wasn’t allowed to fly. His operation excluded air travel for at least seven days, which meant, to add insult to injury, they would be stuck on the mainland for Christmas Day.
Their first Christmas off in who knew how many years, and they couldn’t even share it at home.
John distracted himself by linking in with Eos and helping out with emergency calls...until Grandma discovered him and rounded on both him and Eos with the ire Scott had managed to inherit.
Both father and daughter behaved after that, Eos a little stunned at the power of the eldest Tracy.
Alan dove into his computer games and hermitized. Gordon could only swim so much, so resorted to pranking Alan, which ended up in the brawl of the century and half the penthouse draped in toilet paper.
Scott turned to Tracy Industries and began phone calls that lasted hours. Virgil sent Gordon to chase him down.
Scott quite frankly ignored him, which led to Virgil hauling himself off the couch and doing the chasing himself.
That led to a screaming match that ended with both men pale when Virgil twisted angrily and groaned as he pulled at his stitches.
The atmosphere plummeted after that and the whole penthouse floor deteriorated into a sullen gloom.
It was shaping up to be an ass of a Christmas.
Until Gordon had an idea.

WIP Wednesday!
Never done one of these (mostly because I never actually thought of it in time for a Wednesday), but they’ve always looked fun. And when am I not going to take the chance to ramble about my own writing? I love hearing what people think about it.
My biggest and most favourite headcanon is that John is autistic.
So this is very based off of that. And the fact that I am autistic and want to read and write about autistic characters!
It’s set after The Man From TB5 episode, because I just watched it twice in a row (yes back to back, I’d been having A Day), because I love it. So much John!
And I wanted to write John just unwinding after it, because parties are Exhausting, but then it kinda grew a bit from there. (Because Characters keep having Feelings and I am evidently incapable of writing just fluff because it always morphs into some kind of hurt/comfort something.) And John does not know that he is autistic yet. (I’d hope by 2060 we’d be a lot better at figuring this out and actually supporting people, but this was how the fic was going.)
@amistrio I started replying to you but then I started writing fic!
Bits of Amistrio and my discussion because we both have this headcanon if you want to hear more Here.
I’ve been poking about this a bunch today because I’m excited. Even to the point of typing on my phone on the bus. I’ve got most of the parts I want to include down, but I just need to get them in a coherent order. So here’s the first bit!
Enjoy Thunderfam! *waves in particular to the neurodivergent ones*
-----
((Set after ‘The Man From TB5′ episode.))
John flopped down in the passenger seat of Thunderbird One with all the gracelessness of not expecting gravity to be there. He tipped his head back to lean on the head rest, closing his eyes against the everything.
Scott’s voice came from the front of the ship. “So, how was it?”
John cracked his eyes back open
“No fatalities,” he reported, “The mission was a success in spite of the structural damage.”
“I meant the party, but good to hear,” Scott replied.
Oh. He had thought— well, Scott could have been more specific. (Or John could be less literal, that would help.)
The party.
Because that’s what it had been. Instead of the small charity auction he was expecting, there had been a massive gathering of people: all talking, drinking, socialising. His idea of a worst nightmare.
“It’s me, Scott. How do you think it went?” John said flatly.
Scott made a sympathetic noise. “You did seem pretty eager to get out of there.”
Under the light teasing, his brother knew that this type of Situation was not John’s forte.
He’d hauled John up into Thunderbird One when it became clear John would rather climb the grapple cable than be put down on the platform, full of jostling clamouring people wanting to crowd around him to congratulate their rescuer now the danger was over.
John’s heart was still racing. Whether it was more from the adrenaline in his bloodstream after his fall from the sky or the idea of nearly being back amongst all of that again, it was impossible for him to tell.
He took a deep breath.
Thunderbird One’s jets roared, the noise from the engines thrumming through the cahelium. John shifted in his seat. The sound scraped against his ears and vibrated through his body, setting him on edge. He could feel it in his teeth.
John took another deep breath.

Thunderbirds Rewatch 7th Week
@thunderversary-rewatch-party
Heavy Metal
Brains and Alan visit Professor Moffat at the Quantum Research Centre in Switzerland which has a Supreme Hadron Collider.
Did they actually fly all the way from Tracy Island to Switzerland in that pod.
I think it's pretty cute that Brains has a crush on Professor Moffat.
Alan is certainly a little kid as he gets excited about pushing start button on the collider.
Loves that he blows a raspberry because nothing dramatic happens.
Some sort of meteorite has hit New Geneva, I wonder what happened to the old Geneva.
Turns out it was a GDF satellite that has come down.
Lol Alan blames it on The Hood.
Now a plane is coming down, Scott comes to its rescue but gets caught in this strange anomaly, turns out they are caught in gravity well.
I love that Alan can work out how to get Scott out of the Gravity Well.
Poor Alan, he now knows it's not The Hood that caused it but it's actually his fault as he pressed the button.
But if Professor Moffat knew there were issues, why did she let him start the Collider off in the first place, so technically it was her fault and not Alan's
Now the World Wide Space Station is caught in the Gravity Well
Thunderbird 4 is now used to try stop the Gravity Well.
But Thunderbird 2 gets caught in the Gravity Well. Alan tries to use the pod to steady TB2 but it doesn't work as it's too tiny and TB1 comes in for the save.
Gordon blows up the collider as Brains and Professor Moffat couldn't decide how to stop it.
This is a pretty cool shot of them here.
Love that Alan making a joke that Gordon looks a little shorter and he actually checks himself.
Brains says that he will help Professor Moffat a new Hadron Collider. We will see Moffat again in Heist Society.
Falling Skies
Lady Penelope and Parker visit a new space hotel which Brains help build.
A reporter asks Lady Penelope if the the Space Hotel is unsafe is true and there is a video of a man protesting over the hotels safety.
Suddenly, the hotel springs a leak and is out of control.
Brains starts to blame himself but Grandma says it's not his fault and helps Brains think what the problem is.
Alan stops the Hotel from spinning out of control.
But then there is another breech and goes out of control again.
They decide to get the people out using escape pods but then the escape pods are released too early with no one in them.
Virgil picks up Gordon in Thunderbird 4 who was at the bottom of the ocean for 2 weeks. What was he doing for 2 weeks???
As he wore the same suit for 2 weeks, he smells. When he hears that he might come across Lady Penelope, he goes to take a show but as a joke Virgil disables it.
Kayo goes to investigate the hotel and another leak is formed and she comes across the saboteur, which turns out to be The Hood.
Pen and Ink moment.
When Penny arrives in TB3 Gordon gives her a salute
But when they are face to face, he still stinks, even with a fresh uniform on.
Apparently The Hood sabotaged the Hotel because it would put him out the construction business and he's even willing to kill people (in the space Hotel and in Florida) to do it. So I assume this could be classed as a terrorist attack
The Hoods device is used to destroy the hotel before it hits the ground in Florida.
I love them seeing them altogether like this.
With Gordon now clean, he tells Virgil that there will be payback.
Ricochet
A pirate tv station, with 2 people inside, is in space and it gets hit by a rocket and is now damaged and falling to earth.
Tin Tin watching the Pirate TV on her portable TV
Trouble in Paradise, Alan seems to be Jealous of Ricochet.
A rocket is launched into space and it becomes faulty so it has to be blown up but the the Pirate TV station is caught in the blast.
This is strange, (and i'm not talking about Virgil's voice) Virgil is piloting TB3!!! maybe Alan in on TB5.
Apparently TB5 is having some problems and Gordon!!! yes Gordon!!! is there helping John. It's seems Alan is having a lazy day.
Oh man I wish I could gif this moment of Tin Tin dancing.
Alan is a pain in the arse in this episode. he arguing with Tin Tin over this TV station.
Gordon and John are still fixing TB5
The 2 guys in the tv station, one of them is trapped in the airlock, send out a SOS, Tin Tin hears it and lets everyone know.
Can someone slap Alan, he's still moaning about this Ricochet guy and doesn't want deal with him.
Alan rescues the first guy from the trapped airlock and goes back for Ricochet but he's panicking.
Virgil and Brains have to destroy the TV station in the air because if it hits the ground it will cause wide spread damage. They think Ricochet is still on board because it is still transmitting and they can't check because TB5 is still down, so they have to make a difficult decision to save the people on the ground and destroy the TV station with Ricochet still on board.
LOL, Turns out Alan did save Ricochet, he refused to leave, so Alan had to punch him to get him out and Alan is smug about it.
What I find funny about this is that Alan's original voice actor who played Professor Harold in Tunnels in Time in TAG almost gets punched by Scott.

TAG MBTI
Since I got into MBTI a few months ago, I've been trying to type every single person I know - real or imaginary. There are quite a few people out there like me who like typing TV characters, but there have been very few sources out there that talk about the MBTI of the 2015 Thunderbirds Are Go series. So I thought I'd discuss my thoughts on a few more controversial (main) characters on TAG. Keep in mind that these are just my thoughts, and may not be 100% aligned with the theories. This is all in good fun.
Disclaimer: as Gordon and Alan's types are quite straightforward and widely accepted, I will not be discussing them.
Most commonly accepted types:
Scott: ENTJ/ESTP
Virgil: ISFP
John: INTP
Gordon: ESFP
Alan: ISFJ
The Hood: INTJ
Not confirmed:
Kayo: ISTP/INTJ
Starting off with Scotty. People (myself included) call him the Commander, ie. ENTJ according to the 16 Personalities website. I've done the test myself on his behalf (self-righteous me haha) and the results are quite conclusive: ENTJ. This is quite accurate, given his decisive demeanour in the field which corresponds with dominant Te. That's why I think ESTJ wouldn't be too far off either.
As for ESTP, they're known to be very spontaneous (and frankly, crazy...no offence intended!) The main reason people get this idea is because of certain episodes (High Strung) that suggest Scott was something of a 'thrill junkie' as a younger person. However, the episode also suggests he is not proud of his past and is not like that anymore (or at least tries not to be). So my conclusion is that he has grown into his role as head of IR, which requires an ENTJ personality, while suppressing the extraverted sensing which is dominant in an ESTP.
Next up, Virgil. Virg's known to be the family artist, and ISFPs are the stereotypical artists. In that sense, ISFP is pretty correct - but Virgil doesn't exactly strike me as (and I'm making a big generalisation here) a crybaby. So what are the alternatives? First, I'd agree he's mostly an introvert, though he sometimes does give off a more E energy. Next, I'd say that he could he either intuitive or sensing, and he seems like the kind of guy to come up with a plan at the scene. So I'd go so far as to say he could be an INTP. Conclusion: ISFP/INTP.
Now with Johnny, most people can agree that he's INTP. I once read somewhere that he's INFP, however, which I thought was interesting - INFPs have the stereotype of being ignored all the time, which relates to John's situation of being the guy stuck on the lonely space station and the middle child. But it doesn't feel as if he has dominant Fi, so I agree with the opinion that he's INTP. INTPs are stereotypically nerdy, and although John isn't a complete dork, he is shown to be afraid of crowds (and in general, people!) particularly in episodes such as The Man From TB5. So INTP is fair.
Kayo is an interesting case. I have found literally zero consensus on the net on Kayo's MBTI, so I have just gone ahead and typed her as ISTP/INTJ.
Kayo is, how shall we say it, very cool. Even aloof, like an ISTP, the typical lone wolf or cool guy. ISTPs also tend to have good street smarts, being very versatile quick learners. That is what makes them good candidates for being spies, or in Kayo's case, covert ops. She's formidable because of her skills, quick thinking and determination in protecting her ideals (her insisting that IR get involved in the 'bad guy catching business') - dominant Ti.
Some people also think she's an INTJ for obvious reasons. In Legacy, she reveals she has all sorts of contingency plans for Tracy Island, and even her uncle, the great mastermind, fell into her trap. That sort of scheming is very INTJ. It's probably an influence of her having the Hood as her uncle.
You could argue that Kayo is completely INTJ, and I'd say that's possible as well. The reason I've put ISTP is that some of the things she does are a bit too physical and real-world, things that typical INTJs would die from. Of course, she could be an Fi and Se developed INTJ. It depends on how you look at it.
Now finally...our favourite villain, Hoodie Guy. INTJ, the mastermind. No one can deny that the Hood is the ultimate criminal mastermind, with his scheming plots and evil smirk (!) However, there are some qualities he has that aren't exactly INTJ, which is why I'd argue that he's an INTJ/ENTJ hybrid.
First, he's very impatient. We see this in a lot of episodes, and in Signals Part 2 he even admits he was short-sighted (and therefore impatient) to have tried to commandeer a Thunderbird. That's quite unlike an INTJ, who must be patient in waiting for their plots to unfold over time. The Hood is almost too rash to be an INTJ.
Secondly, INTJs are known for being cold and calculated, and although the Hood is that, he's also very personal. And by personal I mean he gets very hung up on personal vendettas, namely the one against Jeff Tracy. INTJs don't usually put the focus on people - unless the person is merely an obstacle in the way of them getting what they want. They do not act on impulse - dominant Ni ensures that. ENTJs, however, can be 'personal'. They have vendettas, and they will use dominant Te to act even if it's not exactly wise.
Finally, he's too famous. INTJs do not thrust themselves into the spotlight as the Hood did even in the first episode - that is way too not subtle for INTJs, who work from the shadows and get what they want without anyone being the wiser. ENTJs, on the other hand, are known and feared by the world. Sound familiar?
Of course, the many cliffhangers we get informing us the Hood has gotten exactly what he planned tells us he's still an INTJ - but not entirely. Things like personality typing are never black and white, and no one is completely 100% one type or another.
