The dawn of a new century shepherded in a liberated shift in women's hair fashions. The Titus Cut or coiffure á la Titus was a short, unisex hairstyle that boomed in popularity in the first ten years of the 1800s. Coinciding with the turn toward classicism in fashion, the simple style of the Titus was an outward demonstration that the wearer was shunning aristocratic excess.
