Two nice things this morning:
My new driver's licence came in the post, the photo's not bad and in fact my hair looks really good. I pulled off a Veronica Lake. I was really anxious about the way I looked that day so it's a relief as well as satisfying.
I just bought a new suit for autumn/winter and my mum just came to me excited and happy to show me a picture in a magazine she's reading of Jenna Ortega wearing a suit just like mine.
Then she had to ask me who Jenna Ortega is, but it was clear from the context that she was someone very smart and fashionable.
#I could only really say 'she's an actress' because i don't think she's ever heard of wednesday or death of a unicorn either#let alone 'she did the voice of brooklynn in camp cretaceous but they changed the voice actor for the sequel series chaos theory#and some fans were upset but I didn't actually notice the difference until I paused the end credits one day#to confirm that I just really saw 'isabella rosselini' in the cast list of my jurassic park cartoon show'#this reminds me i never did see beetlejuice beetlejuice#but I want to watch asterflix today#i'm not sure how i will feel about the fact that it uses modern music needle drops for comic effect#like part of the POINT of asterix's humour has always been projecting the present onto the past#and making up silly ancient versions of modern things#flintstones style#but 'boombastic'?#i think what's different for me is that it's not actually a silly ancient version of a modern thing like the band the rolling menhirs#(sorry the french but the rolling menhirs was a much funnier favourite band for justforkix than 'les monkiix')#(although perhaps not quite in character as justforkix is clearly a mod)#oh my gosh I have a really good asterix joke name okay okay#mods liked the who#the asterix version would be the quo#(yes I realise that's the ablative and doesn't quite mean 'who')#('the quod' would be more grammatical but wouldn't end in o like who so it's less funny visually)#damn I've just realised this doesn't work because fans of the band status quo call them 'the quo' so that's taken#well you've been on this journey with me from triumph to defeat#but what's really important is my hair looks good on my driver's licence and my mum was excited to show me jenna ortega's suit like mine

I finished my retelling of Veilguard through Ellana's eyes and my god, I think the weight of the ending finally hit me. I got teary-eyed writing it in a way I didn't while playing it. Now it actually feels like her ending.
If anyone wants to get into my feels with me, the two poems I reread as I wrote the final section are "An Irish Airman foresees his Death" by William Butler Yeats and "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley. The Yeats poem in particular has been important to my characterization of Ellana at turning points in the other journeys I have written about her over the years (particularly at the climax of in Awakened).

i keep turning it around in my head but there rly is no way magpie leaves the crows entirely. she simply wouldn’t. viago is in there. which means i guess in order for her to have a truly happy ending the crows just have to start sucking a little less?
#i do think the crows are probably like…… marginally better than the crows zevran described two decades ago#but idk that i buy the sanitized version of the crows veilguard tries to sell us#maybe in some houses things are better than others?#maybe since coming into power teia and viago have made things Less Heinous for their fledglings?#i do think that makes some strategic sense for viago. seeing as he’s Least Likeable Guy In Antiva and insane.#like if he could buy loyalty from the new crows who recognize He’s the one who provided them a little relief when they were training#well that could get him somewhere.#Would he do that? questionable at best. i’m still on my viago understander journey#also consider in general though: none of my dragon age characters get Truly Happy endings.#only happy enough. so like if magpie is fucked well that’s her problem.#漫言

tryin to figure out how to draw this guy. i don’t know why he’s in bisexual colours i just went with a purple colour scheme and it ended up looking like that. i also don’t know What version of odysseus this is so feel free to choose. i vaguely based him on descriptions i remembered from the odyssey but also i was far too tired to remember them accurately. it’s waist up so you don’t get his sick ass thighs and that’s what I remembered most lol.

i love 13 going on 30 have i mentioned this

#sooo baaad even if i graduate in summer theyre not giving me the diploma til end of 2024??#lets all brainstorm how i can get shu's human comedy monologue up on a poster advertising the grad show... for funsies really#its in my intro to the essay but it doesnt really have much to do with the visuals. which is what i'll need to submit for the posters#hmm well... no thatd look bad. i could go open indesign now but i dont want to i wanna go homeee#ive given up on caring about the project im just committed to the bit the target audience is me myself and its my requiem to art#but ive been telling people about my visual project and they all said theyre really excited to see it...? but it takes me months#of severe despair to get a good concept sorted out. im glad they all said they cant wait to see it... im curious myself#tomorrow ill try to play with recording it. then really lock in to the visuals#what are we thinking. digital spaceship or a real life installation?#the setting is you as the audience are an intergalactic truck driver passing by earth tuning in to the radio listening to a professor#studying humans give a talk about them. mini podcast ig? intergalactic cultural radio vibes?#you get it#so the audio is quite important but then also the setting#do i make it digital and ppl put on headphones and watch a screen?#or do i make it an installation irl#it wouldve been quite good if i made it in vr but i have 3 weeks no experience in the medium and um. well. yeah#i think it's a nice goodbye since i get to project my views on humanity through the alien and also he's a revamped version of#my first ever proper oc. carl the alien#isnt that a nice way to end this journey for now? i think so.

#love for sale#choe si-eon#lee namwoo#my text#im sure theres other ways to romanize their names but ima go with the versions i read#but for real i really dug how mature the story felt#and how interestingly arospec the ml felt despite being the one instigating the getting together#it felt like a true exploration of a romance favorable arospec person that didnt make it feel like a wallowing in the idea of#“woe is me i cant reciprocate! we shant be together!” or “i never actually wanted it in the first place!”#bc si-eon did want to enter romantic relationships! he enjoyed the framework of it!#its just that he never had any romantic frenzy internally and approached it more as a method of caring for another person and being content#but his journey to a demiromantic awakening after learning how to prioritize his own selfish desires (/pos) felt very good imo#i did kinda figure it would have a demi conclusion and reciprocation would happen#but im glad that it wasnt like a “oh ive always been capable of this” but moreso a “i can only experience this bc of this specific person-#-and circumstance“ which is indeed an aro spec experience for some#its not like the story ended in a way that made it feel like just bc si-eon is more healed now that he'll suddenly get consistent-#-and normative allo crushes on random people. it really feels conditional to his experience with the mc lee namwoo#also lee namwoo hot and cute and the art was fire 9/10 wish it was even longer#also whenever their chibi selves were onscreen i imagine they spunded like high pitched mosquitoes talking to each other

i literally use my laptop once-twice a month only, exclusively to pay bills 😭 it's the only thing keeping the laptop alive 😭
#to be fair my bank's desktop version website has many more functions available than its phone app so it's justified#but literally up until a few years back i was still afraid to like. buy clothes and etc. on mobile 😭 it had to happen on laptop 😭#also my mum is way more tech-savvy than me and she was the one who taught me how to use blik for example#EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!!#(blik are fast phone payments)#anonymous#a response#tl;dr it is an Effort but i still do it. btw today i paid the bills for the flat i'm renting for the very last time :')#moving at the end of the month......
