I think the show has a good narrative set up to dodge around Disney censorship while also telling an emotionally satisfying story.

If the core thrust of the season is for Agatha, "the covenless witch," to heal the primal wound of that rejection/trauma and have a coven again, then there's already something delightfully queer about that as a journey toward growth, yeah? An all female coven is kind of inherently queer and socially stigmatized due to that.

And if, at the same time, Rio turns out to have been trying to help (in her oblique way) and she and Agatha still clearly have feelings for each other -- sexy feelings, both passionately aggro and otherwise -- then that can be the great queer subtext that plays into that resolution and allows for us to spin things off further in fanfic and fanart.

It sucks that Disney is a monopoly and that artists have to work within their boundaries in order to have a job, but I think there's the potential to play with those boundaries and still do something good with BOTH explicitly canon queer characters and queer coding/intentional subtext for the main character.

That is what I see as a very real possibility, given both the narrative so far and the limits I'm aware of from Disney. Is it my ideal? No. But we do not live in an ideal world and the artists are not working under the conditions they wish they could. It is what it is.

My first work in game dev was working with friends (without a contract; don’t ever do this; we are no longer friends) on a project and being the one delegated to writing item descriptions.

The only rule was they had to be 100 characters max (ideally 90 characters or less)

I had nothing to work with besides pictures and the region the item was from. So I just wrote whatever the image inspired.

Decades later, long after I demanded back pay after realizing I was the sole member of the team not listed in the LLC registry (because “anyone can write”) and left the project, I found out fans are still debating what my 400~ items descriptions mean and if they’re hints to some kind of secret.

And the truth is I was pulling shit out of my ass the entire time, never really expecting the project to take off because it stagnated for years before suddenly getting a wildly successful Kickstarter.

And then when I said, “cool, now you can pay me” I was told they hadn’t budgeted for writing and the project lead tried to guilt trip me saying she’d have to pay me out of pocket.

I said okay, do that. :)

The only real secret is the gods of the world are based on our old world of warcraft characters (for a time they even had our character names but that was scrapped because people started stalking the lead during the alpha test) and the one based off my undead rogue is still causing problems to this day. When I heard mine was responsible for them officially banning body horror I laughed so hard.

Wonder if Val and Velvette would rebrand VoxTek to just VTek. It feels like a betrayal, but keeping Vox’s name on it makes people ask where he is. It’s just easier to lead the public to believe that he died during his encounter with Alastor rather than have to actually answer that question.

i don’t think you realize that NDAs can’t legally cover up crimes. like if someone signed an NDA, witnessed a crime, and then told authorities about it, they can’t get in trouble for breaking the NDA bc that’s not what NDAs do. if it worked that way everyone who commits crimes like forcing gay men to fake heterosexuality & paternity would just convince people to sign NDAs first before committing them.

And i don't think you realise how many times i have explained that it isn't a crime to willingly, conciously and knowingly sign a contract that gives control of your image and brand management over to a label in order for them to make you the most profitable product they can so you both can make a fuckton of money. You may not realise until later that they market you as straight when you're gay, and make you stunt to keep up the pretences, and you can regret it as much as you want and not agree to it, but you willingly signed a contract and your rights away.

You've seen these contracts, i've linked to them many times. They exist. The NDA/confidentiality agreement just states that you're not allowed to talk about the details of the contract or say anything that goes against the image they've given you. Because that's a breach of contract. You have to grin and bear it. The dollars are rolling in.

I've explained this so many times now that i frankly don't understand why you still don't get it. There is no crime. H and L's got good lawyers. If there was a way out of it they'd be out of it a long time ago. The number of ex-Syco artists that have called out the contracts is astonishing. Jedward called 1D "legally fucked".

I know it's bloody frustrating, but don't take it out on me. If you still don't get it, read up on my contacts tag. I've explained this many, many times before.
