Here’s a question many coffee enthusiasts ask: Does convenience compromise quality? Absolutely not! The Nespresso Vertuo Variety Pack proves that you don’t have to sacrifice taste for ease of use. Each blend is carefully curated to highlight its unique characteristics:
Stormio (Intensity 8): For those who love a bold, robust flavor with hints of cocoa and toasted notes.
Odacio (Intensity 7): A slightly milder option with fruity undertones and a velvety finish.

Whether you prefer your coffee piping hot or poured over ice, the possibilities are endless.
And here’s the best part: You don’t need to spend hours researching which pods to buy. By opting for the Nespresso Vertuo Variety Pack , you’re getting a curated selection of the brand’s top blends, saving you time and effort.
Are There Any Downsides?
No product is perfect, and it’s only fair to address potential drawbacks. One thing to keep in mind is that these pods are compatible only with the Nespresso VertuoLine system. So, if you own an OriginalLine machine, you’ll need to upgrade to take advantage of this variety pack. However, considering the superior taste and convenience offered by the VertuoLine system, many users find the investment worthwhile.
Another consideration is cost. While these pods may seem pricier than traditional ground coffee, the value lies in the unparalleled quality and convenience they offer. Think of it as investing in your daily happiness—one delicious cup at a time.

Mild NSFW warning
No. 1: What else?
"Let's see…" His finger glides over the capsules. "A hint of chocolate?"
"In the caf?" you say, flinching at the excitement in your voice.
"Yes. I think… this one will be to your enjoyment." He takes one of the capsules and inserts it into the machine. The device produces a low, elegant humming, unlike your own caf machine that always gurgles like it's choking on a bolt. A soft hissing accompanies the foaming milk.
Yes, this is the Nespresso one!
You have a late night shift working for the Chancellor and are at risk of falling asleep. You want to grab a cheap cup of caf [canon coffee] from the cantina, but Palpatine won't stand for it. As a man of taste, he makes you a cup with his fancy Nespresso caf machine.
I think it's going to start as fluff and then shift to smut
###
No. 2: Migraine
“What a terrible host I am, making you take care of yourself while you’re so sick.”
You groan softly, your heart pounding impossibly fast. For a moment you wonder if migraines can cause hallucinations. But his breath on your hair tells you that this is very much real.
“Just ask, darling. Ask for my help.”
“P…Please…”
“Good girl. Now, let’s get you properly taken care of.”
You've been asked to speak to the senate on your area of expertise. But while preparing your presentation with Chancellor Palpatine, you get a migraine. You need to get better fast, and there is one remedy that's known to be particularly effective *wink wink*. When you can't get the job done yourself, Palpatine steps in to help.
###
No. 3: #10 from the prompts list
“If you let me, I could show you how a lady is supposed to be treated.” He gently takes your hand and places a kiss on your knuckles. “Where would we be if we didn’t turn accidents into fortune?”
You were supposed to submit a file to the Chancellor, but instead, you accidentally dropped off a spicy picture of yourself. You sneak into the office and successfully retrieve it. You bump into Palpatine on the way out and lie about what you were doing. You think you've managed to deceive him. But did you really?
Or: Palpatine is a bit spiteful that the picture isn't meant for him but for some low-life ex boyfriend who broke your heart. He intends to show you why he should have been the rightful recipient.

「 Masterlist 」
Pairing: Miya Atsumu x reader
Prompt: I did that annoying thing where I put a bunch of smaller boxes inside one big box and you’re getting really mad, but you don’t know that a ring is in the smallest box and I can’t wait to see your face.
WC: 1.3k
A/N: I looooved writing this one!!! I wrote it just a few days ago and when I say I was s w o o n i n g. Mayhaps I’ve fallen for Atsumu just a little too hard, I’ll see myself out. (And if you’re wondering if I had to google what the holes in waffles are called, mind ya business)
You’ve been here for a little over a week now, and every morning when you wake up it still takes you a few moments to remember: It’s winter break. You’re spending it with Atsumu in his apartment. He’s asleep next to you. This isn’t a dream.
This morning when you wake up, though, Atsumu isn’t asleep. When you roll over, he’s watching you, chin resting on his crossed arms. A slow smile spreads across his face when he sees you’re awake.
“Mornin’,” His drawl is still heavy with sleep. “Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas,” You echo, letting out a soft giggle when he reaches out to brush a wayward strand of hair away from your face. For a few moments, he lets his palm rest on your cheek, something soft settling on his features. You reach up and link your fingers with his, and he leans forward to press a kiss to your lips.
“You ready to start breakfast?” He asks as he pulls away. You shake your head and smile.
“Hungry, are we?” You hum with a chuckle.
“Always,” He nods, throwing the blanket aside. “And besides, we’d better get started if we want t’ get to yer parents’ on time.”
You agree, rolling out of bed with a groan. You have to admit, being here with Atsumu is miles better than the tiny apartment you’re staying in while you finish university. It’s cramped and outdated in comparison, but until you graduate at the end of the year, it will have to do.
Atsumu’s kitchen is well-equipped with appliances and gadgets, half of which you’re convinced he’s never used, but you’ve certainly been making good use of them in the time you’ve been here. Now, he pulls out the waffle maker while you start mixing the batter. The scent of the coffee brewing in the pot is filling the kitchen, and it’s comfortable to work alongside of Atsumu like this. You can’t help but think that it’s certainly something you could get used to.
“This looks amazing,” He says, reaching for his fork and stabbing a waffle the moment the food is on the table. You take a sip of your orange juice and watch with a small smile as he pours syrup on his waffles, carefully filling each pocket.
“Mmm,” He hums to himself in pure delight as he takes the first huge bite. You spread butter and syrup on your own waffle, and soon you’re digging in as well. “Thanks fer makin’ breakfast,” He says as he helps himself to another serving. He’s said the same thing at nearly every meal, and you always brush it off.
“I like cooking, you know that.” You shrug. “And besides, doing it in your kitchen is a treat.”
He grins. “Yeah? I’m glad.” He pushes his plate away with a satisfied groan. “I’m so full. How about we open our presents now?” He looks at you hopefully.
“Someone’s eager,” You laugh, “I don’t know what you think I got you, but I promise it’s not really that exciting.”
“I’m excited for you to open your present!” He insists, standing to put his plate and cup in the sink. You follow suit, and then the two of you make your way to the living room and the tiny tree set up there. The box with your name on it doesn’t even fit underneath it, so it’s setting right beside it.
You can’t lie – you’ve been side-eyeing this box ever since it appeared by the tree. You have a few guesses as to what it could be. Maybe it’s that Nespresso machine you’ve been hinting after, or that box set bundle of your favorite series that you’ve had in your Amazon cart for four months now. Maybe, you let yourself hope, it’s that special edition console that was just released a week ago. Of course, if it is, your present for Atsumu will pale in comparison.
You pick up the small box. “Here, open yours first,” You hand it to him and take the seat next to him on the couch.
“Okay,” He agrees quickly, carefully pulling on the ribbon until it comes undone. He unwraps the box and lifts the lid, revealing the watch you’d picked out for him. You lean in hopefully, watching his face for his reaction.
“I thought you needed a nice watch. For when you go to dinners and stuff,” You explain as he lifts it out of the box.
“It’s perfect,” He grins, immediately putting it on and adjusting it on his wrist. It looks almost comical with his mismatched pajamas. “Thank you, baby. I love it.” He leans in and presses a kiss to your lips, but pulls back quickly and grabs the box from the floor. “Now your turn!” He hands you the box and perches on the edge of the couch cushion, eyes glued to you.
You pull back the wrapping paper, revealing a nondescript box. When you pry it open and peer inside, you see… another wrapped box. “Ah,” You pull it out slowly. “Very funny.” You glance at him, and he’s still just watching you, lower lip pulled slightly between his teeth. You peel the wrapping paper off of the next box and open it, only to find yet another wrapped box inside. “Tsumu,” You can’t help but sigh.
“Just open it!” He presses, leaning a little further forward. You do as he says, and you aren’t quite as surprised to find yet another smaller wrapped box inside. You’re starting to wonder how long he’s been collecting these boxes. Resignedly, you mentally cross off your hopes for the gift as the size of the boxes decreases.
“What is this?” You finally frown when you pull out what you hope is the last box. He’s sitting with his chin in his hand and his fingers covering his grin, and he gestures with a jerk of his head for you to open it. “Seems like an awful lot of work for a pair of air pods or something,” You mutter, picking at the tape he’s generously wrapped the box in. It takes you some time to peel the layers away. Atsumu is surprisingly silent during this ordeal. For such an elaborate prank, you’d expect him to be goading you a little more.
Finally, you get the tape peeled away. This box is about the same size as the one his watch had come in. You lift the lid, and it isn’t the fancy wireless ear buds you’d started to expect. Instead, it’s a felt-covered box. Slowly, you lift it out, realization starting to dawn on you. When you look up, Atsumu has slid down to the floor in front of you, propped up on one knee. He plucks the box from your surprised fingers and cracks it open to reveal a beautiful, intricately designed ring.
He clears his throat. “Y/N, I love you so much. I know bein’ with me isn’t always easy, but for some reason you’ve stuck around. And I’m glad ya did.” He pauses to huff out a nervous chuckle. “So if you’ll have me, it’d seriously make me the happiest man in the world if ya’d agree to marry me.”
Your fingers have flown to your lips. “Tsumu!” You squeak out between them. “Yes. Yes! Of course I will!” You slide off the couch too and throw your arms around his neck. Immediately, he pulls you close, pressing his face into the crook of your neck for a few moments and letting out a muffled sound that’s something akin to a squeal.
“I love ya so much!” He repeats, pulling away just enough to kiss you, lips sliding insistently against yours and deepening the kiss.
“I love you too,” You say against his lips as you finally pull away, a brilliant smile stretching across your face as you close your eyes to lean your forehead against his. “Wow,” You breathe finally, pulling back enough to look into his face. “I can’t believe I’m marrying such a jerk!” You swat his shoulder, and he throws his head back and lets out a loud, giddy burst of laughter.
“Ya sure are,” He smirks, leaning in for just one more kiss.

Hi, Riah! I was wondering if we could maybe get another part of MJ and Gray? I love them sm! Whatever you’re feeling up to writing is cool☺️
This has been in that pages document for forever just sitting there so why not post it haha I was trying to do everything slower and in a more sequential order but whatever
MJ was minding her own business in the kitchen of their new home one morning, standing in front of the Nespresso machine with a blank stare as her decaf blend streamed into her favorite mug. She’s now 25 weeks pregnant, and even though her second trimester is drastically better than her first, one symptom that continues to linger is the 24/7 exhaustion that makes her head pound and her body weak. She goes through this routine every morning of hoping that the smell and taste of her beloved coffee will trick her mind into thinking it’s caffeinated even a little bit, but to no avail.
Not to mention: her tits are heavy and sore; the baby is big enough to cause more back pain than ever; and, well, she just feels…gross.
That’s not to say she feels like this all the time. In fact, she quite enjoys being pregnant on most days. Despite the frequent tiredness, she’s definitely one of those glowing pregnant women, and she adores the fact that she’s lucky enough to be able to do something so miraculous as grow and carry a full on baby inside of her.
But mornings are usually the worst time for MJ, and it doesn't help any when her husband comes to join her, looking like sex on legs with his mussed hair, puffy lips and cheeks, and his bulky muscles lean from the early hour.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” he mumbles, coming up behind her to nuzzle kisses into her neck, his morning scruff scratching her skin deliciously. He smells like sleep and toothpaste, and MJ happily tilts her neck back so his mouth can meet with hers. “Sleep okay?”
MJ shrugs and opens the carton of oat milk. “As good as I have been. Which is to say, not that great,” she answers honestly, pouring the creamy liquid into her steaming mug before stepping away from him to put the carton back in the fridge. She doesn’t like to complain, sometimes feeling guilty about doing so, but if she does have anything regarding her pregnancy that she needs to vent about, it’s always to Grayson considering it’s his baby causing all her problems. That, and he knows better than anyone that she wouldn't trade it for anything. “Your child has taken a liking to kicking me in the spleen at random hours throughout the night, apparently.”
Grayson frowns sympathetically for a moment, but that quickly morphs into a soft smile as he drops to his knees in front of his wife. He truly hates the painful aspects she has to go through with this pregnancy, but nothing makes him happier than the sight he had walked in on just now — MJ in those yoga pants that hugged her ass even better than usual with the bit of weight she’s put on. A chunk of her skin exposed between the waistband and the hem of her pre-pregnancy camisole that’s stretched to capacity over the cute bump she subconsciously caresses while standing at the coffee maker. Hair piled in a messy bun. Eyes tired behind her oversized glasses but skin radiant. Swaying side to side and humming to herself as she waits for the brew to finish.
He lifts her shirt more so his lips can graze her taut skin, and places his hands on either side of her belly. “Baby girl,” he coos to the bump with a grin when he feels movement against his palms, “you gotta be good and let your mama get some rest. She’s working hard to grow you in there, she needs to sleep.”
MJ takes a sip of her latte and melts as she always does when he talks to their little bean. It’s like his voice is a magnet as she feels the familiar flutters of the baby moving inside her to find her daddy.
“She already loves you,” she murmurs when Grayson places a lingering kiss on her belly before standing again. “She goes crazy every time you speak.”
Grayson flushes happily and captures MJ’s lips sweetly, his tongue slipping into her mouth to taste coffee and her. He backs her up against the counter and never breaks the seal of their mouths as he takes her mug and sits it blindly on the granite behind her. Her arms wrap loosely around his neck and his hands run up and down her back until he reaches under her thighs to hoist her on the counter next to her mostly-full cup of coffee. He’s succeeded in awakening her more than it could, anyway.
They finally break apart, and Grayson’s hands move to her bump once again. MJ covers them with her own and smiles ruefully, resting the back of her head against the upper cabinets to look at him more fully, all kiss-swollen and glowing arguably as much as he always claims she is.
“Won’t be very long before I’m too huge for you to do that,” she jokes, laughing when he looks at her like she’s crazy.
“Not to brag, but have you seen me?” he questions rhetorically with a quirked brow, a hint of a smirk on the corner of his mouth. He flexes his arms, his biceps twitching beneath her slim fingers.
MJ shakes her head and bites her lip as her hands map the bulges of his broad shoulders and thick arms that would always get her panties wet on any given day, but have her halfway to jumping him now that she’s hormonal and horny all the time. He barely got in the door from the gym shirtless and sweaty the other day before she was blowing him in their foyer.
“Of course, Bear. Doesn't change that I’m barely over halfway through and already feel like I’m 1,000 pounds most of the time,” she says, scrunching her nose and locking her hands around his neck.
Grayson stares at her darkly, and she can actually feel the moisture collect in her underwear, just from that hazel smolder. “MJ, I know it has to be tough, growing a whole-ass person inside you. I hope you don't ever think I’m belittling that fact, but you’re so fucking sexy right now,” he assures, moving his hands to cup her jaw to make sure she was listening. “Know why?”
She finds that a little hard to believe, mentally noting the extra roundness in her face, and the faint but present stretch marks starting to paint the skin of her stomach, and the painful way her breasts have swelled. “Why?”
Gray drags his teeth along his lower lip and looks her up and down slowly until lustful, loving hazel meets intrigued green. “Because that’s my baby. Every time I look at you I think, ‘I did that. I put that in her.’” He lets out a little growl and kisses her again, apparently so caught up in his own words that he can’t resist her anymore. He pulls back with a hum as he continues. “And any time we go in public, it’s in the faces of everyone — mine. My wife, my baby, mine mine mine.”
He punctuates each ‘mine’ with a peck to her lips. MJ is a bit taken aback by his sincerity, but after a moment she smiles and holds up her left hand, where her three carat emerald cut diamond glitters in the sunlight streaming through the windows. “Was this hunk of rock not enough to stake your claim, caveman?” she asks with a giggle.
“Nope,” Grayson says, grabbing her hand and kissing the ring as he grins. “Had to prove my virility on top of marking my territory.”
She rolls her eyes playfully and wraps her legs around his trim waist. “Well, if you’re going to be like that, be a good Neanderthal and hunt down the food to make me a green smoothie.”
Grayson throws back his head and laughs, kissing her nose affectionately before extracting himself from her grip and doing as she asked. “Anything for my woman.”

a blip in the reader-verse
chapter 2: white picket fence
previous chapter
chapter summary: you learn a bit more about the situation at hand, and gain a sliver of hope for the future
pairing: steve rogers x reader
warnings: angst, but a temporary happy ending
word count: 1.9k
author’s note: hopefully the trajectory of this fic will make a little more sense after this chapter, and the next. all feedback and reblogs are appreciated & let me know if you’d like to be added to the story’s tag list!
A breeze blew by idly, shaking the flowers that surrounded you in the field just slightly. You seemed to be lost in your own head, relaxing on your back and basking in the serenity of watching the sunrise. The soft crunch of footsteps approaching alerted you of someone else’s presence, and you moved your gaze to follow the sound.
You were shocked at the vision of your lover, although he seemed to be a frequent subject of your thoughts and dreams these days. Still, you gasped out, “Steve?”
“Y/N,” he responded excitedly, nearly sliding in an attempt to sit down next to you.
“How did you find me here?” your brows furrowed as you looked at the man, something a bit off about his presence.
“You know that I’d find you anywhere,” he told you, looking over at you as you shook your head, and turned your away from him.
“Then why did you leave?” You asked, biting back bitter tears. “You promised me that you’d never leave,” you muttered with a wobble in your voice.
He reached a calloused hand out to your face, and gently turned it back towards him. “I’m so sorry. I made a really big mistake, an-and now I can’t get back. I’m gonna try to find you, but you have to help me.”
“You’re just my brain telling me what I want to hear,” you whimpered, sitting up.
“No Y/N, it’s me. Really me. It’s so hard to explain, but I messed up really bad. I need you to try to find me too. But I don’t even know if we’re in the same universe anymore.”
You gave Steve a strange look at this point, wiping your face with the back of your hand and huffing softly. This did seem a bit far fetched for your subconscious to conjure up on its own.
A loud and sharp sound interrupted your thoughts, and in an instant, the field of flowers began to fade into obscurity, daffodils and pink tulips turning to nothing more than smudges of pastels against a similarly smudged pale sunrise.
Yet through the dissolving of the dream, and the distorted noise of what you could only assume was your alarm clock, Steve remained. He grabbed your hand and squeezed it tightly. “I just want to be with you again. Please,” he paused, “bring me back home.” He begged, “back to you,” he pleaded before vanishing as well.
—
You woke up in a pool of your own sweat, your phone’s alarm ringing obnoxiously, as you used one hand to turn it off, and another to dry the steady stream of tears that had escaped your eyes at some point during your rest.
You had to admit, that was a rather bizarre dream. You’d had your fair share of dreams about Steve since his departure, yet none as vivid as this. Although it was just a dream, it felt like something more. A message, even. You grabbed your phone, and rushed to type in a recap of the event into your notes app, before rubbing the rest of the sleep out of your eyes, and heading out to the kitchen of the Compound to find someone else to confide in.
Lo and behold, Banner stood in the kitchen steeping a cup of green tea.
“Morning, Y/N. How’d you sleep?” He asked, taking a sip of the drink, before taking a seat at the dining table.
You chuckled softly to yourself, and approached the Nespresso machine, “That’s a great question. I guess I slept fine, but Steve was there.”
“Again?” Bruce questioned, setting down his mug.
“Yeah, but it was kind of different. He basically told me that he was stuck and needed me to help him,” you popped a pod into the machine, then slid your own mug under the spout.
“That is different,” Bruce agreed. “What do you think is going on in that brain of yours?”
“No idea. It was just so weird, because he told me that he thinks he’s in a completely different universe. Uh, he was just being vague about some mistake he’d made.”
“Hmm,” Bruce grumbled pensively while the sound of your coffee pouring also filled your ears “What do you think happened? Weird dream, or meaningful dream?”
You shrugged hopelessly, then looked down at the floor as Natasha entered the room. “Morning, assholes,” she greeted, shuffling over to where you were standing by the counter, and giving you a classic Nat half hug upon seeing your bloodshot eyes, indicating another tumultuous night. “How’re you holding up, babe?”
You simply shrugged again in response, grabbing your now filled mug, and setting it down on the counter.
“She had another dream about him,” Bruce informed Nat.
“You poor thing,” she said genuinely, despite her words’ sarcastic nature. As you sat down at the counter seats, Nat began to make her own drink. “I know you guys were close, but it might be time to let go. You need closure, and maybe allowing yourself to grieve will help you to not dream about him so often.”
You stared down into the dark liquid, and frowned as you saw a hint of your unkempt reflection. “Yeah, you’re right. But I’m worried. What he was saying in my dream was basically a cry for help. I know, it could just be me projecting, but it just felt so real…” your voice trailed off, and you glanced up to see Bruce and Natasha sharing a concerned look.
“You guys think I’m crazy don’t you? Great. Fine. I’m gonna go train,” You muttered, grabbing your mugs handle and slipping out of your seat before leaving the kitchen. You couldn’t stand being judged in that moment. Was a little support from your friends too much to ask for?
——
Aware that your teammates didn’t believe the weight of your dreams, you seeked out Wanda, and practically begged her to read your memories and relay them back to the team as a way to gain another witness, and possibly get Steve the help that he might need.
If Steve was truly trapped in another universe, perhaps the scientists on the team could create technology that could help bring him back.
As you’d expected, Wanda giving her testimony on what she’d seen in your subconscious to your teammates had helped your case significantly. Although a bit hesitant, Tony and Bruce were desperate to get Steve back, and if it meant going on a wild goose chase, they were open to taking that risk.
Sooner than later, a small watch was created that seemed to be able to harbor the ability to jump into different universes throughout the multiverse.
You were sitting in the common room, playing a game of chess with Thor, when the trifecta of Tony, Bruce, and Wanda approached you with a small device that appeared to be some sort of smart watch.
“Y/N, you’re going on a mission,” Tony began. “We have good reason to believe that Steve is in fact, in some other universe somewhere in the multiverse. We have no idea how he contacted you, but if your connection to him is strong enough that he can talk to you in your dreams, there’s not a doubt, well, maybe like three doubts, in my mind that you can find him in a different universe.” The watch was passed into your hand.
“Some things we’ve figured out through a few practice runs is that in these universes, you already kind of technically exist. You may have to try to come up with certain memories on the spot, but for the most part, you should remember what your life is like in that universe as soon as you get there, and fit right in.
Now, the time that you can stay varies in each universe. For some, it’s a long time. Maybe even years. But in others, you might only be able to stay for a matter of minutes. It really just depends on how time works in their reality. About thirty seconds before you’re automatically sent to a different reality, you’ll get a little vibration on your wrist that’ll tell you it’s time to go.
If you need to leave before that vibration, there’s a setting that allows you to do so. You can also come back to this specific universe anytime you need to, but we’re under the impression that it’ll take less of an overall toll on you if you just go straight from one universe to the next.” Bruce added.
“Remember, your mission is to find Steve and bring him back, okay? There are infinite amounts of universes out there, so there are infinite versions of Steve you might come across. Please don’t bring whoever else you might fall in love with back here,” Wanda teased. “We don’t need any more trouble with the time and universe cops.”
You chuckled stiffly, but were trying to really absorb the information you’d just been loaded with.
“You can leave whenever you’re ready. Right now, tonight, a week. Whenever, okay?” Bruce told you, and you simply nodded. “Alright. Safe travels, okay?”
“Yeah. Thank you guys, seriously.”
“You think we’re doing this for you? We want our Capsicle back!” Tony teased. You shook your head fondly, then exited the room, going to your bedroom for some peace and quiet, and to attempt to process everything you’d just heard.
You wrapped the watch band across your wrist, then scrolled up and down the interface, surprised at everything it could do. Yet, before you could even say ‘wow,’ the world seemed to fade to black.
——
When you opened your eyes, you were standing in the same field outside of the compound that you’d been standing in just a few days prior, reliving the final moments you’d shared with Steve.
Except, Steve wasn’t the one standing on the platform. In fact, Steve was standing next to you, his hand squeezing yours in the comforting manner that you’d grown to know over the past six years. The both of you watched Thor wave a friendly goodbye, then disappear into thin air.
You were at a loss for words. It felt like a do-over more than anything else, but you tried not to get ahead of yourself and mess anything else in the universe up, in an attempt not to cause another butterfly effect..
“This is all finally gonna be over,” Steve said, pulling his hand away from yours, so he could wrap his arm around you tightly. “All of this pain and suffering, all of the stress from those Goddamn stones.”
You nodded wordlessly, in a bit of shock from seeing the man that appeared to be your Steve, and feeling his comforting touch after what had felt like a lifetime without it.
“Maybe we can finally start over. Move into the suburbs, have a few kids, the whole white picket fence,” he sighed softly, imagining an ideal future with you beside him.
You nodded, barely being able to think with the overstimulation of being in Steve’s presence. All you could do was inhale deeply into Steve’s chest, and ignore the soft vibration on your wrist, alerting you of your departure. “I love you Steve,” was all you could muster as you mumbled into his chest.
“Let’s go home.”

Double Shot Chapter 7
I had a good couple of months of normalcy. I barely noticed that the five arsonists/murderers weren’t around anymore. I definitely didn’t start up from wherever I might be every single fucking time the bells on the entrance chimed. I most certainly didn’t nearly break my fucking leg on my own goddamn coffee table when one of the specialty ingredients I ordered came to my apartment door when the delivery driver came after hours.
You know what? Normalcy is wonderful. I mean, the amount of THINGS I got completed. The baseboards of the cafe, kitchen, and my entire fucking apartment, not to mention the public restrooms in the shop (seriously, gag, don’t mention them) have never been cleaner. I also made sure that there wasn’t a speck of dust in the entire shop, or my apartment. I think I made Keli worry a little bit when I started sweeping the sidewalk outside The Little Drip. It was hard to tell. Do scowls and squinting equal concern?
I hardly noticed that they weren’t around at all. It really made it easier every time that Detective Marks and Detective Johnson came in to see if my memory had been jogged at all about the night of the fire. They hadn’t mentioned the dead person, and neither did the news. I started to wonder if maybe Clay had been mistaken. If there was a dead body, wouldn’t it be news? Instead the focus seemed to be on the fire itself, as though a building was more important than a person’s life.
It was at the beginning of the third month when I managed to NOT glance up at all when the bell signaled a customer’s arrival. My nose and finger was busy with my clipboard, Wednesday the worst day of my week, but one of the best Addams family members, but then I heard it. Keli’s mutter of the order and I fought against raising my head. Nope, not gonna happen today.
“Charlotte?” I sighed, and rolled my shoulders. Hallucinations brought on by trauma (the fire, renting to the firestarters, the aftermath of said fire) were perfectly normal. Even if they were auditory now. “Hey,” damn it, I thought, if I look up and the fucking shop has Mrs. Angley standing in front of me asking one more fucking time if I could add a coffee combo that ONLY Nestle and their Nespresso machines had, I would explode.
I flicked my eyes up and shook my head again. Shit. From auditory to visual, I wondered if I could afford therapy. If I wasn’t completely batshit, then JJ or Jen was standing in front of me. If I was, well fuck if I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my traitorous face. Fucker.
“Hey,” I offered, sneaking a glance at Keli to see if she was dialing for a loony wagon to come fetch me. She was busy waiting on another customer, but when she turned to make their order she shrugged and shot JJ’s back a look. Shared hallucination? Nah, Keli didn’t give a shit about anything in the shop, much less the customers. “How are you?” Clearly I hadn’t lost my damn mind, or at least not all of it.
JJ/Jen’s face broke out in that awkward smile that he charmed me with the first round, his hand scrubbing over his head like he wanted to DO something. “Yeah, good, I think.” I shook my head again, every question I asked him always seemed like it was too hard to work out for him. Which was complete bullshit because I had a feeling that he was smarter than anyone could fathom. “You?”
Another sigh escaped. “I’d be better if I didn’t have almost weekly visits from two cops about that weird fire that broke out across the street.” The debris was gone, but Flirty and Grumpy’s interest hadn’t died down. “Hopefully they wind up the investigation and I can stop footing their sweet and coffee bill.” I tempered it with a smile. “I better get back to my-”
“Tallies and numbering?” The deep voice cut in and I wanted to shoot myself, but I hated guns. Fuck. “Hey, Charlotte.” I shut my eyes to steady myself and forced what I hoped would be a neutral smile on my face.
“Clay,” I turned away with my clipboard and went back to counting, firmly feeling that we had our little talk and while they very sight of him would no doubt cause parts of me a LOT of unfulfilled pleasure, my brain said ‘fuck no’. Of course I didn’t know Clay all that damn well, but I definitely assumed he understood the brush off a woman turning her back to him was. I was wrong.
“Charlotte,” he was beside me, and I shut my eyes again. “Can’t count with your eyes closed.”
“Maybe I’m doing mental math, Clay.” I ground out, praying him and his ragtag group of charismatic assholes would take a hint, even as my other parts were battling the prayer to smithereens at how happy they were to see them again.
I could feel the heat of him close to me, but I had no idea how close until I opened my eyes. Fuck. He was right beside me, his arm almost brushing mine, and I wanted to hit him, or maybe just run my finger up his- Oh, no you don’t, Charlotte, get your libido under control, you tart.
“Tell me what the problem is, two heads are better than one, right?” I was thinking about his second head and realized that WASN’T what he was talking about, was it? Shit. I felt my mouth go dry. How could he affect me so fucking much, we hadn’t actually fucking TOUCHED?
Swallowing and trying to get saliva from anywhere at this point, a thought that shot another fucking dirty thought through me as I fucking imagined his mouth and tongue moving with mine- Wait, what was the question?
“Charlotte?” Damn it. “What addition problem are you working through? Or is it subtraction?” I flashed on the old dirty joke that went ‘Sex is like math: Add the bed, Subtract the clothes, Divide the legs, and pray to God you don’t Multiply!’ Fuck, not helping. Looking Clay up and down from out of the corner of my eye, I thought maybe multiplying with him wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Shit.
I had to focus. Math, eyes shut, right. “I was trying to work out how many more of these,” I moved the hand closest to him, and fuck if it didn’t brush against his crotch as I reached for a bag of random fucking coffee beans. Goddamn it, really?!
He hissed out a bit of air when my knuckles touched the zipper of his pants and I felt the blush flare up from my toes to my hairline. Shit, shit, shit. “That was unexpected,” I couldn’t look up at him, not while I was holding a hefty bag of coffee beans and after hearing the tone he used I imagined he was wearing a smug and mocking smile. Fucker. I swallowed down the fact that I’d FELT him. Through his pants, and I fucking imagined underwear of some sort, and fuck if I didn’t want to try it without the extra barriers. Damn it.
“I was reaching for these,” I held up the bag of beans. “It’s not MY fault you were hovering.” There, righteous indignation. That works on TV all the damn time, right? I felt him looking down at me, even if my eyes refused to meet his. My shame wouldn’t allow it.
“Right, the math problem.” He sounded as convinced as I had when my mom insisted that the Easter bunny was real, even as I asked her how he laid fucking eggs. “How many of-” his hand met mine where it was holding the bag of beans and I felt the blush grow hotter. Could you get heat stroke from your own blush? Asking for me. “These, do you usually have on hand?” Hand? Like the one you have tight against mine? Think, Charlotte, think.
Clipboard, fuck I nearly danced when I remembered it. Glancing down, without realizing that we were still holding the damn bag of fucking beans, I saw the control number and gave it to him. “By my account, Charlotte, you need ONE bag.” Damn it. I felt hotter than ever, and now I couldn’t decide if it was my face or other parts that were throwing off the most heat, his hand was still holding mine and the bag. “Any other math you want me to help with?” The mind is a torturous asshole, because mine flashed on that fucking ‘problem’ I’d considered before. Nope, not today.
I took a beat or five before I answered. My brain was overheating, my face was on fire, and please don’t make me talk about my panties. Letting out a long breath, I forced another smile onto my face. “No, that was the hardest one.”
And that did it, he chuckled and I really wished that the whole ‘the floor is lava’ thing was true, because then I could fucking die. “Oh, Charlotte, it’s not nearly as hard as it can get.” Damn it.

CLOSED STARTER FOR: @leslie-bowman
Sanem waited off to the side of the counter for her order to be called, idly going through her phone, going over her schedule and ignoring the ding of any new messages, at least for the time being. What probably wasn’t the smartest idea, not that she’s always been full of the time, was staying out far latter than she should’ve last night at the bar, when she had classes to teach the very next day. Like a godsend though, she was able to get CJ to cover for the earliest ones, not that he ever hesitated to help when needed. Why she also found herself in The Real Bean, sure she had a Nespresso machine at home, but had she not pulled herself here, there was a chance she just would’ve ended up under the covers all day.
Moving to grab the latte upon hearing her name, at least she was positive she had, unmistakable to her own ears, only to find somebody had ended up scooping it first. Opening her mouth to say something, when she saw it was now in the hands of a very familiar blonde. Just then finding herself having to fight not to let out an exasperated sigh, but instead simply allowing a smile to pull across her face. Smallest hint of forcefulness to it. ❝ Leslie, so nice to see you. But I think you might’ve accidentally grabbed the wrong drink, I mean not unless you also ordered a vanilla latte with 3 shots of espresso too, of course. ❞

Alright, now that my initial euphoria as lifted (a little), time to some considerations and feedback regarding this season, and sadly, that was a weak season compared to the previous ones. I had some great time playing it, but the weak points speak louder than the strong ones.
TLDR: 90% of the issues would be solved if the ending was a goal instead of a surprise.
SOTPLUNDER ENDING TALK BELOW
Ketchcrash was a great activity, very dynamic and exciting to do, which is very important in a game where farming is valued. Same can't be said about Expeditions, especially in the first days with all the glitchs and frustrating triumphs (looking at you, 50 ruffians). It did feel like a public event tbh, and while PE are nice in open map, a single activity on it feels weak. Comparing to past season, the public events in Leviathan were super fun to farm and play because of that open map characteristic (fun fact I ended sotHaunted with 333 containments). Also, another pet peeve I had regarding farming and drops is that the armors doesn't come focused like the Haunted ones. At the end of the season, I caught myself farming back at the Leviathan for Umbral Energy than in Ketchcrash/Expedition.
Seasonal activity felt too fast and shallow compared to sotHaunted and Lost (i didn't play Risen, shame on me). Exploring the Ascendant Plane in sotLost was something I could spend hours doing and Sever in sotHaunted made me much more closer to the characters and narrative. This time I didn't feel anything new for the characters and the story. I was mostly looking forward for the radio calls at the end of the quest than the mission itself.
Speaking of narrative and storytelling — which for >me< is the most important reason for me to play D2 — is the lack of a solid goal for us, players. I'm all for some drama and the Eliksni drama itself was great to watch 👀✨ but there was so much emphasis on them while something clearly much more significant to >us< was happening aka Nezarec. I do believe the Nezarec subject will extend over the next seasons, especially now that Osiris is back to us thanks to the nespresso, but the whole Nezarec development in this season is quite non-existent and makes the season ending less impactful and too easy than it should be. I wanted to see more about Misraaks' studies, more about the ritual than Eido drop a "lol so, this folklore here...".
If we knew since the beginning that we could use the Nezarec relics to bring Osiris back, that would give us a solid objective to go through the story and fulfill the quest — it would give us the focus that we missed here.
We could still have some Eliksni drama - Misraaks hiding the corruption element about the relics, Eido being kept blind about her father's hypocrisy, Rakis aka Spider being the dogpile he always have been, etc. Saint didn't even need to be an active character, he could still stay at Osiris' side while watching the progress (he was already pretty anxious this season, which already hinted to more attentive ears that Osiris could wake up anytime soon). Drifter could also continue to help us considering he's familiar to Nezarec relics, and Eramis could still be out there collecting the relics for the Witness. The narrative team missed the clear focus of giving us a solid objective, and because of that, everything else felt too weak to us.
"But what if they wanted Osiris' awakening to be a surprise?" Truth is, the surprise was long gone since Lightfall was introduced. We knew Osiris had to wake up before it comes, so it could be the perfect seasonal goal, and give the Nezarec relics the proper importance they deserve.
For strong points, I loved to see and learn more about the Eliksni culture and bonds, the Misraaks-Eido-Spider trio was a delight especially in the most chaotic times, and Eramis had some build-up that makes her much more interesting mostly at the end. Again, Ketchcrash was a great activity and I much more rather farm stuff there than on Expeditions, and I personally have no problem at all reusing Lost Sector maps for the activities, except that, as I said, they felt too short and impactless.
Anyway that’s just some of my beans I wanted to babble about! I tend to focus mostly on the positive stuff (O14 KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I also think it’s important even to myself to open a space to babble my opinions and exercize my critique eyes to things that can be improved!
#sotplunder babbling#this is a critique without hatred#for all i know my heart is full of love for THEM#but we really gotta talk about some writing issues here

Nespresso tokyo lungo

Whether sourcing beans from AAA-accredited farmers, planting 3.5 million trees on small coffee farms or using responsible and traceable aluminium for our recyclable capsules, Nespresso always puts sustainability and quality first. Pour the Matcha hot milk on top and garnish with some grilled sesame seeds. Add 15g of honey into a View Recipe Glass and then extract 110 ml of World Explorations Tokyo Lungo over it. A splash of milk will still preserve the coffee’s roasted notes and a fine touch of fruitiness. Pour 150 ml of milk directly into the Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother. Longer, darker roast of Mexican beans helps develop some intensity and body, while still maintaining the balanced character of the blend. Try Tokyo Vivalto Lungo as a Latte for a creamy, sweet and balanced cup. Tokyo Vivalto Lungo 0.53 ADD TO BASKET Roasting A shorter, lighter roast of the Ethiopian coffee beans preserves the coffees acidity and delicate flowery notes. Longer, darker roast of Mexican beans helps develop some intensity and body, while still maintaining the balanced character of the blend.Ī combination of Ethiopian and washed Mexican Arabicas contrast beautifully to give this Lungo a rich flavor with delicate floral and fruity notes. Tokyo Vivalto Lungo combines aromatic, flowery notes, refined roastiness and a hint of fruit for a balanced and complex profile.Ī shorter, lighter roast of the Ethiopian coffee beans preserves the coffee's acidity and delicate flowery notes. Enjoy this black Lungo in a fine porcelain cup and take time to savor its sophisticated aromas. The heady floral notes and delicate acidity coming from the lightly roasted Ethiopian Arabica contrast beautifully with the rich flavours of Mexican washed Arabica. To strike this note, we brought together the two coffee origins known for sophistication and high quality into one balanced blend that captures soft, natural sweetness and delicate aromas. Their traditional long black cup is an aromatic invitation to pause and savour the coffee’s delicious complexity and refined taste. You may want to try it out.World Explorations Tokyo Vivalto Lungo captures the heart of the Japanese coffee tradition marked by purity, simplicity, and elegance. It has a much more complex flavor and is nicer and much more enjoyable to drink. To my surprise, the coffee is quite intense tasting. Cape Town Envivo Lungo Stockholm Fortissio Lungo Tokyo Vivalto Lungo Vienna Linizio Lungo Shanghai Lungo Buenos Aires Lungo Master Crafted Single Origins: Peru Organic Limited Edition India. A shorter, lighter roast of the Ethiopian coffee beans preserves the coffees acidity and delicate flowery notes. If you use the same cup, it’s just 75% the amount that it would normally have. This is done by pressing the Lungo button just a few seconds before finishing. POST NOTE: After realizing the Tokyo Vivalto Lungo is very mild/light when extracted as a Lungo size, I decided to try extracting it at about 75% of the normal 110 ml size. Overall, the redesign of the Nespresso Tokyo Vivalto Lungo is a nice change, but it still doesn’t meet my expectations as I’m still finding this tends to be a very light roast, and I prefer the most intense roasts like the Envivo Lungo for my morning Lungo coffee it’s just a personal preference. The Tokyo Vivalto Lungo does have a thick crema that is very enjoyable. The coffee has a light sour taste to it, but is very nice and it lingers. World Explorations Tokyo Vivalto Lungo captures the heart of the Japanese coffee tradition marked by purity, simplicity, and elegance. Inniheldur: 10 hylki af Tokyo Vivalto Lungo með ristuðu og möluðu kaffi fyrir NESPRESSO kerfið. The Tokyo Vivalto Lungo is definitely a bit more intense than the original Vivalto Lungo. The Nespresso Tokyo Vivalto Lungo has a complex floral and fruit like taste to it. NEW DESIGN, NEW NAME, ENHANCED AROMA: Refined and balanced, Tokyo Vivalto Lungo is an elegant all-Arabica blend with exceptional flowery aromas and complex.

tw drug mention
sometime in the middle of november
Cash enjoys being a hands-on owner. Bean Through, his hospital bed concept come to life has allowed him to meet plenty of new people and learn new things. He learned to cook for survival years ago but coffee is a whole different world from just food. Kiha has been a lot of help but it’s the baristas who have taught Cash that there is way more to coffee than just pushing buttons on a Nespresso machine. He smells like dark roast and there’s a giant splotch of brown on his apron as a familiar face walks into the establishment. Something that Cash welcomes yet feels worried about.
He knows how to work in these situations and keeps it cool, nodding at them both in acknowledgment, feeling proud as he witnesses his employees greet the men and start their order. There was a lull in activity, hence the impromptu lesson Cash was receiving before they arrived, and watching his employees work together like a well-oiled machine is very satisfying, Kiha has done an amazing job. Maybe he’ll give him another holiday raise, he deserves it.
Taking the apron off, he works the room greeting customers, making sure nothing is amiss, willing to play owner and server for everyone. Cash has never been the type for small talk, owning a business of service has forced him to learn the act, he’s not perfect but he thinks he’s gotten better at it. It’s when he’s at the table they picked in the back that the collected owner role drops and the paranoia colors his face. “Sup, man?” He daps up Jay, the guy who takes a decent amount of Cash’s money from a weekly to a monthly basis, and glances over to the guy with him. Jay looks between them and nods, “Cash, this is my associate, Minho, he looked out for me when we did our service,” Jay explains before a sip of coffee, “told him he had to come to see the joint, this place is doing great, Cash.” Jay compliments a little bit too kindly in Cash’s opinion, he’s never been to the place, Cash won’t say that though, accepting the kind words anyway.
He feels Minho’s eyes on him, it’s not a new feeling, it never will be and Cash has finally come to terms with that, he’s got plenty to gawk at from his size to the scars on his face and throat and yet, something tells him to cut his eyes over, catching the tail end of Minho’s cursory glance, finding himself in a short stare down. Seriously, kids don’t stare this long – that’s a lie but usually, the adults find some shame and look away once caught. Cash won’t look away first, he refuses and it seems like Minho is in the same boat. Jay looks between them, sipping his coffee again, and chuckles. “Stop flirting in front of me, it’s weird.” That’s enough for both men to look away at the same time, Cash rolling his eyes behind his glasses.
“Do you want a tour?” He offers after clearing his throat, putting that weird moment behind him.
Minho finally speaks, “no, where’s your restroom?”
sometime in the middle of december
Cash is no Sherlock, he doesn’t see the hints, the subtle clues to tell him the answers, he’s a cut and dry man, he likes clear big answers, full the picture shown. The numbers told him there was more activity at Bean Through, which was good, great even. They weren’t doing too shabby for a new business yet, when Cash looks at the dates, the sudden uptake in patrons doesn’t feel realistic in numbers because they haven’t changed anything at all in terms of advertising, Cash is very much into word of mouth, the occasional flyer on campus which usually gets the job done, he would rather tell someone himself to come to visit than buy an AD or put a lot into promotions, the organic growth something Cash strived for when drawing up his vision. So, anyone else would love these numbers, he finds them concerning.
He decides to text Kiha, asking him to come to his office in the back, he shows him the numbers, the other man looking over Cash’s shoulders, the scent of black roast wafting off of him a tsunami and Cash feels like he doesn’t need to drink a coffee to get the same effect. “Look at these numbers,” he says quietly, pushing his laptop over so Kiha can get a better look for himself. “This is good, right? I have noticed more people coming in, I just figured they wanted to get in from the cold.” Kiha reasons and Cash wants to agree with him, it has been super cold out. Yet, Cash still can’t shake this. “You’re right,” he lies, chuckling because why should Cash be worried, right? “Everyone gets a raise since we can afford it. You can buy that rat you want so badly.” Cash dismisses Kiha after that, closing the document out.
He’s walking through the main area of Bean Through when he just happens to see Ryuhwan all but running out of the bathroom, the door still swinging open, Cash sees Jay and his friend… Jaein? No, it was Minho, Cash remembers now, it was Minho. They’re counting bills and Ryuhwan brushes by Cash who grabs him by the back of the neck of the shirt he wears and he tries to fight it off as Cash drags him back to the men’s room.
“What the fuck are you doing in my shop?”
Ryuhwan panics, “nothing! I was just taking a piss, you need to calm down, hyung.”
“Don’t fuckin’ call me that, open your pockets,” Cash demands, he’s the biggest guy in the room (even if there is a possibility Jay has a weapon in him,) none of them have ever seen Cash this livid before and stay frozen. “Now!” He barks and Ryuhwan pulls the baggie from his pocket with a trembling hand.
“Please don’t tell my dad –”
Cash puts his attention to Jay and Minho, “you dealing in here? You didn’t even ask me, we’re friends, or I thought we were fuckin’ friends, Jay!” Was it Cash’s fault for becoming friendly with his dealer? They weren’t very close but they were cordial, had a good rapport and it felt less like business and more like a casual friend who helped him out occasionally. Should he have kept things professional? “Cash –” Jay starts slowly, reaching out he puts his hands on Cash’s shoulder, “you want in? You got a good place, mine is hot right now –”
“And you don’t think all these people coming and going in here won’t make mine hot as well, Jay?” Cash interjects. He doesn’t even know how to process the offer. Cash is a consumer, not a dealer.
“Listen, we got a good thing going here, both of us can profit from this, think about it. What if I give you a little somethin’ somethin’ uh, rent fee, in good faith.” Jay suggests as he rubs Cash’s shoulder. Ryuhwan watches and wonders if it’s his chance to slip away while they handle business and Cash swats Jay’s hand off of him, grabbing the younger man to stop him from leaving. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? Since when is this what you do? Go to my office, I’ll be there in a second.”
Ryuhwan shrugs out of his hold and leaves the restroom, walking off to Cash’s office like a child.
Cash looks between Jay and Minho and levels his eyes on Minho. They aren’t as close as Cash and Jay but they were slowly getting to know each other, polite when they all hung out, so the betrayal doesn’t hurt as much as it does from Jay yet Cash still feels screwed over by the quieter man. “A heads up would have been nice,” he says and Minho opens his mouth to speak when Jay speaks before he can even get a word out. “I told you my place is hot right now, quit being a bitch about this when we can make this work for all of us. We all like money, don’t we?”
Cash sighs and rubs his beard, Bean Through being a traphouse wasn’t on his 2021 bingo card, neither was being alive but that’s out of his control.
“I hate you.”
Jay’s serious face breaks into a grin at Cash’s words, patting his neck affectionately, “yah, little brother –”
“Don’t call me that…”
“We won’t let you regret this, hmm? Promise!” And to show the proof, he pulls out a wad of bills, thumbing through a few he puts it in the front pocket of the button-up Cash has on, patting his chest afterwards. “And take it easy on the kid, he’s cool, a loyal customer, just like you.” So, Ryuhwan has been buying from Jay for a while? Great, just great.
Cash doesn’t know how to process anything that’s just transpired as he walks back to his office where Ryuhwan sits on his phone. As soon as he hears Cash’s footsteps he twists himself in his seat, “please don’t tell my dad! Or my mom, but don’t tell my dad! I’ll do anything you want!” Cash feels weird, will this happen again with his own kids in the future? Having to negotiate when they do something majorly bad? Technically, Ryuhwan is an adult, he finished his service cleanly and now he’s in school what anything he does isn’t Cash’s business. Yet, he told Larry that he would keep an eye out on him, they don’t have the most solid relationship and Cash gets that, he gets not knowing how to have a conversation with your dad, Cash wishes he had a Cash to look out for him when he was Ryuhwan’s age.
“How long has this been going on?” Cash asks tossing the baggie on the desk after sitting down, the ivory between them the thing that ties them even closer and Cash swallows, grateful for the water bottle he left next to his laptop, he uncaps it, takes a quick sip. It’s 2014 and Minkyu is waking up in a hospital bed with his mother’s disapproving tears. It’s 2016 and Minkyu is still attending NA because adderall works but it doesn’t give him personality, it just helps him finish at least one thing before he can’t focus for another two hours and he’s surrounded by people he calls his friends that still take way too many restroom breaks.
Ryuhwan shrugs, he wasn’t anticipating getting caught any time soon or at all. “I tried it at a party, I liked how it made me feel, I promise I’ll be careful, just don’t tell my dad, please, Cash.” The young man pleads with fear shinning in his eyes and Cash sighs again, he doesn’t even feel like a parent dealing with their child but with the big desk between them, he’s more like a principal, an unethical principal as he pushes the bag forward, he needs it as far away from him as possible, Cash is not keeping that anywhere near him and what can he do? Even if he says ‘don’t do drugs’ would Ryuhwan listen? Cash at his age would not. The young man snatches the bag fast and stands abruptly, chair scraping against the floor and Cash grimances at the marks that probably are there from employees doing the same thing time and time again.
“I’ll stay out of trouble.” Ryuhwan bows once, twice, and Cash has to wave his hand, stopping him. “Yeah, yeah. Don’t do that shit in my building, how did you even meet Jay?” Cash questions, the world is too small for his liking. “My friend introduced me, how did you meet him?”
Cash sighs for what feels like the millionth time in the span of fifteen minutes, “my friend introduced me. Ryuhwan, please, be careful.” Ryuhwan nods.
“Now, get out of my sight.”

Unlikely Chapter 4
Despite my throbbing head, Friday flew by. I tried not to check my phone every 38 seconds, but failed. I wanted him to text me, but he had to do it first. I don’t play by “The Rules” usually (hmmmm, given my dating history, maybe I should try) but out of sheer anxiety I never call or text first. It doesn’t mean that I don’t bite my nails while waiting, however. And more than once I’ve basically bitten a whole finger off waiting for a message that never came. I tried to distract myself at work by helping in the office in between appointments, explaining some procedures to Rose’s replacement (I’m sure telling her the total wrong thing). At lunch I decided to take a walk to occupy myself, but ended up sitting in the tea shop seven doors down eating a chocolate croissant and sipping Earl Grey. I was wearing ballet flats - there’s simply not enough arch support for a walk. Plus, my afternoon appointments didn’t need to see me sweaty. It was in the best interest of my patients. I was a woman of the people.
That evening Carly and I went to see Kinky Boots on the West End. It was my favorite and Carly had gotten box seats through someone at work. We sang like ninnies throughout the show, laughing and carrying on. Afterwards we hit a swank gastro-pub she’d heard about. As we settled in and were chatting about our days, she dropped the bomb I knew she’d been dying to ask, “So, Niall?”
“Nope.” I rolled my eyes at her.
“Yep. Spill.”
“Well yes, young Niall. He’s a friend of a friend. Perhaps you’ve noticed him at quiz night. Blonde thing, Irish?”
Biting into the olive in her martini, she stuck her tongue out at me. “Seems like he’s more than a friend of a friend. You two were almost snogging last night.”
“I was just playing with his hair. It was innocent. I do that to Paulie all the time.”
“Paul doesn’t practically drool on your boobs when you play with his hair. And he doesn’t look that cozy, either.”
“Stop.”
“Z,” she started. “He rea-...”
“No, Carly. I said stop.” I knew my irritation was evident. I had no poker face - anything I thought or felt was always on display. “Listen, he’s really nice and all the other stuff. But it’s nothing. NOTHING.” She tried to interrupt and I held up my hand. “Don’t. I will not get my hopes up. Because every time someone shows me interest I get a little excited, and I am not doing that anymore. It never ends well, and I’m not putting myself through it again. Remember Adam?” I took a long drink of my martini (Ketel One, extra dirty) and stared at her.
“Right. He was a dick.”
“He was a dick who lead me on for two months and then Aaron found out he had a girlfriend in Leeds. And before him there was Sam, and, um, Robbie. In college there was Dave. High school was Sean. And Kyle The Worst. I’m not doing it. Short of Niall Horan tattooing my name on his ass, I will not believe this is anything more than friendship.” For emphasis, I smacked my hand on the table, startling the tables around us. I eyeballed people who were looking, and stuck my tongue out at a kid about 7 who was staring. Like a sensible human being, he stuck his back out at me.
I’d been unable to get over my hissy fit with Carly, so we called it a night after one drink and no dinner. She hugged me outside of the pub. “Sorry, Z. I didn’t mean to upset you. But don’t shut him down. Friend or whatever, I think he’d be a good guy to keep around.” I nodded at her and hugged her back. I wasn’t mad at her really - she said the same things I would have said if the tables were turned. But Carly didn’t have my history with men, so she couldn’t understand where I was coming from. Sigh. I dug around my purse and found an emergency Valium in my container of miscellaneous pills, swallowing it as the cab sped towards my flat.
I slept late Saturday and Sunday mornings (okay, I sleep late every weekend) and ran errands. I’d begrudgingly let Hannah talk me into hot yoga on the condition that we got pancakes afterwards. I spent the rest of my free time on laundry, had dinner and wine at one of the other therapist’s in my office’s house, and caught up on paperwork. My friends all avoided any mention of Niall - I was assuming Carly had made everyone aware of my meltdown Friday night and they were tiptoeing around me. I was okay with that, though. I didn’t post on Instagram, but went on a few rants on Twitter. Nothing exciting happened, not that I expected it to. Sadly my philosophy on life was to set low expectations and never be disappointed.
Monday began earlier than I expected when my texts notifications dinged at 6:30 (my alarm was set for 6:45 - those 15 minutes make a huge difference). Having been raised to believe that no good came of late night or early morning phone calls, and having adapted this to texting as well, I fumbled for my phone, knocking it off the nightstand. Trying to get to it as soon as possible (Did someone need bail money? Had my sister-in-law finally snapped and murdered my brother?), I fell off the bed. Happy fucking Monday.
Niall. The text was from Niall. I rubbed the tiny knot rising on my forehead (which I knew would swelll into a goose egg by the time the morning was over), and opened it.
“Dragged everyone to quiz night . Not the same without ya !
“I’m shite at the science questions-wish ya were here Z .”
Holy fuck beans. I was wide awake now. As I processed this info, another text came in.
“Oh, and it’s trivia night here . Not quiz night . Americans ;) .”
That was flirty. It was definitely flirty. There was a wink emoji. I took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to Hannah.
“HELP!”
“HELP!
“HANNAH LOUISE GET UP! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!”
“omg. he texted you! he’s flirting! that’s total flirting!”
“i’m totally squealing for you, btw”
“Right? Me too!”
“what did you say back?”
Fuck. I needed to respond.
“I haven’t. Shit, what do I say?”
“be clever.”
“Oh, that’s helpful.”
“z, it’s 6:40 on a monday morning. you’re lucky i’m awake.”
Okay, I can do this. I carried my phone (like it was my precious baby) into the kitchen while I started my Nespresso. I tried typing in several witty answers and deleted them before I could hit send.
“Sorry, my friend. You hit the quiz night goldmine with us on your first try. And damn those dirty Americans :)”
When I didn’t get a response in a few minutes, I gave up and started to get ready for the day. In the shower (washing your hair actually causes ideas to get loose, I swear) I thought of several comebacks that would have been much better. Damn. No response as I gave my hair a quick blow dry (then gave up and put it in a bun), tossed on my fast weekday makeup (BB cream, a quick swipe of eyeliner, and mascara...lipstick could be done on the tube), and tossed on a pair of gray khakis and a navy sweater. Nothing. Bullocks. I reminded myself that this was the exact reason I didn’t want to get excited about Niall in the first place-it was too easy to get caught up and let my emotions get dictated by someone else. With a concerned effort, I turned off my phone and tossed it in my bag.
When I finished with my 3:00 appointment, one of the part-time admins was standing outside of the treatment room we’d been in. “Zoe, you need to call a Hannah back as soon as possible. She’s called three times since lunch and sounds like she’s really upset. I hope everything is okay.”
Damn it, Hannah, you drama queen. I went into my (tiny) office and retrieved my phone, turning it on. 14 texts from Hannah, 8 from Paul, 2 each from Jess and Carly, and 1 from Brian. She’d sent in the troops. As I scrolled through, I saw one more I’d missed in my initial perusal - Niall. First things first, though: Hannah. I called her extension at work and she picked up, “Jesus Christ, are you okay?”
“Wow, that’s a professional way to answer the phone. I’m fine. Turned my phone off this morning.”
“Did he not text back?” People were shouting numbers behind her and the mere idea of it gave me a rash.
“Not right away, and I didn’t want to keep looking at the phone. Just checked it since you freaking called the hounds out on me. He responded.”
“And?”
“And what? I didn’t read it yet. I called you before Scotland Yard showed up at my office.”
“Well fucking read it!” her high pitched voice pierced the line. Ouch.
“I’ll text you shortly. Call off the posse, I’m safe.” I ended the call and stared at the phone a minute. Here goes nothing.
“I did hit the jackpot for quiz mates . Brains and beauty .”
I gasped. Literally gasped. And dropped my phone, narrowly missing my mid-afternoon San Pellegrino. Beauty. BEAUTY. But mate. But beauty. But mate. Gah! This is why my spinster plan was a good idea. Copied the text and sent to Hannah with my own “WTF?” note.
I hammered out a quick response, “Yeah, Paul’s quite the catch. You did well.” It was almost 7 am in Los Angeles (thanks, Google, because time zone math always tricked me). I didn’t figure Niall for an early riser, so back in the bag went the phone and I went into my 4:00 with Elliott, one of my favorite kids.
On the tube home I couldn’t resist and looked again. Nothing. So I did what any sensible person would do and ordered eggplant parmigiana take away. I got into my flat, changed into an old t-shirt - pants were totally optional in my house, took out my contacts, and plopped my ass down with my dinner. My Netflix and chill date was Italian and delicious. A little saucy, though.
At 9:30 my phone dinged with a text. I was half asleep and could feel the pattern from the sofa pillow indented in my face. I grabbed it and saw a text from Niall.
“Paul is a nice looking chap . Not who I had in mind, tho .”
Well fuck this, I was no good at playing cute. Trying to come up with a way to come and ask him if he was hinting at liking me, I heard another ding.
“Want to facetime? I’ll turn on the Lumineers and sing to ya .”
Oh, fate, you’re a cruel mistress. I didn’t even want to know what I looked like right now. There was marinara on the front of my shirt, and I’m sure some on my face. I highly doubted that my makeup had lasted for 14 hours. And I had dragon breath. (I know, he wouldn’t be able to smell it because we hadn’t invented that technology yet, but I’d know.) I pondered if I could put him off long enough to take a shower, get a blow out, and properly contour and highlight my face. Instead I opted for a coy response.
“What fun would your singing be if I couldn’t play with your hair?”
“I’m not really up for FT right now - Monday slug night. Talk, though?”
One minute and 43 seconds later, my phone rang.
I finally hung up the phone at 00:18, GMT. My cheeks hurt from the smile I was rocking. At one point I'd laughed so hard as Niall told me about being chased by stadium security guards on his Segway that I got the hiccups. He, in turn, laughed so hard he had a coughing fit. “We’re a right mess, aren’t we?” he said as we both calmed down, an occasional chuckle between us. “Suppose we are. But at least we’re entertaining.” By this time I’d abandoned the living room and crawled into bed, almost purring when my back hit the mattress.
“What are you doing?” he asked in almost a whisper.
“Getting comfy. Just laid down in bed. It’s my happy place.” The silence on the other end of the line was obvious. Did I just freak him out? I wasn’t trying to get all sexy times, I just got into bed. My shirt and panties were still in place, for God’s sake. “Uh, I didn’t mean happy place like sex. Well, I mean, I guess that happens here, too, well, has happened here, but I’m just, um, laying down. Ya know, it’s late and my bed is warm.” The babbling.must.stop. “I just really like to sleep.”
His chuckle calmed my nerves. “I like to sleep, too, Z. I guess I was just thinking about you gettin’ cozy in your pajamas.” The tiny yelp noise I made echoed through my room. And the phone. But before I could get awkward, Niall beat me to it.
“Not perverted. Well, maybe a little.” I could already see him pulling at the front of his hair while he tried to explain himself. He let out that damned adorable chuckle again and continued. “I just think you’d look cute curled up in a big bed with lots of blankets. Probably one your gran made ya or something like that.”
My heart was beating so hard I thought it was going to explode. Unable to handle the sweetness, I laughed and said, “Do you have a camera or something in here? I thought you weren’t being perverted?” And I pulled the quilt my Grandma Bechtel made me in elementary school up closer to my chin. It scared me (in a good way, not a Jamie Dornan in The Fall kind of way) that he could imagine a scenario that was basically right on.
“I’ll keep my perverted thoughts to myself, promise. At least for now.”
Okay, well I’ll be good and goddamned if my panties weren’t on fire. “You’re testing my restraint here, Horan. I’m a good girl.”
“I have a feeling anything I say here is going to lead us down a bad path.” His voice had dropped an octave, though, and I could practically SEE the sexual tension in the air. “And, for the record, uh, I think you’re a very good girl, Z.”
Struggling to keep my heart from actually packing up and abandoning my chest, I managed to respond. “I think I should say goodnight, Niall. Or good afternoon in your part of the world.” I barely recognized my own voice. It sounded a little higher and throatier than usual. Oh my god. It was my horny voice. I wasn’t usually in a position to actually listen to myself.
“Yeah I guess it is late there. You go and enjoy your beauty sleep. Not that ya need beauty sleep, I just mean I hope you sleep well. You’re already beautiful. Just, uh, sweet dreams, Z.”
Wow.

Are you ready? 7 drinks for every situations
When we wake up in the morning, we are extremely dehydrated. As most of us sleep for seven-eight hours straight without drinking, we wake up severely dehydrated. And dehydration is always bad for our body. Also, a lot of times, we wake up sleepy or sluggish, devoid of any energy. And other times, our body and brain are so hungover from last night that we cannot function straight.
But all these situations have easy fixes. In this blog, we will discuss some easy drinks that can cure your hangover or make you feel energetic. Let’s check these things out.
Wake up to plenty of water
Make sure the first thing you do after waking up is drink at least two glasses of water. Drinking water helps you flush toxins out of your body and aids your metabolism to kickstart. You can drink plain warm water. Or you can add a few things to it to make it more beneficial for you.
Adding a tbsp of apple cider vinegar to water and drinking it empty stomach helps with lowering blood sugar level and increasing metabolism.
Add lemon to a warm glass and drink it in the morning. It flushes toxin out of your body and aids in digestion too.
Another thing to drink first thing in the morning is coconut water. Make sure though it is pure and unsweetened.
To energize and increase metabolism-
1. Coffee
Coffee is one hell of an energizing drink. It is full of antioxidants and helps with increasing your metabolism too. So, when feeling too low, drink your favourite Nespresso compatible pod. It will help you kickstart the morning well.
If you feel nauseous drinking coffee, empty stomach, eat toast or drink decaf.
2. Vegetable juice
Vegetable juice can help you feel energized in the morning. It is the next best option if coffee is not doing the trick. Kale or spinach work so well as a morning drink to kickstart the day high on energy. These vegetables are full of iron, so your day starts on a nutritious note.
3. Green tea
Green tea with a hint of cinnamon or turmeric increases your metabolism. These herbs aid in losing weight as well.
4. Goji berry juice
Goji berries are small fruits, but they are full of nutrients. It has minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants. It aids you in decreasing stress while increasing your energy levels.
5. Ginger drink for your sensitive stomach
Ginger tea is quite helpful for soothing your sensitive stomach. It also helps with nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach discomfort.
Just grate a bit of ginger tea in boiling water and drain it. After that, drink it, and you will feel better.
6. A drink for curing your hangover
Tomatoes are one of the best cures for a hangover. They hydrate your body and help you recover from alcohol.
7. Smoothies for a great morning breakfast
Smoothies are great, especially if you want a drink that doesn’t make you nausea or give you heartburn. They are also perfect for breakfast. Some smoothies can help you with increasing immunity like the green veggies one. Or you can make a chocolate smoothie as well with protein powder, and so on.
Hope your morning becomes better with these drinks.
