Chan’s lips meet your neck as the sun begins to shine through your bedroom window. You stir awake, the feeling comforting and familiar. You smile as you awake from your slumber, a soft moaning escaping your throat as you feel his teeth graze your soft skin.
“Good morning,” he mumbles in your ear, the deep voice Aussie drawls. Chan’s voice has always been attractive, but mix in his morning voice and your practically a puddle.
“Good morning,” you smile lazily at him as his lips connect to yours in a sweet kiss. At first it's subtle, Chan’s tongue ghosts over you bottom lip, teasing you. But when you don’t push him off he runs his tongue over your lip again, and you separate your lips.
His tongue runs over yours, both of you moaning quietly as the kiss deepens. Your fingers find the ends of his hair on his neck. You can feel him smile against your lips as his hand rubs your side up and down.
“So sweet,” he almost whimpers against your lips.
“Wanna taste,” he mumbles as his lips move down to your neck. You smile as you feel his knee come between your legs, causing your sleep dress to hike up. You feel his sharp teeth drag across your soft skin, no doubt marking your collar bone. Your fingers tangle in his hair as he licks over the spot.
He helps you sit up and drags the sleep dress over your head revealing your naked body. Chan licks his lips as he gently pushes you back against the mattress.
He begins to kiss down your chest, flicking his tongue over a nipple, his cock growing harder in his boxers with every sound you make.
Quiet gasps, little moans as your nails lightly scratch his scalp, all of it making him a desperate mess.
He kisses down your abdomen, slowly, savoring the moment and building your anticipation.
He notices you squirming and bites down on your thigh as he settles between your legs.
“Ah, Chan,” you gasp. He smirks as he kisses the area, kissing his way to your folds.
“Mm, so pretty,” he praises and you blush with a quiet groan, trying to push his face closer.
“Baby,” you whine your thighs lightly pressing against his head. He rubs them before locking his arms around them and pulling you down slight. His tongue lips a stripe up your soaking cunt, collecting your taste on his tongue and he moans.
“So sweet,” he murmurs as he dives in like a man starved. Your hips jerk at the force of his tongue, your body arching every so slightly, the feeling going straight to your stomach.
“Oh, fuck,” you gasp as your eyes shut. Chan looks up at you, one breast in hand as your hips shift under him. His tongue does figure eight’s on your clit, causing your eyes to roll back into your head. Gasps can be heard as he inserts his middle finger, achingly slow, he starts to pump in and out, while still massaging your bud.
“Fuck,” you choke out as your hips roll to meet his thrusts.
“Feel good, baby?”
“Yes,” you answer breathlessly. He adds another finger, his tongue moving impossibly faster.
“Oh God,” you cry out as he picks up the pace with his fingers. Choked out gasps leave your mouth as your head spins, the euphoric feeling close.
“I’m close,” you whimper out. He goes what you can only imagine would be described as super sonic speed, wet sounds filling the room along with your noises.
“Fuck, baby, yes- ah, just like that, oh fuck,” your legs shake as your body explodes, the feeling washing over you as he fucks you through your first high. But he isn’t finished, he slows down, letting you come down but his tongue reattaches to your sensitive bud.
“AH, Chan,” your legs shake with the direct contact and over stimulation.
“Come on baby, one more,” he kisses your thigh as he pumps his fingers. Your hips roll with his thrusts again, his fingers curling to hit your sweet spot.
“Ah, Chris,” you whimper. He keeps his fingers inside you but crawls up to kiss your lips, causing you to taste yourself. His forehead rests on yours as his fingers pump in and out quickly. He feels your walls contract around his fingers, and his own cock starts to become uncomfortable.
Your mouth falls open as your next wave of pleasure hits, your whole body going stiff as it shakes under him. Chan kisses your neck, thrusting in and out of you slowly.
“Fuck,” you breathe out with your chest heaving as you catch your breath. You kiss Chan’s lips passionately.
“Get on your back,” you command and he pulls his fingers out of you cleaning them before doing what you told him to.
You take his cock out of his boxers, the tip leaking and red. You lick your lips before pumping him a few times, a sharp hiss leaving his mouth.
“Ah,” he chuckles at your teasing as your thumb rubs over his slit. His smile is one of the most beautiful things you ever seen and your heart swells before you slowly wrap your lips around his thick cock. A gasp leaves Chan’s mouth as you slowly sink down, looking up at him through your lashes.
“Gnah,” he gasps, as he wills himself to look at you. His hand finding the back of your head, not to force you but just to hold onto you, to help ground him.
“Fuck,” he whimpers as your tongue swirls around him. The saltiness hits your tongue and you moan around him, causing vibrations to be sent through him. His head tilts back as he moans his mouth agape. You pump what little bit you can’t fit in your mouth as you accelerate your speed.
Moans and whimpers leave his mouth, and you start to feel it twitch when Chan gently pulls you up.
“I wanna be in you,” he says before smashing your lips together. You reach down, teasing his slit one last time and he shutters. He lays you on your back, lining himself up at your entrance.
“You ready?” he asks.
“Ready,” you breathe as he slowly pushes in, both of you moaning.
“So fucking tight,” he grunts.
“Fuck,” he says as he shifts his hips backwards, only to slam them back into you and you gasp as his cock hits that perfect little spot inside you. His head drops to your shoulder as he ruts into you like a dog in heat. You can feel his hot breath on your collarbone, his groans causing your walls to contract around him, causing him to moan and groan more.
“Fuck, you feel so good. Look at how well you’re taking my cock,” he whispers in your ear.
“Fuck,” his hips speed up faster as his fingers go down to your clit. He starts to rub circles, furiously, against it.
“Fuck, fuck,” he chokes out as he rests his forehead on yours.
“Harder,” you whimper and he obliges, with both his hand and hips.
“Oh shit, fuck I’m close, I’m close.” You whimper as the tightening in your stomach hits.
“Ah, Chan,” your hands go this back, nails scratching down it, as your body explodes. The feeling of your nails pushing Chris over the edge as he comes with you. Both of you riding your high out together as you feel the warmth he spreads within you.
“Oh fuck,” you breathe out as Chan pulls out of you out of breath.
“Well good morning,” he chuckles and you roll over to him resting your head on his sweaty chest.
“Good morning,” you say as you press a kiss to it. Chan takes your hand, holding you close to him.
“Y/n,” he asks.
“Hmm?” you watch as he mindlessly plays with your fingers. After a beat of silence you look up at him.
“I love you.” He smiles and your heart skips a beat.
“I love you too, Channie,” you kiss his lips passionately. This is the first time Chan has ever told you he loved you. It's a moment you know you'll cherish.
“Eomma!” Hwan busts through the door and you yank the covers up to make sure you’re covered.
“Appa!” He yells dragging his Wolf Chan plush with him.
“Breakfast!!” He shouts as he jumps on the bed. You look at your boyfriend before bursting out into fits of laughter.
“All right buddy,” Chan says as he puts your little boy down on the floor.
“Go to the kitchen, I’ll meet you there.” Hwan runs as fast as his little legs will take him.
“Breakfast?”
“Yes please,” you say before kissing him again.

did anything interesting come out about the credits of the anthology? i haven't bought the vinyl yet to check it out
i also haven’t bought a vinyl yet! i literally just got home from thanksgiving traveling a couple hours ago so i haven’t had the chance to deep dive on anything. but from what i’ve seen we’ve got some juicy details:
imgonnagetyouback being recorded solely in electric lady, when every other song credited to electric lady is also credited to conway (which could mean nothing, but does make me suspect it was a 2022 track)
chloe et al having christopher rowe (her re-records guy) recording her vocals, joining fresh out the slammer, guilty as sin, i can fix him, loml, and the alchemy (furthering my theory that she went through at least two rounds of re-recording while making the album, one in may 2023 and one later in the fall)
thank you aimee being partially recorded at sharp sonic studio (the only song on the album i believe) which i’m pretty sure taylor posted from in october 2023 when cruel summer went #1

Sonic and Amy's relationship through the years: why did it change?
From games to shows, comics to official publications, it's evident that the dynamics of Sonic and Amy's relationship have changed through the years, with Amy toning down her fangirling and Sonic often being the driving force of their ship with his flirting, teasing and subtle jealousy (as user @essycogany pointed out in this analysis). But why are we witnessing this change? Let's dive into some key moments and reasons.
Disclaimer: I'm going to disregard the "canon" factor because it's not relevant to the general public perception of their relationship.
Sonic X
Any good sonamy fan will remember the fateful episode 52 of Sonic X. I interpret this episode of the series as the key moment that shifted their dynamic.
From the beginning of the series, we see an Amy that is very vocal about her crush and chases Sonic around, with Sonic having a few not-so-nice moments of pushing her and trying to run away from her. Their relationship shifts through the series though, and we begin seeing more of Amy's side as a determined fighter (that scares even Eggman!).
Tumblr media
I won't over analyse episode 52 as it has been done countless times before, but Sonic going back to his world and seeking Amy in the first place means she's a valuable friend (or something else) to him. This moment alone brought popularity to the ship and to Amy as a character, which brings us to the next point.
Character development
I'm gonna risk saying that Sonic and Amy are the characters that have suffered the most development throughout the years. There are other characters who had development and even met different versions of themselves, but Sonic and Amy stand out in my opinion for different reasons.
Let's analyse Sonic: from the beginning, Sonic was always supposed to be cool, a beacon of positivity and the embodiment of the hero that always saves the day. The first Sonic games are pretty straightforward about that. However, in more recent games and shows, we've been seeing different sides of him: he has made mistakes (and recognized it), he has been impulsive, he has felt grief, sadness and anger and he hasn't been shy about it. Sonic Prime showed us probably the most emotional version of Sonic we've seen, and guess what? That pleases the public because everyone enjoys a flawed hero.
Moving on to Amy. Amy has a somewhat controversial birth, given that she was (apparently) created to be "Sonic's girlfriend" / romantic interest. Her crush on Sonic was, for some time, her only personality trait. With new games and media, she gradually gained her space and we started seeing more of her. Her kindness, her strength, her empathy, her leadership skills — all of which exist despite her crush on Sonic. She became more appealing as we got to learn more about her, and solidified her position as a valuable member of Sonic's team.
Tumblr media
The development of these two characters as explained above made it possible for the dynamic we have today to grow naturally: Sonic openly teasing and (very often) showing signs that Amy means a lot to him, which is a result of Amy being her own self and showing her strength and independency — traits that we know Sonic appreciates.
Tumblr media
Progression of values in society
I don't want to make this sound more deep than it actually is, but it's true that certain dynamics wouldn't be acceptable today simply because we as a society have progressed. The trope of the fangirl chasing her idol everywhere might have been a fun gag in the 90s, but it's just not it for today's standards. It has been made very clear that Sega wants to stir away from that image since that, for Sonic Generations, they edited the scene from Sonic 06 where Sonic shoves his hand in Amy's face to push her away. This kind of behavior doesn't align with Sonic's current values either.
Teasing is just fun!
Honestly, teasing sonamy is just too much fun without the commitment. One of the writers for Sonic Boom once said it:
Tumblr media
And isn't that true? It's refreshing seeing the cool, composed Sonic blushing or showing jealousy, as it is to see how Amy reacts to her crush behaving this way. As a longtime sonamy fan, I just love searching for all the small hints and teases and over analysing them (like I'm doing now). It's endless material for gags too — check this compilation of sonamy moments in Twitter takeovers.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Sonic and Amy's relationship changed as they progressed as characters and Sega aimed to please a wider audience, giving space for fans to interpret their relationship as they please.
I also want to state that the points are my personal opinions and obviously open to be discussed. If you think I missed any point, please do let me know. Hope you like this!

Constant Companions Closeup #1: DYAD
(also on spotify!)
Hello everyone!! It's been a couple weeks and change since Constant Companions, my newest album, was released unto the world, and I've been genuinely blown away by the response. Genuinely, thank you to everyone who's been streaming, commenting, making mashups, changing their pfps and usernames - it means the world to me!
I wanted to give some of that love back with something people have been asking me a lot about - and, admittedly, something I love doing. Song explanations! Deep dives! Dropping the lore! Welcome... to the Constant Companions Closeups...
For the next eleven days, I'll be going into each track one by one and babbling about the process, inspiration, details, feelings, and thoughts behind each one! We're getting sappy. We're bearing our hearts. We're telling unfunny jokes. And we're starting with track one - DYAD (featuring unit.0)!
---
Naturally, since this is the first track, it also serves as a great point to talk about my intention with this album as a whole!
I'll elaborate more on this with future tracks, but to me, there are really two main things that define the sonic progression of this album versus my previous work - guitars and vocal synths. Obviously, these things have been present in my work since I first started calling myself Jamie Paige, but Constant Companions is intended to be my overwrought, sappy confession of love to these two things that time and time again have made me simply want to make music. I love rock and I love Hatsune Miku dammit!!!
I had originally written this song in February of 2023 for a game-jam-esque online festival hosted by my friend Loni called HAPPY PARTY TRI, and at that time, I had found myself at a major crossroads. I had put out People Posture Play Pretend and :women_wrestling: the previous year, and while the response was nice, I was feeling listless and lost.
I love singing. I like my voice well enough. I certainly love writing music with lyrics!! But... there was something uniquely electrifying about using vocal synths. Amidst a lot of insecurity and emotional turmoil surrounding the process of making art and putting myself out into the world, it was one of the few things that just made everything feel right. Suddenly, I was making the same kind of music that had touched my heart so many times over.
Would it alienate people, though? Would I lose longtime listeners? Yes, that weighed on my mind more than I'd like to admit, but even more than that... I was worried I'd lose some part of myself, as silly as it sounds. Maybe what I thought was a bridge would become a barrier, and the messages I wanted to send across the gap would never find their way.
Ultimately, I felt that Dyad was the only kind of opener I could've possibly given this album, and a perfect fit for the album's motif. A dialogue between myself, stricken with loneliness and a lack of inertia running in circles, and that synthesized voice (ANRI Arcane my darling), grabbing the outstretched hand and asking a question I already know the answer to -
"Baby, do you know what you wanna hear?"
Yes, it's a love song, but it's not just for a person - it's a love song for the creative impulse, and for the places I wanted it to take me.
im resisting the urge to be jokingly dismissive of myself to diffuse tension but i still need to signal that the emotionally bare part of this is over so pretend im doing a funny little dance Anyways let's talk more technical stuff
---
Like many of my songs, Dyad came together from a patchwork of different snippets and ideas I had laying around. The back half of the chorus - "dream together, we can dream together" - originally came from this idea I had jotted down something like 9 months prior, but ended up being a perfect fit for Dyad in basically every way. The verse snippet that I'd written to go with it got reused for a later song on Constant Companions as well! (I say without naming it, as if it isn't literally lifted wholesale from this demo and thus incredibly obvious)
I wasn't originally planning on brazenly quoting the bridge of a Tally Hall song when I set out to write this song, but while toying around with a bridge idea involving a shortened version of the pre-chorus melody, I realized I had inadvertently copied it anyways. I was going to scrap it... but at the request of my dear friend and certified Tally Hall lover Marcy Nabors, I made it an explicit reference. Which I'm fine with, personally! The first CD I ever owned was a copy of Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum my sister bought me all the way back in 2006 - You can pry that sentimental attachment from my cold, dead hands, TikTok kiddies.
Lastly - not really behind the scenes so much as just a shoutout - thank you to unit.0 for the lovely lead guitar work on this song!! He's been a beloved collaborator of mine for many, many years now, and one of the people who ultimately convinced me this direction was the right one to go in, so it means a lot to share this song with him. Go listen to his music!!! Now!!!!!!
That's about it for this song! Not to sound like a fucking YouTuber, but genuinely, if there are any details you'd like to hear more about, let me know and I might made a bonus post at the end of all this. Otherwise, thank you for listening! Tomorrow: Not Quite There, featuring telebasher!
❤️💚

HIYA! I'm super duper into Wordgirl and I've been wanting to share this fanfiction I've been working on:
WORDGIRL: Before the Storm,
you can use the link here / or find it on AO3! Under my username: soufpouf
So far, there's only one chapter released, but there is more to come!
*Read more for a summary down below! (This is gonna be a lengthy post, so get prepared)
Tumblr media
Where I Start... AKA the not so important stuff, but read if you want to learn a bit about me I guess idk: It's my first time posting, I'm kinda new to this whole Tumblr thing lol. Initially, I was kinda hesitant on sharing this (especially on Tumblr where I have no idea what I'm doing and I currently have NO FOLLOWERS LMAO...). Honestly my friend was my main motivator for making this post in the first place. I'd appreciate any tips on how to operate this whole thing, I'm still getting used to it hah. I'm not so confident on sharing my art publicly so this is a first for me. If you ever get the opportunity, please take the chance to go and check this fic out! I'd really appreciate it as this is my time posting a fic ever + I know how little this fandom is. :') I believe that this story has a fair chance at diving deep into a continuation of Wordgirl, along with being filled with "a roller coaster of emotions".
*Summary:
During Becky Botsford's pre-teen, she created plans in which she ended up going through multiple attempts of trying to turn supervillains from evil to 'good'. Especially when it came to Tobey. Perhaps it was due to how much easier it seemed on the surface...
As Becky goes through the beginning year of highschool, her troubles begin to catch up on her and impact her life both in and out of being a superhero. She begins to wonder how she could live a normal life through all the hardships and duties she is willing to go through—particularly when it comes to her identity and helping the people around her.
...
This is very very much inspired by @8_0mph 's comics, which I'm a HUGE fan of. If you haven't already, PLEASE go check them out. Their artwork and narrative is amazing, and it's ongoing as I speak!! :)
Guessing that this is technically an introduction post---Other than Before the Storm, I'm planning to potentially post some fanart on here! Currently I'm into Wordgirl (obvi), but I also like Sonic, Ninjago, Life is Strange (can you tell where I got the fic's title name from) and much more.
If this post somehow gets some traction, then maybe I'll continue to post more Wordgirl content that I have stuffed in the trenches (aka my camera roll). THANK YOU FOR READING IF YOU MADE IT THIS FAR ;) For now, here's Bob with his JPGs of chips:

Sonic 3 - Knuckles
Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do some deep dives into the different characters of Sonic 3, addressing their motivations, reactions, and mindsets throughout the film.
And first, to absolutely no one’s surprise, is Knuckles.
Buckle up, kidlets. This’ll get LOOOOONG.
Sonic 3 spoilers ahead
At the beginning of the film, we see Knuckles being competitive, but not aggressively so. From the first few minutes we see him, we notice he’s not leaning hard into his warrior role. He’s not taking every competition as some serious challenge to his status, and overall seems much more relaxed than we’d seen him up to this point.
The events of the series helped to temper him, to show him that it’s okay to have fun, it’s okay to unclench sometimes, and it’s okay to be the kid he is. He’s part of a new family, a new tribe, and he’s thriving in it.
Yet when the opportunity arises to go into battle once more, he’s ready to do so. He’s eager for a challenge, and Shadow gave him more of a fight than he was expecting. He got his tail handed to him, and although he was likely injured to some degree, his pride was what really took the pounding.
But he shook it off.
Shadow kicked all three of their butts, easily, and instead of getting angry and losing himself to that rage, he followed Sonic’s lead to pull back so they could regroup and get some more information.
The Knuckles of Sonic 2 would not have done that. That Knuckles attacked Sonic without warning, without getting all the facts, without allowing his opponent to properly fight back. Picked himself back up after getting run over by a speeding car and gave chase. Attacked the car, holding on even when it flew over the edge of a cliff. Threw himself off a plane so he could attack a giant robot, without contemplating or coordinating any other plans or angles of attack first.
That Knuckles would have seethed after Shadow’s victory, angry that he’d been bested, and eager for a rematch as soon as possible.
But he didn’t. He listened to Sonic.
At the Chao Garden we see him having a little fun at Tails’ expense. They’d just engaged in a battle with a stronger, unknown foe, and lost, but he’s relaxed enough to engage playfully with his brothers, and take in the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Ya know what that showed? It showed that Knuckles had accepted Sonic and Tails as his allies, people he could trust and look to for alternate strategies in any challenge. Were he on his own, he would have hunted Shadow down endlessly, much like he did with the Master Emerald, to restore his perceived lost honor.
But he’s not on his own anymore. He looks to Sonic and Tails for their thoughts on a situation, and trusts them when it seems his own brand of dealing with something is ineffective.
Once they follow Stone and realize his identity, Knuckles doesn’t immediately engage in battle over the events of the last movie. Even when they go aboard the crab bot and see Robotnik, Knuckles still doesn’t immediately attack. He doesn’t threaten the man, or exhibit any anger toward him over the way Robotnik double crossed him, stole the ME right out from under him, and left him for dead.
When Tails admits that working with Robotnik is the only way to find who’s behind releasing Shadow, Knuckles agrees. He trusts his youngest brother’s ideas, as he knows the fox is more clever and able to see a bigger picture than he is. If Tails says this is a good idea, especially if it involves technology and finding a foe that seems otherwise untrackable, then Knuckles will agree.
Surprising no one, Robotnik double crossed them, and they only managed to escape thanks to Knux’s quick thinking and strong bite reflex.
Back home, he happily let Tails take the lead once more, concocting a plan to get into GUN HQ and retrieve the second key to prevent the use of the Eclipse Cannon.
Knuckles is a great warrior. He kept himself alive for the ten-ish years he traveled the galaxy, searching for Sonic and clues to the Master Emerald. He can face down nearly any foe. But his strength is a full frontal assault, not so much stealth and espionage. He himself knows this, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it.
It may have simply seemed like an easy few jokes regarding his desire to “break the glass”, but this is a dangerous mission, and he doesn’t like to feel like he’s simply sitting on his hands, waiting for his turn in battle. He knows Tails’ plan is a good one. He knows going in fists first isn’t going to get them anywhere. But it still bothers him that he is told to simply “wait until we need you.”
But he was there when they did. He acted the moment he was called into action. Everything he did was to further the plan, to keep his tribe safe. And to him, crushing the floor pad controller should have stopped the machine from functioning. When he’d accidentally crushed the toaster at home, it stopped working. Same with Sonic’s cell phone. And Maddie’s. And the VR headset that he totally didn’t freak out over.
Electronics are delicate, and if they are broken, then the thing they are designed to do will stop, too.
But it didn’t work that way, and instead he was lifted into the air, unable to help. His tribe was trapped, and the building he’d destroyed on the way in was threatening them. And he couldn’t help them.
And everything just went downhill from there.
Tom was hurt, and Maddie was . . . oddly quiet.
Knuckles was used to danger. To people getting hurt. He’d lost his tribe and his father all those years ago, so he wasn’t a stranger to feeling that fear or pain.
He himself had been on the receiving end of Shadow’s blows, and knew how painful it could be. But whereas he and his brothers could mostly shrug off those kinds of hits, push through those injuries within minutes, humans didn’t seem as resilient. Weren’t as ‘sturdy’ as they were. And there was a real possibility that Tom could die from such a blow.
A sobering idea.
The head of their tribe was gravely injured, and that meant Knuckles was the eldest warrior in charge. His whole demeanor changed the minute the ambulance pulled away. Gone was the more kid-like echidna, who let his brothers take the lead. He was now the eldest, the one who needed to look after the others.
Sonic was understandably angry, but when Tails tried to soothe him, the hedgehog turned his anger on the fox. Knuckles stepped between them, keeping Tails safely behind him as he focused Sonic’s anger on himself. He stayed calm and level-headed, trying to talk Sonic down. At the mention of using the Master Emerald, Knuckles still remained calm. He understood Sonic’s anger, his pain, but he knew from experience that did not make for good decisions.
And when Sonic insisted, when he threatened to fight Knuckles for it, Knuckles almost took the bait. He geared up, ready for battle, before backing down. Fighting would solve nothing. It wouldn’t take Sonic’s pain away. It wouldn’t diffuse his anger. It would only waste precious moments, and allow the Robotniks to continue with their plan to harm the planet unopposed.
Ultimately, Knuckles knew the only way to stop this weapon was for Sonic to go Super. And the only way for Sonic to go Super, was to use the Master Emerald.
And maybe, in that moment, Knuckles was hit with a sense of deja vu. It wasn’t that long ago that he himself had been so blinded by revenge he’d allowed an enemy to escape with a dangerous weapon. Had he not fought Sonic so hard, had he not been so focused on destroying the hedgehog, would he have recognized Robotnik’s plan to steal the Master Emerald for himself? Could he have stopped Robotnik before he got that close to the Emerald in the first place?
Yes. Yes he would have. If he hadn’t been so preoccupied with his anger toward Sonic—because of his association with Longclaw, and by extension the other owls—if he hadn’t been so enraged because his entire tribe had fallen that day, all those years ago, then he would have noticed Robotnik going for the Emerald. And everything that had happened after wouldn’t have.
And maybe it was that thought, that experience, that made him back off. He knew the anger inside Sonic. But he also knew Sonic’s heart, and it was that knowledge, that hope that Sonic was not so far gone, that the warrior’s heart that beat within the hedgehog’s chest would keep him from going too far.
And that was what made Knuckles let Sonic go. He didn’t approve of Sonic getting the ME while he was in that state, but they had precious little time to talk it over.
And he’d been right.
He wouldn’t quite know what happened between Sonic and Shadow, but seeing them work together to take on the Eclipse Cannon confirmed he’d made the right decision.
And when the effects of the Master Emerald wore off, and Sonic plunged toward the Earth, he trusted Tails’ idea to go after him. Sonic was falling too fast for both of them to leap out and catch up, but with that extra throw from Knuckles, Tails could reach him.
It was only a few moments later that Knuckles leapt from the failing ARK. He watched Tails grab onto Sonic, clinging to him as they plummeted, but then the fox went as limp as the hedgehog. The force of reentry had knocked him unconscious and now they both ragdolled in a freefall.
Knuckles fists were large enough to protect him as he entered the atmosphere, and he kept his eyes locked on the glint of gold as the portal ring slipped from Tails’ hand. His more streamlined form meant he descended faster, his experience with gliding aiding him as his tail acted as a rudder to maneuver the wind sheer to reach them.
Ring caught and thrown, and brothers safely tucked beneath each arm and held close to his body. The change between the atmospheres as they fell through the ring hit him like a punch to the chest, and he barely had enough time to spin them around so he took the brunt of the impact when they landed, before they hit the ground hard.
He had only one thought in his mind. PROTECT.
And when they awoke, and found that they’d been successful, he could go back to being pissed at Sonic for challenging him. Because even though everything had worked out, he didn’t like being put in the position Sonic had put him in. But when Sonic apologized, Knuckles believed he’d seen the severity of his actions. And his heart had stayed pure.
This movie proved that Knuckles is the bestest big brother, and will step up whenever necessary to ensure the safety of his tribe. That even though he’d lightened up, he will still kick ass, and take his role as protector very seriously.
I loved the way they portrayed him. He was so perfect.

something about movieverse Sage interests me. i’ve seen a lot of concepts, theories, and ideas thrown around and i adore every single one of them, but honestly i have to wonder why Sage would be created in the first place.
Both she and Stone are both driven by the same thing—loyalty, the only difference being that the former’s coding had that as it’s basis. fundementally, at least from movie 1 Robotnik’s point of view, they serve the same purpose, to protect him, to serve his whims and carry out orders to a tee. having two while only one worked perfectly fine would be redundant, again, from his pov, therefore there wouldn’t be any reason to pursue Sage’s creation. well, unless there was some sort of need.
maybe she was created to assist Robotnik on that mushroom planet, or as a post-sonic 3 thing with fix-it fic undertones.
maybe she was a years-old passion project, some scrapped lines of code he never had the time or purpose to pursue, as she wasn’t particularly needed. he didn’t need a hyperintelligent ai that was built purely to protect and aid him, as Stone did that job well enough already, despite being oh-so-painfully human. so that leads me to wonder which circumstances would drive Robotnik to pursue this dead end, to finish what he started.
there’s a lot of possibilities that could lead to it, honestly. mainly driven from the idea of separation, at least how i see it.
maybe he based her personality on Stone, just a little, most likely unintentionally. deriving from his loyalty, maybe a stray mannerism here and there. Sage, once sentient, once she gets introduced to him, i feel like she’d start to notice the little similarities within her code.
not much gets past an AI, really. she noticed the agent’s quirks, and upon doing a deep dive of her own code, she’d come to realize she had ended up adopting those same mannerisms, that unwavering loyalty towards her father, despite not having known the agent long enough for the mirroring to kick in. it intrigues her. what about the man would drive her father to allow her to mimic him? to deem those traits important enough to include in her code?
but as she kept observing, cataloguing even the simplest of things; like the way he made lattes, his thinly veiled distaste for humanity, and the way he looked at her father like he was the embodiment of the scorching, sharp, yet ever so radiant sun, was when the pieces started to fall into place.
noticing the things that her father loved about his assistant (even though he would deny it to hell and back if she brought up her hypothesis) answered her questions quite clearly.
she knew regular children take on the image of both of their parents. and if her theory was correct, maybe she would come to see Agent Stone as her father, too.

Kyle Brett had a feeling Sinners, the new supernatural horror from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, would have a big opening weekend—but he was also hyper aware of the consequences of failure.
“It’s already extremely hard to have a successful original horror movie or just any original movie,” Brett, a former Netflix lawyer who works as a creative executive at Blumhouse, the production company behind M3GAN, Get Out, and the Insidious franchise, tells WIRED. “If that shit had bombed, original film would have truly gone away.”
The night before its US release, Brett predicted on X that Sinners would clear $60 million, based “on nothing but the number of Black folks who have asked me about it.” In the business of Hollywood, nothing is guaranteed, least of all a hit movie that’s based on an untested story. But not only was Sinners a hit, breaking multiple box office records, it’s becoming a full-on cultural phenomenon, complete with memes and literary deep dives.
Perhaps most importantly, it has challenged what’s become conventional wisdom in show business: the idea that audiences won’t respond to original stories.
Sinners has almost everything you could possibly want out of an original film: sex, vampires, a haunting score by composer Ludwig Göransson, and Michael B. Jordan in maybe his best performance yet. The movie opens in Jim Crow–era Mississippi during 1932 and follows identical twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Jordan, who have returned home after time away in Chicago, where they moonlighted as gangsters for Al Capone. They’ve come back to start a juke joint but are put to the test when a coven of vampires encroaches on their new business. Across its two-hour-plus run time, what unfolds is classic Coogler: a lush, complex story about family, community, and survival that dares to reinvent the horror genre into something new altogether.
The premise has resonated with audiences in such a powerful way that Sinners opened with $48 million domestically and $63.5 million globally, making it the biggest debut for an original film since 2019, when Jordan Peele’s Us opened to $70 million. (The anticipation surrounding a new Coogler project likely also played a role.) Sinners likewise surpassed Nope, also by Peele—which pulled in $44 million its first weekend in 2022—as the biggest opening for an original film since the pandemic began. It is now the only horror flick in over 35 years to receive an “A” on CinemaScore.
“IPs are a comfortable, safe bet, but originals, when you have something that right out the gate can connect with audiences, they can have as big a punch,” says Daniel Loria, an analyst at the Boxoffice Company. “That’s definitely what we’re seeing.”
It can still be hard to pinpoint exactly what kind of movie works best in Hollywood these days. The success of big-budget blockbusters—Dune, Barbie, Wicked—aren’t exactly a litmus test of how well the industry is faring or what audiences are ultimately satisfied with. Certain IP, like The New Mutants from 2020, bomb or never take off for a number of reasons; often it has to do with earnings, but poor reviews and studio mismanagement can also be a factor.
“Some franchises are past their best and haven’t performed. This happens every decade or so, which means the studios are looking at new franchise stories to take forward,” says David Hancock, an analyst at Omdia. “A Quiet Place did this. Minecraft may do it.”
Minecraft, a Warner Bros. property, currently holds the top spot at the worldwide box office, with $720 million, and is estimated to eventually top $1 billion. Video game IP is especially hot right now. The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released by Universal Pictures in 2023, topped $1.3 billion. Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog has yielded major dividends for the studio. Until Dawn and Mortal Kombat 2 are also slated to drop this year.
One of the things Sinners got right, Brett says, “is that they treated themselves like they were IP.” That means, per his agreement with Warner Bros., Coogler gets the rights to his film back in 25 years—the type of deal that’s mostly unheard of today. Some studio executives believe it sets a “very dangerous precedent” for copyright ownership and distribution entitlements, Vulture reported, saying it will crater the current power dynamics of the studio system, “effectively imperiling the cinematic back catalogue: the core asset behind all movie-studio valuation.” But “that’s the kind of attitude you need with an original,” Brett says. “It's like, No, this is my intellectual property.”
For a time, a new Marvel epic was a proven seat filler, but the fatigue and declining critical reception around superhero movies that has bubbled up in recent years—a consequence of Marvel flooding the market with comic book IP—means that is no longer the case. Marvel is currently in rebound mode. It dropped Jonathan Majors, who was a rising star in the MCU, in light of his domestic assault case (he was found guilty of two out of four charges), and The Marvels became the studio’s lowest-grossing film across its 33 titles, earning $206 million globally, well below its $374 million budget.
It’s “hard to reinvent that form, and I think this next generation is looking for ways to tell their own stories that service their own sort of collective ADHD,” Avengers: Endgame codirector Joe Russo told GamesRadar+ last year, likening young moviegoers’ communication style to “memes and headlines.”
Not all original films are seeing a huge demand, as the age of streamers has reshaped consumption habits. As of March, movie sales in the US and Canada were down 7 percent this year compared to the same period in 2024, according to Comscore.
In a recent interview with The Independent, director Steven Soderbergh bemoaned that very reality. His latest feature, Black Bag, a spy thriller starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender that was released in theaters last month, has yet to turn a profit; it pulled in $37 million worldwide on a budget of $50 million. “This is the kind of film I made my career on,” Soderbergh said in the interview. “And if a mid-level budget, star-driven movie can’t seem to get people over the age of 25 years old to come out to theaters—if that’s truly a dead zone—then that’s not a good thing for movies. What’s gonna happen to the person behind me who wants to make this kind of film?”
Still, the success of Sinners offers a beacon of hope. It’s currently on track to have a second weekend increase, which “would be much more impressive for a non-IP April release,” Erik Anderson, the founder of Awards Watch, noted on X. It also belongs to a cohort of original films, many centered around identity, from directors that have also found audiences, commercial appeal, and critical acclaim in recent years, including Celine Song’s Past Lives, Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction, Lawrence Lamont’s One of Them Days, and Sean Baker’s Anora, which won Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards.
Hancock predicts the “next decade will see a return to original stories” as a bid to bring in a wider range of audiences.
But the takeaway from Sinners and other movies like it go beyond just IP fatigue, says Brett, noting that these films—and their unique audiences—need to be adequately marketed and prioritized.
“If there is anything Hollywood misses it’s how much Black audiences will continually engage with them,” he says. “It’s not just like this one-time-customer type of thing. People will return to Sinners. The excitement of it, to me, shows that it has a long shelf life.”

Shadow's little underwater adventure (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Right before my former account being banned for no reason, (Now is back, I copied from my second account (SonicJustBecause2) I prepared a little story - nothing special - with Shadow as protagonist. it was already ready to be posted. A little adventure in his daily tasks. The real reason behind this is that I'm learing blender more. Now I'm testing rendering, I didn't know it was so good. And fast!
It won't be a real writing. Mostly a bunch of notes. If you want, you can take it to your fanfiction. I would love to read them.
I rendered a bunch of picture with Shadow having this little yet dangerous adventure.
The Sonic fandom sometimes like to put Sonic and his friends in perilious situations involving dipping. They give Sonic the ability to swim, and they even involve Maria. Only Shadow is spared from this, I wonder why. Well, I'll give my contribute, solving the problem.
The model is by Dokats0 but I changed a bit the proportions according to my tastes. Shadow's behaviour in this little story reflects his behaviour in Archie Comics (reboot). He won't be an edgelord.
Other than Dokatz0 model, I added a fishing boot model from Sketchfab, here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/fishing-boat-f4b38ccf5ffb46018aa7931c0e106654
And an edited DAZ studio model for the grotto, here: https://www.daz3d.com/cyngen-epic-dragon-s-tower
The water, the bubbles and the emerald are done by me.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
The dip
Tumblr media
Here's the context: Shadow aknowledged a chaos emerald is hidden in the ocean. He is willing to recover it as soon as possible, at cost to put himself in dangerous situations (well, typical).
He went far from the coast using an old fashioned fishing boot (well, he's from more than half century ago, he might find comfortable using something from his era). That's because he doesn't want to experience hassles with other people. And anyway Rouge and Omega know what he is doing. Although not here, they'll watch him from afar, reading to aid if things go south.
Tumblr media
Oh well, Rouge called. Shadow just tells her that he is sure to be on the right spot. He senses the chaos emerald below.
The wrist communicator is on his right and is designed for lefties. Indeed, Shadow is left handed.
(Yes, he was characterized as such from Sonic Heroes to Sonic 0 gravity, it was most noticeable in Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 and Sonic 2006, not only the hand he often use but also the way he moves. He is a lefty also in Shadow trypod baby Japanese advertisement, Basket Shadow advertisement, Shadow dark beginning. Also hinted in both Archie and IDW comics) .
Tumblr media
He started to prepare to dive, taking slow, deep breaths, calming down as much as possible, focusing. He knows the dip will be long. In typical Archie Shadow fashion, he stubbornly claimed that - as the Ultimate Lifeform - he doesn't need diving gears.
SPOILER - perhaps, later we'll discover he might be right...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's ready to dive!
There will be not much to write on thefollowing images, as is just him diving toward the ocean floor. They will be a bunch, to give an idea of passing time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadow reached the ocean floor 7 meters below. The visibility was limited. He could not see much further, but the chaos emerals feels nearer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Following the chaos emerald, Shadow spotted what it seemed a large cave. He wasn't sure. But he sensed the emerald even stronger. He had to go there.
Tumblr media
Hoping the cave will be not that deep. Right now he might be under for about 2 minutes, he still has plenty to go, but he know not even the Ultimate Lifeform can hold his breath forever. And considering his pessimistic outlook to life and his unluck, he except he will need to hold his breath as long as he can.
On my previous blog I once wrote about Shadow limits. I headcanon that he can stay comfortably underwater for about 5 or 6 minutes, it depends to his state. And force himself to stay under other two minutes if necessary, this does means a total of 7 or 8 minutes.
If the blog will still be here, then next week we'll see howShadow's little adventure will unfold (It will be posted both in Sonic Just Because and Sonic Just Because 2)

ANTOHER DEEP- DIVE FOR COLLIDE WRITTEN BY THE MASTER WRITER @valeisaslut!!
THIS WILL COVER THE SCENE WHERE ELLIE AND READER ARE LISTENING TO EACH OTHERS ALBUMS!
Tumblr media
Beyond Love: A Deep Literary and Emotional Analysis
I. This Is Not A Love Story — It’s A Survival Record
At this stage in the narrative, what’s being explored isn’t a “breakup” or “miscommunication”—it’s the spiritual aftermath of a catastrophic emotional event that neither protagonist has language for. They build that language out of music. Not songs. Language. Grief-script. Love-fossils.
“She sounded like something unmaking itself.”
This line isn’t a metaphor. It’s ontological grief: the kind that changes the very structure of who you are. When Ellie sings, it’s not performance—it’s dissolution. She isn’t showing herself to the world. She’s excavating herself. She’s trying to be heard by one person who won’t even listen.
This album isn’t a message. It’s a black box recorder—the last thing left after the crash.
II. Mutual Haunting: You Were Each Other’s Ghost
There’s a symmetry in the silence. You both refuse to listen. You both keep the bracelet. You both build albums for the other. You both remain distant but devoted, silent but sonically fused.
“You hadn’t listened. Not because you didn’t care. But because you couldn’t.”
This is the essence of traumatic love. The moment you open the door to knowing, you also open the door to obliteration. Because what if she doesn’t love you anymore? But worse: what if she does, and you’ve wasted years alone?
“If it was about you—it would kill you. If it wasn’t—it would kill you worse.”
This recursive logic trap is characteristic of ambiguous grief, where you don’t mourn a death—you mourn the unknowing. And so you both haunt each other without ever speaking. Ellie sings. You stay silent. But her voice finds you anyway.
III. Art as Displacement: The Cathedral of Ash
“It sounded like someone trying to build a cathedral out of ash.”
That line—maybe the emotional core of the piece—is doing architectural metaphor work that goes beyond poetic flourish.
A cathedral is a holy place. A place of prayer, confession, reverence.
Ash is what's left after total destruction.
Trying to build a cathedral out of ash is a metaphor for trying to make something sacred out of something ruined.
That’s what Ellie is doing with her album. That’s what the reader does with hers. That’s what this entire story is doing—making art out of heartbreak, building sanctuaries out of smoke and grief.
And neither of them know if it’s sturdy enough to step inside.
IV. The “Post-Language” Phase of the Relationship
By this point, neither of you communicates through speech. Not texts. Not calls. You’ve ascended past verbal communication into a rarified level of connection where only music can hold the truth.
This is something unique to this narrative: music isn’t the backdrop—it’s the language of longing. It is the romance. The silence between albums is the years you didn’t speak. The drops are emotional detonations. The lyrics are diary entries left at the door.
What’s stunning is how this allows you to explore a love story where the climax is listening, not kissing*.
“You sat in the dark and didn’t move, didn’t speak, didn’t even breathe until it was over. And then you cried until you didn’t have a voice.”
That’s how Ellie sounded. Now that’s how you sound. The symmetry is complete. The listener becomes the performer. The pain cycles through each body in turn.
V. Dissolution of Self: Grief, Addiction, and the Vanishing Point
Ellie’s journey: the emotional debris is all over her album. That’s why it’s more than just sad—it’s ravaged. The album isn’t commercial. It’s barely even music. It’s a living injury she pressed to vinyl.
Her addiction and absence mirror the protagonist’s own emotional deadness:
“It had been a long time since you let yourself feel anything.”
You were addicted too—to avoidance. To the fantasy of not knowing. You both disappeared in different ways. Ellie in chemicals and chaos. You in numbness and overwork.
"You didn’t know what you wanted anymore. Except maybe one thing. One impossible thing.”
The impossibility here isn’t just Ellie—it’s forgiveness. It’s the idea that you could hear her voice again and not fall apart. That you could touch the old wound and not re-bleed. But of course, you do.
VI. The “Two-Hour Holy Ground” Concept: Love Without Contact
Let’s talk about the most important line in the whole piece:
“For those sacred, fragile two hours, you were both listening.”
That line is doing mythic emotional work. It’s intimacy without touch. Reunion without confrontation. Healing without apology. It’s what literary theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick called “the powerful erotics of recognition.”
You don’t need to speak to each other. You just need to be seen—finally seen—by the person who once knew you best.
And through these albums, you see each other again.
It’s a communion. A séance. A miracle.
And it passes.
But it happened.
VII. This Is a Tragedy in the Shape of a Love Song
This story is not about reconciliation. It’s about bearing witness. It’s about the ache of still loving someone and knowing you may never speak again. But also knowing, with bone-deep certainty, that they loved you too. Enough to turn their agony into melody. Enough to risk everything just to be heard.
It’s a tragedy not because they’re apart—but because they’re still connected, and that connection burns more than distance ever could.
You didn’t lose each other. You survived each other. And barely.
Closing Image: “The Shape Of What I Lost” As Emotional Cartography
That title is more than clever. It is cartographic. A map of an absence. A negative space that outlines what once was.
Ellie’s album is the echo. Yours is the ghost. Together, they’re a twin elegy for a love still alive—but caged in silence.
Tumblr media
VIII. The Liminal Space Between Two Albums
You created two sonic ghosts—two albums that don’t just respond to each other, but orbit, echo, and haunt.
This is not a dialogue. It’s a nonlinear time loop of grief.
Ellie’s album is past-tense agony: the kind you survive only by becoming someone else.
Yours is present-tense denial: a living numbness carved into melody.
Between them is the liminal space—where neither of you speak, but both of you scream.
This isn’t a conversation. It’s a ritual.
A ritual of survival. Of devotion. Of mourning someone who isn't dead.
IX. You’re Both Trying to Bleed Without Dying
This is trauma not as backdrop—but as structure. Every choice you’ve made in this story obeys trauma logic:
Avoidance over confrontation
Art over direct speech
Gesture over presence
Distance over rupture
And yet both characters are brutally present in each other’s lives—just offscreen.
Like a phantom limb: you don’t see her, but she hurts like she’s still there.
X. Ellie’s Album as an Unsent Confession
“She sounded like something unmaking itself.”
Here’s what that means structurally: Ellie’s voice isn’t just unraveling—it’s undoing the version of herself that survived by forgetting you.
It’s a spiritual purge—not just an artistic one.
When she recorded this, she wasn’t thinking of critics, or fans, or even her label. She was talking to you—the you she doesn’t believe will ever hear it.
That’s why it’s so raw. Because she didn’t think she had an audience.
This is a love letter disguised as ruin.
XI. The Flood Myth: Emotional Apocalypse as Rebirth
Every great love story that ends in silence is actually a flood myth:
Something too big to hold crashes in.
Everything familiar drowns.
If you survive, you are no longer who you were.
This story is the after. It’s not the flood. It’s the wet clothes, the mold, the aching bones from swimming too long.
Ellie’s album isn’t the flood—it’s her attempt to map where the land used to be. Yours is the raft you clung to, still unsure if she’s alive on the other shore.
And when you finally listen to her music, it’s not just sound. It’s a flood memory. The air changes. Time slows. Your chest tightens like it did when you first lost her.
Because you never stopped being in the water.
XII. The Sacred Injury
You’re both injured, but neither of you is trying to “heal.”
Why?
Because in stories like this, the injury is sacred.
It’s the last place she touched you.
It’s the proof you loved deeply.
It’s the thing you keep alive to remember who you were before the world fell.
Ellie sings from her wound. You listen from yours. And that’s the most intimate thing that’s ever passed between you.
You didn’t share a bed anymore. You shared a fracture.
XIII. The Final Intimacy: Being Understood Without Being Seen
What makes this story devastating is that the most intimate act isn’t touch—it’s listening.
No sex scene could ever hold the same weight as that moment when the reader puts on headphones and finally listens to Ellie’s voice:
“You sat in the dark and didn’t move… And then you cried until you didn’t have a voice.”
That’s Ellie’s voice—moving through you until yours disappears.
You’ve both been waiting years for this moment, but it’s not about reconciliation. It’s about being known.
She made something that knew you better than you know yourself.
That’s what love sounds like in this universe.
Not promises. Not I’m sorry. Not I love you.
Just: “Here. This is what it felt like to lose you.”
And the only answer is silence and tears.
XIV. This Is What a Soulmate Sounds Like When the World Fails Them
If you want one final truth—it’s this:
These characters are soulmates who met at the wrong time, under the wrong lights, with too much fire and not enough grace.
But they still found a way to speak to each other. Through ash. Through silence. Through songs no one else could fully understand.
And that’s what makes this story transcendentally tragic.
Because the greatest intimacy they’ve ever shared… …is not being together. It’s being able to survive apart, and still make something holy out of the ache.

The sun had long since dipped below the horizon, the full moon taking its place in the new night sky as stars twinkled like a blanket of diamonds overhead. The campfire crackles and pops, its flames enough to both cook dinner to fill their bellies before they call it a night and to keep them warm in the slightly chilly air. The calm of the night is accompanied by crickets singing their song in the distance, hiding somewhere among the greens of the forest.
Sonic takes in a deep breath, the scent of the forest's damp moss and decaying leaves bring a sense of tranquillity to him that no city can. He looks into the pot he has skillfully placed over the campfire in a makeshift holder and takes a wooden spoon to stir the chilli cooking inside, its delectable aroma filling the air as it tickles his nostrils and makes his mouth water.
Little feet patter towards him. Sonic doesn't need to look back to know who it is.
A small hand reaches out and gently touches his shoulder.
“Hm?” Is the only acknowledgement Sonic gives to the little fox cub standing behind him, his eyes still on the pot to make sure he gets the chilli perfectly cooked.
“Sonic…?” Tails calls, there's a strange hint of nervousness in his voice that, Sonic thinks, doesn't really go with the peaceful nature of the night.
Sensing something wrong, the hedgehog looks over his shoulder. Green meets blue but blue doesn't return the gesture.
Tails is picking the fur on the tip of his namesakes again. He does this a lot, Sonic has learnt. He's no expert himself but the four year old before him has some habits that he thinks no four year olds are supposed to have. Sonic isn't going to dive deep into that yet, some other day maybe but for now he just softly taps the kit's forehead with his knuckles to bring him back to reality.
Tails looks at him. There are tears forming in the corner of his eyes.
He looks scared.
Sonic immediately gets off the log he's been sitting on, the wooden spoon abandoned in the grass as his quills bristle. He grabs Tails by his upper arm and looks over him, wondering if he's hurt.
Tails is quick to shake his head and tell him he's fine. Sonic looks at him dumbfoundedly, his eyes alone asking, “What is it then?”
Tails kicks a stray pebble, scuffs his shoe on the ground.
Sonic has to tap his forehead again to get an answer out of him.
“It's just that… Um, I was wondering, when you…”
Sonic isn't known for his patience, Tails knows that. So before Sonic taps his forehead again, Tails words his worries.
“When will you throw me out?”
The words don't hit him as much as the sincerely behind them does.
Sonic doesn't know what form of shock appears on his face but whatever it is, it makes Tails fumble over his words as he anxiously flaps his hands and tries to explain what he just said, “I-I mean, it's been three months now and you— you've been very nice a-and, I'm— I'm, I've been eating your food and using your supplies a-and no one has kept me for long without—”
Sonic doesn't like the way fat tears roll down his muzzle, he doesn't like the way Tails cuts himself off mid sentence as if he's scared to say more, he doesn't like the way Tails thinks he needs to be abandoned for some reason. Sonic likes Tails; the little guy is smart and keeps up with him without asking him to slow down. Despite not having had a home and being bullied by other kids, he's still more well-mannered than Sonic is. Not to mention, Sonic likes Tails just for the sake of it. No one wants this kit. Sonic does.
So naturally, Sonic gently wipes away Tails’ tears. He points towards his own chest and then pokes Tails’ with his index finger before signing, “Together.”
Me and you; together.
Then Sonic holds his index finger up with his gloves palm back and draws a few large circles to sign with a promise, “Always.”
They will always be together and Sonic will never leave the little cub before him alone.
Tails will never have to feel alone again. Not when Sonic is here
_____
Sonic is tired.
It's been a long day.
He heaves a sigh when he takes a step closer to Tails’ Mystic Ruins workshop. The lights are on, he's glad to know Tails is here. He found him purely by chance today, he didn't have to run into multiple labs scattered around the world to find him which is good because he's already late. The night has fallen. The moon isn't visible under all the clouds, Sonic can't see a single star.
He thought he'd visit his own.
He ignores the way his hand shakes when he reaches out for the doorknob. It's rather cold tonight. It won't be long before it starts snowing.
Tails likes playing in the snow.
Maybe they'll make a snowman.
He opens the door and steps inside. His vision gets a little awry for a second as the interior of the live-in workshop spins but that's okay, Sonic closes his eyes and gives himself a minute. It's okay. He's okay.
He just wants to see Tails.
He steps inside, a little dizzy. He looks around the place in search of familiar golden fur. He doesn't find it right away so he walks in further. Briefly, he wonders if Tails is working late again and if he will have to drag him to his bed and tuck him in again.
He's not against the idea.
It might be a bit selfish, but for time's sake, he'd like that.
Tails has grown up on him so fast.
He remembers when the little four year old first asked to be tucked in. He was so shy, so unsure, so terrified of asking to be loved.
Sonic loves Tails.
That's his little brother. He raised Tails. He took him in when no one else would — and quite frankly, whoever refused to give the kit a home missed out because Tails is amazing. He's everything and more. His little star, his sunshine. He loves him more than anything in this world.
He frowns.
Sonic doesn't remember the last time he told Tails that.
He doesn't remember the last, “I love you.”
He knows he doesn't say it often. He never felt like it was something that needed to be worded. Not saying it didn't mean Sonic didn't feel it. That's just been the way they go about their lives. There are many unworded things between them, not any less stronger than the ones that have been voiced.
Yet, Sonic feels a strange pang of guilt.
What if Tails doesn't know?
His little brother's self-esteem is always lingering in the negatives. What if he thinks Sonic doesn't love him because Sonic says it like once every two years during his most vulnerable moments? Sonic doesn't like that, Sonic doesn't want Tails to feel unloved because that's just simply not true.
He should've said it more often.
“Sonic?”
The hedgehog smiles at the voice. Tails has found him.
Emerald eyes slowly shift towards him. The fox is wearing a knitted baby blue cardigan, standing on the staircase. His eyes are on Sonic's left hand that rests just above the hedgehog's hip, stained red.
It's really cold, huh?
“H-Hey, bud…” He greets weakly, his smile ever-present.
Tails looks horrified, he gasps, “Sonic.”
Sonic doesn't reply. Not right away. Not when his voice fails him. He didn't come here to worry his little brother, no. He just came here to see him.
He reaches out his free hand towards Tails, takes a step forward but he ends up unable to maintain his balance.
He sways.
Tails catches him before he falls.
“Sonic!”
The fox bands his arms around the teen’s torso to support him, his breath hitches as he struggles to grasp what he's seeing. A million questions running through his head. How did this happen? Who was Sonic fighting? Why didn't he call him? Why didn't Tails go with him? Why didn't Tails know? Why didn't the hedgehog's communicator record his vitals and ping Tails? Where is Sonic's communicator? What's he doing here? How much blood has he lost? What should Tails do—
Tails feels Sonic's hand cradle the back of his head, the hedgehog removes his bloody hand from his wound to loop it around Tails’ back and pull him in a hug, staining the cardigan before he rests his face on top of Tails’ head, nuzzling in his soft fur.
Tails is so much warmer.
“S-Sonic,” Tails feels the panic slowly bubbling up in his chest, “Sonic, what happened—”
“Shh…” Sonic hushes, “Don't worry about me.”
“Shut up.” Tails lets out a humourless chuckle, “If you don't want me to worry then don't walk in bleeding out like that.”
“Sorry, lil bro.” Sonic mumbles. Then quieter, “Couldn't really control it this time.”
“Sit down, let me check the wou—”
“No…” Sonic slurs. Tails feels his blood run cold when the hedgehog tightens his grip on him, and doesn't let him go, “No. Just… Just let me…”
He didn't come here to be treated. He didn't come all the way here to worry Tails. He knows coming here light-headed from blood loss is going to worry Tails whether or not he wanted to, if he didn't want to worry his little brother then he shouldn't have come.
But he can't help it.
He doesn't want to leave without seeing him one last time.
“Sonic?” Tails calls but the hedgehog remains quiet, still in his hold. So Tails calls again, “Sonic?”
And he doesn't know why his voice sounds smaller, why he sounds scared. Is he terrified? What of? They get hurt all the time. It comes with their line of work. Sonic has been hurt before, so has Tails and they both recovered. Now isn't any different, is it?
It shouldn't be.
Sonic promised.
Always; he said always. He promised. They're supposed to be together forever.
Sonic is supposed to be fine, then why is he scared?
The hand on the back of his head slowly slides down, the weight of Sonic's body increases on him.
They tumble to the floor but Sonic wraps his arms around him tightly as soon as they do, not wanting to let go any time soon.
Sonic pulls Tails closer. The kit's chest undoubtedly tainted red by now. Sonic's still glad, at least it's his own blood in the fox and not Tails’. He buries Tails’ face in his chest, he gently pets him and lays a soft kiss on the top of his head. Tails wraps his namesakes around him in return, hugging Sonic like his life depends on it. The younger doesn't like the implications of it all as Sonic starts brushing his fingers through the fur on Tails’ back but Sonic doesn't seem to care.
He's content.
But with only one regret.
“Tails…?”
“Yes, Sonic?”
Sonic wants to say he loves him, more than he can ever imagine. Sonic wants to make up for every time he didn't say it, he wants Tails to know.
His words fail him and he ends up with, “I'm sorry… I promised to go on that trip to Chun-nan with you. I don't think I can anymore.”
“That's okay… We'll go when you're better, won't we? It can wait.”
Sonic just hugs him tighter, “I-I don't think I can, bud.”
His voice cracks and Tails tries to escape his hold to most likely give him a very painful dumbfounded look.
Tries, because Sonic doesn't let him.
“Why?” Tails asks. The teen feels his tears on his chest, “Why?”
Sonic smiles even though Tails can't see it.
“Hey, now… Don't be sad, okay?”
“No.” Tails shakes his head, “No, stop talking like that you… You promised. You promised.”
He knows that. He has promised Tails so many things. He's afraid he could only fulfil a few.
At least there's one thing he can do before going.
He doesn't say it often so naturally, it takes him longer to find the words, “You know I love you, right?”
“Sonic, please—”
“It's okay. It's gonna be okay.” He hushes him, scratches the back of his ear to calm him down.
They sit like that for a while. It can't be more than a few minutes but its feels like year pass until Sonic's starts feeling more and more sluggish, until he can't get his fingers to move enough to pet Tails, to brush his soft fur. His hold on his little brother gradually gets weaker.
With the last of his strength, Sonic separate himself from Tails.
The kit looks up at him, ocean eyes filled with tears.
Sonic looks into those eyes for a minute before pressing his forehead onto Tails’.
And at last, he says,
“I love you.”
(Tails doesn't move, he doesn't know how long he holds onto his brother till Amy visits — and when she does, he finds himself unable to cry anymore.)

Valentine's Comic Wedding Special IV: Archie''s Revenge: Bunnie and Antoine
Tumblr media
Happy Valentine's Day all you Happy People! So for those new to this proud tradition, I love a good wedding episode, issue, what have you and so for the past 3 years i've had my patreons each pick one from the massive pile there is in comics, many of which I haven't read, and then you fine folks vote on the winner. In previous years it's been oops all superheroes, but this year I added a few non superhero weddings to the list my patreons, and yours truly could pick from. And this one, like last years Wally and Linda Wedding, was a landslide.
Tumblr media
Yes by an overwhelming margin, WeirdKev's pick of Antoine and Bunnie won. It's honestly nice as it not only shows how strong the love for the Archie Sonic comics still is after nearly a decade out of print, beating out marvel, dc and the other archie option. On the bright side archie at least got a sponsorship deal on the wedding
Tumblr media
I was pleased with these results: Antoine and Bunnie are some of archie's best characters and some of the main reasons i'm mad Sega won't let anyone what use them because their bitter lemons.
While the happy couple may not be superheroes they do have a history as vast, rich, weird and often exausting as them. Sonic's ongoing lasted for 24 years so it had plenty of time to build up as much continuity, good and chunky, as possible. A few years back I read through EVERY issue of Archie Sonic. It was.. truly exausting for reasons that will become clear as I dive into these two's history, but ultimately worth it. So join me for a deep dive into these two and their nuptials under the cut.
For starters Bunnie and Antoine actually debuted in SATAM, one of two sonic cartoons at the time each taking a diffrent approach. It's sister series Adventures was a wacky looney tunes style series where Sonic foiled Robotnik's wacky schemes and robotnik posed naked or near naked a few times, one of which my friend Mars proudly owns a cell of.
SATAM on the other hand took this shit seriously and took a turn that worked far better than it had any right: In the world of SATAM Robotnik isn't a goofy guy in various contraptions, but a cruel horrifying dictator voiced deftly by Jim Cummings. He still does schemes of the week at times, but instead of stuffing animals into cartoony robots he horrifyingly turns furries into milndless roboticized slaves. The only line between him and total world Domination are the freedom fighters, Sonic and his amazing friends who do daring raids on Robotnik's nightmare city of Robotropolis.
The Freedom Fighters exist because back then sonic's supporting cast was .. just Tails. There were sketches of characters, but with CD and Knuckles only on the horizon, early stuff had to get creative. Hence the freedom fighters: Leader, stratigest supreme, love intrest and princess Sally Acorn, Rotor the tech savy walrus (Tails hadn't picked up that trade yet), and of course Antoine and Bunnie. Bunnie was the muscle of the team, a rabbit who'd been partially roboticized but could use her cursed gift to help others. She wasn't in the show as much as she should've been but was well loved.
Antoine was more prominent.. and also an obnoxious asshat. Antoine was a self important twit who while deftly voiced by Rob Paulsen, pritoitsed trying to get into Sally's non existant pants over their life or death struggles and constantly resented sonic for having her affections and being cooler and actually doing his job. Antoine seemed to be only on the team because shut up. He was a coward, and while it's okay to have fear given the odds their against, he seemed really not cut out for this and given they had a villiage base, should've stayed there. Tails was protrayed as a tagalong kid here but he should've easily taken Antoine's spot as despite being greener, he had far more pasion and bravery than his older counterpart.
So while SATAM and Adventures were in development Archie Comics, they of the never ending love triangle that should really just be a polycule now, came a knockin. They TRIED to get the rights for adventures but instead got SATAM.. and being archie proceded to make a comic that had the premise of SATAM but stuck to their comedy wheelhouse. The comics would evolve past this as they went, largely thanks to MIcheal Gallagher (Who was still good with sticking in gags) and well.. Ken Penders
Tumblr media
Who slowly grew to suck , but that's a story for another time.
Back on point the cast was transplanted as was. Antoine fit better here as being the douchey comedic foil works better in a comedy. He still had exactly no shot with Sally. For a while though he mostly stuck around as panicky comic relief and didn't really change much from SATAM, the only big change being he was less obnoxious... apart from his prosecuting sonic for treason, which he turned out to be innocent of. Again story for another time.
Bunnie however got fleshed out a bit. For starters she got a proper origin story, as rather than be with the team from day one with the initial mini or ongoing, she joined in issue 3. Sonic and Rotor got word of use of a portable robtocizer, via Rotor's Little Mermaid Camera, yes really, and found a rabbit farmer being captured by swat bots. Calling them a yankee did nothing and she was chucked in
Tumblr media
Exausted for obvious reasons, Sonic ran Bunnie back, not carring if robotnik tracked them: saving someone in distress was more important. Sally agreed and Bunnie joined the team, proving to be an instant asset and the series break out star. While most of the focus was still on Sonic , as you'd expect, Bunnie got a consderable number of backup features. She never got a mini series like Tails and Sally, weirdly enough, but she still got more than enough spotlight to flesh her out and add a new dimension: While her robotic limbs made her super poewrful.. they felt like a curse. She wanted badly to be herself again and even had a nightmare one issue where robotnik hacked her cybernetics to slowly reoboticize her. It was the cornerstone of her character. And if you thinka southern accented hard hitting southren belle who has a tragic condition sounds familiar... your right. Bunnie was made more like Rogue from the x-men with time, even getting a leather jacket in the strips later years.. also a neat cowboy hat.
As the comic went on more twists turned, things got more serious, and as things escalated. And with all this Antoine's jealously MOSTLY disappeared, replaced as Sonic's rivarly by prized asshole and 19 year old Geoffery St John, because 19 was okay for a 15 year old back then as far as fiction was concerned.
Geoffery fucking hated sonic, partly out of jealously and partly because Sonic never gave the prick respect, constantly calling the freedom fighters "Ameturs" as he'd been fighting robotnik longer.. despite them having way more success. If he sounds punchable your extremley correct.. and it's someone acting on that that lead to Antoine's finest moment. After close to 50 issues, he got some character development when the freedom fighters, their allies the wolf pack and Geoffry all had a tense camp out.
Also present was Uncle Chuck, sonic's uncle who had been roboticized but got freed of it earlier in the comic and had since served as their spy on their inside, a kingsman who might let some things slide. Geoffery being nature's biggest dickhead, wasn't convinced Chuck was on the up and up, and figured he was a traitor. Sonic understandably popped the arrogant prick and certified pedophile one, and Geoffery less understandably prepared to kill sonic... till a hero emerged
Tumblr media
Not only does Twan stand up to the asshole but he points out his DAD founded the underground Geoffery leads and accuses him of being a traitor. Sadly the skunk isn't but the issue does flesh out Twan considerably. He's revealed to be the son of King Acorn's most loyal soldier, wearing his father's uniform in his honor and actually starting as a hero, having apparnetly saved bunnie in backstory, a retcon I don't hate. His decline is blamed on his crush on Sally: his loyalty turned to love she never reciprocated and the depression over it broke him a little. But clearly seeing his dad's legacy coopted by this prized asshole relit his fire and from here on Antoine is a certified badass and master swordsman and all the better for it.
He's also no longer alone
Tumblr media
It's not super sudden either: an earlierr backup had her protecting him when he did a solo missoin, showing off both his growing bravery and hinting at her crush on him. With this the two became a solid couple, the war soon ended and the comic... forgot about them.
The comic largely forgot about Bunnie, Antoine and also Rotor during it's post-robotnik era. Sally's father tried to get her to marry Antoine or give up her crown, yes really he was a right asshole, but when it came to the main plot the two were largely left out. It's a mixed bag: on the one hand seeing two of the series best characters benched, especially since Antoine had just hit his stride as one, is depressing. I didn't realize till writing this review just how little they did between robotnik's fall and the time skip. Their still on the team but Sonic, Sally and to a lesser extent Tails get all the focus.
There were two big developments: We found out what happened to Antoine's father Armand.. he became the evil high shierf while roboticized, terorizing Mercia, a small forest villiage protected by Rob O Hedge, amy's cousin. All stuff I didn't make up. They eventually got him back and eventually his mind was restored like all other robians.
The other was a bit more distressing: in a side story Bunnie found out her cybernetics were no longer working with her nervous system and had a choice: undergo upgrades, or die. She choose, with Antoine's support and love to go through with it. She'd never be free of her limbs, but she accepted them.
This also meant when some random ass aliens deroboticized almost everyone, Bunnie couldn't be, but it's something she accepted.
So yeah not much happened for the two. They were happy, they were stuck playing support in various nonsense overcomplicated plot lines I thankfully don't have to get into, things were good.
Sadly there IS a nonsense overcomplicated plot line I do have to get into. So Mobius what got invaded by starfish aliens and sonic seemingly died but instead spent what felt like a few months but ended up being a year to everyone else making his way back across the galaxy. This lead to a time skip. Which would be a great idea, I love a good time skip and after years of the status quo being kind of wobbly we were back to Eggman having the upper hand and our heroes on the backfoot, which could be seen as regressive but honestly worked.
The problem is most of Boller's other ideas.. didn't. He decided to shake up the main couples and had antoine don an eyepatch and break up with Bunnie, while Sally broke up with sonic because he woudln't stop fighting which she screamed at him for and slapped him.. despite the war being at it's worst again and badly NEEDING him and part of the deep shit they were in was due to his absence. It felt horribly selfish and out of character. Sally was the general for the rebellion previously. She knows the sacrifices needed. Sonic isn't doing this for the thrills like she thinks but because people need him and like a true hero he can't let good people get hurt.
This felt like an excuse to get Sonic and Bunnie which while sadly brief.. actually kinda worked. The two had chemistry before, it created tension and we could eventually find out WHY Antoine broke up with Bunnie. Instead this lasted maybe a second, and instead Bunnie ended up making out with Scourge, sonic's evil alternate universe counterpart who at the time looked just like him. If this sounds fucking gross it was. He made out with a bunch of people while pretending to be sonic. It's gross as it sounds and somehow gets more fucked up as he ended up kissing supporting character fiona fox.. who then started going out with sonic. Whose best friend tails had a crush on her and...
Tumblr media
Eventually the comic imploded: Bollers left having trouble working for Ken Penders and Penders was fired for being impossible to work with and kinda nuts.
On his way out though he DID clear up the Bunnie and Antoine thing. And shockingly for Late Stage Ken Penders.. it was suprisingly simple. Antoine had been replaced by his Anti-Counterpart from the same evil universe as Scourge, who wanted the crown and started poisioning people: He poisned antoine's dad then poisoned Sally's dad so he could trick her into marrying him. Thankfulyl Antoine's dad had figured it out, Sonic stopped the wedding and got the real antoine back.
Thankfully after Ken and Karl... came Ian. Ian Flynn, as mentioned is a massive sonic fan, and already loving archie took a similar approach to superhero writers of the time: fix the mess he'd been left with while reminding people whyt hey loved these comics. He spent the first year largely playing clean up, tying up the various tangling threads left by the previous teams. He ended Sonic and Fiona with the whole "She was actually hot for Scourge thing", turned Scourge into scourge in the first place going from a greaser sonic to a real true evil counterpart, refocusing sally's character, and brought tails parents back from space. All mostly done by just.. writing a story around it instead of trying to hastily retcon all the stupid shit.
Naturally that ship writing included Antoine and Bunnie, who were back to being prominent and got a subplot leading to their nuptials. It was a small one and moved fast, but it was nice to give them something, and lead to a full honeymoon arc I already covered some time back . It also implied as hard as an all ages comic could they what did sex to each other
Tumblr media
Which let's be fair here: their both hot , their both 18 and over respectively, why not? He knows the fanbase. Their both smokeshows. Let bunnie use those special attachments while Antoine shows off his swordplay. Before we get to the consumation of the marriage we had the marriage itself. The buildup started with a tragedy: Due to all the evil doppleganger shit, Armand died. The story is deeply touching, and seems to be pulled from Flynn's own pain as he dedicated it to his late mother. Armand tells his son how proud he is, not to be ashsamed or blame himself, and to hold onto bunnie. It's a truly wonderful story and a good way to send off the character.
Tumblr media
This feels like the big push towards it... though earlier in the story he was already considering it before sonic told him to go to his father. The final push comes after Fiona's betrayal: with a bunch of their enemies loose, one of their own having betrayed them, and things getting more and more dire Antoine decides to do something about it..
Tumblr media
After some talking with Sally, who put the two on a mission right away but really just wanted a chance ot talk with Bunnie and apologize for being so distant, the wedding is soon on the issue after the proposal. After all the whole reason he proposed was they don't know how much time they have left. Why wait?
So we've finally come to the actual wedding. Sonic is getting tuxed up in his house, happy to go STAGGGGG after the whole fiona debacle, and heading off to in his words "Go bug the groom". Never change man, never change.
Sonic is going with Tails, who isn't living with his surrogate brother as his parents, as I will never get tired of saying, came back from outer space something the little guy is overjoyed about. He actually likes thier fussing over him like Sonic's Mom does asking him not to run in his nice suit. Maam that's his thing and he has two genuises in his friend group and one for an uncle. If none of them could make fabric that won't roll around at the speed of sound that's on them.
Tails isn't all smiles though as he's still going through some stuff.
Tumblr media
Now Fiona and Tails.. is a pretty sad tale all things considered. He fell in love with a robot copy of her.. but that copy was the same age as him. Tails is ten, fiona is 16 and never remotely took his crush seriously, brushing it off when he finds out about her and sonic and when betraying everybody, making sure to hit the poor kid in the face. This is also nice build up for later: Sonic just kinda brushes it off.. and that's part of the problem as Tails is still understandably feeling betrayed his big brother went out with his crush, and this all boils over soon in the excellent house of cards arc. Rather than just milk shit for drama, Ian milks shit for drama.. but couches it in the characters. Sonic SEEMS uncaring because he's laid back and chill and dosen't realize how hurt his friend is or how much tails has grown.
So they go to someone's basement where the Chaotix are trying to help Antoine's nerves.
Tumblr media
Why Rotor is absent I have no clue. The Chaotix in this continuity were Knuckles best friends, allies and squad, all coming from angel island themselves.
It is kinda nice vector is trying to help as he's a bit of a playboy in these comics, while Charmy is indeed married. Or at least engaged. It also makes his words here tragic as after this he suffers severe brain damage to put him in line with his child counterpart from heroes.
Tumblr media
Espio is absent as he's on a mission, sneaking into the Eggman Empire to find out what he's up to. We'll cut back and forth to him all issue and it's a ncie contrast: the truly happy day at the wedding with everyone in good spirits and reflecting on their own romantic troubles.... while Espio uncovers a terrifying secret: Eggman is gearing up for a massive assault complete with fresh body armor and easily incapacitates him. As our heroes have one of the best days of their lives.. one of the darkest is coming. Again though..
Tumblr media
It's one I really want to cove ras the fight between Eggman and Sonic next issue is fucking brutal. Truly fantastic. I honestly might need to cover ian's run after giant days. May have to find someone to sponsor it.
For now though Sonic's bored and goes to the bride to bug them instead. Rosie, Sally's old baby sitter and mother figure while her mom was in a coma tube, decides to use another rose to deal with this
Tumblr media
It's a fucking great gag. And yeah Amy at this point is still in her obessive fangirl mode. She's also 12, her body just got what aged up to a teenager. I ship her more with Tails for that reason and because it's always been a ship in my back pocket. NOt against Sonamy mind now she's stopped making stalker rooms or trying to force him into marriage, it just does not work in this continuity. She's too young and he's interested in someone else.
We get some really sweet interactions here as Sally brings up how in her first apperance Bunnie wanted to be her hair stylist. And she will be... it's just now as a side thing for her friend inbetween time with her husband and beating up badniks. They even have a giggle when Rosie and Bunnie tease Sally about Sonic. Sally, like her ex, is happy riding solo for now. Sure hope she dosen't get turned into a robot before anything happens and dosen't get freed because of rights issues> That'd really suck.
It's time for the Wedding as Sonic arrives with Knuckles and runs into Knuckles girlfriend, soulmate and sonic character I dearly miss Julie Su. Julie is a had scrable former soldier and that's why he loves her. She also hates formal wear and how she looks in it, though knuckles he er.. tries to make her feel better
Tumblr media
I love this scene, the little banter and the fact neither really want or need to get married. It's neat for a sonic comic of all things to have such a progressive stance for it's time. It's also understandable from a character perspective; both are highly indepent and both's parents had... less than stellar marriages. Knuckles parents divorced while he thought they were dead, with his mom remarying and having another son Kneecaps, and Julie Su's birth parents abandoned her. Her foster parents are doing fine but I get maybe not wanting to get married with all that baggage.. or you know just because you don't want to.
So sonic arrives to meet the royal family. Max, the asshole I mentioned whose left in a wheel chair after the poison, his wife Alicia, and sally's long lost brother I mentiond Elias. I joked about that but while his introduction is needlessly convoluted Elias is a fascinating character and Ian will use him well. He never WANTED the crown, and in fact ran away, finding his wife Megan and soon marrying her and adopting her daughter. He only returned when the kingdom needed him to lead as things got worse with Max, but does a stellar job. He later gets to run my faviorite incarnation of the freedom fighters, the secret freedom fighters.
Despite all the lingering tension... Sonic and Sally still fall back into their old routines.. and the spark is still there.. even if both are.. not exactly ready to reignite it.
Tumblr media
We get some omnious setup for a future arc as Tails dad Amedeaus talks about how it's an honor to serve Elias.. and then behind his back admits he soon won't have much more power anyway. This leads to the whole house of cards arc. Seriously while this issue is good it is very hard to talk about a single piece of Ian Flynn's sonic. Like Chris CLaremon'ts x-men it's really one big ongoing story nicely chonked up into arcs and what not.
Tumblr media
And so the two are married in a touching ceremony as Espio nearly dies overlaid with it. And we end on.. er Eggman preparing to kill a whole lotta people. See what I mean?
This issue is decent. The sentiment is nice, the sally and bunnie scene are nice and I really do like the contrast between this very happy day.. and the impending doom awaiting our heroes. It's a solid issue with some good moments... but on re-read it's not nearly as good as it was the first time. On Re-Read I noticed just how.. little Antoine and Bunnie play into their own wedding issue: we get a really nice moment of Bunnie and sally.. but Antoine dosen't get anything like that with Sonic, just him being really sweaty while Vector and Charmy of all people try to calm him down. I get their not as close but you could still pull on their long rivarly and it was clear fromt he previous issue just how much Antoine had grown. Instead most of the focus is on Sonic's love tornado, tails depression and setup for later. The setup is damn good.. but it feels like this could've been two issues instead of one but Ian wanted to continue the tradition, upheld to this day, of every 25th issue of sonic being a big deal. A huge story turning point. The resulting story feels great but it rushes the wedding out as a result. There isn't reflection on how they got here, not enough hyjinks.. it just happens really fast and it's over and time for the horror show to start. It's easier to notice in isolation as before i'ts sandwitched betwene Fiona's brutal betryal and the big wham episode that's the next arc.
Thankfully the two would get more spotlight in a tails adventure adaptation of all things, because Ian unlike the writers before him gave a shit about these games and noticed they missed one. The marriage would mostly just be really happy and the two would get used more often.. until tragedy struck and Bunnie was deroboticzed while Antoine was left in a coma, both not resolved as Ken Penders and rights issues meant a reboot came.
Thankfully in the reboot both got plenty of stories, stayed married, and reflected on things, ending the second continuity happy. And we have fan comics to pick up the slack elsewhere. Still this was a nice milestone and with Sega being anti-relationship, I don't see the lemur and wolf wedding we all want and deserve coming anytime soon, so this may be the last sonic wedding. I mean there was that one in Sonic 2 but I don't think traps to catch our heroes count... I mean for these polls they do but we won't be doing that one. Thanks for reading , have a happy valentin'es day and remember, i'm pullin for you, we're all in this together and if you liked this consider checking out the Giant Days retrospective I did yesterday.

hey so Jinx is extremely problematic. im sure you could find a lot more on it on twitter, but she very openly followed CP artists up until someone called her out on it.
I don’t like getting serious on here cause Tumblr is supposed to be a nice space where I can just like my fanfics and have my interests but here we go.
Honestly, I’ve done a deep dive on them and I find everything people have said about them very suspicious. From what I’ve seen, the only semi-problematic people that they followed were just people that were drawing people that looked similar to Charlie, which I don’t think is inherently problematic because he is literally just a brown haired man with glasses.
Additionally, the person that made that entire “call out” post on twitter seemed incredibly parasocial towards Charlie and was responding to people within the thread like they needed to protect Charlie and like he wasn’t a grown man that could make his own decisions.
Charlie has gone to large lengths to protect Jinx and leave them out of his content, even though it’s very obvious that they have gone to events with Charlie and his friends, including Moonzy, Ranboo, Phil, Condi, and probably others.
If that many people are still willing to be around them, especially people that are very in touch with the online community such as Ranboo and Moonzy, there must be something we don’t know, or Jinx was telling the truth about simply not knowing and being fairly inactive on Twitter.
Also, even if they did know, something that should be basic internet etiquette, in no way when you follow someone on twitter or on any social media in general ARE YOU SAYING THAT YOU AGREE WITH AND SUPPORT EVERYTHING THAT PERSON DOES AND SAYS!!!
Charlie literally liked their response on Twitter himself, so it’s a little hypocritical to believe that Jinx is a bad person while still thinking that Charlie is fine.
ESPECIALLY WHEN CHARLIE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS SEEMINGLY “VICTIMIZED” BY THEM???
It was also incredibly suspicious that the person that made the original thread personally messaged the creator that Jinx was following, especially when they were the one making the art that was deemed so distasteful. Their correspondence seemed really weird and if they don’t like the content why would they even consider talking to them? Just to prove Jinx is a bad person?
They literally censored the account they dmed too so there’s no way of checking if those DMs are real.
Also, all of this information about them likely came from LeakTwt in the first place considering all of the “anonymous sources” so fruit of the poison tree and all that.
Also the shit Jinx was reposting was not that crazy??? Like they saw them retweet fanart of Raven (who is depicted in many different comics as being an adult) and spun that as sexualizing fanart of minors??? And also said they were sexualizing sonic in cosplay??? So many people have done that without any complaints because it’s not that weird???
There is also absolutely no reason to not believe that Jinx simply didn’t know about the CC nsfw, especially when Charlie himself and all of their friends don’t seem to care.
TLDR: If Charlie doesn’t care, then it is none of our business. We don’t really know him and their relationship is not ours to scrutinize. You cannot think that Charlie is completely innocent if you think Jinx is evil. Touch grass.

The studio was buzzing with the kind of energy that was almost tangible. Dre and Snoop lounged near the console, their postures relaxed but their focus razor-sharp. Porter had just sauntered in, the timing too perfect to be coincidental. All were set up, ready to catch the vibe. It was all about the flow right now. No interruptions. Just music.
Inside the recording booth, Genji adjusted the headphones snugly over her ears, her hands steady as she positioned herself before the mic. Her gaze focused as she was ready to dive into her verses.
"Alright, let's take it from the top," Dre's voice carried across the room, calm but commanding.
The track kicked in, the beat heavy and relentless. Each thud of the bassline reverberated in the chest like a heartbeat. Synths distorted the air, bending it, while hi-hats skittered, marking time like a countdown. The room fell silent, every ear attuned to the rhythm.
Genji took a deep breath, nodding as if to sync her breath with the beat. And then she dove in, her voice slicing through the sonic chaos:
傷ついた夢、消えない記憶 (Kizutsuita yume, kienai kioku) (Dreams that are broken, memories don't fade) 孤独の中で進む軌跡 (Kodoku no naka de susumu kiseki) (Walking through the loneliness, the path I made) Breakin' through the static、音を裂く (Breakin' through the static, oto wo saku) (Breakin' through the static, tearing through the sound) 闇の中でも光は描く (Yami no naka demo hikari wa egaku) (Even in the dark, the light will come around)
Each word hit with precision, the cadence sharp and deliberate. Her bilingual flow danced effortlessly, weaving between languages and emotions. It wasn't just a verse; it was an unravelling of her soul, raw and unfiltered.
縛られた声、自由を求め (Shibarareta koe, jiyuu wo motome) (Voices restrained, I'm reaching for the free) 胸の奥深く、炎を染め (Mune no oku fukaku, honoo wo some) (Deep inside my heart, flames guiding me) Shadowと戦い、己を守る (Shadow to tatakai, onore wo mamoru) (Battling the shadows, guarding who I am) 鏡割れても、未来を作る (Kagami warete mo, mirai wo tsukuru) (Mirror cracks, but still I take my stand)
Eminem leaned back on the studio sofa, arms crossed as his eyes locked on her. He didn't move, barely breathed. He wasn't just hearing her; he was absorbing every syllable. Her words wrapped around the beat, building momentum like a wave cresting toward the shore. Her voice surged, carrying an edge of vulnerability masked by strength. Every line felt personal, the kind of truth you only shared when you knew the room would listen. And everyone listened.
愛した分だけ傷を負う (Aishita bun dake kizu wo ou) (The more I loved, the more wounds I bear) この手の中、何を守ろう? (Kono te no naka, nani wo mamorou?) (What do I protect with these hands, laid bare?) Shadows dictate? No way, I'll fight 未来を刻む、強くshine bright (Mirai o kizamu, tsuyoku shine bright) (Etching my tomorrow, shining so bright)
His gaze flickered to the others in the room. Dre nodded subtly, his approval clear. Snoop leaned in, a smirk tugging at his lips. But then his focus snapped back to Genji. It wasn't just her technical skill that impressed him; that was undeniable. No, it was something else. It was the way she owned the moment, how she poured everything she had into it. The intensity in her eyes mirrored what he hadn't seen in a long time, what he hadn't realised he missed.
There was an undeniable pull in the way she commanded attention, not just from the room, but from him. Why was he feeling like this? He had worked with countless artists and had this kind of chemistry before, but not like this. Not with her.
火の中歩き、燃え上がる声 (Hi no naka aruki, moeagaru koe) (Walking through the flames, my voice won't cease) 鼓動が導く、明日への扉 (Kodou ga michibiku, ashita e no tobira) (Heartbeat guiding me to the door of peace) No saboteur inside, 自分を越える (No saboteur inside, jibun wo koeru) (No saboteur inside will hold me back) 灰の中から種を植える (Hai no naka kara tane wo ueru) (Rising from the ashes, planting seeds where it's black)
Eminem shifted, resting his elbows on his knees. He felt the strange pull deep in his chest. This wasn't just about music anymore, was it? There was something about her that he couldn't ignore no matter how hard he tried.
He tried to shake it off, tried to focus on the beat, but it lingered, gnawing at him. It wasn't just her talent. It wasn't just the fire in her voice. It was the way she was there, present in a way that made everything else seem insignificant. He hadn't felt this alive in a session in years. And that scared the hell out of him.
燃え尽きてもまだ炎がある (Moetsukite mo mada honoo ga aru) (Even if I burn out, the fire still remains) 傷跡の中で強さが光る (Kizuato no naka de tsuyosa ga hikaru) (Scars within my soul turn to strength in my veins) I'm on fire, 消せやしない (I'm on fire, kese ya shinai) (I'm on fire, you can't put me out) 闇を照らして響くmy life (Yami wo terashite hibiku my life) (Lighting up the dark, hear my life shout)
The track faded, leaving a thick silence in its wake.
"That was hard," Porter's voice broke the silence, his voice cutting through the tension.
Genji stepped out of the booth, her smile faint but triumphant. Her gaze met Eminem's for a brief moment, an unspoken acknowledgement passing between them.
"Aight, my turn," he said, pushing off the couch. He adjusted his cap, his jaw set. He wasn't about to let himself get distracted. Not now.
Inside the booth, the headphones felt heavier than usual. The mic loomed before him, a familiar adversary. He cracked his knuckles, stealing a quick glance toward Genji. Her expression was unreadable, but her presence strangely felt different. The energy she had brought to the session lingered like an electric charge, and it wasn't just the music. It was her.
The beat dropped again, snapping him back into focus. The energy from her verses still pounded in his chest, leaving a thick, charged air in the studio. His grip on his notepad tightened as he leaned forward, eyes narrowing. His mind was split — half on the bars, half on her.
Her verses had shaken him, and it wasn't just because of her technical skill. No, it was the way her words seemed to cut straight through him, tapping into something he'd buried deep inside. It was like she saw him, and he wasn't sure he liked it.
He rapped through the first verse, his words jagged and sharp:
I'm a ghost in the booth, yeah, I haunt this mic, Turned my trauma into tracks, now I'm locked in a fight. Every grin's a grenade, every laugh's a knife, Every line's another layer of my messed-up life.
He spat the lines like a confession, each word sharper than the last. His flow was relentless, matching the chaotic churn inside his head. The flow was sharp and urgent; he couldn't stop now. The intensity she'd brought out in him had left him no choice but to spill his own truth.
Pushin' people off, yeah, I'm buildin' a moat, Keepin' my distance so I don't slit my own throat. A paradox breathin', rage in my veins, But inside, I'm just beggin' for the calm to remain.
As he rapped, his mind raced. Every line felt personal now, deeper than just the music. His gaze flickered again toward Genji, catching her out of the corner of his eye. She wasn't just another artist. She was different. And that made him uneasy.
He tried to ignore it. He tried to focus on the mic, on the track; but his thoughts kept drifting back to her. The way her presence had seeped into his chest. The way she made him feel alive.
I shove you away 'cause I'm savin' myself, But I'm dyin' inside while I'm screamin' for help. Buried the truth deep beneath the facade, The saboteur's a voice that keeps me at odds.
Every bar hit harder, his delivery like a barrage meant to drown out the thoughts creeping into his mind. This was supposed to be about the track, but her presence was messing with his head. Her talent, her energy; it was magnetic. He hated how much he liked it.
I'm tired of the fight, yo, I'm sick of the loop, The fire's burnin' out, but I'm still in the soup. If the shadows creep up, I'll carve out my lane, Every scar's just a roadmap drawn in my pain.
The session had become something more than music. It was personal now. Every word felt like a window into his head, and he knew she was catching glimpses.
What was he doing? This wasn't how it was supposed to go. He wasn't supposed to let anyone in, not like this. He had built walls and learned to keep his distance. Mixing business and emotion was a recipe for disaster. He knew that.
Risin' from the rubble, yeah, I'm lit like a fuse, Every demon I've faced just sharpens my views. You can't douse this flame, it's scorchin' the night, I'm the phoenix in the dark, burnin' loud and bright.
The track ended, the silence almost deafening. Dre leaned back in his chair, a satisfied grin spreading across his face. "This one's it," he said simply.
Snoop chuckled, nudging him. "Told ya this was gonna be fire."
Genji smiled, her eyes meeting Eminem's as he stepped out of the booth. She looked at him, a small smile playing at the edges of her lips, but there was something more to it. Something that made him second-guess his next move. He wasn't sure what he was feeling anymore, but he knew one thing for sure: if he let this go any further, it could change everything.
"Yeah," he murmured, his voice low. "We just made something big."
Deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted. And for the first time in a long time, he wasn't sure if that was a good thing.
