You did something for me I couldn’t do for myself. You loved me for who I am.

I think that bill for the Fair Banking Act is misleading - it's a Republican bill, co-sponsored exclusively by Republicans, and the text seems like it's responding to an Obama-era program about targeting payday lenders and gun sellers, so I think the goal is to force banks to give money to people like that, oil companies, etc. It might help NSFW creators too, but it seems unlikely that's how it will be used!
operation choke point was, as far as i can tell, genuinely horseshit. i honestly haven't seen anything meaningful against this bill other than the fact that it's a republican bill. it doesn't even make anything illegal, just opens up banks to civil suits and authorizes withholding funding if someone proves they lacked probable cause and a paper trail. they can still cut people off, they just need actual evidence of crimes instead of blacklisting categories of expense.
the whole point is that if it's legal it's none of visa's business. i even found a critical article from the cato institute of all fucking places, mad because this bill targets Private Businesses instead of Burdensome Regulations. which is exactly what i like about it. the fact that payment processors are also targeting things i dislike doesn't make it any less fucked that they can do that. if i see any actual substantial criticism i'll reassess, but if someone wants to spend their money on a gun i don't see how that's any of visa's goddamn business any more than my porn is. if we want to regulate gun purchases and payday lenders we should actually do that instead of letting banks decide whether they have to do all their transactions in cash like that's better for enforcement of literally anything.

Nobody looks like what they really are on the inside. You don’t. I don’t. People are much more complicated than that. It’s true of everybody.
