Let’s Party!

“…Don’t weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the LORD your God…” Neh 8:9NLT

Time to party! Today is sacred before the Lord your God. Why sacred? Because your sins are forgiven and Papa God can finally be close to you. He’s so excited— happy! No time for crying. Rather, it’s time to dance, sing, jump for joy, turn that frown upside down and smile.

“How happy and fulfilled are those whose rebellion has been forgiven, those whose sins are covered by blood. How blessed and relieved are those who have confessed their corruption to God! For He wipes their slates clean” Psm 32:1-2TPT. All my life, altar call time, I’d weep not rejoice. Somber thinking my sins and others are forgiven. All along needing to rejoice.

Before salvation, I felt as David described. “…When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer” Psm 32:3-4ESV. Guilt— a gift from satan. Shame— guilt’s kissing cousin. Miserable— unhappy feeling which accompanies guilt and shame. When those emotions are in control, people feel too unworthy to come to God. After all, why would God want anything to do with us?

Unworthiness is a lie. As conviction draws our hearts towards God, satan pours on the lies to prevent us from finding— “…God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom 5:8ESV.

Whenever we repent of our sins, we’ll have the same result as David. “…I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” Psm 32:5ESV

Nehemiah 8— Ezra, the priest, and the Levites read the books of the Law to the Israelites, who’d just returned from Babylon. After seventy years in captivity, they’re free to worship God, without knowing how to worship. When they saw their sinfulness, they grieved. BUT God wasn’t grieved. He was happy! Read Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Take note at how every time sins were atoned for— it was time for— a party. “…Nehemiah, …Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” …“Go your way. Eat the fat …drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. …do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength." Neh 8:9-10NLT

God just can’t help Himself. When we celebrate Him, He just starts pouring on the benefits. Psm 32:7-8ESV: “For You are my Hiding Place; You Protect Me from trouble. You Surround Me with songs of victory. The Lord says, "I will Guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will Advise you and Watch Over you.” Emphasis mine.

People are constantly seeking, what God willing gives in return for repentance. This is like trading a dollar for a million dollars— no brainer! “Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” Psm 32:11ESV. God loves joy, not continued weeping and sorrow for confessed sin. He’s thrown those sins into the sea of forgetfulness, Micah 7:18-19. Don’t dredge them up.

Each time we celebrate our Savior’s forgiveness, God celebrates us, too. He hears and writes down our good words about Him, (Mal 3:16-18). Had satan never brought sin to man, God would’ve continually been partying with His people. Will you join Him? It’s your choice. You choose.

PRAYER: Praise You Papa God! You love us so much and are SO GOOD to us! I pray that all who reads this will let go of their guilt immediately, in Jesus’ name I pray.

32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood.

I remember this place called Beans n Burgers (i think) where they have all you can eat beans and chilli and ice cream. It was old timey and had smiley face fries with their kids meals. It was great. I’m p sure it’s still there, but like at a new location.

Book Of Memoirs

“Then those who feared the LORD spoke with each other, and the LORD listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and loved to think about him.” Mal 3:14NLT

Did you ever keep a diary? Have you journaled? Basically the same thing, keeping a diary and journaling are the process of keeping a written record of daily events and with journaling— feelings, prayers, hopes dreams and aspirations.

When the doctor said I needed to journal my feelings, I was like— what for? But as I’ve matured, I’ve seen the purpose in journaling. Many times I’ve reread of the minor miracles, (God-incidents), God has performed for me. Times I would’ve forgotten otherwise. There are places to go back to and say, ‘see God You promised me right here,’ or ‘God You did this I know You can do it for me again.’ Sure there are pages, where I’ve had cried and ranted with grief and heartache.

To think about God keeping a ‘journal or diary’ is daunting. He has a book called the “Lamb’s Book of Life” Rev 21:27, holding the name’s of God’s elect, everyone who’s put their sole trust in Jesus. A second book, called the “book of life,” Dan 7:10, will be used to judge everyone according to what each one had done in their life. Psalm 139:16 tells the God planned good for our life and wrote it in a book about us. There is also a book of lineage of the Israelite people, Ex 32:32, Psm 69:28, Isa 4:3.

Malachi opens our eyes to another book, a book of memoirs. Written down in this book are things which warmed the heart of God. When I went to visit my elderly cousin, we talked about the wonders of the Lord. Time after time God had moved doing this or that for her. She was bragging on the Father, (Rev 12:11), who loved her beyond imagination. During our conversation, she talked about how it would be for her son, when he yielded to Christ.

The next visit, her son had become a believer. In my spirit I heard, Mal 3:15-16NLT: “"They will be my people," says the LORD Almighty. "On the day when I act, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient and dutiful child. Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” Perks come with God’s book of memoirs, blessings.

What do you talk about with your family? Church family? Friends? Do you discuss the evening news? Other people? Events? Disappointments? Sorrows? Griefs? Miracles? Blessings? Joys? Wouldn’t it be nice to be included in God’s book of memoirs just once? It’s your choice. You choose.

PRAYER: Papa God I pray You will be blessed by our conversations. Help us to brag about how wonderful You are, in Jesus’s name I pray.
