Nothing in life was fair. It never went according to plan. Things had been so good, until all of a sudden they had gone bad again. Bad, with Silco not around to pick up the pieces anymore. He was gone.

❝ You’re perfect... ❞

She had been crying as she went back to Silco’s office. Hoping he was still there. It must have been a trick of the mind, a mistake, a hallucination. She wouldn’t kill him, not Jinx. He was her family, the reason she had survived even the deepest descent into madness. She loved him.

Jinx watched as alcohol streamed over the floor. Her eyes were red, voice hoarse as she’d spoken to Sevika. Wishing it was her who was dead. Wishing she could have just aimed the gun at someone else, anyone, just not him.

❝ I wasn’t trying to kill him. ❞ The annoyance in her voice offset just how fragile she felt. Sevika’s words cut into her like a knife, further gouging out the hole Silco had left. She listened anyway, staring up at her with a steady gaze. A breakdown was exactly what Sevika wanted, or at least it felt that way. Jinx could do that in the comfort of her own room.

Still... She had a limit, just like everyone else. That was exactly why the gun was pulled out again. The same one that had killed Silco. ❝ I’d rather kill you. Wouldn’t that make you happy? You could join him, then. ❞ Jinx laughed. ❝ Oh, wait! I doubt it! Bet he wouldn’t even want to see you! Bet he’s glad he doesn’t have to anymore! ❞ Her chin raised, a malevolent gleam in her eyes.
