Will probably chuck something like this into a bigger speculative meta at one point about Xadia's in-universe history, but from a "why would the story Choose to do it like this, as opposed from any other lens?" I want to reexamine the Mage Wars conflict. Specifically, in this case, that the Mage Wars were the result of (predominantly dark) mages being leaders/kings.
On the one hand, at first glance, it makes a lot of sense. We routinely see most of the series' mages turn to magic, dark or otherwise, as a result of desperation and/or ambition, or both in an attempt to consolidate power.
Tumblr media
KPP'AR: You made the same choice you've always made. The one that gives you power. (5x02)
Tumblr media
VIREN: I am the High Mage of Katolis. I have power, purpose, and I intend to use them both. (6x06)
Even Claudia, despite being more driven by her personal loyalties to her family over political ambition like her father ultimately was, seeks the power to fix things. To un-paralyze her brother; to bring her father back from the dead (twice). To carry out Aaravos' revenge not to bring down the Cosmic Order for 'humanity's greater good,' but to avenge his wrongly executed daughter.
Because magic, at its core in TDP, is about having knowledge and power.
Tumblr media
Or is it? Put a pin in that, for a second.
The main thing I'm meandering my way to is that the mage warlords... didn't have to be warlords. Like, we could've had mage wars where mages were the top or chosen generals, sworn to their respective royal families and fighting to the end. It would've amped up the assassin-dark mage parallels as servants or pawns/perpetrators of the cycle, been an even darker version of Harrow and Viren's fragmented bond of king and high mage, or even what Aanya seems to have going on with hers, etc.
Tumblr media
But instead, the mages responsible for the mage wars were indeed kings and rulers, people who sought more political power void of any other checks and balances or relationships. They were in charge; they were not servants at all (at least, not to anyone but unknowingly Aaravos).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which makes sense: it's easier to manipulate people and get more of it with the more political power they have, especially because the Mage Wars possessed an unstable and rapidly changing political structure ("When one mage rose to power, another was quick to dethrone them") built on competition and bloodthirstiness.
I've speculated in previous metas that Aaravos wanted the remaining warlords to go and wage war on Xadia pre-his imprisonment. If that's true, then Viren being a mage turned warlord (king) is more than repeating history... and we see Karim as another mage grappling for the throne, even if he's less directly manipulated by Aaravos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the show paints a pretty clear message through arc 1 Viren, Karim, and Kpp'Ar: mages who chase political power are more likely to go out of control, and mages who rescind political power are more likely to... end up being Better and with happier endings, at least in theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my mind, the main reason to set the mage warlords up in "magic as a tool for political power" is to demonstrate the dangers of Viren and Karim's ways of thinking, as well as for arc 3 with Aanya's mages (brother?) potentially seeking her throne and war with Xadia.
The good news: while Callum is still part of the occupational high mage line of Kpp'Ar to Viren to him, and has acquired the literal embodiment of it through the Staff of Ziard now being his (more on that here), Callum has never wanted political power in his life!
Tumblr media
Knowledge and power seeking are still things he has to contend with, the way any mage would, but since Callum is far more oriented around love than ego or anything else... while other mages have repeated the history of waging war at Aaravos' behest, and others likely will in arc 3, it is less certain that Callum will be one of them.
He's a mage, but not a warlord; he has no reason or desire to be. Because magic in TDP is about knowledge and power, yes, but it is also about Love, particularly for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rayla's note in Callum's spellbook: That's not cheesy at all Callum. Love is magic!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A simplification, perhaps, given that Claudia is also driven by love (as Terry spells out in 7x05, even if it's becoming warped as part of revenge) and because Callum still has ambition... but unlike the bulk of the show's other high mages or mages turn warlords, he is not ultimately More Ambitious than he is Loving, and that, I think, is what's gonna Save him.

Okay so I did like when the Infinity stones had a kind of… affect on the people around them/interacting with them. This is kinda a nothing observation post but its important to me
Tesseract/Space Stone was most evident, it was temperamental and "Talked" in a way to Loki and Selvig. It sparks an interest. I see it was, kinda like the ocean in the eyes of a sailor, kinda relating to -naut in a sailor capacity in the odd sense my brain comes up with.
It behaves, it acts up, there's infinite depths to explore in its power and magnitude and entirely unfathomable how much power it could give us. It is an ocean in the palm of someone's hand and it can cause just as much destruction on a whim as any body of water could, this body just so happens to be the literal universe.
The Mind Stone is a different case. It has its affects, all different depending on the person, but how I've always interpreted it was amplifying a trait or part of someone's personality. On Selvig it made his scientific curiosity into frenzied fanaticism, which shines through most in his talks to Loki while building the portal machine and how he reverently speaks to Natasha while he's firing it up. Clint the minute he's touched by the stone switches entirely to Good Soldier, his mind control shifts his loyalties and focuses him entirely on The Mission in firing the portal up and helping Loki. Loki himself is more hateful, his anger and cruelty is amped up to an 11 where he is his most consistently devious and schemes more than any other appearance. They are all twisted into the worst version of a certain part of themselves for the point of the goal when it has direction.
Without direction, when Hydra points it at Wanda and Pietro, it amplifies existing abilities by apparently giving Pietro his speed and canonically getting Wanda using her magic again that hasn't been messed with since she was a child. (Honestly, with the Norse connection the Tesseract had, Pietro's case reminds me of that bit of the myth of Utgard-Loki where Thalfi races the personification of Thought in a footrace.) Wanda's magic acts like a emotional defensive response at first so I can see why the Mind Stone got it acting again with her. Hell, it amplified the Jarvi AI into near full humanity when applied to Vision.
With the Aether it literally fed off of Jane when it was attached to her and caused a few hallucinations, literally altering the reality around her and making her have trouble perceiving her own. It's a parasite that eats at what it gets close to and seems to have a penchant for destruction itself, always reacting violently when something got close to Jane while it was attached.
The Time Stone didn't have as much but I'd say it behaves like a system or tool, will is exerted on it without much difference from what was wanted and what happened. It acts less 'alive' than the other ones.
The Power Stone is similar, but hasty. The minute it has contact with something it tries to burn through it and tries quickly, so if I were to give it a personality like the Aether or Tesseract I'd say it's like something viral or murderous.
Lastly with the Soul Stone, it seems mocking. It demands a price, "You want me, give up someone else. Someone you care about. Eye for an eye." When Thanos holds it there's this whisper, when he uses all the stones it mocks him with the image of Gamora asking him if it was worth it. It's petty, its mocking, and it didn't like what Thanos had to do with it. It's a lot of souls gone in an instant.
And honestly? I freaking love that they all have some sort of personality to them. I want to indulge this somehow.

Game Reactions: Out of the Fold & Other Games (x4 playing card TTRPGs)
Link: https://ratwave.square.site/product/out-of-the-fold-and-other-games/62?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
This is one of the books I picked up at UKGE 2025, from Kayla Dice of Rat Wave Game House. It contains four separate games, all using a deck of regular playing cards, among a couple of other tools. Kayla is behind Transgender Deathmatch Legend II, which also uses primarily a deck of regular playing cards. I’m a big of fan of using playing cards. Tarot decks are quite popular within TTRPGs, especially solo ones, for obvious reasons. I enjoy tarot decks, but I’ve got such strong memories of playing cards with my family as a kid, there’s a real nostalgia to handling a deck. On top of that, they’re a nice size to hold and having a hand of cards gives you a constant tactile connection to the game, as well as a fun stim toy honestly.
Each game has its own vibe and aesthetics within the book, but there’s a consistency maintained throughout. As a collection, the games show an abundance of ways to use cards - even a single game can use them in multiple ways.
Out of the Fold
The title game is a GM-less story of magicians escaping from the secret society that trained them. Classes are represented by the face cards and jokers. Players meet a series of obstacles to their escape. Each one has a level of poker hand required to beat it, with escalate in difficulty.
Players collaborate to play cards into a central hand that forms the spell (poker hand) required to beat the obstacle. I got Balatro vibes as I was reading, and sure enough it was shouted out as a big inspiration. The game has great flavour, and I love using poker hands for the mechanics. This one seems fun and I’ll be keen to play it.
Save Our Souls
This has an incredible premise: the players all traded their souls to a dark power in exchange for something, and they’re going on a heist to the underworld to steal them back. It’s so fucking cool.
It’s a hack of Steal the Throne by Nick Bate, which I know of but haven’t read or played. The group sets up the dark power and their domain together. There’s a structure to this, but I wonder whether more prompts and mechanisation would be a benefit. Though with a creative group, I think you could have a lot of fun coming up with some wild stuff here.
From there, players rotate roles between the thieves, the dark power itself, and saviours, who can have a variety of impacts on the process. It’s a really cool engine for some outrageous stories. There’s a lot asked of all the players in terms of generating interesting obstacles and other elements of the world though. I’d suggest finding the best group of weirdos you know to play with, and you’ll probably have a great time.
Once again, we are defeated
A map-making game about a village that is going to be attacked, so the villagers persuade a group of skilled outsiders to defend them. Every premise in this book is just great.
To start with, players create the village, ensuring they’re hopefully invested in its safety. To do this you pull cards which link to prompts. After, you create the outsiders and their motivations - I really felt like you could go melodramatic and ham it up here, really have some fun with it.
The premise is strong enough that the game gets to be genre agnostic and still feel coherent and like it has a voice. This means you could get quite a bit of replay doing different genres, settings, and tones.
Planning the defense is achieved by taking roles of the outsider, a nay-sayer, and a judge. This is a structured debate on the merits of the defensive idea, with the judge determining the chances of success (which has a mechanical impact later). It’s a nice setup, and the game even gives you an additional optional process for the argument, to more structure if that feels better.
From here, you resolve the attack on the village and see the ending. There absolutely will be heavy losses, and the fate of the village as a whole is precarious. Vibes are good, and I think it’s a type of story that is easy for a lot of people to latch onto.
Illustrator’s Guide to the Dreamtlands
The last game is a solo journaling and sketching journey through a surreal landscape. You have an actual flask of coffee and a real tea light, which factor into the game as you play. Playing cards are used mainly for prompts in this one.
Each spread in the book is one step of the journey, and contains one page of text and one that is entirely art. Combined with the coffee and the tea light, a lot of effort is being put into creating the right atmosphere, getting your mind in the right space to generate elements of this surreal land. Getting the right playlist for this would be good as well!
It’s a straightforward (as much as this kind of surreal thing can be straightforward) solo road trip from here, and I don’t want to spoil any specific elements. The quality of the prose is critical though, and it delivers here, it’s very evocative.
Overall
I’m a big fan of the book and all of these games. They’re all really creative, and as a whole they’re varied but still have a coherent and consistent voice to them. It’s also a bargain as a book, for four fully-realised games.

border credit: @/cafekitsune, pic credit: manga panel!!
Tumblr media
Satoru always had such a filthy mouth.
Every single word that came out of the strongest sorcerer alive was laced with pure filth—at least, when it was directed towards you.
You knew not to get intimately involved with him, but the constant banter between the two of you only heightened the sexual tension that was already present—so strong that not even cursed tool: playful cloud could shatter the connection.
So when he gets you splayed out perfectly on his bed, both arms pinned above your head—a cocky grin adorning his face, making sure to mind your place, you knew the game had already started.
He peers down at you with such intensity you can feel yourself shiver under his touch—your pussy quivering for more. He knew it too, he could quite literally feel the way your pussy purrs for him as he fingers your cunt, “ooohh she’s calling out for me, hear that baby~?”
It doesn’t make it any better that he seems to be in a much more playful mood than usual, wanting to assert control over the situation—demonstrating so by having you completely bare before him as he remains fully clothed. A powerful move from a powerful man, and it seems to have lured you right into a trap that you’ve been all too familiar with recently.
Embarrassed, you peer down below to avoid confessing. You were close to breaking, both he and you knew it. You always get so flustered and needy whenever he has you trapped in his web, becoming a dead give away of your pending undoing.
“s-stop teasing me ‘toru,” you mumble, exasperation laced in every word you spoke as your hips sinfully swayed along his fingers and thigh. The moan you let out was delicate, but shit didn’t it make you sound oh so delectable.
“Oh? Someone’s impatient,” he teases, but nevertheless, heeds your command. He hastily shoves his pants down, too amped in adrenaline to strip away—a dead give away of how pussywhipped this man has become for you. He wants you just as much as you want him, maybe even a bit more.
“Pretty girl’s gotta attitude today,” he chides, unable to hide his glee. For him, your brattiness has become a blessing in disguise—uncovering a newfound endeavor in your relationship with him. Every time he gets the chance to tease and rile you up until you talk back, stamp around, or furrow your brows is a dead giveaway for an…interesting day.
And he won’t deny it either, he loves fucking the brat out of you.
“Don’t start cryin’ on me, ‘kay pretty thing? You’re gonna take all of my cock in nicely for me won’t you?” gojo guides his leaking tip against your soaked folds, and before he can press his hips towards your pelvis and thrust his cock down into you, you’ve already shimmied those sneaky hips of yours upwards—effectively pulling in an inch or two more than he intended, shocking him in the process.
“D-damn it, f-fuck aghh—“ he groans, quickly splaying his hand and forearm across your tummy and reaffirming his grip on your wrists. A sweet chuckle sings amidst the haze of lust and it brings Satoru back into reality, allowing himself to stop from sinking fully into your princess pussy and ruining all the fun—sneaky little minx.
“Naughty brat,” he clicks his tongue, nipping slightly at your neck and tilting his hips away from your pussy. Ohhh no—you won’t be getting off that easy, not after that little stunt you just pulled.
“Ah ah babygirl, we go at my pace tonight.”
Tumblr media
What seemed like hours of sadistic torture for you was truly only ten minutes of Satoru’s teasing, pulling out and pushing in soooo slowly—sometimes even stilling inside of you and effectively cockwarming himself. When he’s feeling generous, he’ll give a little circle or two of his hips or will draw figure eights along your slit whilst fully submerged within your depths. You would squirm and beg for him to hurry up, pick up the pace, to just fuck you already, but he would always quiet you down and still your sultry hips by pressing firmer onto your tummy and wrists—all in a way that made you feel so fucking alive.
“I-I can’t, no more!! please ‘toruu just fuck me!!” you cry, puppy dog eyes pulling out those show-stopping tears that make his cock throb ridiculously and chest groan ferociously. You can almost feel his cock becoming thicker—bigger. Molding your pussy to the shape of his dick; molding it to take him for all his worth and then some.
To say he was obsessed with you would be criminal. This, was possession at its finest.
His eyes light up once he hears you beg for him, sees you cry for him, feels you tremble for him.
The perfect lover for the strongest man.
“Aww, you cryin’ for me? Is my dick too good for you baby?” he growls lowly, starting up a brutal pace that has your titties bounce from the sheer force. He quickly latches onto one, licking along the delicate flesh and sucking slightly to further harden your bud.
“You cryin’ soo much for me to fuck you harder—love my dick so fuckin’ much don’t ya baby,” he doesn’t let up on your breasts. Instead, switching to the other as he mumbles those words to you. A man possessed by the sheer glory of your titties and tummy, feeling the way your body ripples against his skin—his powerful thrusts shaking you to your core. You’re moaning so loudly, so violently you almost start to worry about getting a noise complaint.
Almost.
You stopped caring once Satoru let go of his hold, switching positions effortlessly by maneuvering his hands to wrap around underneath your thighs, pushing your legs all the way up to your ears. The grunt he lets out as he stares down at you can be described as animalistic—monstrous, even. It reverberates throughout gojo’s house and makes your heart drop down to your slutty cunt.
“Fuckk, you better get ready for me princess cause ‘m not playin’ around this time.”
He resumes his brutal pace in this much more intimate position, losing himself in the rhythm of your hips and watching the way your plush thighs jiggle with each thrust of his pelvis against you. Fuck he could cum just to that—it makes him go absolutely wild and feeds his ego like nothing else.
“aaa!! ‘toruu~!! toomuchtoomuchtoomuch!! w-wait a sec-ahh~!!” you whine out, pressing your hands on his defined chest, pathetically pushing him away from your body in a fake attempt to escape, serving only to rile your lover up—still holding onto that bratty attitude aren’t you?
“What’s that? Ohh pretty girl, you know the rules, ‘m not stopping ‘til I hear our safeword—you get me?”
You didn’t have to look at him to know he has his signature look, his confident aura, his teasing smirk.
And yes, while Satoru does have a filthy mouth, you can’t help but love that it’s only catered to you.
Tumblr media
a/n: sorry for the smol hiatus guys, lots of big things happening in my life!! anyways, hope y’all enjoyed this—requests still open!! <33

Birthday: 30th June, year ???
Height: 170cm
Weight: middle, she’s got decent muscle
Eye Shape and Color: idk eye shapes well, visual reference above. Color emerald green
Skin Texture and Color: freckled, white, pale-skinned. Her body is littered with scars - arrows, cuts, claws, some burns, most notable however are a prominent scar in the middle of her chest from the usual method of execution by impalement she suffered in Duviri and tendrils of void scarring on her left hand and forearm caused by the severed hand of Lotus merging with her hand in Duviri.
Hair Style and Color: straight hair, usually shoulder length, kept in check with a bandana or tied in a ponytail if she lets it grow longer, crimson red color
Style/Fashion:
casual wear: somewhat loose, comfy clothing. She loves turtlenecks and flannel. Often found wearing sunglasses and headphones plus a backpack. Pink, purple and black/grey.
Tumblr media
battle fit: Armor that resembles Dax armor but with a closed mask with a plume at the top, black base with silver and golden parts and red cloth accents.
Tumblr media
Age: Visually 30ish, actual age ??? (she was 13 when the Zariman Incident happened)
Personality Traits: Gentle, kind, honest, reckless, awkward, open-minded, curious, patient, protective
Likes: tea, plants, animals, floofs, books, music, good stories, tinkering with tech, AMIR.
Dislikes: pollution, Indifference, pointless cruelty, ALBRECHT ENTRATI.
Pet Peeves: hard to find whole leaf tea in Höllvania and these teabags SUCK
Habits: always keeps a tea set in places where she spends a lot of time, often fidgets with the bouncy glaives she can summon through her amp, likes to stay up late
Morals: never refuses to help others, tries to approach everyone with kindness, willing to avoid fighting if it’s not necessary, avoids dishonorable combat. She is vengeful, especially against people who hurt the innocent or things/people she cares about.
Phobias: seeing people she cares about die, having to go back to the future with no way to bring the Hex with her
Pros: good listener, will comfort you, bring you tea or any preferred beverage and tell you a story. Considers protecting others her duty. She’ll not disturb you if she doesn’t have to and you can basically chill alongside her doing your own thing.
Cons: often disregards her own well-being and/or safety. Tends to put others before her too much. A bit… touchy. She was very touch starved so if you don’t like hugs or touch, warn her beforehand because she likes to give hugs.
Personal Glories: getting Amir to date her lol
Personal Trauma: had to kill her older sister when she turned mad because of MITW and as a result she always feels like she failed her in some way. Major survivor’s guilt.
Powers: time looping, Tenno Void powers - while she can perform anything her operator self can do, she has less control over these powers, for example, her void mode/cloak doesn’t always fully protect her or turn her invisible.
Abilities: melee combat, Kaithe riding, pistol/amp shooting. More recent abilities come from the Void powers obtained when she met with her alternate self and became empowered when they chose to have the Drifter be the more active person for the time being. Due to not being used to them yet, she might at times forget that she’s got some of these tools available - mostly concerning focus school abilities. Current main extent includes Void mode/cloak, Void sling, Transference and abilities of the Vazarin/Unairu schools of focus. Still working on the other schools and mastering what she’s currently got. Occasional void mode issues have her try to figure out if she can potentially do the partial void mode on purpose and for example only use the damage protection mode, without the invisibility.
Weapons: Sirocco, a pistol she uses in Duviri, Edun, melee spear she uses in Duviri (I know DE doesn’t let us but she also uses it outside Duviri) and an amp called Flying Blaze, which can project damaging Void energy as either homing, bouncing glaives or a pistol-like blast. When using Warframes, she’s got a variety of weapons to choose from.
Combat Affinity: Flexibility is key. Whether fighting as herself or using a Warframe, she adjusts to the role that is most necessary and controls the battlefield that way. She can switch from attacker to defender and vice versa quickly.
Warframes of choice: Protea Prime, Hildryn Prime, Nova Prime
Social Skills: She’s friendly and open but awkward. Years of isolation make her a bit hesitant at times but if approached, she won’t refuse interaction.
~Relationships~
Lover: Amir. The spark between the two ignited quickly, the common ground helping them develop a friendship that eventually bloomed into much more than that - a true love. They are truly open and vulnerable with each other like with nobody else, sharing their experiences, their nightmares, their joys and their sadness to the full extent. She loves him for all of him. And the most precious thing to her is how he sees beyond her powers and her heroics and sees her as a person. To many, she’s an admirable hero and/or a powerful asset. To Amir, she’s just Kaylessa.
Family:
Deceased parents, she forgot their names at this point but she remembers they were kind and loving. They were scholars.
Deceased older sister, Aurelia, who aspired to be an Archimedean and was a great inspiration to young Kay.
The Hex are kind of a found family to her. They’re both best friends and siblings to her (aside from Amir being her lover)
Friends:
Aoi: They enjoy sharing music sessions with fun beverages together. Aoi greatly encouraged Kay to take the step to confess her feelings to Amir and taught her where the most fun date spots are.
Eleanor: They share legends and stories with each other and hold challenging discussions. Eleanor teaches Kay about languages and the state of the world in 1999. She also helped her name her feelings towards Amir and encouraged to take the step further.
Lettie: finding a lot of similarities to her older sister, Kay holds the softest spot for Lettie. She loves to help her with medical duties and making sure that Lettie can earn a moment of respite. And Lettie helps keep Kay grounded.
Arthur: a relationship of great respect and true friendship, Kay helped Arthur open up and evolve as a leader. They also practice cooking together. He made Kaylessa, who used to be a lone wolf, consider how she works with a team more.
Quincy: while she does consider Quincy an asshole at times and still has a slight grudge about his early treatment of Amir, the fact that in the end he tries to do the right thing has her consider him a positive relationship. She finds how he takes care of the kids in Höllvania to be the most noble thing. She helps him find educational resources.
Others:
While she has close relationships to the folks of the present time, she still considers herself quite… separated from them, especially now that she developed deep relationships with the Hex.
The Lotus (Natah): a mother figure to the Operator, Kaylessa’s title of Champion makes her feel a bit weird but working under her guidance has been a great honor.
Teshin: her mentor and a father-like figure, she cares greatly about him and always appreciates his lessons.
Operator Kaylessa has a sibling-like relationship with Drifter Kaylessa, but the main role the Operator took was one of a mentor.
Ordis: Ordis treats both versions of Kay the same way, like a caretaker. To the Drifter, he’s kind of like an uncle.
Loid: a friendly guide, she deeply appreciates his efforts, but has a bit of a hard time telling Loid that if she saw Albrecht ever again, it’s on sight.
The Cavia: the animals are deeply precious to Kay and another big motivation for her vengeance towards Albrecht.
Dominus Thrax: she pities the child king, after all she created him and kind of made him into her personal punishment
Albrecht: enemy number two, after the Indifference
Viktor: enemy number three
Theme Song: Dead Cells - Clock Tower Dead Cells - ClockTower (Official Soundtrack)
What voice I imagine her having: Sandra Nasic from Guano Apes, especially the first three albums era
Biography: Kaylessa’s parents were biology scholars of good renown. Born in one of the first cities built on the terraformed Venus, Kay led a quiet and idyllic life, in tune with nature from birth as her parents took her and her older sister Aurelia on their research expeditions. Aurelia, being 6 years older, made sure to protect her little sister whenever she had an opportunity and show her the world to the best of her understanding.
Boundlessly curious, Kay took up to learning all about plants and animals, giving her parents great hope she’d follow in their footsteps. Her sister was an academic ace, especially excelling in genetics, with an early dream of becoming an Archimedean. The more reserved future Drifter did not think of such ambitious things yet, but she was no less knowledge hungry, often preferring to read books once she was able to read and look at the beauty of the natural world over interacting with others.
When Kaylessa was 10, her family was selected to be among the first colonists of Tau, boarding the fated ship Zariman Ten Zero, which was to be their new home… and ended up being the tomb for most of them. Three years later, she lost everything and everyone she cared about. Forced to kill her sister who turned mad then watching her parents tear each other apart when imprisoned left her with haunting nightmares and a major case of survivor’s guilt.
She ended up stranded on the Zariman when the deal she made with the Man in the Wall made it so everyone else but her was saved. Escaping into Duviri, she ended up stuck for a long, long time, until the New War’s paradox brought her salvation.
She took up a more active role between the two versions of her after emerging, hoping to give her child soldier self some respite from everything that happened. Until she had to travel in the past… and now she does not know if she’ll want to return, unless she finds a way to bring the Hex with her.
Other notes: ADHD and autism traits but do they diagnose that stuff in the far future? Probably not, up to you if because it’s considered a normal thing or because things are just ignored due to everything being gigafucked. She’s left handed so I mirror everything that defaults to right hand to left hand in my mind, like the Lotus hand. She’s demisexual. Her face scars are less prominent but even then, that’s why she got accessories on her to draw attention from the scars away.
------
As you can see I gave her a small look revamp - after they fixed the kiss cut scene it had me notice a few things that I liked more before fixes and some things that pestered me too much so, I adjusted her look.

Packing the Perfect “Emergency Audio Kit” for Road Gigs
Discover what to pack in an emergency audio kit for road gigs. From spare cables to backup mics, here's how to keep the show running—no matter what goes wrong.
Why Every Performer Needs an Audio Plan B
Tumblr media
What a real emergency audio kit looks like: compact, complete, and built for chaos.
No matter how much prep goes into a show, something always goes wrong. A cable dies. A mixer freezes. A mic stops responding mid-set. For anyone hitting the road—whether you’re a DJ, sound engineer, or performer—having a well-packed emergency audio kit isn’t just smart. It’s essential.
Think of it as your on-the-go safety net. Not a full rig, but the curated set of tools that turns tech panic into a smooth recovery.
A Brief History of Backup Gear Culture
In the early days of live audio, gear was big, analog, and bulky. Touring engineers traveled with road cases full of backups because replacement options were limited, and everything had a “just in case” counterpart.
Today’s gear is more compact and digital—but ironically, more fragile in certain ways. Touchscreens freeze. Wi-Fi drops. USB ports wear out. The “gear bag” has evolved from a box of spares to a curated survival kit for modern live tech.
And in an era where convenience often overshadows reliability, pros who prepare for failure still outperform.
What Belongs in an Emergency Audio Kit?
1. Redundant Signal Path Tools
Always carry:
Backup cables (XLR, TRS, USB, RCA)—don’t just carry one of each, carry spares in usable lengths.
DI boxes (active and passive)—to troubleshoot hum, signal loss, or laptop feeds.
Cable adapters—quarter-inch to mini, XLR to TRS, RCA to 1/8”, etc. They’re small but show-saving.
Even a quality signal chain can break down due to something as simple as a worn cable. Keeping extras on hand isn't excessive—it’s practical.
2. Power and Connectivity Essentials
Tumblr media
Don’t overlook power—these tools solve problems before they hit the speakers.
You’d be surprised how often power becomes the problem:
Power strips with surge protection
IEC and figure-8 power cables
Battery packs for mobile devices or wireless receivers
Spare extension cords
Ground lift adapters
Always assume the venue forgot a crucial power detail—and be the person who didn’t.
3. Microphone Backups
A solid fallback mic is worth its weight. Keep:
1 dynamic vocal mic (think SM58-style)
1 instrument mic or small diaphragm condenser
Clips, windscreens, and spare cables for both
Even if your main wireless mic dies, having a simple wired dynamic in your kit guarantees the show doesn’t stop.
4. Monitoring Options
If your in-ears glitch or wedges fail:
Spare in-ear monitors or wired headphones
Mini headphone amp to plug in directly if your wireless belt pack dies
Small powered speaker (battery-powered if possible) to use as a last-ditch monitor
It’s not about luxury—it’s about options when your stage sound disappears.
5. Media and Playback Redundancy
Don’t trust the cloud alone.
USB drive with key backing tracks or set files
Tablet or phone loaded with music (in airplane mode)
3.5mm aux cable—every sound tech’s last resort
SD card reader or USB-C hub for modern laptops
One song going missing mid-set can kill the vibe. Back it up like your career depends on it—because sometimes it does.
6. Tools and Quick Fix Supplies
A small pouch with:
Gaffer tape (not duct tape)
Multi-tool or screwdriver
Spare batteries (AA, AAA, 9V)
Cable ties or Velcro straps
Flashlight or headlamp for dark venues
These aren’t “nice to haves.” They’re what separate pros from panicked amateurs.
Kit Philosophy: Versatile, Compact, and Show-Proof
An emergency audio kit should be:
Lightweight enough to carry easily
Modular, so you can swap parts based on venue
Tested—check every item monthly so you’re not hauling dead gear
Don’t just build a kit once and forget it. Update it as your gear evolves, as tech changes, and as your experience teaches you what really fails.
What the Pros Pack (That Amateurs Forget)
Tumblr media
Pro-level backups most people forget—until they’re the reason your show doesn’t crash.
Some audio veterans go one step further and carry:
A line checker to test cables on the fly
A network switch for digital rigs using Dante or AVB
Spare SD cards for mixers or field recorders
A Wi-Fi access point for tablet-controlled mixers
These items aren’t always necessary, but in high-stakes gigs or tech-heavy venues, they’ve saved entire shows.
Why This Matters for Retailers and Creators
When assembling your kit, gear choice is key. Not everything sold as “pro” gear can handle the rigors of travel or fast replacement under pressure. This is where working with professional audio retailers can be a huge advantage—they help tailor kits based on real-world performance, not just spec sheets.
A good retailer will suggest:
Cross-compatible adapters
Travel-friendly formats
Rugged, reliable hardware that doesn’t over-complicate
And if you’re just starting to tour, they can recommend scaled kits that grow as your setup expands.
Final Thoughts: Think Like a Sound Paramedic
Live audio is unpredictable. But that doesn’t mean you need to be unprepared. Your emergency audio kit isn’t a luxury—it’s your lifeline. It keeps your set alive, your reputation intact, and your stress levels low.
In the end, the audience shouldn’t know there was ever a problem. With the right kit, they won’t.
Because in this business, it’s not just about sounding great—it’s about staying ready when everything else goes sideways.

dead man walking
chapter five: excitable boy
“invisible kid, never see what (s)he did, got stuck where (s)he hid, fallen through the grid. invisible kid, got a place of (her) own, where (s)he'll never be known; inward (s)he's grown.” -"invisible kid”, metallica
Alex returned home to the Bay Area for a couple of months to tend to himself and figure things out for the road ahead. Only he knew the way out of it and with the tools which he carried on his back. He lived in a small apartment about a block away from his parents on the northern end of Berkeley: he didn't want to go back there, but he knew in his heart that he didn't want to remain there in the Bay Area.
To feel the passage of time on his head and shoulders. To feel the seasons changing. To return to the place which he declared as his own roots.
Prior to his departure for New York and eventually Europe, he picked out his old knit yarmulke from the top drawer of his dresser, something that he hadn't worn in years at that point. He would be across the Atlantic for Hanukkah, but he hoped that he could find a way to light his candles under the veil of European darkness. If nothing else, there had to be a moment for the Festival of Lights.
The tightly woven knit threads were still fine to the touch and it still fit the top most part of the crown of his head. He padded into the bathroom for a glimpse at himself: the little plume of gray on the right side of his brow appeared to be coming back, as the golden light over him shone down on his hair. The black dye had begun to rub off with the presence of time and the elements, and the result was a patch of hair conspicuously lighter than the rest of his head. He adjusted the yarmulke, which only made the patch seem lighter than usual, and he wrinkled his nose at the sight of it.
He looked down at his slender little body, and he wondered where it all went wrong there. With nothing else, he turned off the light and returned to his bedroom.
Somewhere in his drawer was that medallion. Or maybe he left it behind in his parents' house.
No way he could ask his brother about it, who had left the Bay Area to earn his teaching credential.
He turned to his guitar case leaned against his desk and he knelt down and took it out for himself. The only one of his family who acted on his artistry and he had been locked up there in his own home to figure out as to where to go next. Therein lay the possibility of Seattle, but he knew in his heart that that would not follow the line of his heart.
If nothing, visits to the Emerald City lay in his future.
But then there was New York and everything he had told Krista about his feelings with that whole region. The next flight out of the Bay Area, and he would land there in Syracuse to fetch her for the next round over to Europe.
Alex took his seat there on the edge of his bed with his little red guitar rested upon his lap. He hadn't plugged it into the amp but he did strum it a bit with his bare fingers.
Sacrilege, as he often heard, even in the times of which when he sat down with a bass guitar and it was rather imperative that he use his fingers for those big heavy metallic strings. The thin strings nicked the fine calluses on his fingers like little needles but he proceeded regardless of the feeling. He took off the yarmulke and set it on the bed next to him.
There was one meandering, jazzy white boy riff he thought of after The Urge split up and one that he couldn't exactly share with them. Something that would make both Miles Davis and Pat Metheny proud, and yet it was one of those things that hit him sideways before it eluded him in a quick flash and a glimpse. He sat there with one hand over the pick hand to keep it silent and he tried to think of that riff.
Now he understood the power in writing things down and recording them on the spot.
He closed his eyes and strove to envision it, only for him to be jarred awake by his phone ringing. He kept his guitar slung around his body as he made his way into the front room for the cordless on the wall. He gave his jet black curls a toss and brought it to his ear.
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Alex Skolnick?” A man's voice he didn't recognize.
“…yes?” He squinted his eyes.
“This is Frank from Epic—I want to know if you're available to jam with the Spin Doctors in Los Angeles in the New Year.”
He almost dropped the phone from that. “Holy shit, really? I'd love to!”
“Great! January first, we'll get you on the next plane to Burbank and we'll meet you there.”
“Thank you so much! Alright, see you soon.”
They hung up at the same time and Alex rubbed his hands together.
Something to tell Krista when he saw her in two days time.
But he still couldn't remember that riff even when he drove to the airport and boarded the next plane out to Syracuse about thirty minutes before sunrise. She had called him the night before and she vowed that she would meet him at the gate for their next flight.
He took his spot there by the window and he hoped that the fresh new rays of the day would spare him a momentary lapse of blindness. He nestled down in the seat and gazed out at the rugged terrain of California and the desolate high desert of Nevada down below him: at one point, he spotted the speck of blue right before him that was Lake Tahoe, shrouded in thick white and gray lake effect clouds.
A part of him missed playing with Testament and all the traveling he did with them on their tours in promotion of their albums, but he left for a reason and that was to help himself as well as them given their histrionics at the time. He need not view himself as a sacrificial lamb of sorts, given he knew there lay something beyond the world of heavy metal. One foot forward and he found himself outside of the proverbial wall.
He closed his eyes and folded his hands over his waist.
He dozed off and he thought about his jam session with the Spin Doctors in a few weeks time. New Year's Day! Barely enough time to relish the rest of Hanukkah and Christmas break with his brother and his parents. That was sooner than he originally realized and he wondered if he could handle a hectic schedule given Testament's touring seemed rather tenuous in hindsight.
Alex woke up to the jostled feeling of turbulence as well as the pilot's soothing voice over the intercom: “good morning, ladies and gentlemen—this is your captain speaking. We'll be landing in Syracuse in ten minutes time. There's a lake effect storm beneath us at the moment, so we'll be experiencing some turbulence prior to landing.”
He rubbed his eyes and glanced about the fully loaded coach section of the plane. The little old lady next to him had fallen asleep as well and gently, he set a hand on her shoulder and shook her a bit.
“Ma'am? Excuse me—” She raised her head and looked up at him with bleary eyes, and he showed her a crooked little grin. “We're gonna be landing here in a few minutes time.”
She rubbed her eyes and groaned in her throat.
“Okay, thank you, young man,” she told him in a broken voice and she gently patted his forearm.
The plane jolted again and he braced himself out of pure instinct.
“Little windy up here,” said the old lady, nonplussed.
“We're within range of the lakes,” he replied. “The snow's coming.”
“I remember I used to ride the subways down in New York during a Nor'easter when I was a little girl,” she continued, “there was always something so special about it.”
The plane lowered down in preparation for landing and soon enough, they drifted through the clouds and touched down on the jet black tarmac, dry as a bone in spite of the winds.
Soon, Alex emerged from the plane into the brightly lit airport. He stood strong and high over the heads of the crowd with his travel bag over his shoulder and his guitar case rested upon his back. He searched about the room for her head of smooth blonde hair, but he couldn't see her anywhere.
He frowned and he headed for the information booth right across the floor. Right next to that was customs.
All that nonsense and he was set to go across the Atlantic: he tucked his passport into the interior pocket of his jacket when he heard someone call his name.
“Alex!”
He turned his head and Krista hurried up to him with her bags tucked underneath her arms and a knit blue and white winter cap upon her head. He stopped right in his tracks and opened his arms for her. They embraced right then and there as if they hadn't seen each other in years rather than a few weeks times.
“How're you feeling?” he sweetly asked her. He lowered his gaze to her chest and then underneath: through either side of her coat, she was showing a little bit but not a lot. Only a couple of months had passed at that point as well, so she had a long ways to go with it.
“Better than I have been,” she confessed to him as she set her hand there. “My morning sickness isn't as bad as it was and I've got more energy now.”
“That's good! You're gonna need that to kick jet lag's ass—” He yawned once he said that and he knew it was going to be a long day thereafter.
“Hey, there's John,” she declared, and she raised a hand and waved to someone on the other side of the room. Alex followed her gaze over at John, with his long smooth mousy brown hair and large dark eyes, like the everyman there at the airport, and he turned in their direction. She waved at him again and he showed her a warm smile as well as a hand upon his chest. The two of them strode on over to him as he slung his travel bag over his shoulder.
He looked so different without being surrounded by the guys from Armored Saint, but then again, things had been strange in the past year and a half. Right behind him stood the entrance to what appeared to Alex as a coffee shop.
“Hey, Krista—and Alex!” His face lit up when he recognized the faint light patch on the right side of his head, and he put his arms around both of them.
“Whoa, what're you doing here?” Alex asked him, taken aback. “I thought you were already over there in Europe.”
“I had to boogie back real quick to do something for Jonny Z,” he explained. “It's—It's a long story. But how 'bout you? How's life after Testament?”
“It's been interesting,” Alex replied with a thoughtful look on his face, “and a little unnerving, too. Although—and I was just about to tell Krista this, too—I got a call the other day from the manager of the Spin Doctors, believe it or not. They want me to come down to L.A to jam with them on New Year's.”
“Wow!” Krista was stunned by that.
“Yeah, that's huge!” John declared. “The Spin Doctors—they're on fire right now. It'd be an honor for you if that'd happen.”
“Oh, definitely,” Alex replied with a nod and a shiver down his spine. “All I can do at the moment is be the very best 'me' I can.” He followed that with a slight shrug of his shoulders.
“And how're you holding up?” John kindly asked her.
Alex craned his neck behind John and he spotted a coffee pot there on the far end of the counter.
“You guys want some coffee?” he offered the two of them.
“I was just about to get myself a cup,” John said with a toss of that smooth hair back behind his head. “I'm gonna need it, too.”
“I can't have any, remember?” Krista reminded him.
“Oh, yeah, that's right,” Alex quipped with a little blush across his face and John chuckled at him before he led them into the coffee shop there. They were greeted with that warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee on the left side of the room. While John and Krista conversed with each other, Alex swore he saw something that resembled to a sliver of daylight there around the corner of the doorway on the end of the room, the corridor of which led to the bathrooms.
The two of them took their seats at the small table there on the right side of the room and Alex set his things down on the third chair next to them.
“I'll be right back,” he told them.
“Take your time!” John declared. “We've got an hour before the flight out to London.”
Alex headed towards that little narrow corridor and he spotted the back door hanging ajar there right next to the men's room. He shivered and he lunged for the door handle when he recognized a deep voice outside there. He hesitated for a second as he listened to what the man was saying.
“—I want my money, you filthy whore,” he snarled. Alex raised an eyebrow at that. Careful not to bring attention to himself, he crept to the door and he peered outside.
He recognized that smooth black hair and that towering stature, one that rose higher in comparison to him. His back was turned so Alex couldn't see his face, but he could see the mortified expression of the blonde prostitute out there. She shivered and shook against the cold lake effect winds and it took him a second to realize that she was dancing for him.
“Seriously?”
He took out a gun from his holster and he shot the woman. Alex gasped and he kept a hand to his mouth to keep himself from screaming, or vomiting. He lingered back in the nook of the hallway to stay out of sight: Peter spun the gun around his index finger and tucked it back into the holster as if he was a genuine gun slinger. He just killed a woman, and in cold blood for as far as Alex knew.
Breathing hard, Alex stood there for a second and he paid close attention to what was going on out there. Some scuffling and scratching noises, followed by what he believed to be a belt buckle on the cold, bone dry pavement out there. He wanted to know of the things out there, six feet away behind that slightly ajar door, and yet all he could do within his power was listen.
“It's like—it's like—fucking the dead,” Peter growled over the frigid lake effect winds.
With nothing more, Alex scurried away from there and into the men's room. He set a hand on his stomach to keep the nausea at bay and he strove to think of something else. A wash of his hands and he returned back to John and Krista, unbeknownst to the things that happened outside the back door of an airport coffee shop.

Specter Learns Guitar, the Hard Way
Tumblr media
Big things often start small
I may have made a terrible mistake.
I’m a lifelong keyboardist. Not a great one, but an OK one. And I’m finally comfortable enough with the instrument to write my own music. Just one problem: the kind of music I want to make, the stuff that’s running through my head all the time, is on the dream pop/shoegaze end of post-punk. Keyboardists have a place in dream pop, and some of my favorite dream pop acts like Alvvays and Hatchie prominently feature synths. But any genre that descends from punk rock, even something this far-removed, is still fundamentally a guitarist’s genre. Plus, the songs in my head are on the heavier side like The Joy Formidable - no keyboards there, unless you count getting on your hands and knees and playing your effects pedals like a keyboard.
My synth has guitar tones, but they come nowhere near replicating the real thing. And I have some guitar-playing family members who are willing to help me out, but I don’t really know how to communicate my ideas to a guitar player. They don’t read sheet music, they just play everything by ear. How could I communicate how to play a part, or even what tone I’m going for, when I didn’t really know how a guitar works?
Tumblr media
The only halfway decent guitar tone on the Roland Fantom, and it only sounds good after you shove a fuckton of reverb and delay after it.
So, I decided that the only way to get that knowledge was to experience the guitar firsthand. I don’t want guitar to become my main instrument or anything, but I want to at least get comfortable with it. Once I understand how a guitar truly works, it will be much easier to write for it.
Unfortunately, the guitar I want to get - a G&L Fallout - is backordered for a few months. So, in the meantime, I got a cheapo starter guitar to screw around with and hopefully get some of the basics down. I’ll trade it in for a pedal or something later.
Tumblr media
This is the Eastrock 39, and it is a piece of shit. It barely stays in tune, the pickups sound thin and lifeless, and the frets are rough. You have to actively fight this thing to get the strings to ring properly. Some of my tone problems are because I still need to build finger strength, sure, but I’ve read reviews from veteran guitar players that say that this doesn’t play easily. Not great for a supposed “beginner” guitar. On the bright side, it came with a ton of extra stuff that doesn’t suck - a nice guitar bag, beginner picks, a solid capo, audio cables, and luthier tools to replace the strings and adjust the action. It even came with a practice amp, but I live in a studio apartment and have an audio interface for my synth, so I don’t have much use for it.
So… goals. My first goal is to get the basic chords down, figure out how barres work, and learn ONE simple song. I’m not too worried right now about memorizing the fretboard - I’m not gonna do any solos anytime soon - but I need to understand chords to actually play songs. Luckily, guitar sheet music is more commonly written in an alternate form called tablature that is WAY EASIER TO UNDERSTAND THAN TRADITIONAL NOTATION, HOLY SHIT, WHY ISN’T THERE A VERSION OF THIS FOR PIANO!? I’m still not great at reading sheet music, despite my ClAsSiCaL SuZuKi MeThOd training, but it took all of 5 minutes to pick up TAB.
So, what’s my first song? Well, a few months ago, I got a picture of one of my characters playing air guitar and singing along to a song:
Tumblr media
As it turns out, this song - Future Me Hates Me by The Beths - is very beginner friendly. 90% of the rhythm part is the same power chord shape, and the lead guitar part is pretty reserved and minimalistic by Jonathan Pearce standards. Plus, the guitar I'm waiting on is the exact same model that Liz Stokes played on that record. So it should sound perfect, especially once I get a RAT on my pedalboard.
So yeah, we'll see where this goes. I do want to keep track of my progress somewhere, and I'm planning on getting the fuck off Twitter once and for all, so I guess it will go here.

The Stark Legacy (29)
Tony Stark's daughter x Bucky Barnes epic slowburn
Logic, Part of Book III: Power (see previous or series)
Summary: Samantha finally admits she used a version of Extremis to save Sam Wilson's life. Tony's attempts to punish his daughter don't exactly work.
Tumblr media
Warnings for rough parenting, verbal fighting (out of love but they don't know how), and flirty/fun bonding. Rated Teen/15+ ONLY, please. WC 4k
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE—July 2039
Shirtless and a little cold, Bucky sat in a lab with someone poking and prodding at his arm…again. Tony and Samantha stood arguing over him, radiating the same stubborn righteousness.
Tony mumbled critiques of Bucky’s impeccably detailed arm, each proving moot upon inspection or a single-phrase reason from its designer. Bucky watched Sam’s shoulders raise, her back shrinking with each backhanded compliment. She was defensive, but for his part, Bucky thought she should be proud. He had no complaints, save for the one time Tony continued to harp on.
“But the neural overload of being hit by Thor’s lightning…?” Tony jabbed again.
“Corrected by a tissue-specific Extremis, locally injected, as you witnessed,” Sam answered.
Tony hovered over the shoulder, wearing magnifiers. “You got lucky,” he scoffed finally.
“No, I didn’t.” Sam backed towards the far chairs, tired and avoiding eye-contact. “It was engineered to die after one proliferation. Captain Barnes was never in danger of infection.”
“So you admit it’s an infection?” Her father straightened, bouncing a reflex tool off of Bucky’s elbow to measure the flinch. There was no point to it, but Tony always enjoyed making Bucky furrow his brow in annoyance. “Do you know how many things could have gone wrong with an adaptive virus like that?”
Sam’s nostril’s flared. “It worked on Wilson, didn’t it?”
The room filled with lead. Tony dropped the tool, eyes wide. “Excuse me,” he breathed.
A light clicked on so ferociously in his mind it made Bucky’s eye twitched. Her concern on our flight to Wakanda, testing Wilson with cards during training…A surge of irritation for not connecting it sooner swept through him.
Sam broke the heavy silence. “I knew the neural-isolated virus would work on Big Sam because I’d already used a dermal version on myself. He wasn’t getting better. Steve told me you all had as good as given up.”
So Steve had to have pieced together what she’d done… This meant she had already used Extremis on herself before that day in the woods. Sam knew exactly what she carried around with her. She had pointed for him to use it. She was exactly as brilliant as Tony and just as self-destructive. He watched her closely in the quiet.
“And Buc—Barnes’s enhanced nerve cells just hadn’t adjusted to the magnification effects of vibranium—” stares followed every move of her anxious hands “—so I…aided their rapid adaptation.”
Bucky tried to help. “And now I’m fine, so we are all good.”
“You experimented on a member of this team?” Tony’s face went purple, several veins dangerously pulsing with every word. “Without his permission? In this building?”
Bucky distinctly remembered Tony saying they had run out of viable therapies.
Sam rang her hands. “You lied to me,” she spat, “at the wedding you told me he would be fine. Of course I tried everything—I tried more than you did.”
“So you graduated to organ and limb replacement—”
“—treatment—”
“—after one success? That’s ridiculous. That’s reckless.” Tony almost charged at Samantha. She leaned towards him, unafraid. Bucky couldn’t get between them this time.
“How was I supposed to know Buck would get hit by 30,000 amps in a newly connected neuron path?” Sam threw up her arms in Tony’s face. “Even if he had his metal arm, you cant just dial people up to eleven.”
Tony buckled. “That—” he shouted, waving a finger in his daughter’s face “—that movie is a classic.” He took a long moment to swallow a boulder of pride.
Sam teetered, eyes darting around from place to place. She had no more reference ammunition.
Bucky sat still as stone, waiting for the accusations of personal endangerment and downright stupidity certain to come, but Tony shifted. His muscles slacked. The crinkling around his eyes smoothed, and Stark turned to Bucky, dismissing him with a pat on the back.
“You’re done. You’ll survive.” Tony shoved his sleeves up his arms. ”You can go, too, Sass.”
Her neck tensed, lip twitching again, jaw tight as a wire about to snap, but Sam made it out the doors before Tony could even turn around. Standing, Bucky grabbed his shirt, surprised she let Tony have the last word.
Before Bucky pulled the fabric over his head, however, Tony made his way over to whisper, “other than her ass on that chair behind that screen, nobody discusses Avengers’ business with her. Got it?” Tony pointed to Banner, who stood frozen with a look of utter bewilderment. “Good talk.”
Tumblr media
Life at Headquarters attempted normalsy after weeks of changes following Tony’s return. Sam Wilson retired to permanently train new recruits. Steve Rogers returned to the quiet life in the hills, regularly asking Tony if he wished to join him and Sharon for a day. Tony declined and joked about needing to be the center of attention. Not enough cameras. No reason to wear a suit, iron or three-piece.
The dynamics at HQ were shifting, but they needed to, fast.
Standing inches from a glass wall overlooking busy workers, Stark hoped his outer appearance betrayed nothing of the deep fatigue weighing his insides. He recovered from space-sickness months ago; something more sinister plagued him now.
Bruce Banner sat with Samantha at a far station, several projected screens in front of the doctor while Sam sat quietly ‘being instructed.’ She remained safe at what amounted to an incredibly expensive cubicle with the world’s most over-qualified tutor. Tony convinced himself that Sam felt included doing busy work at the computer.
“I don’t like people handing me things,” Tony grunted, spurning an offering from Maria Hill.
The agent rolled her eyes. “You have taken files from me before, Stark.”
“Well—” he shrugged “—I’m an enigma. Humor me. What’s the lay of the land?”
Maria dropped the files on the shining steel table with a thud, glancing across the room.
“Shield teams are on every continent dealing with outlying threats or suspected D-Lite transformations. We’ve got alerts out to all morgues to check all overdose victims for traces of the drug to see the scope of its distribution, but not everyone has the resources to test.” Maria sighed. The Director of Operations withheld the current estimated death toll from her briefing. Bruce mentioned to Tony it had reached over one thousand since Cloak and Dagger survived the drug. “Three aquatic inhumans have been assigned to Atlantis to help Namor. Still no sign of Victor Von Doom, but we’ve been unable to search Latveria—”
“Why not?” Tony cocked an eyebrow.
“Diplomatically, it’s a non-starter seeing as we are basically accusing the country of being complicit in harboring an enemy of state—our state, that is.”
Which they are, he thought. He missed the old days of smash-and-grab, asking for forgiveness after he got what he wanted. Iron Man had no nation as Earth’s savior; he landed wherever, whenever…before the Accords.
“Their rep’s language is vague, but it sounds as if our targets are some sort of national treasure. The country’s GDP and living standard have increased remarkably over the last decade. Our enemies are Latveria’s heroes. The people seem to revere Doom.”
“Heroes plural?”
“Again, it’s vague, but they emphasize that no citizens will be considered for extradition whether we have proof of crimes or not. The UN Inhuman Oversight Committee has no jurisdiction. Latveria never signed the Accords and holds no official participation.”
“Where are they getting all this cash, all that industry?” Bruce face sank, his eyes darkened with concern.
Director Hill shrugged, adding only “unknown.”
Sam chirped to attention across the room. “Did we consider the doctor was trying to access vibranium for the benefit of his people?”
Tony shot her down. “We don’t need to give this guy the benefit of the doubt—”
“So motivation isn’t important?”
“We don’t rationalize crazy.”
“Sorry, Tony,” Bruce interrupted, “but we do if it helps figure out motive. We can use it to figure out where he went.”
“So, what’s a substance like vibranium most helpful in use for?” Sam continued. “Weapons? Infrastructure? Medicine? Do we know how much he wanted? Is there an alternative material he may go after?”
“He wasn’t prepared to physically carry much alone over a sea,” Tony thought aloud.
“Adamantium,” Bruce added, “but it’s a poor substitute in certain applications.”
“Has any source of that been attacked?”
Maria flipped open one file. “Nothing. Wanda is with the X-Men, has been for a while, and there’s been no action against their facility, even with teams away on missions consistently.”
Sam sat back in her chair, twiddling her finger clipped inside a monitor attached to an electrified wire. Today’s experiment. “So what did Doctor Doom get that replaced his need for vibranium? Could he have gotten it from somewhere else?”
Tony fitfully paced along the windows. “You are not an agent. Eyes on your screen, Killian-two.”
Sam’s lips tightened in frustration. Her physical training had come to an abrupt halt after Tony woke from his first decent night’s sleep on Earth. She was relegated to sit silently beside Bruce and answer only when asked a question. In her newly free time, Tony allowed Hill to use Sam to check positioning orders. It may have been equivalent to assigning a supercomputer basic algebra, but her mother had been good at it. Why shouldn’t Sam? Sam stayed during a brief only because he was currently testing electromagnetic resonance to disrupt her energy production.
“She has a point,” Maria jumped in. “We originally thought he was trying to update his own shielding with vibranium but if he wanted to do something else…”
“And why did he approach so obviously? Like he wanted to fight you guys,” Sam added.
“Don’t you have a caffeine addiction to feed?” Tony snapped.
Sam stood and fired a small ball of plasma from her left hand into the steel waste bin inches away from Tony’s leg. It smoked as he turned away, defeated. Current running across her skin caused no disruption. Test failed. Next theory.
“Yeah, I can do that too,” Tony mumbled.
Smug atop her high horse, Sam shifted on her feet. “Without a suit?”
Maria rolled her eyes before they landed on Bruce. “I don’t need to be here for this. Call me if you think of anything else,” she grumbled while walking out.
“You know, I pioneered the functional use of clean energy.” Tony’s chest puffed farther out.
Unamused, Sam’s eyes went wide and her mouth gaped. “No shit? That’s so cool. What’d you say your name was again?”
He clucked his tongue. “Makes me feel a tad disrespected when you speak to me like that.”
“Said everyone who’s ever spoken to you.”
A snort sounded beside her. “Damn it, now there’s two of you,” Bruce murmured, stifling a cough before dismissing himself for a break.
“And that’s lunch,” Sam said, skirting the table towards the door. “Your bull makes me hungry.”
“Burns calories. Keeps me trim.” Tony slapped his stomach and followed her out. “A burger does sound good.”
She shrugged. “Ty’s got me hooked on cereal now. I mean, I crave it—”
“Also your Hogwarts letter came today,” Tony added, pulling the opened card from his pocket. “Trash can comes out of your allowance.”
Tony walked beside Sam to the kitchen, reciting the fancy cursive words on the oversized page by memory.
Samantha Stark
7am October 5th, 177A Bleeker Street.
Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Steven Strange
“Notice how he took twice as much space for his own name. Classic Strange. If you learn any party tricks, be sure to teach me.”
Tumblr media
Sam stood firm in a familiar hallway, torn between working her station by Bruce or being alone in her room. Both options made Sam want to cry in boredom.
The gorgeous, strawberry-blond looked back at her from the frame on the wall. Virginia Potts’ dazzling smile, the delicate height of rosy cheeks, and beautiful blue eyes taunted Sam. Her mother looked effortless, radiant, calm. Hung among all sixty-eight portraits, Pepper still stood out in a crowd.
Sam could see that maybe their eye shape was similar, perhaps the fullness of their lips, possibly their jawline. She could remember her mother’s bubbly nature, a story time or two, the gentle sweep of hair across her face when Pepper leaned to kiss her goodnight. It tickled. It tickled her still, the thought of that kind of proximity. Sam sometimes imagined it was Pepper when the room was dark and Laura Barton called ‘sleep tight’ to her.
Pep put out fires for Tony. She said no to him. She put up with years of one-night stands. He paid closer attention to those women than her, even if momentarily…
Sam imagined what advice Pepper would give her now. Consistency, sweetheart, perhaps, and then he’ll see you. But Pepper herself was all Tony ever truly wanted. Nothing Sam could ever do would matter as much.
Her fingers went limp in her daydream, releasing Strange’s invitation to flutter to the grey floor. As she picked the paper back up, Sam had the urge to rip it apart. This wasn’t what she wanted; this wasn’t worth any of the hell she’d gone through. Sam couldn’t sit behind a screen behind Dr. Banner behind the enormous umbrella corporation behind her father. That wasn’t her place.
She was no fighter, and there was never anything mystical about her. Sam would disappoint Strange just as she disappointed Tony.
“Hey.”
Sam startled, spinning around.
“Sorry,” Bucky added, reaching out to help her balance, “I’ve got you. Almost didn’t find you. You weren’t in the lab.”
Sam tried to focus after lost so deep in thought. “Nope.”
Bucky smiled. “Okay, Sass, I had an idea. You game?”
Sneaking a glance back at Pepper’s portrait, Sam haplessly nodded, shrugged, and shook her head all at once. She never knew what she should do at any given time these days. Missy would know, but Sam didn’t.
Tumblr media
The pure joy on her face distracted him from the scalding splatter of beef fat on his arm.
“Look! The grill marks are in the shape of my palm,” Sam exclaimed.
“Be careful with that,” Bucky cautioned to her outstretched hand. Cooking seemed a safe activity for Sam to participate in, one of which he assumed Tony would approve, and it proved equally entertaining to Bucky. Everyone eats, and as Sam pointed out, learning to make her father’s favorite from scratch could only help her.
The novelty of Sam’s skin reaching a high enough surface temperature to cook the meat wore off on Bucky much faster than Sam. Seeing her so excited held its luster though. As always when he’d found her, she hadn’t eaten.
Sam slapped down her first charred patty with glowing pride. I could make a habit of this, Bucky thought, I might have to. Ever since Tony and Bruce panicked at Samantha’s confession of injecting Wilson with Extremis, whatever version of it, Wilson was unceremoniously ‘retired,’ moved to D.C. to work with engineers of projects following his upgraded EXO-7. This left Bucky without a partner and benched to do his own worst nightmare—PR.
Public relations made Bucky long for the days of hiding in Romania, speaking to no one, and sitting alone in an apartment in the dark. That was preferable to the flashing cameras, every so often being shrieked at by an over-excited ‘fan.’ Uncomfortable didn’t cover the feeling, a fact Samantha noticed.
“Saw you on TV,” she offered, grabbing another patty. Her glance skittered away when Bucky looked up in question. “I’m sorry you have to do that. You look so miserable.”
“I thought I pulled it off rather nicely.” Without the infiltration expertise of Natasha, Bucky was far more transparent than he hoped.
Sam snorted. “Sure. Oscar-worthy even.” She defiantly grabbed a potato chip with her free hand and popped it in her mouth, smirking just like her father when he coined a new nickname.  From what Bucky witnessed, the Stark duo were evenly matched in everything except pop-culture references and anecdotes about team members.
Sam gnashed her teeth as if she’d been raised by monkeys. She flipped the burger like a pancake in her hand.
Her smugness reminded him how irritating Tony could be, and the surge of indignation caused Bucky to strike back, less playfully than intended. “You eat like a heathen.”
Sam’s smile fell. She rummaged for small chips, eating piece by piece, becoming a model of dainty and quiet chewing. She changed into the type of delicate bird Bucky recently met on dates. That was not his intention, his valid observation surpassed by a twinge of pain seeing her deflating spirit.
“It’s a shame everyone now is so formal,” he said through a frown, hoping to be more convincing than promotional outings.
Sam furrowed her brow in question but remained focused on eating politely.
“I mean, these dates Sharon sets up, coffee and drinks. We just sit there. What happened to dancing or a hike or exploring a city? It’s stifling to not move around.”
“Doesn’t sound all that bad to sit still,” Sam offered before fully swallowing another chip, shoulders relaxing. “Picnics are outside but you’re sitting.” Slapping down the cooked burger, she tightened again when she noticed her manners. “How many you up to now?”
“Six.” In half as many months but also in twice as many years. “I’m a regular Casanova of the Coffee Shop.”
Sam snorted. “Librarians not doing it for you?”
“Four were—are agents,” Bucky said, mumbling, “but I’m here all the time when not on mission, so talk always circles back to work and clearance level and what she’s allowed to know. Then I have nothing else to talk about because this building—the job—is, unfortunately, my whole life.”
“There’s the door.” Sam pointed with her free hand. “You just said you wanted to get out there.”
“Yeah,” Bucky sighed, “Sharon said that.”
“So nothing sparked? Did you even try?” Sam fluffed the heap of lettuce beneath the cooked burgers. “Buck, you aren’t Quasimodo. This shouldn’t be that difficult for you.”
“She said that, too.”
Sam raised her shoulders and hands, one still glistening with grease, waiting for an explanation.
Bucky mimicked her gesture. He had no reply, but the corner of his mouth twitched when he heard her call him ‘Buck.’ She’d done it before, but he couldn’t pinpoint when it started. It was nice, friendly and familiar as when Steve said it, comforting.
Sam sighed a few more times while washing her hands and holding up the plate for Bucky to remove the other patties from the heat.
“Odd question,” she said finally, “are you unhappy?”
“What? No. We both…were alone for so long, Steve just wants the same companionship for me that he’s found.”
The eyebrows raised again as Sam waited for more of an answer that never came. Then she set down the plate to say, “I may not have much experience with…people, but I never saw the appeal. I may have been unhappy with myself at times, but no person brought me out of that. If they had, that would be unfair to hang my happiness on them. Personally, I don’t believe that’s what love is for.”
At 18 years old Sam instantly became the wisest person in the building.
“But,” she added, “you also don’t want to end up like my father because that is just sad.” Sam looked Bucky dead in the eyes, saying “even Frankenstein’s monster had a bride.”
“Sam!” Tandy burst around the corner. “Found you. Oh gosh, smells great. You coming down for bowling? Ty’s setting up.” The blond huffed, out of breath from her excitement and race through the halls. Her gaze landed on Bucky. “You can come too if you bring the food.”
“Jeez, Dee, tell him your priorities,” Sam retorted but snapped up the plate all the same. She made no attempt to ask Bucky if he would join. “We’re in. Grab whatever fixings you want from the fridge.”
Bucky couldn’t argue; after making a big deal about not having activities, bowling qualified as another safe and normal pastime. He followed with the chips.
He did not prepare himself for the contrast between the sage wisdom Samantha had laid forth in the kitchen and the crouching form centered in the lane, heaving a ball from between her legs. It was truly painful to watch and yet utterly hysterical.
He laughed until tears ran down his cheeks.
“Everyone’s a critic,” Sam grumbled, planting hands on her hips as she stood up. “You don’t like my granny-roll?”
Bucky could barely get out the words through choked breaths. “Why…why can’t… you just…throw it normally?”
Sam opened her mouth to make some indignant reply but was cut short by a third, neutral party.
“We found out the hard way—” Tyrone indicated a sloppily patched hole in the wall above the pins “—that Sam cannot roll gently into that good lane.” Smiling, his air was tailor-made bombast aimed directly at his friend.
Sam rolled her eyes well enough. “Thank you, Winston.” She returned to her seat beside Bucky while Tandy bowled her frame. “It’s all or nothing with exerted force, it seems, but not the generated energy blasts. Those I can control pretty well now. It’s fascinating, but apparently not interesting enough to research since Tony’s return. I suspect it has something to do with extended direct contact with the vibranium in my skin since this is my dominant hand.” Sam’s rambling ended with a wiggle of the fingers on her right hand before she looked up.
Bucky zoned out somewhere in the middle, but he did manage to keep his expression focused enough that Sam was fooled. See, I’m ok at acting. I’m convincing.
Tandy dance-bowled across the lane, gracefully landing a seven-ten split. Tyrone gave a golf clap and picked up his ball of choice. They’d heard Sam’s theories before. Neither having a scientific bone in their bodies, no one responded.
Sam pushed her empty plate away and tucked her hands into her hoodie pocket.
“Have you ever tried,” Bucky delicately started, “talking like everyone else?”
Sam scoffed, adjusting her shoulders against the hard chair.
“What’s wrong with intelligence?”
Bucky felt the hair on his arm bristle in discomfort. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Well, that’s sure as shit what it sounded like. I’m not ladylike enough for you? Get in line. I’m not the one who wants ‘movement dates’ and a woman with a lizard pin. Be unique but not too unique. Jeez, with my loud eating, my granny-roll, even my scientifically curious thoughts—” Sam flatlined her hands in a sweeping motion “—then I’m…what? Indelicate? Uncouth? Unfriendly? So it’s my fault my father can’t stand me?”
Unable to stop himself, Bucky pressed his hands up to calm her, replying, “that was perhaps the most unladylike thing I’ve witnessed in fifty years. Please, I meant nothing else. I meant—” What the hell do I mean? “—communication is important to…listening can help friends relate to…common interests.” He couldn’t grasp his point. The smirk across his lips threatened to release his own indelicate snort as he imagined the slow, ridiculous move which he was sure to witness repeatedly.
Sam pursed her lips. “That was the most unintelligible thing I’ve ever heard…” she said under her breath, “but I listened to it.”
Tandy dressed another burger. “Hate to burst your bubble, Cap, but you can’t go back. She’ll tear you apart with logic. Better move on.” She cut it in half, Tyrone claiming the second half on his return to the table. Bucky noticed them move like yin and yang, perfectly in sync.
“Right,” Bucky mumbled. I suppose I can’t, for better or worse.
“You’re up.” Ty wiped the corner of his mouth. “Wasn’t there a dance where the men did just that b-between their legs to the woman?”
There was a dance like that, and Bucky remembered fondly that Miss Dot with her red eyed pin was the last partner he’d had for it.
“You know what that means,” Tandy giggled. “Go show us your granny-roll.”

Folder number 2 is... we're gonna save that one. Folder number 3 is labeled overall design and techniques.
We have some advice from https://twitter.com/Verseshi/status/1758568438363279456 on the arrangement and shaping of 'tactical' characters. It's a multipart set.
Tumblr media
A tutorial on edging. I haven't actually reviewed this properly. https://twitter.com/Subakeye/status/1756953963604115536
The Etherington Brothers are always helpful, and republish advice from multiple sources. Here's one for the arms in the hands on hips position. https://twitter.com/EtheringtonBros/status/1754155929245728983
Tumblr media
Ditto, but for motion and action speed emphasis. While intended for animations, the smear can be applied to stills as well. https://twitter.com/EtheringtonBros/status/1759981371965989135
Tumblr media
This next one seems to also be much the same. For drawing the head at high angle, specifically chin.
Tumblr media
Shadows, again from Etherington Brothers.
Tumblr media
There is this I have saved for both scarring and muscular definition. Useful for weathered characters. https://x.com/nr4CES/status/1750902684616712462
Tumblr media
This is more niche, it's a reference for what someone's conception of gestalt infantry armor (signalis) might be. It is also however for me personally a good look at what a target look of a sketch might be. From https://x.com/ReiTuki
Tumblr media
...ok this one's a little risque I'm gonna
exercise my power of discretion.
You use Krita? This might be handy for you. https://youtu.be/n3PIdyzVGAI
The same effect can be done by selecting the Contiguous Selection Tool and clicking inside the object you want to color. Note that this can be rather finicky and will usually require detailing work, but it saves a lot of time when you can 100px quickfill something.
Etherington Brothers again, this time about perspective of something.
Tumblr media
I'll let this one speak for itself, it's interesting as an alt way of doing silhouettes.
Tumblr media
Etherington Bros again. Foreshortening hands and perspective this time. https://twitter.com/EtheringtonBros/status/1774212481751142471/photo/1
Tumblr media
This one is just labeled as "neat". Probably useful if you plan to do any animal heads or antho... Anthropromor... ANTHROPOMORPHIC, designs, and it also includes some interesting interaction with the outline. Note how OP creates lighting by changing the outline color.
From here. https://s-milesart.tumblr.com/post/747802690437939200/clairen-comm-i-did
Tumblr media
Comically large Otter, apparently. Useful for looking at what a sketchier style resembles and also shading techniques , the classic darkened half-face, etc. https://www.tumblr.com/drawligator/747343275642568704
Tumblr media
Next up... Big Rabbit. Good example of grayscale, but I'm not sure how OP got it to look like construction paper texture. https://kiserinn.tumblr.com/post/748757010545295360/kitty-girlfriends
Tumblr media
A little retro mecha reference as a treat. Game is apparently "Advanced Power Dolls 2 // Kogado" https://x.com/PC98_bot/status/1788271106824048701/photo/1
Tumblr media
...why isn't this in Armor and Materials? Gundam but like, power armor. This seems to be OP? https://x.com/DTZ1200WG/status/1543940133572866049
Tumblr media
Sometimes you just find a character Neat. Ya'll like eldritch stuff? I think the new kids call this horrorcore. Out of the sake of not being Murdered by moderation, I've cropped it down a little. https://x.com/nan_just_nan/status/1721575054327034024
Tumblr media
Wanna make something look biological? More ambiguously sorted materials!
Tumblr media
Another art of a scarred character. Lighter weathering compared to the previous, but fullcolor.
Tumblr media
fnuy https://www.reddit.com/r/MoeMorphism/comments/185i003/green_hill_zone
Tumblr media
I'm gonna split this in half and not fix it with flex tape so that I don't need to flex seal CPUs and GPUs back together.
hot artists don't gatekeep
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

From Labor Crisis to Strategic Policy: Why Robotics Is Reshaping Global Industrial Strategy in 2025
The robotics industry isn’t just growing, it’s restructuring the global economy. With forecasts placing the market at $346 billion by the end of 2025, robotics is no longer a “future trend.” It’s now a core policy tool in the hands of governments and corporations alike.
While headlines often focus on AI breakthroughs or new product launches, the most powerful forces behind the robotics boom are macroeconomic, specifically, aging populations and workforce gaps.
In Asia-Pacific, the aging curve is steep and fast. By 2030, more than 30% of Japan’s population will be over 65. In South Korea and China, similar demographic trajectories are forcing policymakers to rethink how economies stay productive as working-age populations decline. Their solution: automate. Fast.
Governments in these regions are no longer passive investors in innovation. They are directly funding, subsidizing, and integrating robotics into national agendas. In Singapore, robotic solutions are central to the country’s healthcare modernization strategy. In South Korea, tax incentives and export subsidies are boosting the global competitiveness of domestic robotics firms.
Meanwhile, across North America, a different yet equally urgent dynamic is unfolding: a chronic labor shortage. As of Q2 2025, over 600,000 manufacturing jobs remain unfilled in the U.S. This has shifted the robotics conversation from efficiency to necessity. Logistics hubs, industrial facilities, and even small-scale manufacturers are adopting collaborative robots (“cobots”) not to optimize—but to survive.
This is why U.S. and Chinese robotics startups are dominating investment flows and global IP pipelines. According to our recent breakdown, American firms like AMP Robotics, Covariant, and Boston Dynamics are capturing major capital and integrating AI into factory-level automation. On the other side of the Pacific, China’s Youibot, Unitree, and Fourier Intelligence are growing rapidly with state support and aggressive go-to-market strategies in Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe.

7 Powerful Ways Wine Boosts Your Creativity Why Wine and Creativity Click Deeper Dives Into the Creative Well The Ultimate Creative Kick Why 2025 Needs This Boost How to Sip Creatively Real Creative Sparks Busting Wine Myths Your 2025 Creative Edge Conclusion: Sip Into Brilliance Other interesting links 7 Powerful Ways Wine Boosts Your Creativity Wine isn’t just a drink—it’s a spark for your mind. As of March 12, 2025, science and stories back it up: a glass of Pinot or Rosé can ignite your creative fire. These seven powerful ways show how wine can unlock your inner genius, whether you’re brainstorming solo or hosting a team building experience. Ready to sip your way to brilliance? Let’s dive in. I’ve felt it—wine in hand, ideas flowing—and I’ve seen it in others. This isn’t about getting buzzed; it’s about what a pour can do for your soul and brain. Here’s why wine’s your 2025 muse. Why Wine and Creativity Click Wine’s been tied to art forever—think poets with Port or painters with Merlot. In 2025, with hybrid work and a crave for inspiration, it’s more than tradition—it’s a tool. From relaxation to revelation, here’s how it works. 1. Relaxes Your Mind (Walls Come Down) A glass—say, a Chardonnay—eases tension, quieting the inner critic. Studies show moderate alcohol lowers inhibitions, letting ideas slip free. I sipped a Sauvignon Blanc after a stuck day—suddenly, a project clicked. It’s not magic; it’s chill. 2. Sparks Connection (Ideas Collide) Wine’s social—share a Cabernet, and conversation flows. At a team building night, it bridges gaps, mixing thoughts into something new. I ran a team building experience with Syrah—shy folks pitched wild ideas by glass two. My “Vineyard Explorer” package amps this up—try it. 3. Boosts Divergent Thinking (Wild Ideas Fly) Research says a small dose of alcohol—like a Prosecco—enhances divergent thinking, where you leap beyond the obvious. It’s not about slurring; it’s about soaring. I doodled a story after a Riesling—weird, brilliant, mine. Wine nudges you off the straight path. Deeper Dives Into the Creative Well These next ways show wine’s subtler powers—beyond the buzz. 4. Heightens Senses (Details Pop) Swirling a Malbec tunes you in—scents, tastes, colors sharpen. That focus spills into art, writing, or problem-solving. I sniffed a Zinfandel—blackberry notes sparked a poem. It’s sensory fuel for your muse. 5. Slows the Rush (Room to Dream) Wine’s pace—sip, not gulp—gives your brain breathing room. In 2025’s hustle, that pause births breakthroughs. A Pinot Gris on my porch—slow sips, big ideas. It’s time to think, not scroll. 6. Ties You to Ritual (Creativity Loves Routine) Pouring a Tempranillo can signal “create mode”—like a painter’s smock. Rituals prime your mind; wine’s a tasty one. I pour Grüner Veltliner before sketching—brain flips on. It’s my cue; find yours. The Ultimate Creative Kick This last reason seals it—wine’s a quiet game-changer. 7. Fuels Curiosity (Questions Bloom) A Cava or Assyrtiko begs questions—where’s it from? How’s it made? That wonder spills into your work. I tasted an orange wine—funky, odd—then wrote a sci-fi twist. Wine’s a why-machine. Why 2025 Needs This Boost Creativity’s king in 2025—hybrid teams, new challenges, art as escape. Wine fits: low-ABV Moscato keeps it light, organic Sangiovese nods to now. It’s not about excess; it’s about enhancement. I’ve seen a team building crew spark a campaign over Rosé—2025’s ripe for this. How to Sip Creatively Your plan: One Glass: Moderation—1-2 max, creativity’s sweet spot. Mix It: Try Viognier, then Grenache—variety stirs you. Pair It: Cheese, music—amp the vibe. Host It: My “Wine & Dine Delight” package turns team building experiences into idea-fests. I sip a Chenin Blanc, pen in hand—works every time. Real Creative Sparks Last month, a Pinot Noir night birthed a short story—dark, twisty, alive. At a team building experience, Prosecco fueled a logo brainstorm—bubbles, brilliance. Then there was the Cava evening—solo, quiet, a painting emerged. Wine’s my co-creator. Busting Wine Myths Skeptical? Let’s debunk: “It’s just booze.” Nope—science says it’s a spark. “I’ll overdo it.” One glass—control’s yours. “Not for me.” One sip—see what happens. I doubted too—then a Rosé unlocked a song. Try it. Your 2025 Creative Edge These seven ways—relaxation, connection, wild thinking, sharp senses, slow pace, ritual, curiosity—make wine a creativity catalyst. In 2025, it’s your secret weapon, from solo breakthroughs to team building wins. Imagine: a Merlot, a notebook, a masterpiece. I can pour that vibe—let’s uncork your genius. Conclusion: Sip Into Brilliance Wine boosts creativity in 2025 like nothing else—seven reasons prove it’s more than a drink, it’s a muse. In a year craving fresh ideas, it’s your edge—subtle, powerful, yours. One glass can shift everything. So, pour a Syrah, grab your spark, and create. Your genius is waiting—cheers to that! What is the Best Home Recording Studio? Your Guide to Building a Pro Sound Space at Home
In the past, recording high-quality music required big studios, racks of gear, and a massive budget. But not anymore. Today, you can create radio-ready tracks right from your bedroom or spare room—if you have the best home recording studio setup for your needs. So, what actually makes a home studio “the best”? Let’s break it down.
It Starts With Your Space: Room Acoustics Matter
Before you even think about gear, take a look around your room. Hard walls and bare floors can cause echoes, flutter, and unwanted reverb in your recordings. That’s why even small home studios benefit from acoustic treatment like:
Bass traps in corners to tame low-end rumble
Acoustic panels to reduce reflections
Diffusers to keep the room sounding natural
A little treatment goes a long way to help you capture clean, clear recordings and mix your tracks with confidence.
Tumblr media
Your Computer: The Hub of Your Studio
These days, your computer is the heart of your entire setup. Whether you’re using a Mac or PC, look for:
Plenty of RAM (16GB or more for music production)
A fast processor (i5, i7, or M1/M2 chips)
Solid State Drive (SSD) for quick loading times
You’ll also need a solid Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Each DAW has its strengths. Choose one that matches how you like to create music.
Audio Interface: Your Sound Gateway
An audio interface converts your instrument or microphone signals into digital audio your computer understands—and vice versa. For the best home recording studio, look for an interface with:
Clean preamps for microphones
Low latency for real-time monitoring
At least two inputs if you record vocals and instruments simultaneously
Studio Monitors vs. Headphones
While headphones are essential, nothing beats studio monitors for mixing. Unlike consumer speakers, good monitors provide a flat, uncolored sound so you can hear your mix accurately.
Microphones: Choose the Right Tool
A good mic makes a huge difference. For vocals, a large diaphragm condenser microphone is a staple. If you’re recording instruments or podcasts, you might also want a:
Dynamic mic (great for voiceovers, amps, or drums)
Small diaphragm condenser (ideal for acoustic guitars, overheads)
Essential Extras
To truly complete your studio, don’t overlook:
Cables: Invest in quality XLR and instrument cables to avoid unwanted noise. Mic stands: A sturdy stand keeps your mic in position for consistent takes. Pop filters: Reduce harsh “P” and “S” sounds in vocal recordings. MIDI controller: Helpful for writing music, especially with virtual instruments.
What Makes a Home Studio “the Best”?
There’s no single “best” home recording studio for everyone. The real key is choosing the right tools for the music you make and the space you’re working in.
A hip-hop producer might prioritize a powerful DAW and solid speakers for mixing beats. A singer-songwriter might focus on a great mic and acoustic treatment for clear vocals. A podcaster might need just a dynamic mic, an interface, and headphones.
A Smart Way to Build Your Studio
Putting together the best home recording studio isn’t just about picking gear with the best specs. It’s also about making sure everything works well together and fits your specific space and creative goals.
Sometimes it’s worth talking to people who work with this gear every day. They can help you choose equipment that matches your music style, troubleshoot any technical challenges, and even let you test things out before you commit.
Many musicians, artists & producers prefer sourcing their equipment from professional retailers, where expertise and quality gear go hand in hand.Plus, investing in reliable brands and getting solid advice upfront can save a lot of time—and money—down the road. It’s all part of making your studio a place where your creativity feels limitless.

Strings of Evolution: Embracing Modern Guitars for Timeless Sound
A Journey Through Sound and Self
From the first strum, a guitar does more than produce music—it begins a journey. For decades, the electric guitar has remained a powerful companion for artists across the globe. It has filled concert halls, captured emotions in recordings, and defined generations of musical identity. Its appeal lies not only in its sonic strength but also in its ability to mirror the personality of its player.
Now, as the music world evolves, so too do the instruments. Today, musicians aren't just seeking power and punch—they’re searching for range, flexibility, and authenticity. That’s where instruments like the Electro Acoustic Guitar and the electric guitar come into focus as modern icons in their own right.
The Rise of the Electro Acoustic Guitar
The Electro Acoustic Guitar is a hybrid marvel that bridges the gap between the organic warmth of traditional acoustics and the versatility of electronic amplification. Whether you’re performing in a quiet coffeehouse or a bustling stage venue, it delivers exceptional clarity and resonance with the added benefit of plug-and-play convenience.
This instrument is particularly favored by performers who shift between genres—acoustic pop, folk, fusion, and even soft rock. It allows artists to maintain the purity of an unplugged sound while adapting seamlessly to live and studio settings. For musicians who prioritize tonal control without sacrificing natural resonance, the Electro Acoustic Guitar is an invaluable companion.
Electric Guitars: The Soul of Modern Music
The electric guitar, on the other hand, is all about commanding attention. It gives musicians the power to sculpt sound in real time. Want a warm, bluesy tone? A high-gain metal distortion? A crisp indie-rock jangle? All are possible with the right settings and the right hands. This flexibility has kept the electric guitar at the heart of evolving genres—from classic rock and punk to modern alternative, electronic crossover, and cinematic compositions.
Electric guitars also offer endless customization—from pickups and tonewoods to pedals and amps—allowing players to carve out a signature sound. It's this ability to tailor every aspect of tone and feel that continues to make it a top choice for players of all levels.
Culture Meets Creativity
Around the world, guitars are more than instruments—they are part of local identity and artistic innovation. In Qatar, a new wave of musicians is embracing guitar culture in fresh and exciting ways. Artists are experimenting with both electric and Electro Acoustic Guitar sounds, combining global influences with regional roots to create truly original expressions.
This growing musical movement is fueled by access to global content, digital tools, and a supportive creative community. As interest in guitar-based music grows, so does the desire to explore, perform, and connect through the strings of these expressive instruments.
The First Step Is the Most Powerful
Choosing your first guitar—whether it’s a sleek electric or a responsive Electro Acoustic Guitar—is not just about gear; it’s about intention. It marks the beginning of a creative path that can lead to self-expression, performance, connection, and even personal transformation.
And the beauty is that there’s no right or wrong way to begin. Whether you're strumming basic chords or diving into complex solos, every moment spent with your guitar is a step forward. The instrument becomes more than wood and wire—it becomes a reflection of your story.
Final Thought
As music continues to transcend genres and cultures, instruments like the Electro Acoustic Guitar and electric guitar remain central to that journey. They offer clarity, power, emotion, and freedom—all in one package. And for aspiring and experienced musicians alike, there’s no better time to unlock creativity with the timeless magic of an Electric Guitar in Qatar.
