I'm not surprised too much but it's gotta be Kurt Elling's cover of King Crimson's "Matte Kudasai". I mean, yes I did listen to it quite a bit but I didn't think I listened to it that much? It's a jazz cover--well, like a smooth jazz cover, but like, a good smooth jazz cover (His cover of Stevie Wonder's "Golden Lady" from the same album is.... less so lmao). Man's got a beautiful voice. And... I may or may not have fantasized about a certain Bruce Greenwood covering this song in the same vein. 👀👀 Because I'm unhinged.

The one thing I really hope we get to see in the next Spiderverse movie is Miles' intelligence. We know he's super smart- that's been apparent from day one! He got into Vision academy on his own merit, and once he figures out how to manage the pressure he excells there. The kid is only a sophomore and already has plans to study Quantim Physics at Yale!! And I'm not saying he hasn't shown off his intelligence before- he's clearly adaptable and clever in a fight, and can problem solve on the fly. But I want to see him really flex his genius muscles-- do some crazy physics shit, build a cool invention (maybe his own interdimensional transport bracelet!). Give him his moment to shine.

What are you studying owo

Short answer: my program is material science and engineering (MSE)

Short PhD description: magnetic, thin film, ceramic materials (think the interior of your hard drive but it's metal+oxygen instead of just metal)

Detail for any other MSE nerds: I use pulsed laser deposition (PLD) which is a physical vapor deposition technique to co-deposit two materials at once (an example being CoFe2O4 and CeO2 [not a material system I'm currently studying, not trying to dox myself here]) into a specific microstructure (not naming because my group publishes the majority of work on it, and again, not doxing myself). This microstructure allows me to combine the properties of the materials while keeping them as separate phases. I then get to do a lot of characterization techniques like x-ray diffraction and magnetometry stuff (Quantim Design MPMS 3 if you're interested). I'm also currently learning how to perform ferromagnetic resonance (more magnetism measurements) and to take good transition electron microscope images.
