Biblically accurate Quill Kipps

One thing I loved about Lockwood and Co. is just. The girls are pro brute force and the guys are all about proper technique. (Not all girls and not all guys but like, yeah).

Like it's Lockwood and Kipps that are finicky about proper stances and rapier technique (and iirc they both fenced (and Flo kicked their butts cause she's a legend)) and then there's Lucy and Kat who are just like "Look at that conveniently placed heavy object. Imma hit someone with that."

And it's great to me because I feel like in most works of fiction girls have to have exceptional technique and training to be on par with guys in fights, and then Stroud just flips the script. It's great. As a girl I appreciate other brute force girls.

One day Lucy finds Lockwood’s favourite childhood cuddly toy in the attic. Its a well loved fluffy blue whale and Lucy is obsessed and starts bringing it with them on jobs as an 'official' mascot. And Lockwood is not happy about it until Kipps mocks the whale and the Lockwood tells everyone that he and his team are promoting saving the whales with their mascot and how dare a Fittes agent mock such a good cause.

Quill kipps book three core like i KNOW he’s the annoying rude rival but also i love him. like he’s a dick and not a nice person but he’s also grieving and caught up in bureaucracy and he is terrified all the time and he’s responsible for a bunch of kid’s lives and he’s only just stopped being a kid himself and he used to be able to do something about his terror and used to be able to fight back against it but now he just knows it’s there and he’s helpless and the only thing he can do is send kids in to die and he used to be important and now he’s clinging to that importance by the skin of his teeth
