Consider the way we live. We dash through days as if we were racing to pass a moving finish line. We arrive late to meetings, to events, even to the quiet moments that require nothing more than our attention. We've exchanged presence for productivity, and patience for panic.
When Clocks Took Over Our Lives The modern clock is a relatively recent invention. The calendar, too, is a human imposition. These tools were designed to help us coordinate, but now they command us. Our lives are ruled by timers, alarms, and endless notifications.
