it's taken me a while, but finally, on Independent Bookstore Day, i went and found Rook And Rose because of seeing you enjoy it so much on tumblr. Thanks for the rec and I hope they make me as feral as they made you

Listen, on the hopefully distant day that this hellsite goes under for the last time, I shall stand proudly on the sinking ship and announce that my greatest Tumblr legacy was dragging so many people into this tiny, tiny fandom. Salute my skills, salute my dedication, salute the fact that people still regularly come into my inbox to inform me that my yelling finally convinced them to pick up R&R, even though it's been almost two years since I really, howlingly lost my mind over Labyrinth's Heart (in August 2023). I think people who like the Renegades trilogy will also like the Rook and Rose Trilogy. the main character is trying to infiltrate an elite group by pretending to be one of them mostly for personal gain but also to help those below her. she takes on multiple identities and has a tight group who knows the truth. she has to work with people who she disagrees with about how things should be run while hiding her true feelings. she wonders about the identity of a mysterious do-gooder. another main character *********************************

Not me. Going fuckit and scrapping the city in my D&D Adventure Path for Nadezra because it fits better in my head. And hey. A little Eldritch God summoning in my delta city? Not too far from the truth!

I am so grateful for the wiki being live now. I could not have pulled all the info I needed for the city together for my players without it.

I've been threatening to do a Rook & Rose version of that one Twelfth Night production photo for a while now... so guess what I stayed up waaaaay too late last night, finishing!

I read the most wonderful trilogy I’ve ever touched; best book in the world, perfect to my taste like it’s written just for me

Took a look at fandom for the books, maybe trying to find some good stuff about it. Yknow. Fandom stuff.

There’s like five people talking about the series. (Understandably, I’ve only found it by chance too. It’s not very known.)

But every single person ignores that one of the main characters is canonically aro and ships him with the other two main characters. Even though it’s very much in text stated that he’s not interested in relationships. Like, that was made very clear from multiple perspectives and everyone involved respects that.

…I’ll just never go into fandom spaces ever again. Poor Vargo. Fandom is destroying this man more than his childhood did tbh.

Anyway if you’re into fantasy with morally gray characters, some found family and a slow-starting but extremely escalating plot, with a non-partnering AroAllo main character (only one of three, the other two aren’t aspec but honestly as an aro person the romance was written so good too), consider reading the Rook and Rose Series by M.A. Carrick. I wanna talk about it so bad but my sister won’t read them and no one knows this book.

I love this trilogy. Favourite books rn fighting with Iron Widow in my head, though Iron Widow still has a chance to win with the sequel lol. (But Vargo will forever and always be my favourite character of all time.)
