Windslar Palace Part 2: James IV Courtyard
The King James IV Courtyard remains the oldest surviving section of Windslar Palace, its origins tracing back to the early 16th century. It stands on the site of the original royal residence, first constructed by King William I in 1483, a fortified structure encircled by defensive walls with a central stone keep. During the 1590s, King James IV of Windenburg ordered the demolition of this medieval stronghold, commissioning its replacement in the Renaissance style. The transformation of the palace was largely directed by his formidable consort, Anne of Wiltshire, whose influence over the palace would shape it forever.
A central figure during the reigns of both her husband, James IV, and their son Charles I, Anne of Wiltshire was widely regarded as the true power behind the throne. Under her influence, Windslar was transformed into the principal seat of royal power. She hired a team of renowned Tartosan architects to work on the palace's interiors, most notably the Ballroom, originally adorned with intricate frescoes that were later replaced with wooden paneling and tapestries in the 1680s. For centuries, the Ballroom has served as the stage for courtly life, host to grand weddings, state banquets, diplomatic receptions, and galas.
Anne’s patronage of the arts also extended to sculpture. She commissioned Giuseppe Meucci, a celebrated Tartosan sculptor, to design the Marble Hall, intended to showcase her extensive collection of classical statues. A space of ceremonial importance, the Marble Hall has served various roles as a throne room, reception chamber, and matrimonial venue. Most notably, Princess Odette, daughter of Queen Mary II, wed Crown Prince Amadeus of Tartosa in the Marble Hall in 1840.
The King’s and Queen’s Bedchambers, once modestly decorated with frescoes and minimal furnishings, underwent significant enhancements over time. King James VI and his consort, Caroline of Mannheim, transformed the chambers, commissioning elaborate ceilings portraying Jupiter in the King’s suite and Juno in the Queen’s. The matching beds, still preserved today, are original to their reign. The last monarch to reside in this wing was Queen Matilda II, who made the King’s Bedchamber her private quarters and initiated the 1702 redesign of the Privy Council Chamber, a space that remains largely unchanged to this day.
With Queen Matilda II’s death and the extinction of the House of Dunkeld’s male line, the Windenburgian Succession War resulted in her distant cousin, the Prince of Wittenburg, ascending the throne as King Joseph III. Joseph III showed little interest in Windslar Palace, only modifying the gardens for his wife, Wilhelmina of Platz.
His son, King Joseph IV, brought new life to the palace in the 1730s, constructing an entirely new wing and vacating the royal apartments in the James IV section, which were thereafter relegated to ceremonial use. These apartments were subsequently offered as suites for visiting foreign royals and dignitaries. Many furnishings from Queen Matilda II’s era remain intact.
In a later effort to integrate the palace’s evolving layout, King Edmund VIII, son of Joseph IV, commissioned the construction of the Apollo Gallery, a magnificent corridor linking the James VI Apartments with the newer Joseph IV Wing. Adorned with mythological ceiling frescoes depicting the god Apollo, the gallery also serves as a portrait gallery, displaying official portraits of every monarch from 1640 to 1885.

Thank you, I'm going to go with Jean:
English isn't her first language, she grew up speaking Korean to her mother. She grew up in an area with a very concentrated East Asian community, so she could go days before speaking a word of English.
She was an only child in a single-parent household. She's always dreamt of having a large family with cousins, siblings, aunts and uncles. The one thing that's upset her the most is that she's been rejected by her new, potential family.
She wanted to be a nurse in high school, but quickly let that dream go once she realized it would require her to take math and science all throughout high school and college.
She has a collection of hand-painted Bisque dolls. The earliest of which belonged to her mother. Phillip thinks they're creepy.
She is not a snow person, no sir. She prefers the warmth of Santa Ana, Alexandria—her home city. One of her biggest arguments with Phillip is living somewhere with weather that doesn't make her miserable.

Let's go with Theo!
Theo is an only child, but she has two cousins, Deon and Tasha, who are close to her in age. The three were essentially raised together as siblings and have a lively group chat.
She'd downplay it if you asked her, but Theo is relatively superstitious. She visited the fortune-teller in Uspana, and whatever she heard was persuasive enough that she factored it into her decision to break things off with her boyfriend. I don't think she's fully into horoscopes and crystal healing, but I think people expecting her to be fully rational and lawyerly would be surprised by her receptivity to things like saging and fortune-telling.
Theo's aunt Gloria owns a bakery and a family restaurant. Theo wanted to work at the restaurant in high school because the tips were better, but her parents and aunt didn't want her serving alcohol or working past 8PM on school nights.
Her first loves were art and photography, but after her mother's death, she set those interests aside and decided that she wanted to go to law school to fulfill her mother's ambitions.
Theo's favorite colors are pink, orange, and yellow. She likes bright, sherbert-y shades of all three, but her favorite color is salmon.

we're back to the sims 4! it's a request-turned-collaboration, which I am pretty happy about, because it was fun.
I am the author of the mesh (9030 polys) and... only 3 swatches. sorry for breaking the immersion, but take a better look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@denerdnr is the author of the idea, the beautiful screenshots and 14 sets of recolors, some of which are featured below (except the two on the last screenshot, these are mine).

known issues (as always):
some distortion of the central part while moving (you can see that on the CAS screenshot) - can't seem to fix that
this stray polygon I can't get rid of >:( only really visible with the selection outline or if you look very closely on SOME movements, but argh
Tumblr media
this mesh has transparent parts and naturally won't look that good if you have transparency turned off. the download links are below, enjoy! ❤️

The Royal Family (1767)
This posthumous painting was painted in 1767 after the tragic death of King Edmund IX. When Edmund died, Queen Odette was pregnant with their last child, Princess Amelia, who is being held in the painting by her mother. Odette and Edmund cherished their time with their family and cultivated the image of a perfect family throughout his reign. Odette was viewed as a mother of the nation, an image which would continue to grow after the death of her husband with her proclamation as regent to their young son, George I. Odette was an attentive and loving mother to her children, but became a fierce politician. During her son's reign, Odette was widely regarded as the true power behind the throne. Her inexperienced son was too focused on high society and his circle of friends, even after the regency ended. Odette had a close relationship with all of her children, but especially her eldest sons, George and Edmund. George and Edmund shared a rivalry with one another, mostly based on the fact that George had resented the throne while Edmund yearned for it. George's wife, Josephine of Corrilea (@theroyalsofcorrilea), was a frivolous spender who detested the etiquette of court life. Josephine's scandals overshadowed George's reign and caused their marriage to break down rapidly. After the death of George and Josephine's only daughter, Princess Margaret, in 1794, a succession crisis emerged. None of Odette's other sons had living children, and it became increasingly likely that the thrones of Windenburg & San Myshuno could pass to her daughter, Elliana, who had married a foreign king. Elliana was beautiful and kind, but also intelligent and calculating. She had raised her children in Windenburg in the hopes that they could someday inherit the throne, but when her husband unexpectedly inherited the throne of Esha (@crownsofesha), she was forced to leave her country. Odette quickly arranged the marriages of her sons, Octavius and Frederick. Octavius was hastily married to Princess Karoline of Kraneberg (@simming-in-the-rain), while Frederick was married to Princess Christina Amalia of Dresden. Octavius and Frederick entered wildly unhappy marriages, which they blamed on Odette. Octavius was a gambler and enjoyed entertaining at his residence in Windenburg, Hertford Castle, while Karoline was deeply religious and disapproved of her husband's behavior. Frederick and Christina suffered through multiple miscarriages, which drove the couple apart, until the birth of their daughter, Charlotte, in 1803. However, Christina's sudden death two years later would forever haunt Frederick. Odette's daughter, Elizabeth, was extremely popular at court and was known for her wit and humor. Elizabeth attracted many suitors, but never married as she never wanted to leave her mother's side. It was rumored that Elizabeth and her brother Edmund's wife, Princess Augusta, had an affair between 1785-1798. The pair wrote many passionate letters and were almost always in each other's company. Augusta's final miscarriage in 1798 drove the couple apart, and her death later that year destroyed Elizabeth. Odette's beloved youngest daughter, Amelia, was one of the greatest joys of her life. Perhaps her favorite child, Odette, spent much more time with Amelia than her other children. Odette was overcompensating for the fact that Amelia had never known her father. Odette always wanted Amelia to stay with her and Elizabeth in Windenburg; however, George arranged the marriage of Amelia to King Edaric I of Trenton (@trentonsimblr). Amelia and Edaric had met during their courtship and fell in love with one another. Amelia was the only one of her siblings to have a happy marriage. Although the family would never see Amelia ever again, Odette kept a lengthy correspondence with her and had immense influence on her life.

Note
8, 14, 16
8. what about your story are you proud of?
My story reflects a lot of growth as a writer! I'm proud of how far I've come and proud that I've been able to work consistently on one project for so long.
14. do you have any regrets about your story so far? if you could go back in time, how would you fix these?
Yes, definitely, especially around chapter 1! I feel like it's not bad overall, but there's a lot of little things that don't quite work. I wish I'd taken more time with Andre's illness arc. I was floundering a bit with both Jacques and Vivi as characters, so I'd like to go back and smooth things over to make things a bit more consistent.
16. what about the process do you enjoy?
I love the moments of discovery, when I'm walking or reading or working on something else and a new idea comes up that fits perfectly into what I've already got and just enhances the story.

🌸 Unique "TagValueNumbers" - Part 2 🎁 For my "CAS Filters" mod! (Patreon)
Tumblr appears to have a limit for how many users I can @ in a post, but I would like to @ everyone on Tumblr when I create filters for them, as a way to notify you about what I'm doing and so simmers who see this post can find you easily.
I might come off as an egomaniacal arsehole at times (always for good reason), but it's because I care about our community.
I opted to not re-blog the Tumblr OP linked above because it is subject to lots of changes and Tumblr doesn't update the "preview" of re-blogged posts, HOWEVER, you're more than welcomed to re-blog the Tumblr OP and/or this post.
🌸 A UNIQUE 9-DIGIT "ID" FOR EVERYONE:
The 9-digit numbers following your name are to be used in the "TagValueNumber" field for the "SpecialContent" TAG.
Each 9-digit "ID" is unique to the creator it was made for - it is based on your creator name. I made them using a slightly convoluted system I devised in order to ensure that every "ID" is unique and that the filter list in CAS maintains some semblance of alphabetical order. These "numbers"IDs" can potentially be used for other things, but we'll get to that later.
🎓 HOW IT DO, PIKACHU:
If you're well-versed in creating or modifying CAS content, all you need to do is add a new TAG to your swatches - you can do just the first swatch, but you should do all swatches - and change the "CategoryNumber" to "127" (without the quotes), and change the "TagValueNumber" to the desired 9-digit "ID".
For everyone else who is new to this, there are detailed instructions in the form of easy to follow screenshots attached to the Tumblr OP and the Patreon OP, with further text-based instructions in the Patreon OP.
Individual JSON files for Sims 4 Studio for each filter TAG are also available, to make the process of adding these TAGS easier.
⚠️ BE ADVISED - TWO (2) "IDS" WERE CHANGED:
