a/n: hello again! this was produced at 2am when i indeed couldn’t sleep. also i had some very good milk tea today, i’m completely obsessed with it atm. i hope you guys enjoy this little fluffy slightly angsty fic :D goodnight!

You sat on the deck of the Going Merry, watching the seemingly endless dark sea bleed into a night sky freckled by millions of stars. It was a quiet night but your mind was anything but quiet.

You hadn’t been able to fall asleep and after hours of tossing and turning you had gotten up and decided to start your lookout shift early. Tears started forming in your eyes as you watched small waves on the water forming and breaking, your thoughts crashing louder and louder.

You pulled your tshirt tighter around yourself, feeling a shiver running down your body. You hadn’t realized how cold it had gotten. When all of the sudden, you heard the cabin door open.

“y/n?”

It was Sanji, his voice still laced with sleep.

You turned your head, feeling caught in your vulnerable moment.

“Sanji- I hope I didn’t wake you.”

you muttered.

“No no, I was up anyway. Are you okay?”

he asked, a look of worry forming in his eyes.

As you tried to answer, your voice began to crack. All you could get out was a small

“couldn’t sleep”.

Slightly embarrassed, you turned around again, hoping he would just go away.

Silence. After what felt like an eternity, you heard the cabin door open and then close. So Sanji had left you alone to your thoughts again.

As you resumed your thought process, tears now falling freely, you suddenly heard the door open again and footsteps coming towards you.

A strange warmth suddenly embraced your body as a blanket was wrapped around you. Sanji placed a cup of what smelled like chamomile tea next to you and stood up, looking out towards the sea. Softly, he said:

”I won’t pry y/n. But just know, I am here for you. All night, if I have to.”

And with that, he put a warm hand on your shoulder, lingering, as if he was debating if he should leave you or stay.

You lifted your head, unable to speak but your eyes were saying enough.

“Stay.”
