man, but like.... why is there a contingent of jiang cheng stans who are incapable of stanning their special guy (totally justifiably! i support you!!) without shitting on jin guangyao in the process? why are these fans capable of doing deep narrative dives to understand and contextualize jiang cheng's justifiable actions re: wei wuxian and the wen remnants pre-timeskip, who write thoughtful screeds in defence of his feelings of anger and betrayal vis-a-vis the golden core reveal, but lose that capability entirely the second jin guangyao shows up?

is it because jin guangyao is mean to jiang cheng while trying to not get murdered as his whole life collapses around him? jiang cheng is a big boy, jin guangyao's carefully calculated spiel to provoke him during the guanyin temple confrontation doesn't even make the list of top ten most traumatic things to happen to him, he'll be fine.

My favorite kind of webtoons are webtoons that make the main character have the most overly exaggerated and evil looking facial expressions, making them look like an absolute dick, all for the sake of comedy.

Bonus points if the side characters are just standing there and questioning the main character while also being 100% okay with it. "Like yeah dude he's just going goblin mode for a bit, it happens."

Spoilers for ch 700+, I saw a bit of a spoilerish quote from ch 1000+ (im currently at like 870) and it sucker punched me so bad that I need to cry a little.

Ok so. Everyone who has gotten to that point in the novel has seen the guilt Chung Myung carries for fighting with his sahyung the second to last time they ever see eachother, the last being when they both died. That quote I saw was talking about how that sometimes, when he looks up, the sky looks the same as it did the day he threw insults at his sahyung. MEANING the fight about Chung Jin. Augh ough ouch. Horrible right? Teared up a little (a lot) when I read that. This is one of the things I really really like about the Return of the Mount Hua Sect. Things will ALWAYS be brought back up.

But god, just how much guilt does he carry over that fight? How much guilt and shame does he face, knowing that he spit such angry words at the man who basically raised him? Not being able to say sorry because the next time, the last time, he sees him is in that final battle. The last time he sees him, hole in his chest, bleeding, dead on the floor.

Imagine having that image as the last view of one of your most beloved people, cause the bond those two had can't possibly be simplified down.

Chung myung is a man torn apart by regret and built up by the desperate need to not allow any of this to happen again

there is something ironic about how ludger is always excused and rewarded for everything he does, including falling back into his old mindset and coming out with no character development, while casey will get criticized and nitpicked even when the situation is completely out of her control. no matter how much she tries and grows, she can never be enough, and if ludger happens to fail while being with her, it would solely be her fault.

honest to god i love watching bg3 discourse so much

i only really have an issue when we start throwing around character alignments and their inherent morality cause like the characters do have alignments thats how dnd works and bg3 is just dnd in video game, it has the mechanics even when its not obvious

like minthara now being recruitable w/o burning the grove is a disservice to that imo. but enough ppl wanted her without wanting to be 'evil' so. but it makes ppl able to compare like her and asta as which is 'more evil' like thats not how this works. they are still dnd characters and their 'level of badness' is just a personification of their alignment. some ppl feel chaotic characters are worse than neutral or lawful characters no matter their 'good' 'neutral' or 'evil' status

also pls guys dnd is not exactly a very progressive game, of course a neutral character supporting slavery isnt enough for them to be evil. the entire drow race is rooted in racism. you literally constantly get comments in game depending on the race you play.
