However, earlier versions of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) had a vulnerability that could allow unauthorized access through a man-in-the-middle attack. Ensure that you are running the latest versions of the client and server software to benefit from these security updates. Additionally, make sure any Remote Desktop clients on other platforms are still supported and updated, as outdated versions may have security vulnerabilities.

Restrict access using firewalls: Utilize firewalls, both software and hardware, to restrict access to the Remote Desktop listening ports. By default, the Remote Desktop port is TCP 3389.
