You're curled up in a fetal position on the couch, head resting on your knees, eyes closed, cramps hitting you in waves as you fight back the building tears. Yudai only got home a few minutes ago, but he's already sitting with you and rubbing your back. It's slow and calming, a simple distraction from the pain. But it's not enough, not really.

He has half his attention on you—still on the phone with his manager about some scheduling conflict. You hate to interrupt his work, even if he's supposed to be off hours now. But you need him. Need him to hug you tight, need him to whisper in your ear that the worst of the pain will be over soon and he wishes he could take it all away from you, need him to kiss you till you forget about everything else. But, even though you want it so badly, you'll be patient. Somehow, interrupting him still feels worse than the thrumming pain.

Yudai is impatient for this phone call to finish. It's stupid, really, and an issue that does not need even an ounce of his attention to get resolved. Off work hours are supposed to be down-time, precious moments with you that he doesn't get enough of. He works a lot, and balancing a relationship on top of it all is overwhelming at times. But he's never doubted you, or your ability to make things work despite his busy schedule. You're it for him. He'd choose you in a room of a million people. He would follow you to the farthest corners of the Earth. And in a few months, he knows that he'll be looking at the ring on your finger with a lovesick smile knowing you agreed to be with him forever.

Yudai wants to give the world to you, but you would never ask him to.

You're selfless, and sometimes, it frustrates your boyfriend. It's unfair that he can't give you as much time and attention as he wants, or as much as you deserve. You always say that it's more than enough for you, that being with him is all you need. But Yudai thinks otherwise.

He's caring and thoughtful and full of affection for you, but sometimes, Yudai thinks he doesn't give you enough attention. And it bothers him like an itch that won't go away—how unfair the situation is. After hours of not seeing him on a day where your cramps have not left you alone for even a second, he's still stuck on the phone.

Yudai has half a mind to hang up on his manager, silence all notifications, and finally be able to give you the full comfort you need. But he knows he'd get an earful for it the next day, and you would be horrified at the decision. You hate "getting in the way" of his work much more than you hate distance between you, and you've told him enough times that the thought is always stuck in his head. He hates that you think like that. What bothers him more is that he knows you would already be in his arms without hesitation if he wasn't still busy with work-related things.

"Book it on my day off—that's fine. I understand that it's an important brand deal, just, do we really have to discuss this right now?" Yudai mutters. You can hear the annoyance in his tone. Yudai doesn't even care if his manager picks up on it too—anything to get off this stupid phone call. After some more pushing, he finally hangs up.

"I'm sorry about that. I don't know why he's calling me so late. He should've just texted," Yudai sighs.

You lift your head from your curled up position, eyes meeting Yudai's. He mirrors your pout and pulls you fully into his arms without another word. He knows what you want right now. He's done this enough times to read you with a single glance—been with you through all the painful moments to know how to apply the bandages.

He doesn't think of it as a burden or a hassle, but more of a privilege. You think he's insane for it—acting as if it's his duty to be your personal butler on your period—but Yudai won't have it any other way. In his mind, it is his duty. He gets to be the one to hug you tightly and ward off your pain. Him, out of all people. He's the one you go to for comfort in the most vulnerable times. He's proud of it. You, who hate to be a bother so much, know that you can take up space around your boyfriend.

It wasn't always like this. Yudai still remembers the times when you were too embarrassed to complain about the pain, even when it was something as natural as period cramps. He holds you even tighter at the thought, pressing a little on your lower stomach, right where it hurts the most. You whimper a little and curl into him more. He kisses the top of your head.

"Did you eat dinner? Craving anything? I can order something to be delivered," Yudai offers with a kiss to your lips.

"Something spicy. And some chocolate?"

Your boyfriend has it done within the next minute. You're not even sure how he keeps track of all the food delivery apps on his phone. He seems to have one for every cuisine on the planet. Yudai has always been a big foodie, and he usually tries your period cravings with you. They are never too outlandish, but he does like to slip jokes about what your future pregnancy cravings might be, making sure you know that he will also try those without hesitation.

Those comments always make you blush when they slip out. Starting a family with Yudai is… a decision for farther in the future. You both want it. It's always been a matter of when not if, but neither of you are fully ready for that responsibility yet. You let your mind wander a bit further down that road. With the way Yudai is holding you tightly and pressing kisses to every inch of skin he can get his hands on, you can only imagine how loving he will be to his future kids. How worried he'll get if they ever got sick. How protective he'll be of them…

You shake the thoughts off before they have a chance to bring your tears back for a different reason. The image of your boyfriend as a dad is too much for your mood swings to handle, so instead, you focus yourself on something else. Yudai's lips are soft and plush as they graze the skin of your neck and then a bit lower. He's taking his time mapping out the dips and curves of your collarbones, but you want something else. You tug gently on the collar of his shirt. The action is more than enough for him to know what you want.

His lips tangle with yours faster than you can blink, and at last, you have what you wanted.
