Hard to pick just one but...

For Sophie: cutting of an entire finger just to prove to an old woman she wasn't an alien in disguise (a piece of hair would've been enough)

For Jane: hiding a science project (a whole entire illegally acquired alien corpse) under her bed (or in the closet?)
