That's how you managed to survive this long. In a world so hellbent on destruction, you took the cynics way out and managed to save time on the ride. Things were fucked, hope somehow managed to become a commodity the wealthy could profit off of. And mutants were enemy number one without actually being hunted for fun.

So you took note of the way your breath hung in the air—the flavor of bitter cheap red wine like a pungent toxin that only sunk you deeper onto the silver claws of fate that promised protection. Even as they offered exposure to the elements. You watched as his eyelids grew heavy, his gaze fixed on the way your top gaped and fingers gripped onto the soft leather of his jacket.

You expected this to go wrong too.

That your words would fall on deaf ears, that you would fumble as he slid a hand between your denim clad thighs. How long would it take for him to jolt back to reality? To understand that you were far too much for him to handle as the world fell on his shoulders.

How long could you get away with feeling wanted, yearned for?

When your fingers clawed at the leather seats in the back, your mouth open and chapped from the cold, is when you stopped. Thoughts slipped past the inner psyche of despondent reality. Hope washed over your spit covered shoulders as he bit down on the plush skin with a grunt. Life appeared bright and hot and burned with something new the second he plunged into your sopping cunt.

"That's it," he muttered, lips catching the shell of your ear as his cock carved a new path in your once aching body. "Open up for me baby."

Your words escaped as a mewl. Eyes rolling back and nails digging new shapes into seats he'd have to fix.

Dream blinked his eyes open slowly. He didn’t know what time it was, but his body told him it was too early to be awake. He willed himself to roll over to go back to sleep but he did nothing more than wiggle a little, seemingly stuck to the bed on his back spreadeagled.

Realizing that he couldn’t move was the kick he needed to gain full clarity. Dream pulled at his wrists but they didn’t move. He lifted his head to look down at his ankles, but his eyes found something much worse.

A tall shadowy blob with purple catlike eyes towered over him from the foot of his bed. Tentacles squirmed over the walls and ceiling— Dream couldn’t tell if they were shadows or not.

“Good morning sleepyhead,” the creature purred.

“Who— wh-what are you..?” Dream stuttered.

“I am the new tenant under your bed. I was just creeping out for a midnight snack, and it seems I’ve found one.”

Dream didn’t like the sound of that.

“Wha-what do you mean t-teNAT—!!” The blonde man squealed and squirmed upon feeling a curious flick from one of the figure’s tentacles against his side.

“Sensitive one aren’t we~?” The creature cooed. “I’m gonna have fun with you~”

More tendrils slithered closer to Dream’s body, stretched out and vulnerable as if he were served up on a silver platter to this monstrosity that seemed to only want to tickle him.

“Wahait wait wait hahang on a sehehECOND—!” Dream shrieked upon feeling dozens of tentacles begin tickling him all at once. He had no idea what was going on or how any of this was possible for that matter, all he could focus on were the velvety wiggling arms that tickled so terribly.

“Does someone have a ticklish tummy~?” The tickle monster teased deviously, a few arms pausing their attack to lift Dream’s tank top and expose his warm skin.

“Ohohohoh gohohohohod plehehehease!! Whahahahat dohohoho yohohohou wahahahahant?!” The blonde man begged between wheezes and squeaks of hysterical laughter. He felt the tip of a tentacle tease the edge of his bellybutton. “FUHUHUHUCK NOHOHOT THEHEHERE!!!”

“Nawww, blondie’s got a tickly tum button does he~?” The shadow taunted excitedly. “Your laughter is much sweeter here, I think I’ll explore that further.”

The dreaded tentacle dipped into Dream’s navel and wriggled around wildly, throwing the poor man into silent shuddering cackles. The torture on his poor belly button was accompanied by several more tendrils teasing his belly and sides, as well as a few wiggling under his shorts to tickle his thighs and into his armpits.

Dream felt like he was losing his mind. It tickled so bad that he simply went limp and laughed. He squeezed his eyes shut and squeals and shrieks wracked his nerves— he was going to die.

And then as soon as it started it stopped. The tickle monster may have said something before it slinked back under the blonde’s bed but Dream couldn’t care. His body still buzzed with the worst residual tickles and all he could do was lay there and let them pass. Somehow in that time he managed to slip back to sleep, exhausted from the intense tickle torture he’d received.

The next time Dream opened his eyes sunlight streamed through the blinds and he shielded himself from the prying light. He rolled over to pick up his phone to check the time, jumping at the small spark of tickly energy that ran down his whole left side as it brushed against the bed.

He squeaked softly and his hand dropped to rub away the effect, his own fingers brushing his bare skin only serving to worsen the feeling.

The memories of the sudden tickle attack in the middle of the night came rushing back to Dream all at once then and he shivered. Was all that real? His shirt was pushed way up and he was super sensitive, but the shirt could be explained away by midnight squirming. As for the sensitivity he had no clue.

After Dream changed into less smelly clothes (seemed he’d sweated a lot that night, odd) he trudged down to the kitchen to find George and Sapnap already awake.

“Good morning sleepyhead,” George greeted. The words sent a chill through Dream’s spine.

“Morning,” he mumbled shyly, his cheeks glowing a faint red as he busied himself with making a bowl of cereal.

“You feeling okay Dream?” Sapnap asked as he set his phone down.

“Hm? Yeah I’m fine,” the blonde answered, wincing at the nervous voice crack that squeaked out of him.

Sapnap stood and walked over to him, placing the back of his hand on Dream’s forehead and cheeks. “You look flushed, are you feeling hot?”

“Sap, I’m fine. Thank you though.” Dream leaned into the younger’s hand gratefully. “Just had a rough night.”

“I heard you giggling in your room late last night,” George spoke up for the first time since greeting Dream, now sitting on the counter sipping a cup of orange juice.

Dream went rigid and chuckled nervously. “D-did you?”

“Yeah. Got up for a midnight snack and heard you giggling your head off,” the brunette explained with a forced neutral face. “What were you giggling at, hm?”

If Dream hadn’t been so caught off guard by George’s sudden input he would’ve probably realized that George could tell something was off with his best friend. However, the blonde’s brain was buzzing chaotically and he couldn’t get his thoughts straight.

“Dream?” Sapnap spoke, his voice still laced with concern.

“What..?”

“You didn’t answer me. What were you giggling at?” George pressed, crossing his arms over his chest impatiently.

“I—“ Dream sighed, rubbing his hand over his face. “I had a really weird vivid dream last night… I think it was a dream at least.”

George and Sapnap shared a look before leading the blonde man to the living room couch and squishing him between them, comforting Dream as he explained his dream embarrassedly.

“That’s pretty wild,” Sapnap said at the end of Dream’s story, his cheeks tinted a slight pink.

“But it was just a dream, yeah? So it’s alright, it’s not real.” George added before squeezing Dream tighter and scratching comfortingly at his curls.

The blonde furrowed his brows in thought, still relaxing a bit from the older’s hand in his hair. “But it felt so… real. It was so bad.”

“Dream, you don’t have a tickle monster under your bed.” George stated firmly, warm brown eyes staring into bright green. “It was just a dream.”

The blonde blinked and looked away. He then nodded and leaned back into George. “Right… just a dream.”

I FINALLY SAW WISH!!!! 😁😁😁

And I have some notes (gonna keep this to ten for the sake of length):

The queen was the best character we stan an awesome Disney queen I was getting some major Queen Arianna from Tangled: the Series vibes and was loving it.

2. 'This Wish' was as awesome a song as I'd hoped.

3. The rest....uh....hm. They were...nice. Just...not what I was hoping? (I miss Broadway-style 😞)

4. Oh gosh 'At All Costs.' How could an entire freakin' studio's worth of people watch that and have not one of them, not a single one, go "This is 100% not the tone we want they sound like they're gonna kiss." The confluence of emotions I felt watching that can not be described beyond "if I heard this for the first time without seeing the visuals I...would be drawing some interesting conclusions." And the worst part, it really is a beautiful song...in the intended romantic context. Seriously, I have watched some fan animatics of Asha and Star Boy singing this as intended and got the right kind of feels. Big mistake on Disney's part keeping it in sans the romance.

5. And on that note, the Star Boy should have been kept and he should have been Asha's love interest. Seriously, it would have been perfect. I've really missed having Disney romances and would have absolutely devoured an Asha/Star Boy storyline.

6. I also felt there were some really interesting plot threads left dangling that really should have been pulled for all they were worth. Yes, the story they had would have unraveled faster than that pair of long johns, but what they could weave in its place! *wistful sigh*

7. For instance: Sleepy-stand-in being all tired and 'blah' after losing his Wish. Great opportunity right here: giving up your wish means giving up your spark, your fire, your zest for life, that thing that makes living living. The result is a Stepford kingdom, where the docile populace suffer from chronic ennui and everything looks perfect on top, but when you dig a little deeper, you see that yikes, this place is messed up.

8. Also: King Magnifico should have been thrown off his tower. End of discussion. (it's tradition!!!)

9. The animation was pretty and all, but anyone else think the crew was *really* limited by it? I mean, they did the Cinderella dress transformation...without changing Asha's dress, presumably because they didn't have time/resources/ability to create another model in a different outfit. Again, it was pretty, but maybe....maybe they should do some more tinkering before using it for a feature again.

10. I know what they were going for with the whole 'she called down a star because we're all made of stardust' bit, but personally, I would have thought it would have been much more meaningful if her dad, the philosopher who was always talking about the stars, sent it to her. Would have been way more touching and ushered in a nice storyline about her relationship with her dad.

And one more for the road!

This Week In "Time & Again" #9: LINEART IS DONE!!! And My Adventures With Krita Assistants! [Longread warning]

First things first! It took me a while (again) to make yet another one post, but taking a small social hiatus was totally and utterly worth it, let me tell you!!! Because here's the news:

THE LINEART FOR CHAPTER 5 IS COMPLETELY DONE!!! Yaaaaaay!!! 🥳

(happy cheering, happy music playing (my personal favourite is Skinny Puppy - very happy indeed), sounds of jolly hand clapping, and a cake, somebody please bring in the cake!.. wait... the cake is a lie... 😱 hmmm, every time I refer to this joke, I want to alter it and say, "A pie is a lie, but the cake is fake!" Personally, makes me happy, but also makes me sound a bit like Mad Hatter to everyone around😅 which is fine, I love "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland")

Not gonna lie, it feels like I spend a little bit more time on lineart alone comparing to what I've been expecting from myself: different factors have contributed to the delay, and among of them was a short-term loss of a creative spark as well (which is always incredibly unpleasant, yaaarrrr!), but nonetheless! It is done!!! And let me tell you - it is done in style 😎 Ich bin sehr froh 🥳 However, contrary to what I've just written above simply for fun, it's not time to celebrate just yet. I'll probably take a small 24 hour break from my project - to take a breather and recalibrate my brain to successfully switch to colouring mode, ya know - and I'll just keep working on it to keep up the pace! The Colouring Stage is waiting for me, wheeeeeee!!! ... Wait, but so happened I already had my 24 hours off drawing yesterday. 🤔 WELL, NO TIME TO SPARE NOW: BACK TO WORK!!!...

But only after I'm done writing this post, for I have a moral obligation to finish it up 😁

So, earlier I promised to share my experience with Krita Assistant Tool with you. This is going to be very technical, so prepare yourselves, happy folks. Here goes.

I've used Krita's Assistant Tool before. I started to use it quite extensively as the work on Chapter 2 began, for I had to represent strictly geometric shapes of rooms, and corridors, and even the whole floors, for almost the entire set of events was happening indoors. In a peculiar place. The entirety of Chapter 1 with the exception of, say, 2 or 3 panels at most, took place within Lothar's mansion in Sweden. That one also required quite a few geometric shapes, but for some reason I did well without any help of Assistant Tool - I don't remember for sure by now, but I only used it briefly for some panels/frames. And it did not require anything particularly complex then. Mind you, during the development of Chapter 1 I've been still learning my newly obtained graphic tablet - that was the first time I ever used one (and now I don't want to go back to neither mouse and keyboard drawing or a "blind" tablet - eff that! 🤣). In this respect, Chapter 2 was a game changer. I wanted to raise the plank further up and challenge myself to do even better with the perspectives of urban buildings and interiors. And since approximately that time, I believe, Assistant Tool has become a precious little helper for me. Thank you so much, Krita devs!

As you can see in the documentation, Assistant Tool has many features and different modes. I primarily use those tools to draw perfect - or almost perfect - urban perspectives, for those might be a bit tricky to do right off the bat. However, some of those tools might be used in a non-conventional or less expected ways. Let me show you some of my experiments with them.

Starting off with the basics, of course.

Above you can see the screenshot that illustrates how I used to normally set up the perspective assistant grid for the more correct view of a room - I've been doing that very thing beginning from Chapter 2. Basically I create a bunch of perspective grids and join them to create an imitated 3D view of a room. That really helps a lot.

I mentioned a certain video tutorial that really helped me out on my journey of meowstering - sorry, mastering the Assistant Tool in a way that's helpful to me. It was this incredibly helpful little video I watched trying to figure out how to build a one point perspective view for one of the panels I challenged myself to draw. However... I discovered something else instead: Parallel Rulers and an obvious "Snap To Assistants" function. Both of which are super helpful to use. I never paid attention to "snap to assistants" before. Now I wonder why 😅

Parallel Rulers help to draw totally straight lines when working on a perspective view - like the one that I was having a hard time dealing with when trying to portray an extremely skewed backstreet perspective. All of that is done without the use of the Line Tool.

While parallel rulers are something that I'm still learning and practising, the self-explanatory "snap to assistants" is an excellent function that just makes your life significantly easier.

I used a combination of Ellipse and Vanishing Point with "snap to assistants" function on to create spectacularly precise and nice looking sports wristwatch for Lothar. This is just how I love it: extremely geometric and correct, but with slight imperfections that make it lively and natural, with a visible hand-drawn "fluctation" to the outlines:

For example, here's a good comparison for you to see what I'm talking about: to the left it's a gif illustrating how I drew the wristwatch outlines with an Assistant with Ellipse setting that snaps to the assistants, and to the right there's a gif showing how to do the same (but way worse) simply using the separate Ellipse Tool using the same brush as an outline. Behold the difference:

For the record, I used the same neat trick to draw the nice lines around that "Hit!" special effect on another one page, to make it look cleaner and more professional:

Spline is yet another one type of assistant that might come in handy in certain situations, for some artists. In my case this time, I used it so add extra thickness to a certain line that has already been drawn to make it look more appealing and lively:

Thus, instead of trying numerous times to reproduce the same brush stroke (and inevitably failing at it repeatedly) to add just a little thickness to already existing stroke, one can simply draw a Spline "vector path" on top of it, turn "snap to assistants" on and draw a perfect, non-shaky line that doesn't stray somewhere you don't want to. Neat-o! If you're somewhat familiar with vector software (like I am), using Spline and making it exactly the shape you need is easy-peasy: it has two handles so that you could adjust the position and the curve of the assistant line. Works exactly as a basic Bezier Curve. Super simple!

That's gonna be enough for now. Since this post has grown fairly large in size (I never change, eh?), I'm thinking about taking a longer break in posting again. So I might return in about 2 weeks with more news on how the colouring of Chapter 5 is going!

I still don't know exactly what kind of angles the camera has, I can only imagine the ones on Titan hovering over the ocean outside the open areas--

But they follow like how League spectating works where it picks out to follow the most active/interesting location automatically.

Your own feed can also swap to a different camera. They've probably got letters for names and are indicated by dots on the map. Things like watching the points or heavy/special boxes, zooming in or out, pausing, probably even captures like in streams today are doable, depending on how you're watching.

(A prank amongst the fans is abruptly changing to somewhere boring, especially in the middle of interesting bits at gatherings)

I guess the cameras can be very very small, it hardly has to be Ghost-sized. Though inside ones could be mounted. Or the simulator I've headcanoned can see through the walls. 😁

I can think of a few standard locations on one map, I'm gonna get/make a diagram later.

The broadcast varies with the games, with the start-and-stop feel of modes like Rift, the drawn out Control, or the round-based Elimination matches, so there's probably things....

I am so fckn USian I can hardly imagine a world without commercials. I don't even know what anyone would be advertising.

PSAs, City news snippets, I can't decide if the commentators are Shaxx and Saint or if there's other Guardian or civilian ones. They discuss rules changes and the shifts in weapon and armor popularity. (They had just as just fun during The Craftening as the fighters did.)

In the absence of teams, score tracking on a match level is difficult and unnecessary for anyone that isn't gambling, but they do still cycle a scroller you can pull up which shows the score in the middle and the Guardians' names rolling along on their respective sides with their [e.g. points capped, longest streak, Sparks dunked] and K/D. It will cycle each match through three times on weekdays and twice on weekends.

We know that the civilians watch the crucible.

I started wondering what that looks like.

Cos we obviously see it from person to person, sometimes when we're dead we can follow behind an ally kind of thing, but what does the average civilian see?

It's easy to imagine that they get an overlay and an external view, but I'm not sure about likely camera placement. Drones, easy, but where? Probably some Guardian cams feeds, for specific moments, but those are likely too chaotic and unclear.

Overlay would likely contain a map of the entire arena, like our radar but with a little more detail and markers of Guardians, likely our emblems, maybe with numbers assigned for the match. The little X when we die, like on our radar.

Rise suggested things like the overlay on the ESPN football games, where they mark the down line and project sponsor logos and shit, so we could imagine Tex Mechanica or Omolon symbols cast on walls.

Things like highlights, replays, slow-mo recaps; those intro scenes and player stat screens. Deadliest Guardian, scored the most points, etc.,

Between matches, things like interviews or player profiles, screens showing our ELO with full career and seasonal stats.

Did wonder how much gore is standard. Like if they only show a cleaned up (not clean, but just less brain on the walls) version for civilian feeds. I know everyone has seen it, but still.

Or if there's an actual league with team lists and known players and how far that not-fandom would go, like with trading cards.

it’s a bigger full house with both your kids and the twins. Ever seen Kuroo worn out on the couch with kids? Priceless 😁

Osamu

you never had to babysit two very energetic toddlers at the same time, but Osamu ALMOST makes it look easy. You think he has some kind twin powers since he is a twin himself. Don’t be surprised if that sparks baby fever for him. It could be that you are curled up in his lap napping with two sleeping toddlers it’s enough to make his heart melt.

Mattsun man is made for this. Diaper changes no problem, keeping two energetic toddlers entertained until bath time. Professional. Still he’s worn out by bed time. Half way collapsing on you snoring.

Sakusa is completely out of his element but nevertheless he starts to warm up to the twins. Another one that gets hit with baby fever when he sees how you care for your twin niece n nephew. Yet he probably would hope to start out with one kid whenever y’all decide to starts family. He will be the diaper changer master forever.

Atsumu has perfect energy to match two toddlers. Especially when he finally home from work to help you out. He is able to get both kids fed and ready for bed at the same time with minimal chaos. Another one that get struck by the baby fever. Tells you that you’ll make a great mom while he carries your worn out self to bed.

Soft Sunday Babysitting Headcanons

With: Kuroo, Osamu, Mattsun, Sakusa, Atsumu

Thinking about this reminds me of when I’d have sleepovers with my cousins when I was little. The house is noisy, chaotic, and messy but oh so full of love and laughter. Kuroo keeps them occupied for the most part but you don’t hesitate to join in the fun every so often. By the end of the day you’re all wore out but full of happiness.

His brother may drive him crazy sometimes, but Osamu wouldn’t change his childhood for the world. Babysitting the twins brings back so many happy memories and it’s the same life he wants for you and him. He knows having kids is hard work and a big commitment, but he promises to stay by your side every step of the way and assures you it’ll be worth is.

The screaming, fighting, crying, and dirty diapers would be enough to try anyone’s patience but Mattsun seems to handle everything in stride. He just smirks when you give him a shocked look at how well he navigates each situation, but after all that work he’s gonna need some extra TLC at the end of the day.

Sakusa had learned pretty early on in your relationship that things that made you happy somehow made him happy as well. He’d overcome so many hurdles because of this that it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that seeing you laughing and playing with the twins would spark a need inside him to give you a family of your own. It was a scary thought, but one he found himself not so opposed to.

Atsumu has both the energy and inner child to keep up with the the twins and relate to them. And not just during playtime. When one of them is upset he gets down to their level and listens to them and considers their feelings the same way he would another adult. In this way, he will make a great dad.

- The Galahkari had long decided that getting involved with the landlocked people (really like the term, so I’m gonna use it, if it’s okay with you) was more trouble than it was worth. Back when they had been landlocked themselves. Or that’s how the story went.

- Nyx had been out. Patrolling the outer reaches of Galahd’s territory, when he had noticed the boat. A tiny little thing, not made for the storm that was roaring above the waves.

- He could not say what made him curious enough to get closer to it, but something was pulling him. A whisper on the currents, the softest carress against his fins. A touch of destiny perhaps.

- It did not take much for the boat to overturn and for two forms to spill from it. Nyx did not have much experience with the landlocked, but one was the size of a young one. And it didn’t move.

- Not like the other one who fought and fought and fought. Fought against the currents with feeble arms and legs that weren’t made to propell a body through water. It was fascinating for Nyx to see this much stubbornness and will to fight in one person.

- So he stayed and watched. Watched the landlocked person struggle to reach the other. And manage it. It could have been a miracle, if Nyx hadn’t felt the current shift to giude the landlocked towards the other form drifting motionlessly.

- A landlocked being helped by Her?

- Nyx stayed and watched. And felt horror creeping up the fin along his spine as he realized that even with Her help, they would not make it. The landlocked could not breathe under water, only air. And these two had been submerged for a long time now.

- How long could they last under water? Nyx did not know.

- Before he even realized what he was doing, he was moving. He slung his arms around the struggling landlocked and his young one, mindful of his sharp scales and long fingers.

- Even under water the landlocked were strangely... solid, in a way. Clearly of earth and not of water.

- Up and up he pulled them until he broke through the surface, careful to keep both their heads above the water, and let himself drift with the storm. Nyx could feel Her power within it. It would show him where he needed to be.

- Close to the shore, Nyx had to change shape. His tail, long and powerful, shrank, the bones twisting and breaking as his hipbones grew and legs were formed. The gills running along his ribs sealed shut and he could feel his bones gain a solidity he was wholly uncomfortable with. He hissed in pain. It had been such a long time since he had changed shape. Long, long years.

- With stumbling steps he half dragged, half carried the landlocked towards the treeline, so they wouldn’t be accidentally drowned by the sea.

- The sun shone through a gap between the heavy clouds and Nyx got his first real look at the grown landlocked.

- He was male - or at least Nyx assumed he was - with short hair lacking any braids and beads. No shells and algae growing along his body to indicate his age. But still. There was something. Something that had gained the sea’s attention. Her attention. And by consequence, his.

- A cough racked the landlocked’s body and Nyx reared back. He hurriedly checked if the young one was breathing before he stumbled back towards the sea on unsteady legs.

- He breathed a sigh of relief when the waters embraced him and his form took back its natural shape.
